Ford's Lawyers Attempt To Set The Terms, Conditions & Date Of Her Testimony
[The Hill] - The woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault says she's willing to testify next week under certain conditions that have yet to be negotiated.

The lawyer for Christine Blasey Ford told the Senate Judiciary Committee in an email that Ford would be prepared to testify next week if senators offer "terms that are fair and which ensure her safety," The New York Times reported on Thursday.

CNN's Manu Raju shared a copy of the email from Ford's lawyers on Twitter.

Ford's lawyers in recent days have urged the FBI to open an investigation into Ford's sexual assault claim before she sits for a public hearing.

One of Ford's lawyers, Debra Katz, in the email said it "is not possible" for Ford to testify publicly on Monday, as the committee scheduled.

"The Committee’s insistence that it occur then is arbitrary in any event," she wrote, according to the Times.

Katz wrote that she will set up a call with senators on the committee "later on Thursday" to further discuss the proposal.

Ford is accusing Kavanaugh of holding her down and attempting to take off her clothing during a high school party in the 1980s.

To summarize - they want unspecified terms, an assurance of Ford's safety (I'm not buying the claim that she was driven out of her house - Democrats pull that shit on conservatives) and in any event, it's not going to happen on Monday. I hope we don't fold on this one.

#1  They just want to push this past midterm elections.

At this point I would tell her if she isn't there on Monday, her accusation will be round filed where it belongs.

#2  In reality she did not leave her home due to threats. She left her home so should would not be confronted with questions from reporters that she has not conjured up reasonably, sounding answers for in regards to this fabrication.

The terms and conditions are meant to delay the confirmation.

All a charade that DC knuckle heads will go along with to the fullest.

#5  Guess who's actually getting death threats?

"Citing an internal law enforcement report that details threats to the protectee, a senior administration official told CNN Thursday that the number of death threats made against Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh and his family have increased since Ford’s allegations came to light. The official said there are several current threats against the Kavanaughs that law enforcement deems credible, while several others have been opened and closed since he was nominated."

Want to save the forests from becoming junk mail pulp? Want to make "news" back into news? Want to get companies back to product and not divisive PR organs for one side or another. Want to get the NFL back to doing football and nothing else and Nike back to shoes?
Then... consider revisiting some tax write offs.
1) get rid of the advertising tax write off!
2) get rid of IRS depreciations on players
3) get rid of special tax breaks for sports teams, sites, events and promoters.
4) get rid of special mailing rates for junk mailings and for politicians.
Each one of these special rules erase a bit of your taxes that could be erasing the national debt and by not doing so also raise the cost of debt servicing to the US gov. (BTW your debt.)
Oh and all of those who benefit from the above help the democrats with propaganda.

Multiple people killed in Maryland shooting -may have been female shooter: DEVELOPING
[FoxNews]
Update a 1:30 pm EDT:
The lone shooter responsible for killing at least three people and wounding several others during a Thursday morning assault on a Maryland distribution center was in custody and in critical condition, police said.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press three people were killed in the shooting at the Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen. Raymond Fang, the trauma medical director at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, said the hospital received four people suffering from gunshot wounds. He did not elaborate on their conditions.

The suspected shooter was in the hospital, though police officers did not discharge their weapons during the incident, officials said.

Police responded to the shooting just after 9 a.m. at a distribution center near Spesutia and Perryman roads. Authorities arrived on the scene in just over five minutes of the first call.

A law enforcement official told Fox News the shooter may have been a woman and confirmed the incident was no longer an "active shooter" situation as of 11:30 a.m.
Second update at 5:45 pm EDT:
The lone shooter responsible for killing at least three people and wounding several others during a Thursday morning assault on a Maryland distribution center died at the hospital after she shot herself in the head, police said.

The suspect was identified as Snochia Moseley of Baltimore County, the Harford Sheriff announced on Twitter.

Authorities discovered that the suspect was a temporary employee at the center and "had reported for her workday as usual" before shots were fired, Gahler said.

A motive for the "senseless crime" remained unclear, he added.

The suspect appeared to be "armed with one handgun and several magazines," Gahler said, adding that the weapon was owned and registered to her.

"No shots were fired by any law enforcement responder," he said.

The incident is thought to have begun outside before it moved inward and shot individuals were found both inside and outside the business, Gahler said.

An FBI official told Fox News that the suspect's name had been run through the system and didn't find any terror ties.
Update from Heavy.com at 8:50 pm EDT, which has photos:
The gun, a 9mm Glock, used in the shooting was legally registered to Moseley.

A friend of Moseley’s wrote on Facebook that the shooter “got into it with some co workers and just started letting off shots.” That friend, citing other workers at the distribution center, said Moseley “was arguing with someone in the break room and just started shooting. Not aiming, just letting off shots in every direction.” That friend added, “I don’t that this was 1 bad day. This was built up rage.”

Maryland court records do not show a history of arrests or convictions for Snochia Teosha Olivia Moseley, only several open traffic cases. Moseley was cited in early September for driving without registration plates and validation tabs, failure to have insurance, driving with a suspended registration. That case was still pending at the time of her death.

Court records also show she was sued in Towson District Court on April 30, 2018, by the Office of Budget & Finance for the City of Baltimore. The case, filed in Towson District Court, is listed as a contract claim and no other details were immediately available. Her address, in that case, is listed as Landmark Court in Essex, Maryland. That case was also still pending with the last hearing occurring on June 22.

Ladies, We Don't Need To Be Part of Your Group Therapy
h/t Instapundit
Do we really have to be here for this?

By "we," I mean America. And by "this," I mean some form of forced group therapy session for adult women who cannot move past an ugly event from their teen years and feel the need to relitigate it in public nearly four decades later. A serious vetting process for a Supreme Court nominee has suddenly devolved into the GenX version of "The Big Chill."

Here’s the deal: Christine Blasey Ford is one year older than I am. We came of age in the hard-partying 1980s when binge drinking among Americans teens was at an all-time high. A huge cultural shift was happening: Moms were entering the workforce and divorce rates were surging. Teenagers had extra latitude to do naughty things while our parents were busy working or finding new relationships post-divorce.

Plenty of GenX women have at least one story somewhat similar to the one Ford now says happened to her in the early 1980s: Attending a "house party" with a small group of drunk teens at a home where no parent was present; getting so blitzed you can’t later recall important details‐like the exact date it happened or how you got home. Having inebriated boys take advantage of the situation‐getting sloppy and aggressive, maybe even trying to force themselves on you. While the behavior was not excusable or acceptable, nor was it criminal. Especially if it ended after a firm "no."

#2  Which brings me back to Ford. I don’t doubt that some version of the incident she described did happen to her—or to someone she knew—at some point during her teen years. It appears to be traumatizing enough that it was brought up during her marriage counseling.

I am, however, highly suspect that Judge Kavanaugh was the assailant, particularly because she has no proof he was, nor can she recall crucial details such as when it happened, where it happened, or how old she was. No one has corroborated her account. There now are conflicting versions between her letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and comments made by Ford’s attorney.

Wasn't tracking until these paragraphs. Pardon me if I think she is a straight up F'n liar who built her entire career around being a victim, preaching victimhood, and solidifying her own psyche around said premise.

Broken Ford.

Pres. Trump questions lack of border wall money in 'ridiculous' spending bill
[Washington Examiner] President Trump complained Thursday that a spending bill passed by the Senate this week doesn't do anything to boost funding for the border wall he promised voters in 2016.

"I want to know, where is the money for Border Security and the WALL in this ridiculous Spending Bill, and where will it come from after the Midterms? Dems are obstructing Law Enforcement and Border Security," Trump tweeted Thursday morning. "REPUBLICANS MUST FINALLY GET TOUGH!"

