Justice Dept. charges Minnesota FBI agent for leaking secret document to news outlet
[StarTribune] A former Minneapolis FBI agent who sought to expose what he called "systemic biases" within the bureau has been charged after allegedly leaking secret documents to a national news reporter, according to federal criminal charges filed in Minnesota this week.

The charges, filed by prosecutors for the Justice Department's National Security Division, are the first to come in Minnesota since Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a broad crackdown on government leaks last year.

A two-page felony information, a charging document that typically signals an imminent guilty plea, outlines two counts filed against Terry James Albury of unlawfully disclosing and retaining national defense information.

Albury is accused of sharing a document on assessing confidential human sources ‐ otherwise referred to as informants ‐ and a document "relating to threats posed by certain individuals from a particular Middle Eastern country" with a reporter for a national media organization.

The second count charged against Albury alleged that he failed to turn over a document "relating to the use of an online platform for recruitment by a specific terrorist group" last year.

The charges do not name the reporter or news organization but specify that Albury allegedly possessed and shared the information between February 2016 and Jan. 31, 2017 ‐ the same date that the Intercept published an entry to its "FBI's Secret Rules" series on how the bureau assesses potential informants. The report drew upon a secret document obtained by the Intercept that has the same publication date described in the charges against Albury.

According to previously sealed search warrant applications in the case executed last August, the FBI eventually linked references to secret documents in federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests filed by the Intercept in March 2016 to Albury's activity on the FBI's information systems. The FBI also later identified 27 government documents ‐ 16 of which were marked classified ‐ published online by the outlet between April 2016 and February 2017 and found that Albury had accessed more than two-thirds of the files.

The FBI also identified a gray highlight across a row of text of the August 2011 document that is not present in the original document. Investigators also confirmed that Albury conducted "cut and paste" activity on that document and printed the copy a month before the Intercept's FOIA requests. He also allegedly accessed about a half dozen other secret documents referenced in the requests, at least one of which was later published online.
Continues and due to the late posting I will attempt to run it again tomorrow.

China-Japan-Koreas
China announces NKOR agrees to de-nuclearize
[CNBC] China said on Wednesday it won a pledge from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to denuclearize the Korean peninsula during a meeting with President Xi Jinping, who pledged in return that China would uphold its friendship with its isolated neighbor.

After two days of speculation, China announced on Wednesday that Kim had visited Beijing and met Xi during what the official Xinhua news agency called an unofficial visit from Sunday to Wednesday.
[I love the 'official news agency called an unofficial visit' part]
The trip was Kim's first known journey abroad since he assumed power in 2011 and is believed by analysts to serve as preparation for upcoming summits with South Korea and the United States.
[although this just confirms what SKOR officials saida month ago, it is still a big deal because of China's status]

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Avery Island Could Disappear Because Of Climate Change
The alarmists are putting in some overtime this week...
[Guardian UK] - Avery Island, a dome of salt fringed by marshes where Tabasco sauce has been made for the past 150 years, has been an outpost of stubborn consistency near the Louisiana coast. But the state is losing land to the seas at such a gallop that even its seemingly impregnable landmarks are now threatened.

The home of Tabasco, the now ubiquitous but uniquely branded condiment controlled by the same family since Edmund McIlhenny first stumbled across a pepper plant growing by a chicken coop on Avery Island, is under threat. An unimaginable plight just a few years ago, the advancing tides are menacing its perimeter.

"It does worry us, and we are working hard to minimise the land loss," said Tony Simmons, the seventh consecutive McIlhenny family member to lead the company. "We want to protect the marsh because the marsh protects us."

#1  Most of the land loss in Louisiana is in the Mississippi Delta, about a hundred miles to the east. Areas west of the Atchafalaya River outlet, like Marsh Island, which is south of Avery Island, is actually gaining land.

I used to have a satellite image of the whole coastal area, but I don't know where it is, and it doesn't show up if you search for "West Cote Blanche Bay From Orbit."

Fusion GPS May Have Used Unwitting Reporters to Fuel FBI Dossier Probe
[Breitbart] NEW YORK ‐ Glenn R. Simpson, the co-founder of the controversial opposition research firm Fusion GPS, may have used unwitting reporters to help get the FBI to take more seriously the largely discredited 35-page anti-Trump dossier produced by his group, according to a recently released book.
Yes, most will 'say' they were unwitting, or say nothing at all.
Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier, reportedly provided the anti-Trump dossier claims to the FBI on July 5, 2016. Fusion GPS firm hired Steele to do the anti-Trump work that resulted in the compilation of the dossier. Fusion GPS was paid for its anti-Trump work by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and the Democratic National Committee via the Perkins Coie law firm.

The book, Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, is authored by reporters Michael Isikoff and David Corn.

In their work, Isikoff and Corn relate Simpson and Fusion GPS set up a series of off-the-record briefings with reporters at the Tabard Inn in Washington, DC. At these briefings, Steele informed the individual reporters of the claims inside the dossier.

Isikoff and Corn write that Simpson had hoped the briefings would prompt reporters to call the FBI about the dossier charges so that the bureau would take the claims more seriously.

Buzzfeed: Christopher Steele's Other Report: A Murder In Washington
[Caution - Buzzfeed] The FBI possesses a secret report asserting that Vladimir Putin’s former media czar was beaten to death by hired thugs in Washington, DC ‐ directly contradicting the US government’s official finding that Mikhail Lesin died by accident.

The report, according to four sources who have read all or parts of it, was written by the former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, who also wrote the famous dossier alleging that Russia had been "cultivating, supporting and assisting" Donald Trump. The bureau received his report while it was helping the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department investigate the Russian media baron’s death, the sources said.

FBI spokesperson Andrew Ames declined to confirm or deny the existence of the report and would not comment for this story. Steele's business partner, Chris Burrows, declined to comment on behalf of Steele and their company, Orbis Business Intelligence.
Andrew Ames....? Hopefully no relation to Aldrich.
The new revelations come as concerns about Russia’s meddling in the West have intensified to a pitch not seen since the Cold War. Both the UK and the US have blamed the Kremlin for poisoning former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in England this month, using a rare nerve agent that endangered bystanders. (Russia has denied it was behind the poisoning.) In the wake of that attack, the British government has opened a review of all 14 suspicious deaths linked to Russia that a BuzzFeed News investigation exposed last year.

The BuzzFeed News series also revealed new details about Lesin ‐ including that he died on the eve of a scheduled meeting with US Justice Department officials. They had planned to interview Lesin about the inner workings of RT, the Kremlin-funded network that he founded.

Now BuzzFeed News has established:

Mattis: U.S. Nearly Bombed Russians in Syria a Second Time
[Free Beacon] U.S. military forces in the Middle East nearly bombed a group of Russian mercenaries working with pro-government forces in Syria for a second time, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis revealed Tuesday.

Mattis, speaking to reporters at the Pentagon, also defended the mass expulsion of Russian intelligence officers around the world in response to Moscow's use of a deadly nerve agent in attempting to assassinate a defector in Britain.

On the Syrian incident, Mattis said within the past week a group of Russian mercenaries moved across a river that was a line set up to deconflict U.S.-backed and Russian-backed rebel groups and into an area were Russians were not supposed to be operating.

"These were forces moving into more advanced positions, too close," he said.

After discussions between Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. Valery Gerasimov, chief of the general staff, the Russian mercenary forces pulled back.

"So it looks like, this time, it was resolved through the deconfliction communication line," Mattis said. "It did not go into harm's way as it did there a month ago."

As many as 200 Russian mercenaries in Syria were killed Feb. 7 during a large-scale U.S. airstrike near the Euphrates River in Syria.

Countries turn to K Street as they seek relief from Trump's tariffs
[The Hill] President Trump's protectionist trade policies have led to a hiring spree on K Street, as countries seeking to escape tariffs bring on new firms to convince the White House and Congress that they should be treated favorably.

Since the beginning of 2017, eight countries have added roughly two dozen firms to work on trade issues, according to disclosures filed to the Justice Department and counted by The Hill.

Those countries ‐ Japan, South Korea, Bahrain, Australia, United Arab Emirates, China, Canada and Mexico ‐ already have other firms on retainer.

So far, countries including South Korea, Canada, Mexico and Australia won exemptions from new tariffs the Trump administration has slapped on imports of aluminum and steel. But Japan, an ally to the U.S. that has been in regular talks with the White House, did not.

"This tariff thing, where you basically have to go plead your case with the president's team or [Commerce Secretary Wilbur] Ross to get an exemption from tariffs on your company or country. ... I don't think I've ever seen anything like it in Washington," one Republican lobbyist told The Hill. "It's like the ticket desk at Dulles [International Airport] in a snowstorm where you have 472 people trying to fight for eight available seats on a plane."

The steel and aluminum tariffs are just one example of how Trump’s approach on trade has thrown people off-balance.

He finally picked the wrong bank (video)
A bit dated (Jan 2017) but still gratifying nonetheless.
[WIFR] Update: Rockford, IL - The security guard behind the deadly shot that killed a bank robber inside Alpine Bank in January will not face criminal charges. That guard is now being called a hero.

