Orlando nightclub shooter's father was a secret FBI informant
[FoxNews] The Orlando nightclub terrorist's dad
...sonny boy was Omar Mateen, the Afghan-American who preferred ISIS to the Constitution and believed the vicious nonsense Pops spewed on his radio show...
was a secret FBI informant for more than a decade, prosecutors revealed, prompting questions about whether authorities may have missed warning signs leading up to the massacre.

The news, disclosed Saturday to lawyers representing the Pulse nightclub shooter's wife, Noor Salman, in her own terrorism case related to the attack, also led to immediate calls by the defense for a mistrial.

Stormy Tells All to 60 Minutes
Moved to Home Front: Politics and P.6: Seedy Politics because the only reason this woman is getting a hearing, and getting it now, is to blacken President Trump’s name with presumably strait-laced Republican voters after nothing else worked.
[CBSNews] A week and a half before the 2016 election, Donald Trump's personal attorney paid a porn star named Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about her alleged relationship with the Republican candidate for president. Today, that arrangement is well on its way to becoming the most talked-about "hush agreement" in history, with potential legal and political implications for the president. Through his spokesman, Mr. Trump has denied having an affair with Stormy Daniels, and his lawyers are now threatening her with financial ruin, saying she has to pay $1 million dollars every time she violates her agreement to stay silent. But that didn't stop her from coming on 60 Minutes.

"Because people are just saying whatever they wanted to say about me, I was perfectly fine saying nothing at all, but I'm not okay with being made out to be a liar, or people thinking that I did this for money and people are like, "Oh, you're an opportunist. You're taking advantage of this."
The payoff violated campaign contribution laws -
What makes the dispute between Stormy Daniels and the president more than a high-profile tabloid scandal is that her silence was purchased eleven days before the presidential election, which may run afoul of campaign finance laws. The president's long-time lawyer Michael Cohen says he used $130,000 of his own money to pay Stormy Daniels. Cohen has said the money was not a campaign contribution. But Trevor Potter, a former chairman of the Federal Election Commission appointed by President George H.W. Bush, told us he doesn't agree.

#3  Abu,
Trump is better. Even if her story is true, he didn't rape her; nobody had an abortion; and talking about one woman one time.

The crucial point is the more the liberals talk about this long ago incident, the less they have to talk about what's happening in the economy.

#4  Nobody cares despite her bringing this up weekly for some time...

Since the story is not gaining traction they move on to Plan B: Insinuate that because of the timing a billionaire might have paid her out of campaign finances instead of out of his own pocket.

Since she's so brave going against the Hush Agreement has she shown any of the documents to the world? Cancelled checks? Any proof?

Egypt hosts conference for reconstruction of devastated areas in Iraq
Good luck guys.
Cairo (Iraqinews.com) ‐ Egypt is scheduled to host on Sunday an exhibit and conference in support of Iraq’s reconstruction under the auspices of the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
According to Alforat News, Iraqi Ambassador in Cairo Habib al-Sadr welcomed the promising investments scheduled to be offered at the exhibit "after the great victory the country achieved over the terrorist Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group."

Sadr stressed that his country will put forward about 212 investment opportunities at the gathering. He further extended his thanks to the Egyptian companies for their contributions to reconstruct Iraq and transfer their successful expertise to the Iraqi market.

"Iraq is entering a new phase characterized by security stability, blooming economy and social harmony," he said, adding that Iraq, under these circumstances, is ready to make use of its natural resources and youth capabilities to start the reconstruction process.

Kuwait hosted an international donors conference for the reconstruction of Iraq after the damage sustained during the war against Islamic State snuffies since 2014. At the end of the conference, Iraq had acquired nearly USD30 billion, much less than a previously projected USD100 billion.

The war against IS had displaced nearly five million people both inside and outside the country, and dealt a severe damage to the country’s infrastructure.