Trump has had an uphill battle since taking office in gaining funding for a southern border wall, which he promised voters during the campaign would be built to increase border security.

The Senate passed a final spending bill this week for fiscal year 2019 that accounts for more that half of the expected federal spending for the year. Funding was included for the Departments of Defense, Labor, Education, and Health and Human Services, but it also includes level funding for other departments, and reflects efforts to delay the fight over the border wall until after the midterm elections.

But while Trump complained about the bill, he's indicated he will sign the spending bills being passed by Congress in order to avoid a partial government shutdown that could hurt Republicans in the midterm elections.

Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., argued on Fox News Thursday that Democrats continue to prevent Republicans from giving Trump billions of dollars in wall funding.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Has State Dept. Finally Abandoned Its Palestinian Fantasies?
[American Spectator] A new report suggests that under President Trump it certainly has.

The biggest obstacles to peace between Palestinians and Israelis are the Palestinian Authority (PA), its president Mahmoud Abbas, the PLO, and Fatah ‐ the vary parties that have been promoted as Israel’s peace partners for the last 25 years. After its own futile attempts to forge a deal between the parties, the Trump administration now appears to recognize that the PA is not really interested in peace. And while the State Department has been reluctant to walk away from its investment in the PA, the just-released 2017 Country Reports on Terrorism suggests that it too is finally coming around.

The Secretary of State is required by law to provide Congress, by April 30, "a full and complete report on terrorism" from the previous year. The Country Reports on Terrorism (CRT), as it is known, provides an annual glimpse into U.S. policy regarding nearly every nation on earth, some of which require only a paragraph or two while others go on for pages. Israel, forever adjoined to the Palestinians, is described in one of the longer sections, titled "Israel, Golan Heights, West Bank, And Gaza." During Barack Obama’s presidency, this section reflected a naïve trust in the PA and Abbas and a departure from the skepticism about the PA’s ability to make peace evident in the Bush-era CRTs.

This year’s CRT, the first of the Trump administration, was produced during a chaotic period, under two different Secretaries of State, following some very public resignations and a hiring freeze, and under the direction of a new boss of the Bureau of Counterterrorism (Nathan A. Sales). The advanced copy of the Israel section I was provided, now released, suggests a change is under way at the State Department.

Last year’s CRT was the final one of the Obama era. Parts of the Israel section could have been written by the UN (or the BDS movement). Particularly egregious was the conclusion that "Continued drivers of violence included a lack of hope in achieving Palestinian statehood, Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank, the perception that the Israeli government was changing the status quo on the Haram Al Sharif/Temple Mount, and IDF tactics that the Palestinians considered overly aggressive." When it came out, I wrote that, "Gross incompetence aside, the only logical explanation for the State Department’s inaccurate and misleading report is that its authors still believe, as Barack Obama put it in a 2013 speech in Jerusalem, that Israel has ’a true partner in President Abbas.’"

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Drug overdoses, suicides push life expectancy in U.S. behind other developed nations
[Wash Times] Drugs and suicide are pushing down life expectancy in the U.S.

That’s according to a special report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that found rising rates of overdose deaths, suicide and chronic liver disease, even as Americans improve survival rates for the leading causes of death, such as heart disease and cancer.

Published Thursday by the National Center for Health Statistics, the report provides a snapshot of the health of the nation and points out how the opioid epidemic, mental illness, rising rates of obesity and Alzheimer’s disease are threatening lives.

"This special feature on mortality certainly was based on an interest in looking at what was happening with life expectancy," said Renee M. Gindi, lead author of the report and chief of the Analytic Studies Branch at the NCHS, which is part of the CDC.

Specifically, U.S. life expectancy decreased from 2014 to 2016, from 78.9 years to 78.6 years ‐ two or three years earlier than the life expectancy of almost all other developed nations.

Child pornography reason behind Sunspot Observatory closure, according to court documents
Thank goodness it wasn’t any of the worse things we’d imagined.
[KTSM] A federal search warrant reveals that Sunspot Solar Observatory was shut down as FBI agents conducted computer forensic searches for child pornography.

The source of child pornography was traced to an IP address used at the observatory and a source within the building observed a computer with "not good" images on it, the warrant states.

An investigation by the FBI revealed that a janitor is the main suspect in the search, however he has not been charged with a crime even though his name in on the warrant.

The warrant states the suspect would use the observatory Wifi and a personal laptop to download the child pornography.

A limited number of people have access to the observatory from dusk until dawn, which helped narrow their search.

The observatory in the mountains of southern New Mexico had been closed since Sept. 6 because of an undisclosed security concern, but reopened on Monday.

Anita Hill: Kavanaugh Bears The 'Burden Of Persuasion' Here
[Hot Air] Uh, no, and I can’t imagine any other type of bare allegation that might be thrown at a nominee for a government position that would lead us to say the burden of proof was on the accused in answering it. Which is particularly foul given that the type of allegation being made in the present case involves a violent sex crime.

Hill’s distinguishing between the burden of proof in court and the burden of proof in the court of public opinion, i.e. the Senate. To take away someone’s liberty we require the state to prove its case, but to take away a plum lifetime appointment to which the nominee was never entitled to begin with? What’s wrong with making him bear the burden of proof?

Then move to the unwillingness of the accuser to well, accuse under oath. She certainly already made the accusation in public, so why not make it before the committee?

Hezbollah leader says group will stay in Syria after Idlib settlement
[AlMasdar] Hezbollah’s Secretary-General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
delivered a televised speech, Wednesday, on the tenth night of Muharram.

In his televised speech, Sayyed Nasrallah touched on a number of topics, including Hezbollah’s presence and future in Syria.

"We will stay there (Syria) even after the settlement in Idlib. Our presence there is linked to the need and the consent of the Syrian leadership," he said to the large crowd on the eve of Ashura.

The Hezbollah leader then turned his attention to the Syrian Kurds, who he encouraged to abandon the U.S. and negotiate with the Syrian government.

"Your best interest is to negotiate with the Syrian leadership. Washington could abandon you at any price," he said.

Sayyed Nasrallah would conclude his speech by touching on the latest Israeli strikes on several Syrian cities earlier this week.

"The Israeli attacks on Syria are part of the Israeli-US-Saudi fiasco," he maintained, underlining Israel’s keenness that Syria doesn’t acquire rocket capabilities that guarantee a balance of terror.

"The Israeli attacks on Syria had become unbearable and must be stopped," he added.

US-backed forces seize strategic bridge near ISIS stronghold in Euphrates Valley
[AlMasdar] The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to seize an imperative site inside the Euphrates River Valley this week.

Backed by French and American artillery, the SDF scored a big advance between the two towns of Baghouz and Albukamal in the Deir Ezzor countryside.

According to the SDF’s official media wing, their forces seized an imperative bridge in this area after a fierce battle with the Islamic State

Militants "launched an opposite attack this morning to recover the bridge, but our forces confronted them and killed them," the SDF stated.

The bridge connects the town of Al Boukamal on the western side of the river with villages and farmlands on the eastern bank, about 7 kilometres upstream from the border with Iraq.

(ISIS) is in serious trouble in southern Syria, as they recently surrendered their last water source to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the al-Safa region of al-Sweida.

Led by their 3rd Corps, the Syrian Arab Army managed to score a number of important advances inside the al-Safa region in the past 48 hours.

According to a military communique, the Syrian Arab Army was able to seize this vital Islamic State water source in the Qabr Sheikh Hussein area after a fierce battle with the terrorist group.

In addition to capturing the water source, the Syrian Arab Army also claimed that they killed more than 20 Islamic State terrorists, including 5 snipers, that were attempting to hold onto this site.