"There is no doubt in my mind the actions of Brian Harrison saved the lives of those that were employees in the Alpine Bank location on that date and saved his own life," Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato, said.

It took just seconds :From a quiet day inside Alpine Bank on N. Mulford to a masked gunman creating chaos. Surveillance video shows Laurence Turner coming in, shooting once into the ceiling, then at Metro Enforcement security officer Brian Harrison. Harrison is a former Winnebago County deputy who jumped into action.

"They are taught generally to shoot center mass in the body. This is a very dynamic, fluid situation and he's doing what he was trained for 30 years to do and it was eliminate and take care of the threat," Rockford Police Chief Dan O'Shea said.

Fake news 2.0: personalized, optimized, and even harder to stop
[MIT Tech Review] Fake news may have already influenced politics in the US, but it’s going to get a lot worse, warns an AI consultant to the CIA.

Sean Gourley, founder and CEO of Primer, a company that uses software to mine data sources and automatically generate reports for the CIA and other clients, told a conference in San Francisco that the next generation of fake news would be far more sophisticated thanks to AI.

"The automation of the generation of fake news is going to make it very effective," Gourley told the audience at EmTech Digital, organized by MIT Technology Review.

The warning should cause concern at Facebook. The social network has been embroiled in a scandal after failing to prevent fake news, some of it created by Russian operatives, from reaching millions of people in the months before the 2016 presidential election. More recently the company been hit by the revelation that it let Cambridge Analytica, a company tied to the Trump presidential campaign, mine users’ personal data.

In recent interviews, Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, suggested that the company would use AI to spot fake news. According to Gourley, AI could be used in the service of the opposite goal as well.

Gourley noted that the fake news seen to date has been relatively simple, consisting of crude, hand-crafted stories posted to social media at regular intervals. Technology such as Primer’s could easily be used to generate convincing fake stories automatically, he said, and that could mean fake reports tailored to an individual’s interests and sympathies and carefully tested before being released, to maximize their impact. "I can generate a million stories, see which ones get the most traction, double down on those," Gourley said.

Gourley added that fake news has so far been fed into social-media platforms like Facebook essentially at random. A more sophisticated understanding of network dynamics, as well as the mechanisms used to judge the popularity of content, could amplify a post’s effect.

#1  Remove the unconstitutional two tier system of libel. Either we are equal before the law or not. Public or private makes no difference. Hold the Legacy Infotainment Enterprises to the same standards you'd hold any commercial business to in selling shoddy products. After some really painful experiences they will either be out of business or grasp the concept of quality control. Suddenly, the amount of fake news will diminish.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Not in Kansas Anymore
[American Thinker] I have a 1956 Norman Rockwell print of a frumpy, sweet-faced teacher standing in front of a class of clean-scrubbed, straight-backed children. They had just written "Happy Birthday, Miss Jones!" on the blackboard for her. It's a scene light-years away from a 21st-century school massacre, and it may take some time for the more Pollyannaish among us to readjust to what the 21st-century school really is. This may explain the freak-out over the idea of arming teachers: Miss Jones with a Ruger tucked into her belt is just too hard to swallow.

This worries me, because we can't fix a problem we don't have the courage to really acknowledge. Our schoolrooms are still full of great kids, sweet-natured and teacher-loving, but these days, every class has an ever increasing number of students carrying major psychological damage. I'll never forget a class of freshmen I had one year. Of the 27 students in that section, nine were seriously mentally disturbed. I know a teacher who's trying to deal with a student who has already thrown rocks through the principal's office windows and is currently threatening to burn down the school with a flamethrower. He's six years old.

It's been ten years since I've been in a public school classroom, but even back then, the horrible parenting I was seeing had me worried. I'll never forget the young man who chose to write his narrative essay about the night his father tried to strangle him. He was nervous about testifying at his dad's trial. Or the young woman whose father was willing to pay for the braces she needed as long as she would bring home friends for him to have sex with. And the young man, fatherless and troubled, who brought a hatchet to school to use on me if I made him give a speech. His terrified mother's warning saved both my life and his.

#1  ...The author makes a good point - the number of truly damaged kids in public schools today is a national problem. The fact that we won't do much about it for fear of offending Certain Protected Groups(TM) is a national disgrace.

Because of that, arming teachers is not a good idea. I understand that there may be no good answers here, but the fact is that almost daily in this country, teachers are assaulted by the kids they're trying to instruct, and one of those teachers is going to use their weapon to defend themselves - statistically, it's going to happen.

And there's another side to this coin: I had two teachers in elementary school - fourth and sixth grades - who were so vicious (to include surprise, no-justification physical assaults) that I am utterly convinced that if either one of them had a firearm, they would have - at best - brandished it constantly and at worst used it.

Whatever answers there might be for this problem, arming teachers ain't it. I'm absolutely willing to concede that the overwhelming majority of teachers are sane, stable individuals who would unhesitatingly run to the defense of their kids. But all it will take will be one teacher to feel that they are in mortal danger from a berserk student - or completely lose their sh!t - and it'll be hard to find a single voice in defense of the 2A.

#2  Well, schools are microcosm of society - if you've a society operating on the premise that the worst are the victims and the best are the victimizers...

Mind you, IMO the problem is not the occasional incidents of violence but the constant stream of credentialed semi-illiterates.

#3  I've said it here before. Leftism's core value is the lowest common denominator. It isn't share-the-wealth, it's share-the-misery. "Progress" it definitely is not, unless you are a predator looking for easy pickings with no consequences.

#4  It's not about arming all teachers or administrators. It's about installing the uncertainty principle among the targeted population. Perps seek the least route of expected resistance.

Is slavery dead? 'R Kelly' accused of grooming 14-year-old girl as 'sex pet'
[Guardian] The R&B singer R Kelly has been accused of sexually abusing a girl since she was 14 years old.

The allegation ‐ the latest in a string of allegations of the sexual abuse of young women by Kelly ‐ was made, referring to another woman, by former girlfriend Kitti Jones, in a BBC3 documentary to be aired on 28 March.

During two years of dating Kelly from 2011 onwards, Jones, 34, says she was groomed by him, and forced to have sex with him and others at least 10 times in a "sex dungeon".

She said: "I was introduced to one of the girls, that he told me he ’trained’ since she was 14, those were his words. I saw that she was dressed like me, that she was saying the things I’d say and her mannerisms were like mine. That’s when it clicked in my head that he had been grooming me to become one of his pets. He calls them his pets."

Jones said Kelly made the unnamed woman "crawl on the floor towards me and perform oral sex on me, and he said, ’This is my fucking pet, I trained her. She’s going to teach you how to be with me.’" It is unclear how old the woman was at the time of this incident.

Kelly or his representatives made no comment to the BBC or the Guardian, but he has previously denied accusations of sexual impropriety or violence against women.

In 2008, Kelly was found not guilty of child pornography charges after he was accused of filming and photographing sexual encounters with a 14-year-old girl. He has reportedly made out of court settlements with various other women, including in 1996 Tiffany Hawkins, who said she had a sexual relationship with him for three years from the age of 15.

Dozens arrested after violent protests over land in Hermanus, SA
[MSN News] CAPE TOWN - Dozens of arrests have been made following days of violent protests in Hermanus.

The trouble started on Friday when a group of people tried to occupy a piece of land. When they were prevented from doing so, tensions boiled over. A satellite police station was torched, along with a vehicle.

Over the weekend, protesters also set fire to a library and attacked a recycling site. Ward councillor Lindile Ntsabo says angry community members met with the mayor on Monday night to discuss their grievances.

"They are not receiving the land which they occupied illegally. There is another possibility that they’ll receive something. This will be announced by the mayor."

Meanwhile, in Gauteng, five people were arrested for attempting to occupy land in Midrand. In another incident, a group of Alexandra residents attempted to grab land in Marlboro but was stopped by the police.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to prevent land invasions in the country. The party has also accused the Economic Freedom Fighters of encouraging people to break the law and illegally occupy land.

On Human Rights Day, EFF leader Julius Malema said there’s no human rights without the ownership of land.

"There’s no human rights in a shack, without justice or dignity. Our land in our dignity."

Malema says South Africa needs to understand that land expropriation without compensation is no longer a debate topic but a reality. President Ramaphosa ha said that government will handle the land matter carefully through dialogue.

Wyoming Governor: ‘Doesn't Make Sense' to Release Illegal Immigrants from County Jails
[PJ] WASHINGTON ‐ Wyoming Republican Gov. Matt Mead told PJM that local prisons should not release undocumented immigrants who serve time for committing a crime before Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) can take them into custody for entering the U.S. illegally.

Some local jurisdictions such as Fairfax County have terminated their Intergovernmental Service Agreement (IGSA) with ICE so they do not have to hold known undocumented individuals in prison past their release date for local crimes.

In January, Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan announced housing agreements with sheriffs from certain counties that "allow local law enforcement to detain people living in the country illegally who are in jail on criminal offenses for up to 48 hours past their scheduled release," according to press reports.

Mead said local officials should wait until federal authorities are able to take undocumented persons into custody after they serve their sentence for committing crimes inside the United States.