Doha Releases Terror List Comprised Mostly of Qataris
[AAWSAT] Gulf States boycotting Doha said Thursday that a released Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
i terror list that includes the names of 19 individuals and 8 entities was not a sufficient move to fight terrorism.

Head of the Egyptian parliament's foreign affairs committee, Tarek Radwan told Asharq al-Awsat on Thursday: "Qatar’s decision is self-evident. It is not considered a positive step."

Also, several observers said Qatar’s move was only a "procedural development," dismissing the decision to place some entities, such as Egypt’s Wilayat Sinai, on the list.

Egypt’s Second Deputy Chairman of Human Rights Committee Margaret Azer told Asharq al-Awsat that Doha may have realized it might also be affected by terrorism, and therefore took this move as a preventive measure.

"Qatar is a small country that lacks the necessary capabilities to confront other states," she added.

On Thursday, Qatar placed 11 Qataris, two Saudis, four Egyptians and two Jordanians on a terror list.

The list was published Wednesday on the website of the Qatari National Committee to Combat Terrorism that is affiliated with the Qatari Interior Ministry. The list is based on a law on "combating terrorism" issued last July by the country’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Qatari move came nine months after Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, known as the "Anti-Terror Quartet", had imposed travel, diplomatic and trade sanctions on Qatar in June 2017, accusing it of financing terrorism, meddling in the affairs of Arab states and being involved with Iran.

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash wrote on his Twitter account that 10 of the individuals on the list were already included in three of the terror lists issued by the quartet. He said the list has proven that Doha supports terrorism.

"Apart from its obstinacy, Qatar is confirming the evidence against it and that its support for extremism and terrorism is at the heart of its crisis," the Emirati minister wrote.

The Libyan killer who defied UN, ICC and international laws
[LIBYANEXPRESS] A camera on set, masked fighters surrounding the scene of the crime, automatic guns in hands, military vehicles and dead calm on the background are all it takes for producing a Hollywood-style or rather an ISIS-style mass execution of captives by the Libyan eastern big shot of the self-styled army of Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
; Mahmoud al-Werfalli.

Mahmoud al-Werfalli carried out on Wednesday a new extrajudicial executions ceremony of ten prisoners who appeared on tape wearing blue, blindfolded with their hands tied to their backs.

On August 15, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for al-Werfalli for the war crime of murder. He is wanted by the court for his alleged role in the killing of 33 people in seven incidents that took place in and around Benghazi between June 2016 and July 2017.

The ICC prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, has a mandate to investigate crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide committed in Libya since February 15, 2011.

The International Criminal Court prosecutor renewed her appeal on last Friday to Libyan authorities to arrest Dignity Operation militias’ big shot who is wanted by the court for war crimes, after he was linked to a shocking video purported to show extrajudicial killings.

Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said in a statement that she is deeply concerned by a twin boom-mobileing in Benghazi that killed at least 34 people this week and that she is "equally appalled" by images purportedly showing commander Mahmoud al-Warfalli killing 10 people "in what appears to constitute retaliation" near the site of the bombings.

"I am dismayed that Mr. al-Werfalli appears to remain in a position of command, and allegedly continues to commit crimes with impunity, despite an official statement from the General Command of the Libyan National Army in August 2017 that Mr. al-Werfalli had been tossed in the slammer
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
and was under investigation by a military prosecutor," Bensouda said.

What made the killing of the prisoners more appalling than the mere murder it is was the fact that the killer al-Werfalli executed the ten men in the same spot where twin boom-mobileings took place a day before on Tuesday, when 34 people were killed and over 80 others were maimed, according to al-Jalaa Hospital in Benghazi.

The killing was rendered by Human Rights Watch a war crime and an act of retaliation of the Tuesday double bombing, saying "On January 24, accounts appeared on multiple news sites and social media displaying undated photos that allegedly show a commander from the Libyan National Army forces (LNA), Mahmoud al-Werfalli, wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC), appearing to execute 10 individuals, assumed to be detainees as they were dressed in blue prison uniforms."