As shown in the video below, the Syrian Arab Army can be seen heavily targeting the Islamic State’s positions before seizing the terrorist group’s last water supply:

Earlier this month, the US Treasury Department announced new sanctions against four people and five entities, saying that they facilitated petroleum shipments and financing to the Syrian government and accusing one of the companies of facilitating fuel trade between the Syrian government and ISIS terrorists.

Syrian Army strikes northern Latakia and west Idlib hard despite Sochi agreement (video)
[AlMasdar] It appears the new demilitarized zone agreement in Idlib has no affect over the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops in northern Latakia,
...which was not covered in Russia’s agreement...
as they carried out new strikes in northwest Syria.

The Syrian Arab Army launched a number of artillery shells and missiles towards the jihadist defenses in the northern Latakia and western Idlib this week, despite the fact a DMZ agreement was established by Russian Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. in Sochi on Monday.

According to a military source in Latakia, the Syrian Army and their allies from the National Defense Forces (NDF) carried out these strikes in retaliation for the attack launched by the jihadist rebels on late Monday.

As shown in the video below, the Syrian Army rains artillery shells and missiles on the jihadist defenses around the Jabal al-Akrad region of Latakia and Jisr al-Shughour District of Idlib:

Home Front: Culture Wars
Victor Davis Hansen - Are We on the Verge of Civil War?
[Townhall] Americans keep dividing into two hostile camps.

It seems the country is back to 1860 on the eve of the Civil War, rather than in 2018, during the greatest age of affluence, leisure and freedom in the history of civilization.

The ancient historian Thucydides called the civil discord that tore apart the fifth-century B.C. Greek city-states "stasis." He saw stasis as a bitter civil war between the revolutionary masses and the traditionalist middle and upper classes.

Something like that ancient divide is now infecting every aspect of American life.

Americans increasingly are either proud of past U.S. traditions, ongoing reform and current American exceptionalism, or they insist that the country was hopelessly flawed at its birth and must be radically reinvented to rectify its original sins.

No sphere of life is immune from the subsequent politicization: not movies, television, professional sports, late-night comedy or colleges. Even hurricanes are typically leveraged to advance political agendas.

What is causing America to turn differences into these bitter hatreds -- and why now?

The internet and social media often descend into an electronic lynch mob. In a nanosecond, an insignificant local news story goes viral. Immediately hundreds of millions of people use it to drum up the evils or virtues of either progressivism or conservatism.

Anonymity is a force multiplier of these tensions. Fake online identities provide cover for ever greater extremism -- on the logic that no one is ever called to account for his or her words.

Speed is also the enemy of common sense and restraint. Millions of bloggers rush to be the first to post their take on a news event, without much worry about whether it soon becomes a "fake news" moment of unsubstantiated gossip and fiction.

Globalization has both enriched and impoverished -- and also further divided -- America. Those whose muscular labor could be outsourced abroad to less expensive, less regulated countries were liable to lose their jobs or find their wages slashed. They were written off as "losers." Americans whose professional expertise profited from vast new world markets became even richer and preened as "winners."

The progressives declared war on America years ago, and regular Americans are just now waking up to the fact that those people will destroy the culture in order to obtain power.

#3  What is causing America to turn differences into these bitter hatreds -- and why now?

The Left's lust for power. You haven't been noticing that? By any means necessary.

Then there is the sticky issue they've been unsuccessfully working on for generations of disarming the population in general. They've gotten too far ahead of themselves. Never have they staged a take over with so many armed citizens across the expanse of a land. They're about to experience American Exceptionalism.

#4  Avoiding the violence and bloodshed by selling out and moving elsewhere has been going on in urban America for years. The vacuum is quickly filled by loyal, left-leaning constituents. Clinton's recent call to dump the 'Electoral College' is clear evidence of their intent to govern through the will of the urban mob.

Yet another proof of the left's intent is their 'open borders' campaign.

From yesterday's Washington Examiner:

Nearly half of residents in top 5 US cities do not speak English at home, a record 65 million.

#6  "Victor Davis Hansen - Are We on the Verge of Civil War?"

No, we're not on the verge of a civil war-- we're in it. Right now it's on a low level, with random acts of violence that are increasing in frequency.

But I don't think it will stay that way much longer.

#7  So we will point fingers at the left, and they will point fingers at us. Both sides are wrong. Our political reps, in conjunction with heavy financiers are working in conjunction with mainstream media to propagandize this nation into total division. Most readers will say, ya Occupy is a propaganda arm and the left are falling for it. But it is working both ways folks. Middle America, moderately educated, high school and college grads are the prime for sophisticated propaganda. We ask our selves how did Hitler sway a nation of good Christians into murdering millions of Jews? We look to today and see the template in action. We, on both sides are being bombarded with propaganda that is designed to divide us and drive us to a shrill level of contempt for our neighbors. All good propaganda has to be based in some truth, Kapra's first rule of propaganda, that truth is what they use to link the message to, and the message does not necessarily have to correlate with the truth. It is an art. This drives the mind to accept it as fact, just like the fact that even after marching the German population through the camps to see what happened, most did not believe it. We are there, in the last 15 years, with the advent of 24hour news cycles and Facebook, we have decided to believe the Rachel Maddows and Hahannities, over our own common sense and allow them to drive us to anxieties spurring things like Antifa and giving Anarchists a venue in our national dialogue. Our common enemy is the national media and the social media. There is no way for them to self regulate, there is no way for our nation to put rules into place. We must turn it off, stop logging in and listening to the poison, and sit with our neighbors and find common ground, or the civil war will be the most violent ever witnessed.

#10  49 Pan has some good points. Living as I do in coastal California, I know a number of otherwise good, intelligent people who would be described by Rantburgers as barking mad moon bat loony liberals. I don't want to believe I could bring myself to shoot any of them. I don't believe they know any better.

It cuts right through families. We can't talk about it at family gatherings anymore because we'd end up at each others' throats.

It's a miracle I grew up conservative. Frequent visits to the Midwest in my younger years might have had something to do with it. But then, California used to be a red state and I'm old enough to remember those days. Also, it says right there in the Bible, "Thou shalt not steal" and socialism sounds a lot like stealing to me.

Environment, and that includes the media, seems to have a lot to do with it. I wish Mrs. Uluque did not feel compelled to watch network news because it is so damn slanted. I asked her once if they ever taught her about propaganda in high school or college and she said no. I'm a few years older than she is and when I was in college they did mention it. A whole chapter of one of the English textbooks was about propaganda. I think it should be a required subject in junior high school because people like my wife don't even recognize it when they're exposed to it every day on ABCCBSNBCCNN and, yes, even FOX. That'll never happen as long as the teachers unions have any say.

It would be nice if corporate sponsors would yank their ads for this shit but we can't count on that either. It's really scary when you think about the way so many of these narratives are orchestrated in the media. What power can make all of these people from all of these different media outlets sing in unison every night like that?

One thing I like about Rantburg, even though it is slanted toward the conservative end of the spectrum, is that Fred and the mods allow different points of view. I like the motto of "Civil, Well Reasoned Discourse". Too bad you can't have that with barking mad moon bat loony liberals. Their favorite debate tactic is to shout you down. Lyndon Johnson used to say "Come, let us reason together." I think he got that from the Bible. But if they shout me down, all I can do is either shout back at them or walk away in frustration. That's no way for people to reason together.

Quite often I take my evening beverage outside to the patio to escape the nightly news broadcast. I gave up reading the newspaper long ago when I saw how they frame the debate by starting from false premises as if they are universal truths.

I never owned a gun and wouldn't know what to do with it if I held one in my hands. Maybe I'll get shot or end my days in prison. Maybe I'll move to Russia. I wish there was a better way.