Giddy Up – DOJ Admits They Have a Grand Jury Empaneled in FBI and DOJ Investigation
BLUF:
[The Last Refuge] There has been a great deal of consternation, directed toward AG Jeff Sessions surrounding the ongoing FISA abuse scandal and the larger issues of unlawful DOJ and FBI conduct in their political investigation of candidate Donald Trump. It is a matter of great division amid people who follow the details. Yet there is overwhelming evidence he assigned a prosecutor to conduct a criminal investigation of the FBI and DOJ "small group" a long time ago. Now we know, with certainty, a GRAND JURY is empaneled.

Britain
Another Grooming Gang: Abuse on ‘Massive Scale’, Men Drugged and Raped Girls in ‘Sh*g Wagon’
There is the hard jihad of the sword, the soft jihad of the law, and the other jihad of rape.
[Breitbart] Seven men have been found guilty of grooming and raping underage girls aged 13 to 17, plying them with drink and drugs and abusing them at sex "parties" and in a van known as the "shag wagon".

The seven-man grooming gang was described as "predatory and cynical" by a judge as the jury announced their decision on Friday following a five-month trial at Oxford Crown Court.

The men, aged between 37 and 48, denied what prosecutors described as "sexual exploitation on a massive scale" ‐ but were found guilty of charges including multiple counts of rape, indecent assault, false imprisonment, and supplying drugs.

Reporting on the gang of what the BBC described as "Oxford men" was previously restricted, and two men involved in the trial still cannot be named for legal reasons.

The guilty men were named as Assad Hussain, 37, of Morrell Avenue; Moinul Islam, 41, of Wykeham Crescent; Raheem Ahmed, 40, of Starwort Path; Kamran Khan, 36, of Kersington Crescent; Kameer Iqbal, 39, of Dashwood Avenue; Alladitta Yousaf, 48, of Bodley Road; and Khalid Hussain, 38, of Ashurst Way.

Two others, Saboor Abdul and Haji Khan, were acquitted of all charges.

Six of the attackers were from Oxford and one from Bolton, Thames Valley Police said. Their five "vulnerable female victims" were aged 13 to 17 when they were abused from 1998 and 2005.

"Systematic and widespread grooming, that is what this case has revealed," remarked Judge Peter Ross, who presided over the trial.

During the trial, the court heard accounts from victims, who said they were pressured into sex, given drink and drugs, and taken to sex "parties". A number also described a van referred to as the "shag wagon" ‐ with a license plate ending ’SHG’ ‐ where attacks and even gang rapes occurred.

Describing the vehicle, a black Nissan Serena people carrier, one victim said: "They would pick the girls, have sex with them, and dump them.

"Everything happened in that Serena," she added, explaining how the men would "take it in turns" to have sex with her at the drug-fueled attacks.

The girls were also taken to a number of addresses around Oxford, as well as guesthouses, cars parks, lay-bys, and local parks for abuse.

"This has been a lengthy and difficult investigation undertaken by Thames Valley Police and the Elmore Team, which has taken place over a significant period of time," commented Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Mark Glover, of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit.

"These convictions would not have been possible without the incredible bravery and ongoing support of the victims.

"This group of men subjected them to an almost unimaginable level of cruelty and sexual abuse over a significant period of time.

"To have come through that trauma, and to have been able to help and support us throughout our investigation is a testament to the strength of their characters.

"I know that nothing will be able to change the damage done to these women’s lives by this group of men, but I hope that these convictions will help them to move forward with their lives."

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service, added: "All of the men have failed to accept any responsibility for their actions, but the jury has carefully sifted and evaluated the evidence and delivered their verdicts."

The men will be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court in June.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rushed to hospital with high fever
[Daily Caller] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was hospitalized Tuesday , apparently suffering from a high fever and severe cough.

Netanyahu was hospitalized Tuesday at Jerusalem's Hadassah Medical Center after his personal physician, Dr. Tzvi Berkowitz, concluded that he had not sufficiently recovered from an illness he had started battling two weeks ago. Berkowitz said the prime minister's condition had worsened.

After performing a series of tests, physicians concluded the prime minister was suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection and will be allowed to recuperate at home.
In other words, he’s fine.
In mid-March, Netanyahu had been homebound, holding government meetings at his private residence. In a statement at that time, the prime minister's office said Netanyahu had contracted strep throat and that Berkowitz had prescribed medications and home rest.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian Army uncovers mass grave in East Ghouta
[ALMASDARNEWS] A mass grave which contains scores of corpses has been unearthed today in the recently-restored suburb of Harasta.

Even though the exact number of bodies are not yet known, it is widely believed that those belong to Syrian Army servicemen killed in the battleground during the few past years.

The Syrian government has taken over Harasta suburb after murderous Moslems of Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
jihadi groups left their bastion to Syria’s north as per an evacuation deal.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
up to 300 murderous Moslems ‐ who were supposed to leave ‐ changed their minds and decided to stay after settling their status.

#1  ...A valid view. On the other hand, it's amazing how many 'national liberation' movements went away when the Soviets cratered and stopped sending money.

End by decree, no. It will take decades to completely right. But when there is no more funding, and no place to run (a LOT of Islamic monsters regularly beat feet for the KSA when the heat started to come down, that's gone away too), a fair amount of the horror will start to fade into the shadows. I never thought I'd say this about a king of Saudi Arabia, but long life and health to him, and confusion to his enemies.

Rape video of minor girl sends shockwaves across Morocco
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A video circulating on social media of a man attempting to rape a minor girl in a public street in Morocco has caused an uproar in the country.

In the video, the man is seen forcibly trying to remove the girl’s clothes and touching her inappropriately as the girl yells "Don’t you have a sister? Would you want someone to do this to her?"

But the man continued with the assault and can be heard laughing as his friend recorded the horrific incident.

The video, which was recorded in an unknown area in Morocco, ended with the girl begging her aggressor to stop in order to at least reach a compromise.

The incident caused outrage among social media users in Morocco who called for the prosecution of the man whose face is visible in the video. The hashtag "Don’t you have a sister" has also become widespread on social media platforms.

Last August, another rape case caused an uproar in Morocco where a group of men raped a mentally disabled girl on a public bus. The men also recorded the crime and posted the video on social media.

Protests had erupted in major cities across the country following the incident calling for an end to rape culture.

Abdelali Errami, the president of Morocco’s Childhood Forum, said that the continuation of these types of incidents is due to a lack of laws that deter these kinds of crimes, as well as the perpetrators only getting punitive punishments. Activist Yasin Hadari also called for the need to "strike with an iron fist in the face of these monsters so they can be an example to others."

Lebanese Shiite cleric expelled from seminary for playing piano
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Moslem holy man has been expelled from his seminary in Leb after a video of his piano playing, posted online, drew criticism from conservatives who felt it was undignified behavior for a man of the cloth, he said.

Shiite Moslem Sayed Hussein al-Husseini, 38, a keen pianist and amateur poet, posted the footage to challenge the traditional image of a holy man.

But the sight of a main in turban and robe performing - even demure classical music - at the piano was a step too far for some.

"I wanted to show that religious study should not be isolated from the world, or from people or from other studies," Husseini told Rooters, saying the al-Thaqalain seminary in Beirut had expelled him, cancelling his stipend. It declined to comment.

Ayatollah Ali Sistani, the highest Shi’ite leader in Iraq, and one revered by many Lebanese, has said that neither the piano nor classical music are prohibited in Islam.

But Husseini has received online criticism and has heard that some religious leaders consider his video as "an insult to the turban".

"I am a music and art lover," social media user jouj_lebiiiiii tweeted. "But it is impossible for me to accept the image of a holy man in a turban playing in front of people. The turban is sacred and I have a right to criticize."

Husseini posted the video earlier in March on his social media account and said that within one hour it was viewed more than 10,000 times.

In addition to the music, Husseini regularly posts love poems he has written. He used to write lyrics for Hezbollah songs, praising the Iran-backed Shi’ite group and its fighters.

"People consider the man of religion as sacred, strange even, someone who cannot be criticized and cannot do wrong," said Husseini who lives with his cat Caesar in Dahieh, Beirut’s southern suburb.

Husseini said he disagreed with the dour image of Moslem holy mans.

"Religious men have been forced into feigning a certain way of behaving. They speak slowly. When they move, they move as if they are in the throes of death, to show that they are spiritual," he said. "This is what people expect."

Afghanistan
More artillery shells fired on Kunar province from other side of Durand Line
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The local officials in eastern Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
are saying that the cross-border shelling from the other side of Durand Line continue as dozens of artillery shells were fired in the latest wave of the shelling.

According to the local security officials, more than 100 artillery shells have landed in various parts of Dangam district in the past 24 hours.

The provincial police front man Faridullah Dehqan confirmed the latest shelling but added that no one was hurt in the shelling.

According to Dehqan, a number of houses and other properties of the local residents have sustained damages in the latest shelling.

This comes as the local officials in Kunar said last week that more than 80 artillery shells landed in Dangam and Nari districts from the other side of the Durand Line.

The Ministry of Defense and the central government officials have not commented in this regard so far.

This comes as the Chief Executive of the Government of National Unity Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
on Saturday shared the issue of cross-border artillery shelling on eastern provinces of Afghanistan during his meeting with Pakistain’s National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan officials had said the border forces have been granted permission to respond to the artillery shelling from the other side of the Durand Line.