The United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Support Mission in Libya said on its Twitter that it was alarmed by reports of brutal and outrageous summary executions in Benghazi on Wednesday.

It demanded the handing over of Mahmoud al-Werfalli immediately to the International Criminal Court in The Hague as it documented at least 5 similar cases, in 2017 alone, carried out or ordered by al-Werfalli, explaining that those responsible for committing or ordering summary executions are criminally liable under international law.

Nigerian Town Awaits Release of Christian Girl Held by Boko Haram
Probably nothing will come of this, but it’s nice that they care about a little Christian girl.
[AnNahar] Residents of the Nigerian town of Dapchi were hoping for the release of the last schoolgirl kidnapped by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, following encouraging indications from the authorities after the Death Eaters returned more than 100 youngsters they had seized.

Her released schoolmates said the girl, Leah Sharibu, is a Christian who remained in captivity because she refused to convert to Islam.

"There is so much expectation in the town following the news that the last remaining girl will be released," Kachalla Bukar, father of one of the schoolgirls recently freed, told AFP late Saturday by phone from the town in the northeastern state of Yobe.

"We were told she was on her way but she has not yet been brought," said Kachalla, who is the front man of the kidnapped schoolgirls' parents union.

The authorities had asked shopkeepers to close Saturday afternoon in anticipation of her arrival.

National police chief Ibrahim Idris told news hounds Saturday in Maiduguri, capital of neighboring Borno State, the girl "may be released today".

Idris said he canceled a visit to Dapchi to avoid any "security hitch" in the town before Leah's arrival, without providing further details.

In all, 105 of the 111 schoolgirls kidnapped on February 19 from their boarding school in Dapchi were released on Wednesday, raising questions about possible ransom payments.

They were brought back by members of Boko Haram in nine trucks and dropped by the school.

- 'High spirits' -
According to witnesses contacted by AFP, the girls were held on an island on Lake Chad, which is a known stronghold for fighters loyal to Boko Haram factional leader Abu Mus'ab al-Barnawi.
Oh? Good to know where to send any spare UAVs we might have...
Five of the girls died in captivity, according to their colleagues.

On Saturday, soldiers deployed in Dapchi disappeared from the town's checkpoints, raising hopes for Leah's imminent release.

"We believe the news of the girl's release is true because the body language of the security personnel, police and military, indicates the girl is on her way home," said resident Tijjani Goni.

"The town is in high spirits and full of anticipation," Goni said.

"The sudden withdrawal of soldiers from checkpoints is a clear sign the girl is coming," said fellow Dapchi resident Sanda Masida.

President Muhammadu Buhari vowed on Twitter to do "everything in our power to bring Leah back safely."

The Dapchi kidnapping revived painful memories in Nigeria of the April 2014 abduction of over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok, a town also in the northeast, which caused global outrage.

While some of the Chibok girls have been freed in exchange for ransom and the release of top Boko Haram commanders, a total of 112 remain in captivity.

Boko Haram has repeatedly targeted schools giving a so-called Western education in the mainly-Moslem region as part of an insurgency that has killed at least 20,000 people and displaced more than 2.6 million since 2009.

While a 2015 offensive launched by Buhari successfully reclaimed swathes of territory back from the jihadists in Nigeria, the group still stages deadly attacks on both military targets and civilians.

Syria accuses Israel of stealing Jewish artifacts from Damascus
[IsraelTimes] UN ambassador Bashar Jaafari says religious books smuggled from Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue in Jobar to New York via Istanbul

Syria has accused Israel of stealing ancient and valuable Jewish artifacts from a historic synagogue in Damascus.

In an official complaint filed with the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
Security Council last week, Syria accused Israel of smuggling religious books and other artifacts from the Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue, in cooperation with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and with terrorist groups operating in the area.

The Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue, located in the Jobar district of Damascus, is believed to be built on the spot where the prophet Elijah is thought to have hid in a cave and in the place where Elijah is said to have anointed the prophet Elisha.