#11  The independents have always been center right. They don't follow politics closely and have been lulled by the Democrat sweet words and a desire not to be seen as racist/sexist for over a decade. I doubt they'll tell pollsters at this point but election results may come as a nasty surprise for the left.

Liberia Missing Millions: Govt Prevents Key Officials From Leaving the Country
[All Africa] While investigation into the reported disappearance of US$16 billion as confirmed by Information Minister, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, is yet underway, the government has restricted the movement of individuals who it believes can help solve the mystery of the lost containers.

The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICAT) by an executive mandate, in a press release yesterday, ordered all security apparatus, particularly the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), and the Liberia National Police (LNP) to ensure that former Central Bank Executive Governor, Milton Weeks and his deputy, Charles Sirleaf who is still employed at the CBL, do not leave the country until investigation into the mystery is completed.

Weeks, who headed the CBL under former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's administration, has been declared a person of interest to the investigation along with his deputy, Charles Sirleaf, son of former President Sirleaf and thirteen other persons. "The Government takes the ongoing investigation seriously because it has National Security Implications," the release said.

The MICAT press release, signed by Minister Nagbe said "The Government has issued a security circular advising persons of interest who are required to assist with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the importation of Liberian Dollar Banknotes into the country between November 2017 and August 2018 not to leave the country."

Mr. George Abi Jaoudi, owner and operator of Abi Jaoudi businesses across the country is another big name wanted by the investigation team and has, therefore, been named as one of the fifteen persons ordered not to leave the country.

"Authorities at all points of entry and exit, including land borders, air, and sea ports have been directed to take due cognizance of the circular," the release further noted. Others wanted by the investigation team which comprises of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), the LNP and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) include Richard Walker, Mariea E.G. Toe, Musulyn R.B. Jackson, Ophelia Nyenpan and Oldada Deshield.

The release also named Prince Bull, J. Barquolleh Gabriel, Theodosia B. Jreh, Zinna Davison and Solomon Jaykpah as persons of interest to the investigation who are also not to leave the country.

Kollie Ballah and Andrew Pabai were also listed as persons of interest who are required, as in the case of other persons named, to stay in the country and help with the ongoing investigation.

With the collection of statements from the persons of interest having begun already at the LNP headquarters in Monrovia, CBL former Executive Governor, Milton Weeks is expected to appear before the Police today at 10 a.m. to assist in the investigation.

In a release on Monday September 17, the MoJ said: "Evidence available to the Investigative Team has established that the current administration was not informed about the arrival of the containers and bags of money into the country."

"I am confident that their ultimate report and recommendations will help put closure and finality to the matter."

Airstrike On Al-Shabab Held Town In Somalia
[RADIOSHABELLE] Unidentified warplanes were reported to have conducted a large-scale airstrike against Al-Shabaab militants in southern Somalia, amid ground military operations in the country.

The jets targeted at least 4 areas suspected to be Al-Shabaab bases in the town of Sakow in Middle Jubba region, according to the villagers, who asked to remain anonymous.

It is unclear so far which country belongs to the warplanes and as well as the exact casualties and damage caused by the air shelling during late last night.

The US military in Africa carries out most of the airstrikes in Somalia, especially in areas controlled by al-Shabaab and pro-Islamic State militants in Puntland, northeast of Somalia.

Iraqi court sentences IS chief Baghdadi’s deputy to death by hanging
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – An Iraqi court has sentenced to death by hanging a deputy to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi over his involvement in terrorist acts.

The convict, identified as Ismail al-Eithawy, had fled the country into Syria, then he escaped into Turkey following the defeat of Islamic State, where he was arrested, Iraqi website Al-Ekhbariya quoted spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council Abdul-Sattar al-Birqdar as saying.

Eithawy, according to the spokesman, “had held several positions within the terrorist Daesh (Islamic State) group, as he was in charge of the Iftaa (religious edict) committee and was responsible for developing the group’s educational curricula.”
An Nahar adds:
A native of the Iraqi city of Ramadi, Ismail Alwan Salman al-Ithawi was extradited from Turkey earlier this year.

Elon Musk unveils first tourist for SpaceX ‘Moon loop’
[NEWZIMBABWE] Elon Musk’s company SpaceX has unveiled the first private passenger it plans to fly around the Moon.

Japanese billionaire and online fashion tycoon Yusaku Maezawa, 42, announced: "I choose to go to the Moon."

He is expected to lift-off on the Big Fookin' Falcon Rocket (BFR), a launch system that was unveiled by Musk in 2016.

The mission, which is currently planned for 2023, will mark the first visit to the Moon by humans since Nasa’s Apollo 17 landing in 1972.

The announcement was made at SpaceX’s headquarters in Hawthorne, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, on Tuesday.

The company said the flight represented "an important step toward enabling access for everyday people who dream of travelling to space".

Earlier on Twitter, Musk had already hinted that the passenger would be from Japan.

Maezawa made headlines last year after paying $110.5m (£85.4m) for a painting by the late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat at an auction in New York.

Terror Networks
Post-Islamism between Asef Bayat and Ali Harb
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] In a recent television interview with La Belle France 24, Ali Harb spoke about his book, ’Jihad and its End ‐ Post-Islamism’. He starts with his well-known critical ideas.

Harb has reached the peak of critical production in the early years of the millennium as he produced writings and bold commentaries beyond the projects of modernity. Since the September 11, 2001 attacks, Harb has been engaged in analyzing violence, extremism and fundamentalism, but his approach is more that of someone who wonders and contemplates rather than that of someone who narrates what he knows about the complexities of Sharia and the details of Fiqh arguments, as his colleagues do.

As such, the content of his book presents post-Islamism in the same way he discussed post modernism, post reality and post-deconstruction. Islamism with its phenomena and movements is blown away by the winds of changes, new intellectual horizons and advanced methodological tools; only when Islam is a symbolic of a network of unifying values.

Home Front: Politix
Democrats, Kavanaugh, and ‘The End of Civilization'
[NR] If they get away with this, the only decent people in politics will be decent progressives.

Judge Robert Bork used to tell a prescient and darkly humorous story about watching Clarence Thomas’s Senate confirmation hearings ‐ etched in pre-hashtag history as the "Thomas‐Hill hearings," in homage to Anita Hill’s role as the Left’s heroic accuser.

At the time, Thomas was a judge of the same eminent D.C. Circuit federal appeals court on which Bork had served. As he viewed Thomas’s "high-tech lynching" in horror, Bork recalled, a friend of his, the iconic Irving Kristol, approached and asked him what was happening.

"The end of civilization," the judge sadly quipped.

"Of course it is," Kristol deadpanned. "But it’ll take a long time. Meanwhile, it’s still possible to live well."

It was a poignant story coming from Bork. A scholar of great breadth, the late judge was a man from another time: a patriot who’d enlisted in the Marines at 17 during World War II and been called back to duty when the Korean War broke out, even as he embarked on a legendary life in the law. In 1987, four years before the Thomas‐Hill hearings, the slide from civilization he so lamented ‐ the slouch toward Gomorrah ‐ had started when he himself was mugged by Senate Democrats. This libelous character assassination, derailing Bork’s nomination by President Reagan to the Supreme Court, had been led by Ted Kennedy.

McCaskill Will Set Aside Kavanaugh Allegation in Deciding How to Vote on Confirmation
[NR] Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri broke with her Democratic colleagues Wednesday in announcing that she will ignore the outstanding allegation of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh when deciding how to vote on his confirmation.

Asked at a campaign event in Lebanon, Mo. about Christine Blasey Ford’s claim that Kavanaugh assaulted her when they were in high school, McCaskill told the crowd that the allegations will not factor into her decision, which she expects to make "very shortly."