PM Abbasi vows to assist CJP Nisar in ‘revamping judicial system of Pakistan’
[DAWN] Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief Justice of Pakistain Mian Saqib Nisar held a rare one-on-one meeting at the Supreme Court on Tuesday evening, DawnNewsTV reported.

According to a statement issued by the apex court, the prime minister vowed to provide all possible assistance in "revamping the judicial system of Pakistain as visualised by the chief justice".

The prime minister was welcomed by the chief justice at the doorstep of the apex court upon his arrival for the meeting, which lasted about two hours.

Abbasi reportedly reached the court without his usual prime ministerial protocol and the meeting was held in the chamber of the chief justice.

"The government will furnish all resources to the judiciary in order to enable it to provide speedy and inexpensive justice, in addition to facilitating easy access of justice to the people," Abbasi was quoted as saying.

He pledged full support for the public interest litigation initiatives undertaken by the chief justice.

"All steps will be taken to materialise the vision of the chief justice with respect to free education, public health, improvements in government hospitals and provision of quality and affordable health services, provision of clean drinking water, better sanitation and protection of environment etc," Abbasi added.

hideout south of the T-2 military airport in Deir Ezzor province.

The combat footage is linked to ongoing festivities between Syrian pro-government forces and ISIS murderous Moslems throughout eastern Syria; the unnamed village shown in the video is reported to be very close to the country’s border with Iraq.

Despite ISIS launching its own attacks against the Syrian Army and allied paramilitary groups across Deir Ezzor province, Syrian forces themselves continue to launch small search-and-destroy operations aimed at weeding-out Islamic State gathering areas.

The Baqir Brigade part of the Syrian Army’s national paramilitary arm ‐ officially called the National Defence Forces. The formation is made up of fighters from the al-Baggara tribe.

Arab tribal uprising in Raqqa sees top US-backed forces intelligence officer assassinated
[ALMASDARNEWS] The recent uprising of al-Bukhamiss rustics from the Syrian Euphrates town of al-Mansura in southern Raqqa province has now seen a US-backed forces intelligence officer assassinated.

According to reports by EMN News, Saleh al-Muhimd, an intelligence officer within the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, was bumped off in the last 24 hours by unknown assailants near al-Mansura.

EMN News has released footage which reportedly shows the corpse of Saleh al-Muhimd after it was discovered. al-Masdar News cannot verify the legitimacy of the video ‐ neither in terms of who recorded it nor what it purports to show.

Several days ago, al-Bukhamiss rustics set fire to tires and blocked checkpoint areas controlled by US-backed forces in the town of al-Mansura; some reports said the rustics were armed, other sources claimed they were demonstrating peacefully only to be fired upon by US-backed forces.

The town had been a Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham for several years before Islamist infighting broke out during early 2018 since which the strategic town has fallen into hands of Jahbat Tahrir Souriya.

Amid wave after wave of counter-attacks over the last fortnight, Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham has inched its way back towards Dart Izza, most recently taking the nearby hilltop of Tal Hammash as part of an assault that absolutely devastated Jahbat Tahrir Souriya’s ranks and has now brought the al-Qaeda affiliate to within striking range of the town.

At the present time, Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham is shelling the positions of enemy forces of Evil around Dart Izza with artillery and heavy machine gun fire. An infantry push may come within the next several hours.

Texas man who allegedly had weapons stockpile in Boston-area hotel says he was on a classified mission
[FoxNews] A Texas man who was arrested Sunday after police said they found a weapons stockpile that included an AK-47, AR-15 and bump stock in his hotel room told investigators that he was on a classified government mission, The Lowell Sun reported.

Francho S. Bradley, 59, and Adrianne D. Jennings, 40, were taken into custody after Bradley called police to the hotel room to report that someone was breaking in. Police responded and found the weapons, the report said.

Bradley called the police while away from the room and informed authorities that he had a firearm in his hotel room.

Tewksbury police noticed rifles and said they later found smoke grenades, walkie talkies, cell phones and dozens of rounds of ammunition. Some of the weapons were reportedly recovered in a nearby vehicle.

Bradley reportedly told investigators about the secret government mission but refused to go into detail. The couple had allegedly driven from Texas to Massachusetts with the weapons.

The report said the couple faces eight counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, three counts of possession of a silencer and other charges including possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a bump stock.

The two are being held without bail after being arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court in connection with a large seizure of weapons.

Robert Normandin, who represented Bradley at the arraignment Monday, told the paper that his client is a veteran and the weapon accessories were “props” and not actually functional. Normandin reportedly said his client uses them as he conducts business.

Authorities are investigating why the couple was staying at the Marriott Residence Inn in Tewksbury, Mass.

Russian Collusion, Clinton $tyle
[National Review] Strolling one afternoon near Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue and West 34th Street, I spotted two tourists with their faces nestled in a map. They looked hopelessly lost.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

Thoroughly flummoxed, they pleaded, "Where’s the Empire State Building?"

I pointed straight up, one block east, and said: "It’s right there!"

Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team resemble those hapless travelers. They scour their visitors’ guide in vain for any trace of Team Trump’s alleged Russian collusion. Meanwhile, just steps away, the Clintons’ Russian-collusion skyscraper soars into the clouds.

In fact, former Trump-campaign aide Sam Nunberg said that Team Mueller asked him if he had heard anyone in Trump Tower speak Russian. Apparently, nyet.

Although they started sniffing around in July 2016, neither the FBI’s bloodhounds nor those of Mueller or Congress have detected a whiff of evidence that ties Trump to Russian collusion. Indeed, the House Intelligence Committee interviewed 70 witnesses and reviewed 300,000 documents before wrapping up its Russiagate inquiry last Thursday. As its final report states, "The Committee found no evidence that meetings between Trump associates ‐ including Jeff Sessions ‐ and official representatives of the Russian government ‐ including [Moscow’s] Ambassador Kislyak ‐ reflected collusion, coordination, or conspiracy with the Russian government."

In contrast, Team Mueller studiously ignores something more conspicuous than the iridescent onion domes atop Red Square’s St. Basil’s Cathedral: Private interests that closed deals with Vladimir Putin and his agents ‐ thanks to then‐secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s public favors ‐ gave the Clinton Foundation between $152 million and $173 million.

Couldn't agree more. Kind of like a construction project in a down economy. If no future work is apparent, the tradespeople tend to slow down, delaying the inevitable layoff. Happened a lot in 2009-2010. Lost a lot of smaller contractors then, too. Couldn't maintain cashflow when the sparse projects didn't complete on schedule (and the banks weren't lending either).

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
3 Gazans with grenades and knives captured near army base 20 kms. inside Israel
[IsraelTimes] Military unsure when armed Paleostinian infiltrators crossed border fence; nearby communities given all-clear

The Israel Defense Forces captured three armed Paleostinians on Tuesday morning after they crossed the Gazoo security fence and traveled approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) into Israeli territory, the army said.

The suspects were found in possession of knives and grenades, the military said. The tools that were apparently used to cut through the fence were also recovered.

A bomb disposal robot was brought to the area to disarm the grenades, police said.

"This was an incident that shouldn’t have happened. We are investigating it and will learn lessons from it," IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis said in a statement, adding that the infiltration could have had dangerous consequences.

The suspects were jugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
outside the Tzeelim army base at 10:35 a.m., approximately an hour and a half after IDF soldiers first spotted signs of infiltration.

An IDF official said the army was unsure when the three men crossed the fence. The army was looking into reports of a suspicious incident that was spotted by military surveillance cameras in the middle of the night, though the official said it may be unrelated.

Paleostinians from the Gazoo Strip regularly try to cross into Israel, but they are generally spotted immediately by soldiers who monitor security cameras and are quickly captured on the Israeli side of the fence.

It was not immediately clear what went wrong on Tuesday. "The circumstances of the incident are being investigated," the army said.

The military handed the suspects over to the Shin Bet security service for questioning in order to determine their motives and any connections to terrorist groups.

While the weapons and the suspects’ efforts to remain undetected indicated ill intent, there have been cases of Gazoo residents entering Israel with weapons in order to be caught and sent to prison, rather than having to continue to live in the beleaguered coastal enclave.

One of the aspects of this case that military Sherlocks are trying to work out is why the suspects didn’t use the weapons at their disposal, even though they had ample opportunity to do so, the army official said.

For instance, at one point, the men were caught on surveillance camera walking by Kibbutz Tzeelim, which is located down the road from the army base. The gate to the community was open, but the men passed by it without entering.

The three suspects, whose names were not immediately released, are all members of the same family from the southern Gazoo city of Rafah, the official said.

After arresting the three men, the IDF notified Israeli communities in the area that the situation was normal and that there was no further need for their security personnel to be on high alert.

Earlier, the army announced that soldiers had spotted signs of infiltration from the southern Gazoo Strip and launched a manhunt.

41 Swedish Citizen Islamic State Fighters Arrested in Syria
[Breitbart] Kurdish forces have tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
41 Swedish citizens in Syria who left Sweden to fight for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
with five being described as high-level members of the terror organization.