Jobar was home to a large Jewish community for hundreds of years, but by the mid-19th century, only a few families remained.

The synagogue was said to have been mostly destroyed in mortar attacks during a May 2014 battle between troops loyal to Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
and rebel troops. The synagogue reportedly was looted following the battle

According to a plaque on the building, the synagogue dates from 720 BCE.

Syria’s Ambassador to the UN Bashar Jaafari wrote in the letter of what he called "credible evidence" that "the terrorist groups that are active in the area of Jobar, near Damascus, cooperated with the Ottoman Turkish and Israeli intelligence services to loot artifacts and manuscripts from the ancient synagogue there."

The letter continued: "The items were then smuggled through local and foreign intermediaries to Istanbul, where they were received by antiquities experts who certified that they were extremely valuable antique objects. The items were subsequently smuggled to New York."

Israel’s ambassador to the UN Danny called Syria’s accusations: "Another attempt by the Syrian regime to draw attention away from the horrible atrocities it commits against its own people."

"While the Assad regime continues mercilessly slaughtering innocent civilians and children, Israel continues giving humanitarian aid to Syrian residents and treating Syrian maimed that arrive at its doorstep," Danon also said.

Crime scene specialists and other security teams were deployed to carry out an investigation, which led to identifying the suspects and arresting them, he said.

Cameras with footage showing the attack and some other evidence were also seized from the suspects.

Legal proceedings were initiated to refer the case to the Public Prosecution, the official added.

Fazl says world powers want to keep religious parties away from power
[DAWN] The agenda of world powers is to keep religious parties away from power in Pakistain.

This was stated by Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
, chief of his own faction of the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Fazl is active in Pak politix and Sami spends more time running his madrassah. Both branches sponsor branches of the Taliban, though with plausible deniability...
-Fazl (JUI-F) while speaking at a big public gathering the party called ’Babul Islam Sindh conference’ held at the SRTC ground here on Friday night.

The maulana, who is also president of the recently reactivated religious alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, criticised the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Pakistain’s politics. He alleged that people from NGOs were being sent to parliament through a well-planned conspiracy only to impose Western culture on the country.

He further said that it was the agenda of the United States to humiliate youngsters studying in madressahs so they may react [violently] and use their reaction as a pretext to close down the religious schools. He said selected people ‐ nawabs, khans and feudals ‐ were being imposed on the people as rulers. However,
the man who has no enemies isn't anybody and has never done anything...
he added, the JUI-F would stand in the way of such people.

Lebanon elections and Hezbollah’s fearmongering about war with Israel
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Hezbollah’s election campaign for the upcoming Lebanese parliamentary elections in May heavily relies on fear-mongering about the possibility of a war with Israel.

Hezbollah has played a major role in formulating a new electoral law that helps it infiltrate parliamentary representation allotted to other Lebanese sects and gives it control over Shiite representation.

He said preliminary reports indicate at least one person has been killed and seven others have been maimed in the kaboom.

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi military has denied news circulated by media channels over blowing up a Sufi Shrine, southeast of Daquq in Kirkuk.

In a statement on Sunday, the Security Media Center said “what was circulated by media channels that Islamic State blew up a Sufi shrine in Tal Hama, southeast of Daquq in Kirkuk is untrue.”

“The confirmed news was about a bomb blast in a grave, 10 kilometers west of Daquq. It targeted a grave, not a shrine,” he added.

“The blast did not damage the grave. It only caused damages to the outer wall. Security troops came up to important information about the perpetrators of the blast,” the statement said.

Government
Trump order would ban most transgender troops from serving, setting stage for court battle
[LATimes] President Trump's order late Friday that bans transgender individuals from serving in the armed forces except under "limited circumstances" sets the stage for a legal battle and an eventual Supreme Court ruling on whether the government can discriminate against people because of their gender status.

The White House order follows through on Trump's promise to reverse an Obama-era policy that allowed transgender troops to serve openly for the first time.