McCaskill, one of the most vulnerable Democratic senators up for re-election in November, said she was concerned about the allegation but will instead focus on Kavanaugh’s judicial record and qualifications in making her final determination, according to the Springfield News-Leader.

"I’m going to make the decision based on his positions, his writings in his decisions, and what I’ve discovered in the documents I’ve had a chance to review," she said. "That’s how I’ll make my decision."

Ford told the Washington Post Sunday that she authored a previously anonymous letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein of California accusing Kavanaugh of pinning her to a bed and attempting to remove her clothes at a house party in suburban Maryland 36 years ago.

Cameroon: Militants Behead Cameroon Security Official
[All Africa] AN estimated 400 civilians and 160 state security personnel have been killed in the protests in English-speaking regions of Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
over the past two years.

The latest indication of worsening brutality is a video of separatists showing a security man's decapitated head.

The activists in the North West region are demanding independence from Cameroon alleging marginalisation by the government of Paul Biya, which is largely French-speaking.

English speakers constitute 20 percent of the 24 million-population.

"The situation in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon is becoming increasingly desperate with no one spared from the violence which is spiralling out of control," said Samira Daoud, Amnesia Amnesty International's Deputy Director for West and Central Africa.

Daoud said perpetrators from both sides had attacked and killed people or destroyed their properties but continue walking free.

Early this month, armed separatists kidnapped seven students and the head of the Presbyterian Comprehensive Secondary School in the town of Bafut. They were released days later.

Last week, the murderous Moslems attacked positions of soldiers stationed near the town of Buea, causing an intense exchange of fire between them and the security forces.

Kuwait advises nationals not to travel to Iraq by road during Muharram
Good to know.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ The Kuwait Embassy in Baghdad advised on Wednesday nationals wishing to travel to Iraq during the month of Muharram to stay away from unsecured roads during their visit.

In a statement received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the embassy guided Kuwaiti citizens willing to visit religious shrines in Iraq to comply with local laws and regulations and not to use unsecured roads due to the unstable security situation in many Iraqi governorates.

It also advised Kuwaiti citizens not to travel by road from Iraq to Kuwait and vice versa and not to stop at rest houses, except when necessary.

Each visitor, according to the statement, should carry an ID card bearing the phone number of the campaign and the hotel’s name, while also adhering to health standards in handling food and beverages.

The statement urged Kuwaiti visitors willing to move to other provinces to inform the owner of the campaign first and get his approval.

It also demanded that Kuwaitis abide by the time set for residence granted to them, which is one month; otherwise they would pay a fine.

Zimdancehall star drags pregnant lover to court for stealing his beer
[NEWZIMBABWE] POPULAR ZimDancehall musician Donald Chirisa, better known as Sniper Storm, has dragged his pregnant girlfriend to court accusing her of breaking into his bedroom and stealing his beer while he was away on business.

The girlfriend, Mpompoma (25), appeared before Harare magistrate, Tilda Mazhande facing theft and malicious damage to property charges.

She was freed on $50 bail.

According to court papers, Mpompoma eloped to the father of three on September 23 this year claiming she was pregnant and had come to stay with him.

Chirisa (39) accepted her on condition she slept in the spare bedroom while he took time to think on how he could best solve his problem.

Court further heard that two days later, the musician left for South Africa, leaving the girlfriend with access to all other rooms except his locked bedroom.

It is alleged that Mpompoma then broke into the bedroom and stole beer valued at $350.

Mpompoma is also alleged to have stolen some car keys, registration book and agreement of sale documents.

Prosecuting, Devoted Gwashavanhu Nyagano said the broken door was worth $60.

But the girlfriend is denying the allegations.

She is yet to defend herself after her trial was postponed to the 25th of this month for commencement.

Government
Trump on Sessions: 'I don't have an attorney general'
[bbc] US President Donald Trump has said he does not "have an attorney general" in his fiercest attack yet on Jeff Sessions.

In an interview with Hill.TV, Mr Trump renewed criticism of Mr Sessions' decision to step aside from the inquiry into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.

He also said he was unhappy with Mr Sessions' response to immigration.

The attorney general is yet to respond to Mr Trump's comments.

It is unusual for a sitting president to attack their attorney general and critics accuse Mr Trump of trying to meddle in the legal system.

After the president criticised Mr Sessions last month, two key Republican senators signalled that they would support Mr Trump if he were to fire Mr Sessions after the November mid-term elections.

However, other Republicans told Politico they thought this would be a bad move and said they were standing by the attorney general.

Mr Sessions has pushed back against previous criticism by Mr Trump. "While I am attorney general, the actions of the Department of Justice will not be improperly influenced by political considerations," he said in August.

"I demand the highest standards, and where they are not met, I take action."

Russia-Trump: Who's who in the drama to end all dramas?
Will Trump remain bulletproof?
Mr Sessions was an early supporter of Mr Trump's presidential campaign.

But he left the Russia investigation - which is reportedly looking into whether Mr Trump attempted to obstruct justice - in 2017, citing a potential conflict of interest, and handed control to his deputy, Rod Rosenstein.

The president insists there was no collusion between his campaign and the Russian government, and denies he has attempted to obstruct justice.

India bans instant divorce by Muslim men
[DAWN] India's government on Wednesday approved an ordinance to implement a top court ruling striking down the Moslem practice that allows men to instantly divorce.

The government decision came after it failed to get approval of parliament a year after the court ruled that the practice of triple "talaq" violated the constitutional rights of Moslem women.

Most of the 170 million Moslems in India are governed by the Islamic law for family matters and disputes.

The laws include allowing men to divorce by simply uttering the Arabic word "talaq", or divorce, three times and not necessarily consecutively, but at any time, and by any medium, including telephone, text message or social media post.

The government will have another six months to get the parliament's approval for the ordinance to become law.

Identity of Ali Abdullah Saleh’s killer revealed as new details emerge
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Sources that are well-informed about the murder of former Yemeni President former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
and Aref al-Zouka in Sanaa in December 2017 said they were killed by a mediator named Abu al-Karar al-Washli, the website al-Mashhad al-Yemeni reported.

"The Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
official who shot Saleh and Zouka with a Russian gun is named Abu al-Karar al-Washli and he was one of the mediators between Saleh and the Houthis at the time," the sources said.

"They were murdered using a Russian gun from a distance of 100 meters away from Saleh’s residence in al-Kumaim while (Saleh’s) car was leaving along with car which the mediator, the Houthi official, was in, and the latter opened fire after receiving a phone call from Houthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdel Salam," the sources also said.

According to the sources, showing photos of a dead Saleh in Sanhan was in compliance with the commands of Houthi leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi to intimidate the people of Sanhan and his tribe.

General People's Congress official Yasser al-Yamaneen had told the Russian Sputnik news agency that the Houthis killed Saleh and Zouka near (Saleh’s) house in al-Kumaim after General People's Congress officials betrayed him and denied the Houthis’ story that Saleh was killed in Sanhan.

Woman pulls up skirt in crowded station calling to criminalize ‘upskirting' (VIDEO)
[RT] A young Russian woman has staged a solo protest by pulling up her skirt on the St. Petersburg subway, protesting so-called upskirting ‐ the practice wherein men take pictures under the skirt of an unaware victim.

Russian student Anna Dovgalyuk, who describes herself as a public activist, published a "video manifest" in which a young woman stands in the middle of a series of crowded St. Petersburg subway stations and hikes up her red dress in front of the camera.

"This video is ’dedicated’ to all who love to peek under skirts. On the behalf all women who became your victims ‐ here, look! And stay away from us," the caption on the video reads.