Kurdish authorities fighting in Northern Syria revealed that they had captured Swedish citizens or permanent residents, telling Swedish media over the weekend: "Five of them have had key positions within IS. One of them has been responsible for propaganda," Expressen reports.

"We treat well those who we capture, even though they are bully boyz who have murdered innocent people," the Kurdish source told the newspaper.

One of the most famous Swedish Islamic turbans to travel to Syria was former Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
expert Michael Skråmos. A convert to Islam, Skråmos had participated in propaganda for the Islamic State and called on fellow jihadists to carry out attacks in Sweden. His last known location was the former Islamic State capital of Raqqa.

Magnus Ranstorp, one of Sweden’s leading terrorism experts, slammed the government’s slow response in dealing with radical Islamic jihadists who have travelled to the Middle East to fight for Islamic radical groups like the Islamic State.

"We have had a delay effect because we have not had legislation in place. There has been a low level of expertise throughout the chain, both in terms of legislation and prevention," Ranstorp said. So far, around 150 fighters have returned to Sweden from the Middle East and few have been prosecuted under Swedish law.

Swedish Interior Minister Morgan Johansson refused to strip the citizenship of Islamic State fighters last year and Minister for Culture and Democracy Alice Bah Kuhnke suggested the fighters be welcomed back and helped to integrate back into society.

Whether or not Sweden will take back Swedish prisoners from the Kurdish militias is still unknown, though some sources have claimed that low-level talks between the Kurds and the Swedish government are ongoing.

Nasrin Abdullah, a commander of the female branch of the YPG militia, confirmed the talks were happening and argued that Sweden should take back its citizens and bring them to justice.

John Paul Stevens: Repeal the Second Amendment
[NYT] Rarely in my lifetime have I seen the type of civic engagement schoolchildren and their supporters demonstrated in Washington and other major cities throughout the country this past Saturday. These demonstrations demand our respect. They reveal the broad public support for legislation to minimize the risk of mass killings of schoolchildren and others in our society.

That support is a clear sign to lawmakers to enact legislation prohibiting civilian ownership of semiautomatic weapons, increasing the minimum age to buy a gun from 18 to 21 years old, and establishing more comprehensive background checks on all purchasers of firearms. But the demonstrators should seek more effective and more lasting reform. They should demand a repeal of the Second Amendment.

Concern that a national standing army might pose a threat to the security of the separate states led to the adoption of that amendment, which provides that "a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Today that concern is a relic of the 18th century.

For over 200 years after the adoption of the Second Amendment, it was uniformly understood as not placing any limit on either federal or state authority to enact gun control legislation. In 1939 the Supreme Court unanimously held that Congress could prohibit the possession of a sawed-off shotgun because that weapon had no reasonable relation to the preservation or efficiency of a "well regulated militia."

During the years when Warren Burger was our chief justice, from 1969 to 1986, no judge, federal or state, as far as I am aware, expressed any doubt as to the limited coverage of that amendment. When organizations like the National Rifle Association disagreed with that position and began their campaign claiming that federal regulation of firearms curtailed Second Amendment rights, Chief Justice Burger publicly characterized the N.R.A. as perpetrating "one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word fraud, on the American public by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime."

In 2008, the Supreme Court overturned Chief Justice Burger's and others' long-settled understanding of the Second Amendment's limited reach by ruling, in District of Columbia v. Heller, that there was an individual right to bear arms. I was among the four dissenters.

That decision ‐ which I remain convinced was wrong and certainly was debatable ‐ has provided the N.R.A. with a propaganda weapon of immense power. Overturning that decision via a constitutional amendment to get rid of the Second Amendment would be simple and would do more to weaken the N.R.A.'s ability to stymie legislative debate and block constructive gun control legislation than any other available option.

That simple but dramatic action would move Saturday's marchers closer to their objective than any other possible reform. It would eliminate the only legal rule that protects sellers of firearms in the United States ‐ unlike every other market in the world. It would make our schoolchildren safer than they have been since 2008 and honor the memories of the many, indeed far too many, victims of recent gun violence.

#7  By what I've seen of the 'marches' the vast majority of attendees were well-grown ADULTS and not 'schoolchildren' at all. Usually the same crowd who attend the March for Murder Women.

I think they store them (the marchers) in unused warehouses around the Washington DC area.

#8  Proof that news is a lie and the media and Stevens are spreading disinformation.

After in-person scientific sampling of 1700+ in the anti-firearms march, statistics showed that approximately 10% of the crowd were 18 and under. Of the remaining 90%, the average age was 49 years old. The press showed big crowds from a distance, but all the closeups they show were children, to hide the fact that it was 90% older adults.

Statistically this was the same composition as the Mom's March anti-firearms protest, and possibly the pro-life March for Life.

Compare and contrast the coverages between the March for Life and this event - similar sizes, similar enthusiasm. The former get very little if any news mention, and usually some old nuns are shown.

Same sponsors too - Bloomberg, NY City based.

This was not a youth march any more than a oak-colored plastic veneer pressboard table is "solid oak".

The press is lying and misrepresenting things to the public again.

This was purely a propaganda event, no different from the old Soviet Pravda/Isvetiya trash, and the idiocy of the totalitarian Kim family dynasty Potemkin villages in North Korea. And this is our own press, willfully conspiring to push disinformation as truth to achieve their political goals.

When will the press be held accountable for lying to the public in order to promote their political aims? Someone needs to be frog-marched, or strung up for treasonously and deliberately undermining fundamental liberties.

Mainstream media overall circulation numbers continue to trend downward, taking advertising rates and totals with them, resulting in downsizing journalism staffing, while internet news sites are getting nore attention. Nobody will pronounce upon Progressive reporting, it will just continue getting less and less attention, earning less and less money, and supporting fewer and fewer highly paid reporters and all their suport staff, until one day the world will realize the Progressive press went the way of the buggy whip.

Orange County votes to join Trump lawsuit against California!
[AP via Right Scoop] Leaders in Orange County, California, have voted to join a U.S. government lawsuit against the state over its so-called sanctuary law for immigrants living in the U.S. illegally.

By a 3-0 vote, the all-Republican Board of Supervisors decided in closed session Tuesday to take the action.

The vote comes a week after the small Orange County city of Los Alamitos voted to opt out of the state law that limits local police collaboration with federal immigration agents.

California passed the sanctuary law last year to try to protect immigrants from stepped-up deportations under the Trump administration.

The world keeps using more antibiotics and it's making us sick
[PHILLY] Patients with a fever or congested lungs increasingly are being discouraged from taking antibiotics in the United States, and that’s a good thing. Those symptoms often are caused by viruses, in which case antibiotics ‐ which kill bacteria ‐ are the wrong approach.

But a new study finds that although antibiotics use has declined somewhat in the U.S., the nation remains the leading user of the drugs worldwide, with 3.3 billion doses administered in 2015. As many as one-third of these doses are thought to have been inappropriate, leading to the rise of "superbugs" ‐ bacteria that develop resistance to the medicines.

And in many countries, antibiotics use is increasing, the study authors reported Monday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

From 2000 to 2015, antibiotics use per person jumped by 39 percent in a sample of 76 countries, the researchers found. The total number of doses consumed climbed even more, by 65 percent.

Some of that growth likely was beneficial, as it represented increased access to treatment in lower-income countries whose fortunes were improving, said lead author Eili Y. Klein, a fellow at the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics and Policy, a nonprofit research institute in Washington.

But too often, antibiotics are deployed against infections that would be better addressed with preventive measures such as sanitation, said Klein, also an assistant professor of emergency medicine and epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University.

Al Sharpton’s half-brother charged in murder after marching against guns
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The half-brother of civil rights hustler Al-Sharpton
...Tawana Brawley's spiritual advisor...
, also an activist whose group participated in Saturday’s anti-gun March For Our Lives, has been charged in a Sunday shooting death in Dothan, Ala.

Dothan police said that Rev. Kenneth Glasgow was the driver in a car linked to the murder of 23-year-old Breunia Jennings of Dothan by passenger Jamie Townes, 26.

Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish said that Glasgow and Townes allegedly searched for Jennings, who they believe had stolen Townes’ car. When they found her, Townes allegedly shot Jennings as she drove, hitting her in the head. She died later.

"Instead of him notifying law enforcement, he took matter in his own hands and jumped in Mr. Glasgow's vehicle to find Breunia Jennings," said Parrish, according to a report in the Dothan Eagle.

While police do not believe Glasgow, 52, was the triggerman, under Alabama’s aiding and abetting law, he is is culpable for murder.

Sharpton and Glasgow have been activists on projects together. Glasgow is an ex-convict who started an Alabama ministry called The Ordinary People Society. He has recently been campaigning to restore voting rights for convicts.

The Sad, Sad Case Of The Deported Vet With Two Combat Tours Isn't Particularly Sad
[Red State] There is a saying that bad facts make for bad law, but sometimes bad facts just show that you’re defending the indefensible.

For the past several months, a guy named Miguel Perez has been a cause célèbre for the anti-deportation-of-immigrant-felons caucus. From Senator Tammy Duckworth:

Duckworth rant deleted here. Moving down to facts.