Israel airstrike left Syria arms warehouse in ruins, satellite images show, Syrian soldiers arrested
[IsraelTimes] Syrian soldiers reportedly locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
in connection with downed spy plane; IAF commander to fly to Moscow to present the findings of Israel’s investigation into the incident

A munitions warehouse in a Syrian military facility appears to have been completely obliterated in an Israeli Arclight airstrike in the Syrian port city of Latakia late on Monday, satellite images released Wednesday show.

A Russian military reconnaissance plane was shot down by Syria during the Israeli strike, killing all 15 crew members.

On Wednesday Syria released video footage from the site of the attack, reiterating its claim that Israel targeted an aluminium factory, not a weapons warehouse in Monday’s strike, according to the Ynet news site. The veracity of the footage could not be independently verified.

On Monday, Syria accidentally shot down the Russian reconnaissance plane when its air defenses swung into action against the Israeli strike on Latakia. The Russian defense ministry initially blamed Israel, saying the IAF jets used the Russian plane as cover.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
later told news hounds that the downing of the plane by Syrian air defenses was a "chain of tragic accidental circumstances."

On Wednesday, the Russians approved Prime Minister Netanyahu’s proposal to fly air force commander Major General Amiram Norkin to Moscow to present the findings of Israel’s investigation into the incident.

Syrian media and opposition sources reported Wednesday that several Syrian soldiers who were involved in the downing of the Russian spy plane were arrested and interrogated.

The fighters from the air force base in Latakia were reportedly arrested by members of the Russian military police. A Syrian unit was also reported to have taken part in the arrest, according to Hadashot TV.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, the pilot and the copilot had both hit the silk.

Jack! Cynthia exclaimed. Do you know how to drive one of these things?

Jack wiped some of the blood from his knuckles.

No, he said. Do you?...

the remains of another plane, a Boeing 747 aircraft that was destroyed in an earlier alleged Israeli strike at Damascus airport on Saturday, and believed to be in the use of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, can be seen in separate images provided by ImageSat International (ISI).

Iraq
Basra rises against the Persian enemy
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] I believe what has happened in Basra is a historic turning point that could be considered a sign that in the future there will be developments to get Iraq out of the crisis caused by politicians and sectarian leaders.

THROWING OFF IRAN
Basra has been the incubator of the "Twelver" Shiite, and the majority of its inhabitants belong to this sect. Iran promotes itself as the sponsor and supporter of Shiites everywhere in the world, not only in Iraq.

It’s through this sectarian dimension that Iran managed to penetrate the Iraqi society and to establish armed parties and militias and fund them so that they become loyal to it, instead of being loyal to their country.

The recent uprising in Basra at the beginning demanded basic services and had no political motivations. This was obvious to everyone who has followed the revolution since its early days. However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
what should not be ignored is that the demonstrators went to the headquarters of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, which are loyal to Iran, and burnt its headquarters in Basra.

Iran wanted Iraq and its Shiites to be its first line of defense, especially in the face of the US siege that is going to be imposed on it

Mohammed Al SheikhThen they did something more dangerous when they broke into the Iranian consulate and burnt it. This is a significant development that indicates that the sectarian dimension which Iran was trying to establish and solidify is now collapsing because of the Basra uprising.

During the Sadrist revolt in Baghdad around two years ago, the people were cheering "Get out Iran, Iraq should be free". It is known that the followers of holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
are the ones who won the majority of the votes.

All these indicators collectively suggest that the Iraqis have started to realize the Iranian agenda, which seeks to abolish Iraq’s independence and annex Iraq to be like a backyard of the mullahs’ republic. Iran wanted Iraq and its Shiites to be its first line of defense, especially in the face of the US siege that is going to be imposed on it.

TIDE IS TURNING
In other words, Iran wants to make Iraq a scapegoat that would hinder the US from besieging it. It seems that Moqtada al-Sadr became aware of Iran’s dangerous intentions which would make Iraq bear new crises and tragedies that it cannot afford.

There is no doubt that diminishing Iranian interference in Iraq is a major loss for the Iranian regime. The Persian mullahs would not be able to accept this easily.

Moreover, Iran’s Iraqi agents have started to feel that their exposed support for Iran cannot be justified as there is a majority of the Iraqi people that rejects to sacrifice their illusory sovereignty and independence as well as Arabism to be Iran’s first line of defense.

This has made Basra’s glorious uprising tantamount to the flame that cane make Iraqi Shiites, as well as Sunnis, significantly contribute to restraining Iranian influence.

PA hasn’t yet paid family of terrorist who killed Fuld, but they’ll be eligible
[IsraelTimes] Official denies Israel TV report that claimed the Jabarin family already received an advance, but says there’s no secret ’about our support for our prisoners’

The Paleostinian Authority Prisoner Affairs’ Commission denied an Israeli TV report that the PA sent a multi-thousand shekel advance to the family of a Paleostinian teen who stabbed an Israeli to death on Sunday. But it made clear that the family of Khalil Jabarin, the 17-year-old terrorist who killed Ari Fuld, would be eligible for a monthly salary from the PA once the correct paperwork has been completed.

On Monday, Israel’s Channel 20 reported that the PA had transferred a NIS 12,000 (some $3,300) advance to the family of Jabarin hours after he carried out a stabbing attack at the Gush Etzion Junction in the West Bank, killing 45-year-old Fuld, a father of four and a resident of the Efrat settlement.

DOJ Looking into ‘Misuse of Government Resources’ Alleged in Project Veritas ‘Deep State’ Sting
[BREITBART] The U.S. Department of Justice said on Wednesday it would look into alleged "misuse of government resources to advance personal interests" in response to a video from James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas purporting to expose "deep state" federal employees.

In the video, a Department of Justice paralegal, Allison Hrabar, is caught on camera saying there is "a lot of talk about how we can, like, resist from inside."

Hrabar is reportedly a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). She talks about how she has a friend, who is also a member of DSA, working in the Department of Agriculture and "slowing down" the process by which people get cut off from food stamps.

"We have a member who works for the people who distribute food stamps, and they can, like, take that away, and they’re slowing what they do... What they’re doing means that people are going to be able to stay on food stamps for another month or two, which is, like, really important," Hrabar said.

The video also suggests that Hrabar is seemingly using her work computer at the DOJ to research DSA’s political targets, apparently including looking up a lobbyist’s license plate to organize a protest outside his home.

Another person featured in O’Keefe’s video is Jessica Schubel, who is a "former Chief of Staff for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services during the last B.O. regime," according to Project Veritas.

Schubel can be seen discussing that there is "like, a little resistance movement" inside the government in Washington. She can also be seen stating that she received confidential information from a friend at the Department of Health and Human Services.

SC nullifies sharia court's decision to make Arabic compulsory at schools
[DAWN] The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled against the inclusion of Arabic as a mandatory component of the national educational curriculum.

The Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government had filed a petition with the apex court against the decision taken by the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) to include Arabic as a compulsory subject in all school curriculums.

A hearing in the matter was held on Wednesday by a three-member bench of the SC, presided over by Justice Musheer Alam.

During the course of hearing, the court was informed that on October 22, 2010, the FSC had taken the decision to make Arabic a compulsory component of school curriculums across Pakistain and directed federal and provincial governments to take all necessary measures for progress in this regard.

A letter penned by the principal of Oriental College, Lahore, Zahoor Ahmed Azhar, was converted into an application and a decision was taken thereafter by the sharia court.