Unfortunately, Duckworth really doesn’t have a leg to stand on in making this argument.

Perez entered the country legally at age 8. He had the opportunity to naturalize at age 18 and elected not to do so. I don’t know whether it was a conscious decision or indifference or ignorance but he didn’t need to serve in the military to become a U. S. citizen.

The executive order Duckworth refers to has a key word. Honorably. Perez received a general discharge for drug use.

Then Perez’s troubles really started.
Emphasis added.

37 State Attorneys General Demand Answers From Zuckerberg In Data Harvesting Scandal
[ZH] Thirty-seven "profoundly concerned" U.S. state and territory attorneys general fired off a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Monday, demanding answers over reports that personal user information from Facebook profiles was provided to third parties without the users' knowledge or consent.

"Most recently, we have learned from news reports that the business practices within the social media world have evolved to give multiple software developers access to personal information of Facebook users. These reports raise serious questions regarding consumer privacy"

The letter notes the 50 million Facebook profiles which may have been "misused and misappropriated by third-party software developers," noting that Facebook "took as much as 30%" of payments made through applications used by Facebook users.

"According to these reports, Facebook’s previous policies allowed developers to access the personal data of "friends" of people who used applications on the platform, without the knowledge or express consent of those "friends." It has also been reported that while providing other developers access to personal Facebook user data, Facebook took as much as thirty (30) percent of payments made through the developers’ applications by Facebook users."

n other words - while a Facebook user may have agreed in the fine print to allowing the social media giant to hoover up their information - their "friends" did not.

It can not be released to third parties regardless of consent forms for use other than positive identification of the individual, and then only the minimal amount necessary. So simple, but watch how desperately those involved would obstruct that. Cause there is money and power to be made.

New evidence crushes rape-accused Tariq Ramadan’s alibi
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The organizers of a conference attended by Swiss-born academic Tariq Ramadan have contradicted his statement that he was on a plane to the event at the time a woman accused him of rape.

Yassine Djemal from the Union of Young Moslems, which organized the September 2009 conference, said he was the one who picked Ramadan up from the airport.

"Mr Ramadan was scheduled to arrive in Lyon on October 9, 2009 at 11:15am. A colleague and I picked him up at the airport at around 11:35," Yassine Djemal told Sherlocks, according to the AFP news agency.

Ramadan’s first lawyers - who later withdrew from the case ‐ had earlier produced an airline ticket indicating that Ramadan had only landed in Lyon at 6:35pm.

But during a court hearing in La Belle France, Djemal said Ramadan’s office had requested in a second e-mail that he’d arrive on an earlier flight.

He added that they subsequently dropped off the Islamic academic at the Hilton hotel where the woman says the rape allegedly took place.

The Swiss scholar was imprisoned in February over rape allegations in La Belle France, wherein two women’s complaints led to a criminal investigation last October. A third rape allegation was filed in February.

In addition, Ramadan is accused of having had inappropriate relations with several students whilst teaching at a Geneva-area school. The institution has launched an investigation.

Ramadan denies all allegations against him.

Earlier this year, Ramadan’s lawyers claimed he was suffering from multiple sclerosis and had requested his release under bail.

But a medical report found his health to be compatible with his detention and the request was denied.

Ramadan’s wife has now called for a second medical report and a judge is expected to announce its findings on April 15.

Mattis Dispels Rumors He'll Find It Hard to Work with Bolton: 'Last Time I Checked, He's an American'
[Townhall] Secretary of Defense James Mattis dispelled reports Tuesday that he was apprehensive about working with President Trump’s incoming National Security Advisor John Bolton.

"I'll tell you right up front, it's going to be a partnership, we are going to go forward," Mattis told reporters during a news conference at the Pentagon.

When asked about his differing world views with Bolton, Mattis responded, "I hope that there's some different world views. That's the normal thing you want unless you want group think."

Mattis acknowledged that the two hadn’t met yet but said Bolton was coming to the Pentagon later this week for discussions.

"We are going to sit down together and I look forward to working with him," Mattis said.

He emphasized that he had no reservations about Bolton’s appointment.

"No reservations, no concerns at all," he said. "Last time I checked he's an American. I can work with an American, OK? So I'm not the least bit concerned with that sort of thing."

S. Korean Military Blasted for Lunacy
[KCNAWATCH.CO] Minju Joson Tuesday comments on the south Korean military's recent announcement that New OPLAN different from OPLAN 5015 targeted against the north was worked out.

The paper says:

New OPLAN, the keynote of which is to "win war by taking the smallest toll in the shortest time," is aimed at completely neutralizing the leadership and strategic targets of the DPRK in a few hours through the aerial infiltration by special unit forces of the south Korean army, the sea infiltration by marine corps and missile attack by the task force brigade newly built under the missile command at the beginning of war.

To this end, the south Korean military is now examining a plan to secure more than 2 600 missiles of various missions earlier than the set time in a bid to "reduce the north to ashes" at the beginning of all-out war.

The massive arms build-up and military tension racket by the south Korean military are an extremely dangerous move as it openly revealed their intention to stand against the north by force of arms to the last like the conservative regime.

Dialogue and confrontation, peace and war can not go together.

Nevertheless, they are pursuing a sinister military confrontation under the eyes of the north, which clearly proves that they seek an ulterior aim while paying lip-service to the "dialogue" and "peace".

We declare that whoever misjudges our goodwill and tolerance and provokes us by force of arms is bound to face terrible ruin and merciless punishment.

Qatari Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy on Counterterrorism and Mediation in Disputes’ settlements ambassador Dr Mutlaq bin Majed al-Qahtani headed the country’s delegation during the meeting.

Participating delegations discussed ways to strengthen international co-operation in the area of counter-terrorism and ways to operationalise the forum’s initiatives.

Qatar stressed its support for these initiatives, stressing the importance of constructive co-operation without politicising the efforts.

During the meeting, Qatar presented its point of view in the fight against terrorism and extremism from a regional perspective, stating that most of the root causes of the conflicts related to terrorism and extremism in the Middle East belonged to sectarian differences, regional rivalry and ongoing conflicts in Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Qatar further stressed that the real war on terror is not the defeat of ISIS in Iraq and Syria militarily, it is to establish social norms to ensure peaceful coexistence, democracy, equal opportunities and political integration.

Qatar considers that suffering and injustice paves the way for terrorism to flourish, in addition to the murderous Moslem religious doctrines that posed a threat to all, it is a sign that these murderous Moslem ideologies exist in all cultures and are not exclusive to Islam.

France Wrestles Once Again with How to Counter Salafists' Sway
[AnNahar] As La Belle France prepares to honor a policeman killed in the latest attack by a homegrown jihadist, debate has again flared over how to counter the influence of radical Salafist interpretations of Islam, with some officials urging an outright ban.

plans to strike Iraqi cities to hunt for PKK elements, stressing that the approval of the federal government in Iraq is necessary to carry out military operations.

"Turkey respects Iraq’s illusory sovereignty and will never commit any violation on its territories," Yildirim reiterated.

Yildirim also praised "Abadi’s positive decisions to open Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports in the Kurdistan region and to pay salaries of the Kurdish people."

Abadi, meanwhile, stressed that Iraq will not allow any party to attack Turkey from Iraqi territories.

"Iraqi security forces are now assuming control of all Iraqi cities," he said, revealing that he gave directives to Iraqi troops to tighten their grip on Iraqi borders to prevent any foreign troops from infiltrating into Iraq.

The two premiers also discussed issues of mutual concern, as well as means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, electricity and trade.

Kirkuk Combat Chronicle: big turban engineer bound, tribal type killed, cops kill 6 turbans

Iraqi security arrest Islamic State’s ambushing engineer in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces on Tuesday arrested an Islamic State member who, they claim, was behind several ambushes in which security personnel had been killed in the latest period.

Alsumaria News quoted a security source saying that “security forces arrested 11 Islamic State terrorists, including Abu Suleiman al-Afri, who had been responsible for erecting fake checkpoints on the Kirkuk-Baghdad road”.

The source, who asked not to be named, said troops found maps and drafts of attack schemes for the group.

Iraqi tribal fighter killed in Islamic State attack in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants killed a tribal fighter in an overnight attack in Kirkuk province, a security source was quoted saying on Tuesday.

A member of the so-called “Tribal Mobilization” forces was killed by the militants when they staged an attack on his patrol in Bajwan village, northwest of the province. Three other fighters were wounded in the assault, the source revealed.

Spanish Proactivia Open Arms’ chiefs face jail in Italy
[LIBYANEXPRESS] Gerard Canals, operation officer at the NGO Proactiva Open Arms, is not afraid of jail, reported the EUobserver.

Earlier this month, the NGO helped save more than 200 people from drowning in the central Mediterranean.

"I may go to prison but I am not really worried because we did nothing wrong," he told EUobserver on Tuesday (27 March) in Brussels.

Canals, along with the captain of the NGO rescue ship, as well as the head of the mission, face 15 year prison sentences and millions of euros in fines for their actions, according to the NGO.

The chief prosecutor of Catania, Carmelo Zuccaro, has accused them of trafficking for having refused to hand people rescued over to the Libyans, according to EUobserver.

The Spanish boat had plucked the people, including children, some 73 nautical miles off the Libyan coast, well outside Libyan territorial waters, after receiving a rescue distress signal from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Rome.

African Horn Org. chief: Qatar using extremist group to sabotage Eritrea
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A top Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
n diplomat has told Al Arabiya English that the statement of the Eritrean Foreign Ministry on the Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
i threat to Asmara came after "patiently waiting for a period of time for the Qatari brothers who have been trying in recent years to add Eritrea to the list of candidate countries for sabotage."

In statements given to Al Arabiya English, Abdul Kadir Bekri Hamdan, president of the African Horn Organisation and the representative of Eretria to international organizations in the Austrian capital Vienna, added that Qatar’s attempts to destabilize his country have been ongoing for a while.

"It is no different from its ready-made recipe to other countries that have been revealed, starting with polarizing people and then opening the door to them in their media in Qatar and abroad," Hamdan said.

He pointed out that it was interesting that during the late months of last year, there was a focus on some Eritrean figures who are connected with the Moslem Brüderbund organization and who are known for their criticism of Asmara and its policies and also their close relations with Doha-based hardline holy man Yusuf al-Qaradawi
...crackpot Egyptian Islamist theologian. He is best known for his program Shariah and Life on Al Jazeera, with an estimated audience of 60 million kindred souls worldwide. He is also well-known for IslamOnline, which occasionally advocates things like slavery and thumping the old lady with a rod no thicker than an inch, and has published more than 120 books, including Islam: The Future Civilization. Joe has long had a prominent role within the intellectual leadership of the Moslem Brüderbund. Some of his views have been controversial in the West, though less so among the rubes of the Mysterious East, and he was refused entry to the United Kingdom in 2008. In 2004, 2,500 Muslim academics from Saudi Arabia, Iraq and from the Palestinian territories condemned Qaradawi, and accused him of giving Islam a bad name....
.
He said that the campaign intensified against the backdrop of a government decision to close a school suspected of encouraging holy warrior ideology. "Now it seems that Doha has decided to go to the second stage of its plan by making false reports through its media to find an excuse to justify the formation of an anti-Eritrean group led by the same people who have clear and established relations with Qatar and al-Qaradawi."

The Eritrean government released a statement accusing Qatar of sending Sudan three fighter planes to thwart a purported attack from Eritrea, and of secretly funding an Eritrean Islamist opposition office in an isolated area in Sudan.

In the statement, the Eritrean government said that Qatar is funding supporters of the radical Islamist holy man, Mohammed Jumma, who opened an office in an unknown area in Sudan.

#1  SCOTUS already ruled you got to count them for apportionment. However once you extended the data collection beyond simple headcount and started including everything, to include the kitchen sink, you sort of lost the excuse of what not to include. Still be a good test of the judiciary for the purge during/after the civil war.

#3  Ironically, it is the same question that the founders had when dealing with slavery. The slave holders wanted the slaves to be fully counted because it gave their states greater political pull. The non-slave ones didn't want non-citizens to cause their owners to have more political pull than they normally would. Hence the 3/5 rule.

We are looking at the same thing here. Illegals shouldn't be able to vote (but they do) and pulling the population down in the slave sanctuary states costs them political power and federal funds while the law abiding states down want them to have more power and to suck more of their tax money away.

Last time we fought a civil war over this.

Illegals were neither brought here as property or afforded legal status beyond what was provided if they entered through the front door, and no status of any kind if they entered like the thieves they are. Mehar tribesmen stage protest in Islamabad, demand arrest of PPP lawmaker over involvement in murder
[DAWN] The family of a trio killed in Sindh's Mehar area arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday, demanding the arrest of Pakistain People's Party MPA Nawab Sardar Ahmed Chandio.

Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
They staged a protest outside the press club, and asked the Supreme Court and chief justice to take notice of the matter.

The protesters tried to meet the Leader of the Opposition Khursheed Shah, who was also present at the press club, but the PPP politician's security did not let them through.

On January 17, armed assailants had attacked the house of Raees Karamullah Chandio, the chairman of Baldai union council, killing him and his two sons, Mukhtiar and Qabil (a district council member).

Chandio, his sibling Nawab Burhan Chandio and five other suspects were booked for their alleged involvement in the deadly incident, however, the MPA and his brother's names were later struck down from the First Information Report citing a lack of evidence.

The FIR had been registered after great efforts by the bereaved family as both the victims and suspects belonged to the PPP, due to which the Mehar police and Dadu district police had appeared reluctant to make any arrests.

Area people and some Chandio rustics had attributed the clash to an old land dispute between the two sides.

Biggest Convoy Yet Evacuates Rebel Pocket of Syria's Ghouta
[AnNahar] The largest convoy yet of rebel fighters and civilians evacuated from Eastern Ghouta arrived Tuesday in northwestern Syria, further emptying the onetime opposition bastion.

Government troops, backed by Russia and loyalist militia, launched a ferocious assault more than a month ago to retake the enclave on the outskirts of Damascus.

They have recaptured more than 90 percent of it and are draining the last rebel-held pockets through negotiated withdrawals brokered by Russia.

Two such deals have already seen thousands of rebels, their relatives and other civilians bused out of bombed-out Ghouta districts to Idlib, a northwestern province most of which still escapes government control.

The largest numbers have quit the towns of Arbin and Zamalka, and the adjacent district of Jobar, all controlled by the Faylaq al-Rahman Islamist faction.

The group reached a deal with Moscow on Friday and its implementation began the following morning with nearly 1,000 people boarding buses and leaving.

The numbers have grown steadily since, with the biggest convoy yet departing in the early hours of Tuesday with more than 6,700 people aboard.

They arrived Tuesday afternoon to the Qalaat al-Madiq area of central Hama province, a staging ground frequently used in such deals, AFP's correspondent there said.

That convoy brought the total number of evacuees from areas under Faylaq al-Rahman's control to 13,165 people.

The group's front man, Wael Alwan, has said as many as 30,000 people could be evacuated in all.

The evacuations were continuing on Tuesday, with more than a dozen buses entering the Faylaq-controlled pocket, said state news agency SANA.

Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
The Scourge of Hama...
has used such evacuation agreements to recover swathes of territory since the uprising against his rule began seven years ago this month.

They have usually begun with the military encirclement of an area, followed by bombardment and a ground operation before a deal is reached.

Iraqi man who attacked Emirati driver in London: ‘I’m crazy and proud of it’
Yes, these are the kind of people we want to import, because they add so much to the culture.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Iraqi man has been charged with assault and criminal damage after an Emirati driver was attacked and a luxury car was vandalized with "war" slogans in London.

Adnan Musa Basim, 24, faced magistrates on Monday after his arrest on Saturday, according to British media reports.

A video circulated on social media of an Emirati man, named Abdullah al-Hosani, being assaulted while in his Mercedes G-class SUV.

The video shows a man wearing army-patterned pants and a hoodie quickly walking over to the car, and grabbing Hosani out through the window of the driver’s seat where he was sitting while repeatedly punching him on the head.

The same masked assailant was vandalizing Hosani’s other car which was parked on the side of the road moments before the violent attack, writing on the hood and trunk of the other white Mercedes ’WAR’.

On social media, Basim identifies himself as a "crazy young man and very proud of it."

He writes on his Instagram that he is "private and nice but you don’t like the hulk when he’s angry" and that he tries "to inspire the lost and crazy people."

Hosani told the Emarat al-Youm website that the attacker threatened to kill him, saying: "I will slaughter you."

"I looked at him in surprise, and then grabbed him as I was sitting in my seat, after which he continuously hit me using the spray can that he had in his hand," Hosani said.

Hosani said that he had no idea what the motive behind the attack was, but that he thinks it is related to racism.
You, my dear Mr. Hosani, are an Arab. The man who attacked you is a slightly different kind of Arab. You both are of the same Causasian race. His hatefulness is merely hateful, nothing more.
Hosani, who teaches business administration at a university in London, said that two Lebanese men who worked at a nearby restaurant rushed to his rescue and surrounded the attacker until the police came.

He added that this is not the first incident of cars belonging to Gulf nationals being vandalized. He told the news site that on the same morning of the incident, he saw a vandalized Maybach that belonged to a Saudi man.

Following the attack, and after the video was shared several times on Twitter, Hosani took to social media to assure people that he was fine, and only suffered a few scratches on his head.

Home Front: Politix
Trump, Putin and the disturbed left!
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Just when US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
overcomes a problem, or thinks he has, the leftist media creates another! It looks like this media’s sole aim is to annoy Trump rather than seek the truth. So far, no one has been able to prove that Trump had anything to do with the issue of Russian interference in the US elections.

Trump definitely makes mistakes as for instance he unjustifiably insists that he can defeat the brutal American media. A prudent politician knows pretty well the importance of appeasing the media, at least relatively, especially since all politicians make mistakes and it’s the media’s role to highlight them and exaggerate them. No politician can defeat the media, no matter how popular and distinctive he is. Most politicians are aware of this and deal with the media accordingly.