The letter had termed Arabic as one of the world's top languages and had also referenced General Zia ul Haq
...the creepy-looking former dictator of Pakistain. Zia was an Islamic nutball who imposed his nutballery on the rest of the country with the enthusiastic assistance of the nation's religious parties, which are populated by other nutballs. He was appointed Chief of Army Staff in 1976 by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whom he hanged when he seized power. His time in office was a period of repression, with hundreds of thousands of political rivals, minorities, and journalists executed or tortured, including senior general officers convicted in coup-d'état plots, who would normally be above the law. As part of his alliance with the religious parties, his government helped run the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan, providing safe havens, American equipiment, Saudi money, and Pak handlers to selected mujaheddin. Zia died along with several of his top generals and admirals and the then United States Ambassador to Pakistain Arnold Lewis Raphel when he was assassinated in a suspicious air crash near Bahawalpur in 1988...
's decision to declare Arabic a mandatory course from the sixth to the 12th grade.

It had also proposed the use of the Arabic language across various other fields besides education.

The Punjab government's counsellor Qasim Chohan argued that the sharia court did not have the right to make such a decision and that there was a distinction between such matters and those pertaining to religion.

After listening to arguments from both side, the court ruled the sharia court's decision as null and void, saying that such a decision fell outside the sharia court's scope of authority.

China-Japan-Koreas
Kim agrees to dismantle main nuke site if US takes steps too
[DAWN] South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
announced a sweeping set of agreements after their second day of talks in Pyongyang on Wednesday that included a promise by Kim to permanently dismantle the North's main nuclear complex if the United States (US) takes corresponding measures, the acceptance of international inspectors to monitor the closing of a key missile test site and launch pad and a vow to work together to host the Summer Olympics in 2032.

Declaring they had made a major step toward peace on the Korean Peninsula, the two leaders were side by side as they announced the joint statement to a group of North and South Korean news hounds after a closed-door meeting on Wednesday morning.

"We have agreed to make the Korean Peninsula a land of peace that is free from nuclear weapons and nuclear threat," Kim said as he stood by Moon's side at the guesthouse where Moon is staying.

"The road to our future will not always be smooth and we may face challenges and trials we can't anticipate. But we aren't afraid of headwinds because our strength will grow as we overcome each trial based on the strength of our nation."

Kim and Moon earlier smiled and chatted as they walked down a hallway and into a meeting room to finalise the joint statement, which also said that the leaders would push for a Korean Peninsula without nuclear weapons and to "eliminate all the danger of war".

They agreed that Kim would visit the South in the near future.

The statement caps off the third summit between Kim and Moon, who is under increasing pressure from Washington to find a path forward in its efforts to get Kim to completely and unilaterally abandon his nuclear arsenal.

But while containing several tantalising offers, it appears to fall short of the major steps many in Washington had been looking for such as a commitment by Pyongyang to provide a list of the North's nuclear facilities, a solid step-by-step timeline or an agreement to allow international inspectors in to assess progress or discover violations.

Downing of the Russian aircraft: Who attacked whom?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Downing of the Russian Il-20 aircraft near Latakia and the death of all 15 people on board after it was shot down by the Syrian military exposes the complex picture in Syria. The incident exposes the depth that the Russian bear has dived into in Syrian traps.

In the beginning, Syrian regime media outlets cheered the ferocity of the Syrian air defenses as it later turned out that there was an Israeli strike by an F-16 on Iranian or Assad targets, which extend services to Iranian networks, including the Lebanese Hezbollah. These are red lines that Israel has frankly declared war on.

Russia’s interpretation of the crash or downing of its warplane is extremely strange and it implies evading specifying the source of the crisis. The Russian Defense Ministry said the aircraft, which disappeared near Syrian coasts with 15 Russian military personnel on board, was downed by a Syrian missile by mistake.

The Russian statement confirmed that this happened due "to the hostile and provocative acts" of Israeli warplanes in the region. Russia’s "wise" statement added that Israeli fighters put the Russian plane in the path of Syrian air defense systems and did not tell Moscow about its strike on Syrian targets except a little while before they were carried out.

Israel rejected the Russian accusation and said the Syrian government and the Syrian defenses are fully responsible for the incident.

GENEROUS SUPPORT
What’s ironic is that the Assad regime’s air defenses were developed thanks to Russia’s continuous and generous support as the British Guardian newspaper had reported that the Russian army spent 18 months rebuilding the Syrian air defense system.

Iran’s military presence ‐ whether directly or via Iran’s foreign militias like the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iraqi and Afghani gangs ‐ is rejected and viewed as direct act of war. This is the Israeli security viewpoint hence these are all always legitimate targets for Israeli fighters and missiles.

At the same time, Russia, alongside the Iranians, are the ones protecting the Syrian regime, and it’s the one preying on Syrian land and airspace ‐ with apologies to his excellency President Assad ‐ so how will Moscow resolve this dilemma?

Truth is the incident of downing the Russian airplane using a Syrian military missile (which was originally taken from Russians) is a warning bell to the wild Russian as Russia is not alone the master of the Syrian arena.

The incident also reveals how poisonous this malicious Iranian presence is in Syria. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo commented on what happened and rightfully said: "Yesterday’s unfortunate incident reminds us of the need to find permanent, peaceful, and political resolutions to the many overlapping conflicts in the region."

He added that it also underlined the "urgent need to end Iran's provocative transit of dangerous weapon systems through Syria."

Apart from the news’ bleak vibes, the Russian answer reminded me of Actor Adel Imam’s sentence in the play Shahed Mashafsh Haga (witness who saw nothing) as he complained to Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Abdelsalam after the policeman harassed him.

"He slapped my hand with his face, Sir," he said.

#2  Sounds like the kid in dodgeball who got hit because the target jumped out of the way.

Unless there was a swarm of missiles, I am surprised by the lack of counter-measures on the IL-20. Just guessing the lack of survivors means the aircraft wasn't just winged.

I am also guessing that even if the Israeli pilot was trying to do this, the crowded and dynamic airspace would make a purposeful attempt downright difficult.

Army issues demolition order for home of Palestinian who killed soldier
[IsraelTimes] Islam Yusef Abu Hamid killed Staff Sergeant Ronen Lubarsky with stone slab; IDF says home was erected on plot where a building was demolished following attack by Hamid’s brother

Israeli forces issued a demolition order on Wednesday for the home of the Paleostinian who killed IDF soldier Staff Sergeant Ronen Lubarsky during a raid in a refugee camp close to Ramallah in May.

The family of 32-year-old Islam Yusef Abu Hamid was informed that the IDF intends to destroy all four stories of the building, and not just two floors as had previously been stated.

The IDF noted that the home was erected on a plot where a building was previously demolished in the 1990’s following an attack by Hamid’s brother. At the time, the family was ordered not to rebuild the structure.

A military court filed an indictment in May against Hamid, charging him with murder. The Military Advocate General requested that he be remanded until the end of proceedings against him.

According to the indictment, Hamid’s actions had been in retaliation for the January arrest of one of his brothers.

On the night of the incident, the suspect woke up to the sounds of dogs barking and soldiers shouting as they incarcerated
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
two of his neighbors in an adjacent house.

Hamid climbed to the roof of a neighboring home where he chose the heavier of two marble slabs that were waiting there for him. He lifted the 40-pound slab onto the railing of the roof and hurled it down onto Lubarsky, who was standing below.

The suspect then immediately climbed back onto the roof of his home and crawled inside as soldiers tended to their injured comrade.

Lubarsky, from the central city of Rehovot, was critically injured and died of his wounds two days later.

Hamid was also charged with obstruction of justice for efforts to tamper with the scene of the crime hours after the incident.

According to the indictment, Hamid snuck back to the adjacent rooftop and used cleaning materials to wipe his fingerprints off of the second marble slab that he had grasped earlier, but decided against using.

The IDF said that the soldiers had been on a mission to arrest members of a terror cell who had been carrying out shooting attacks. The raid was based on intelligence information obtained in coordination with the Shin Bet security agency.