These days, the US media is talking about Trump’s intention to dismiss Robert Mueller, the head of the Special Counsel investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 elections. Trump, however, has said he does not intend to dismiss Mueller. Trump is certainly not friends with Mueller. It’s also certain that Mueller is not completely neutral in his investigations. Trump, however, knows that dismissing Mueller would be a real dangerous step as it would be interpreted as an obstruction of justice, which is a red line that might have drastic consequences.

I have no doubt that the leftist media, Trump’s vicious enemy led by CNN and the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, wishes that Trump dismisses Mueller as this provides them with rich material which they can skillfully exaggerate to achieve their bigger dream to overthrow Trump. That’s why the media keeps provoking Trump about his intention to dismiss Mueller!

Ironically, the US left, the traditional alliance of all the socialist political regimes around the world, is currently criticizing Trump because he congratulated Russian President Putin for winning the presidential elections few days ago. The left argues that Putin won in a dictatorial way, thus he does not deserve to be congratulated!

It’s such a strange irony that the ideologized left is more concerned about hostility towards Russia than the Republican right-wing! The Republican right-wing, to which Trump belongs, was the first one to opt for escalation towards Russia. It actually hasn’t been a long time since the Star Wars program was initiated under President Ronald Reagan.

In conclusion, Trump’s opponents would find thousands of ways to attack him, even if they have to give up their solid principles, as seen in their current hostile position towards Russia. We do not know what the next case which the leftist media will promote against Trump will be but it will not be difficult for it to come with something up!

Family of man killed in Sharea Faisal ‘encounter’ accuses police of ‘committing murder’
[DAWN] The family of the man, who was killed in alleged crossfire between police and suspected robbers in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
in January, have raised objection over the handling of the case, accusing police of "committing murder in broad daylight".

Talking to media on Tuesday, the family of Maqsood Mohammed, accompanied by social activist and lawyer Jibran Nasir, said that the challan
... list of charges ...
submitted by the police before the court has revealed many things.

Nasir drew the attention of media persons towards the fact that the police firing had not only resulted in the death of Maqsood "but also that of the suspected robbers".

He said, "Police have committed murder in broad daylight," and demanded that the CCTV footage of the incident be made public.

According to Nasir, the CCTV footage clearly shows that there was no attempt by the robbers to stop the rickshaw.

"The robbers reportedly pretended that their vehicle had been in an accident, and on the pretext of rushing to the hospital they tried to get away on the rickshaw Maqsood had been travelling in," said Nasir.

The police then "took pursuit of the rickshaw in a private car and cornered it, dragged the men out, sat them on the road and shot them," the lawyer claimed.

Nasir alleged that eyewitness accounts were coerced and requested that they should be recorded again. He urged that the matter should be investigated by "coppers with clean records".

The lawyer accused ASI Tariq of murdering Maqsood and called for a departmental investigation to be conducted in the matter. He further revealed that police have admitted that the robbers were not armed.

He demanded that bail given to police officials involved in the case be cancelled and a case should be registered against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

ISIS killer carried out supermarket rampage after he was summoned to meet anti-terror cops
[DailyMail] The ISIS gunman who killed four people in La Belle France last week had been summoned to meet anti-terror police shortly before his shooting rampage, it has emerged.

Radouane Lakdim, a Moroccan-born French national, had been on a list of suspected bandidos snuffies since 2014 and was being monitored, sparking criticism of the country's security services.

The 25-year-old killed four people and injured four others on Friday in three separate shootings in the towns of Carcassonne and Trebes, where he took hostages at a supermarket before being rubbed out by police.

A police source has since revealed Lakdim had been sent a letter in March asking him to arrange a face-to-face meeting with agents from La Belle France's domestic intelligence agency DGSI.

Since the violence on Friday, police have placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
Lakdim's 18-year-old girlfriend, a radicalised Moslem convert, as well as a 17-year-old friend.

A French prosecutor said yesterday that the girlfriend is a radicalised convert to Islam and that she shouted 'holy shit! Allahu akbar' or 'God is Great', when she was arrested.

The woman told Sherlocks that she converted to Islam when she was 16. She denied 'having been informed and associated with the deadly project of her boyfriend,' Gay Paree Prosecutor Francois Molins said during a news conference.

But Molins said the girl posted online a Koran verse 'indicating that infidels were promised to hell' just a few hours before the attacks.

Molins said Lakdim had been listed on a police register for radicalized people since 2014 because of its suspected links with the local Salafist circles. He was still under an ongoing and effective intelligence monitoring in the days leading up to the attacks, the prosecutor said.

But the surveillance didn't allow police to detect any warning signs that he was going to commit a violent action or any intention to go to Iraq or Syria, Molins said. When he was tossed in the calaboose
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
in 2016, the prison administration noticed no visible sign of radicalisation.

Never-Before-Seen [Breeding Management] Behavior in Orcas Surprises Scientists
[Newser] Researchers see the first known case of infanticide among killer whales and it makes for a grim discovery. Following strange calls from orcas off the northeastern coast of British Columbia's Vancouver Island in December, researchers observed the first known case of infanticide among the whales. After tracking down the orcas and hearing a ruckus in the water, the scientists spotted a male orca with a newborn calf in its mouth, being chased by the calf's mother and other members of its family. As the male's mother attempted to intervene, the calf's mother "hit the male so hard that ... his blubber was shaking on his body and you could see blood flying through the air," ecologist Jared Towers tells the CBC. "We were really quite horrified and fascinated."

#4  In wild prides of lions, dominant males will kill cubs born of other males. They can smell their own bloodline, and when in doubt, you loose. This has been known for over a hundred years.
Sounds like the 'Researchers' forgot that nature doesn't care about SJW rules. In nature, winning is the only thing that counts.

Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy sues Qatar over email hack
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy sued Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
on Monday, accusing it of trying to discredit him by stealing and leaking emails that detailed his contacts with the Trump administration and the United Arab Emirates.

The Wall Street Journal reported that "sccording to Broidy’s lawsuit, Qatar’s representatives identified him as an impediment to their plan to improve the country’s standing in Washington, and developed an effort to discredit him. The lawsuit is filed against the state of Qatar and one of the country’s Washington-based lobbyists, Nick Muzin, of Stonington Strategies."

The report cites the lawsuit as saying: "This is a case about a hostile intelligence operation undertaken by a foreign nation" against American citizens "who have spoken out against that country’s support for terrorism and who have entered into significant business relationships relating to defense and counterterrorism with a rival nation."

Legal representatives for Broidy, a prominent Republican fundraiser and philanthropist, had earlier informed Qatari leaders that they had uncovered forensic evidence tying the Qatari government to a massive hack on Broidy that led to a series of damaging stories in the US press.

"We now possess irrefutable forensic evidence tying Qatar to this unlawful attack on, and espionage directed against, a prominent US citizen within the territory of the United States," Lee Wolosky, a lawyer from the legal team Boies Schiller Flexner, wrote to Qatari Al Thani family’s member Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani. "We have made aware, or are in the process of making aware, relevant US authorities, including US counterintelligence authorities."

Seattle-Area Man Arrested in Mailing 'Potential Destructive' Packages to D.C. Installations
[PJ] WASHINGTON -- The FBI has taken a Seattle-area man into custody in connection with five packages containing possibly "destructive devices" that were sent to sensitive military and intelligence installations in and near D.C.

Thanh Cong Phan, 43, of Everett, Wash., was arrested at his home Monday and was scheduled to make his first court appearance this afternoon.

Packages were received Monday at Fort Belvoir, Va., Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, D.C., the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Dahlgren, Va., and the Central Intelligence Agency at Langley, Va.

The packages are being analyzed at the FBI lab in Quantico, Va.; initial investigation "determined that the packages contained potential destructive devices and appeared to be sent by the same individual from the Seattle, Washington, area." Officials said there was no apparent link to terrorism.

"The joint investigation with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service continues at this time. It is possible that further packages were mailed to additional mail processing facilities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The FBI takes all suspicious packages seriously and has been coordinating with our local, state, and federal partners on established protocols of how to handle suspicious packages," the FBI's Washington field office said. "The FBI continues to advise the public to remain vigilant and not touch, move, or handle any suspicious or unknown packages."
The Seattle Times adds:
The packages were similarly designed and contained black powder along with rambling, nonsensical notes similar to those the man has been known to send in the past, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation and did so on condition of anonymity.

Roughly a dozen packages were sent Monday to sites including Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling and Fort Lesley J. McNair in the district; at Fort Belvoir, in Virginia; the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, in Dahlgren, Virginia; and the CIA. No injuries were reported, and the FBI said each package was collected for further analysis.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told news hounds on Tuesday that that all of the packages sent to Defense Department facilities are under the control of the federal authorities.
The Daily Mail adds:
Phan has a prior criminal record, having been jugged
Please don't kill me!
in 2011 near Woodland, Washington, the Daily Democrat reported.

He was apprehended after stealing a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo from a gas station in Redding in May, 2011. Police there put out a 'lookout' alert for the car, and he was arrested at 7.30am on the 23rd after a police chase.

Phan was charged with unlawfully taking a vehicle and felony evading.

At one point Phan also called into the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Highway Patrol to tell officers he had killed his brother, who was contacted and confirmed to still be alive.