A few days after Lubarsky was killed, the military carried out a raid in al-Am’ari, in an apparent effort to locate the soldier’s killer. Clashes broke out between residents and the Israeli troops, with 13 Paleostinians lightly or moderately injured, the Paleostinian Health Ministry said at the time. Hamid was arrested in the raid.

According to the Shin Bet, Hamid had been incarcerated in Israeli prison from 2004 to 2009 for terrorist activities committed on behalf of the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terrorist group.

In a statement, the security service also said Hamid’s brothers were also members of Hamas.

"Islam’s brothers are Hamas operatives who have in the past carried out terror attacks in which Israelis were killed, including Shin Bet agent Noam Cohen," the Shin Bet said.

Cohen was killed in 1994 when Hamas members shot up his car while he was driving with a Hamas informant in the West Bank city of Hebron.

Paleoteen shot dead by Israeli fire in Gaza border clashes
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Paleostinian teenager was rubbed out by Israeli fire in festivities near the border in southern Gazoo late on Wednesday, the health ministry in the enclave said.

The ministry said Mumin Abu Ayeda, 15, was shot along the heavily-guarded border east of Rafah in southern Gazoo.

The border between Gazoo and Israel has been the scene of weekly Paleostinian demonstrations since March 30 and recently, protests have taken place late at night, as was the case on Wednesday.

The Israeli military said earlier that during the day there had been several incidents along the Gazoo-Israel border. It said there were no Israeli casualties.

At least 182 Paleostinians have been killed in the protests, according to Paleostinian health officials.
The Times of Israel adds:
There was no immediate confirmation from the Israeli Defense Forces, which has highlighted the often-violent nature of the demonstrations, labeling them riots.

Search for HMS Endeavor narrows off the coast of Rhode Island
[BBC] The hunt for the final resting place of Captain James Cook's HMS Endeavour may soon be over - in time for the 250th anniversary of its voyage to Australia.

The Endeavour, then known as Lord Sandwich II, was sunk with 12 other ships off Rhode Island, in the US, in August 1778, but no-one was sure where.

Now, following a 25-year archaeological study of the area, the search has been narrowed to just "one or two" sites.

Experts are now hopeful it will be definitively identified by 2020.

That would be just in time for the anniversary of Capt Cook arriving in Australia, following a two-year voyage of discovery which initially set out from Plymouth, England.

The Rhode Island Marine Archaeology Project (Rimap), which has been working with the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM), said it would release a "3-D photogrammetric image of a promising site" on Friday.

But it will still be some time until the true identity of the wreck is revealed. "Detailed work" must be done during a planned excavation of the area, just off Goat Island, in 2019, it said in a statement.

"Once excavated it will require sampling, testing of the type of wood and nails, and analysis which won't give us a definitive answer for another 18 months."

Capt Cook set sail on Endeavour - a British-built coal ship - in 1768 on a scientific voyage to map the Pacific Ocean.

It was the ship in which the explorer charted New Zealand and Australia between 1769 and 1771. He arrived off the south-east coast of what is now Australia in 1770, eventually making landfall at Botany Bay.

He later claimed the region for the British crown, despite the presence of large Indigenous communities.

After sailing back to Britain, the Endeavour was renamed Lord Sandwich II and became a troop carrier.

During the American War of Independence it was scuttled by the British Navy with the 12 other ships to form a blockade of the Narragansett Bay.

Arabia
Coalition intercepts, destroys Houthi ballistic missile targeting Jazan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Coalition forces confirmed that they intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias toward the border Saudi city of Jazan on Wednesday.

The Houthis has stepped up missile attacks on the kingdom in recent months.

The Yemeni legitimate forces have repeatedly stressed the continued involvement of the Iranian regime in supporting the Houthi militias and supplying them with rockets carrying qualitative capabilities, in clear defiance to United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
Resolutions 2216 and 2231 in order to threaten the security of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and destabilize regional and international security.

The total number of ballistic missiles fired by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias towards Saudi Arabia has so far has reached 198 rockets, causing the deaths of 112 civilians and residents and injuring hundreds.

#1  What was their inventory before the Houthis captured them? It's not like ballistic missiles can be smuggled in in dhows very easily

Sen. Mazie Hirono to men: 'Just shut up and step up'
[USATODAY] Sen. Mazie Hirono did not hold back Tuesday in her condemnation of the handling of professor Christine Blasey Ford's allegation of a decades-old sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, telling men to "shut up and step up."

The Hawaii Democrat slammed the Senate Judiciary Committee's move to hold a hearing on the allegation on Monday and said the men on the committee should join the call for an FBI investigation ahead of any testimony from Kavanaugh or Ford. Hirono is a member of the committee.

Hirono said she expected "the enlightened men in our country" to "rise up to say, 'We cannot continue the victimization and the smearing of someone like Dr. Ford.'"

#1  "Step up" often implies "speak up", so she's saying:

"Shut and talk!"?

Is this gonna be like that "It's your duty to risk false accusations of assault by mentoring us" wheeze from some months back?

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Ex-CIA Chief John Brennan Encourages Deep State to Defy President Trump's Declassification Order
[GP] The Deep State is in an obvious panic mode since President Donald Trump ordered a number of documents relating to the Russia investigation be declassified. Joining the loud choir of those who are pushing for insubordination against the president is former CIA Director John Brennan.

Appearing on MSNBC on Tuesday, Brennan urged people in the intelligence community to ignore the president’s order. The former CIA head was stripped of his security clearance by Trump in August for his bizarre behavior.

"A number of individuals are trying to protect Mr. Trump and abusing their authorities and their powers, whether it be in Congress or within the executive branch," Brennan said.

"And this is something that I am hoping that individuals of conscience are going to stop and prevent because I am concerned that this is just one indication that Mr. Trump is going to increasingly look for steps to take in order to further try to subvert the Mueller investigation," Brennan continued.

Brennan joins Rep. Adam Schiff, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Senator Mark Warner, and Senator Charles Schumer who sent a letter to the heads of the intelligence agencies demanding that they commit an act of insubordination and defy the presidential order.

"Your agencies’ review, and any communication with the White House on the substance of the material, should not proceed further until you have briefed the Gang of Eight in person," the letter orders.

China-Japan-Koreas
Pompeo: US ready to restart talks with North Korea immediately
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United States is ready to restart negotiations with North Korea "immediately", US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Wednesday, with the aim of completing North Korea’s denuclearization by January 2021.

Pompeo said he had invited North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho to meet in New York next week where they are both due to attend the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
gathering of world leaders.

The United States has also invited North Korean representatives to meet with the US Special Representative for North Korea in Vienna at the "earliest opportunity", Pompeo said.

Pompeo cited North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
’s decision to "complete the previously announced dismantlement of the Tongchang-ri site in the presence of US and international inspectors as a step toward the final fully verified denuclearization of North Korea".

"On the basis of these important commitments, the United States is prepared to engage immediately in negotiations to transform US-DPRK relations," Pompeo said in a statement.

North Korea’s pledge at a summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Pyongyang drew an enthusiastic response from US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, even though some US officials and experts fear a ploy to weaken Washington’s resolve and its alliance with Seoul.

India-Pakistan
SC suspends death sentences of 3 convicted by military courts
[DAWN] The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday suspended the death sentences awarded by military courts to three convicts.

A three-judge SC bench headed by Justice Azmat Saeed, issued a notice to the Interior Ministry in this regard.

The three convicts ‐ Tahir Ali, Habibul Rehman and Saifullah ‐ were accused of killing two army officials in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in 2009.

The Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
High Court (PHC) had earlier rejected the convicts' appeals.

The hearing of the case was postponed for an indefinite period of time.