Individuals with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria ‐ that is, people who identify as being a gender other than what they were assigned at birth ‐ are generally ineligible for military service, the new order says, arguing that they "present considerable risk to military effectiveness and lethality."

The new ban will apply to transgender individuals who require substantial medical treatment, including medication and surgery.

The policy shift, announced late on a Friday evening, hours after Trump had left for a weekend in Florida, is the latest twist in a politically fraught controversy that began unexpectedly last summer when he called, in a tweet, for banning transgender troops, catching the Pentagon off guard.

The new order bars the Pentagon from enlisting recruits who have undergone gender transition treatment and could require kicking out some active-duty troops. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the order gives Defense Secretary James N. Mattis leeway to retain those who have served openly since doing so was authorized.

Current transgender service members could remain in the armed forces if they have been "stable for 36 consecutive months in their biological sex" before joining the military and are able to deploy overseas, according to a memo by Mattis outlining the new policy released Friday.

Service members diagnosed with gender dysphoria after joining the military could remain if they do not undergo gender reassignment, the memo said. Troops diagnosed while the Obama policy was in effect "may continue to serve in their preferred gender" and to receive treatment.

Transgender individuals without a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria are free to serve, it said.

Administration officials say the order creates an objective standard for prohibiting transgender individuals from serving ‐ a contention certain to be tested in court.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the order will have no immediate impact, lawyers said, because four federal district judges issued nationwide orders last year that blocked Trump's original, more far-reaching proposal from taking effect.

In December, two U.S. appeals courts ‐ in Washington, D.C., and Virginia ‐ refused emergency requests from administration lawyers to lift lower court orders and maintain an enlistment ban.

"It must be remembered," the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said, that the transgender individuals who went to court seek "to serve their nation with honor and dignity, volunteering to face extreme hardships, to endure lengthy deployments and separation from family and friends and to willingly make the ultimate sacrifice of their lives if necessary."

The Supreme Court has not ruled on the issue of transgender rights. In its only case on the issue, in 2016, the justices in a brief order set aside a lower court's ruling that would have required a Virginia high school to allow a transgender boy to use the boys' restroom.

#1  Ban them, lose the court case against lefty court, escalates to Supreme Court, probably lose again. In the process you kill the military payments for the surgery.

In the end the Activists win the case and trans are allowed while losing the thing that draws trans into the military in the first place.

On that rationale, strike down limitations dealing with the Americans With Disabilities Act and the age limitations. The military is NOT about the individual wishes. It's about dealing with an enemy who sets the environment where failure is death. Hey, judges, why do you have a separate set of laws governing the military that you don't have on civilians? /rhet question

#6  Troops that have chronic health issues and require a steady supply of meds are labeled as "non-deployable" and usually flagged to bar to re-enlistment unless they have some critical MOS and the military is short handed.

Transgenders need a constant supply of meds/hormones to maintain their new gender and thus they would fall under the non-deployable as well. If they try to enlist as transgendered, they could be bared for that. If they choose to do it in the service, they can be barred to re-enlist for medical reasons. This sets up a perfectly logical reason why a ban on them serving is justified.

And because it is reasonable I expect the courts to overturn it and force our military to try to get them hormone treatments in the middle of some sandy ass place during a firefight.

#9  Didn't Secretary Mattis recently declare that if you're not deployable, you need to get out? Doesn't matter if you can't deploy because of family obligations, medical conditions, or whatever. Any transgender who needs hormone treatment will not be deployable.

in Dubai following a raid by Dubai Police in cooperation with Thai authorities.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim al-Mansouri, the assistant commandant of criminal affairs at Dubai Police told the Khaleej Times that they received information about the whereabouts of the gang that consisted of men and women, 24 of which were Thai and one was from Taiwan.

"After locating their hiding place, which is located in a residential area, our team raided and arrested all members of the gang consisting of men and women with about 150 smart phones and 40 laptops, as well as some technical devices that helped them commit these kinds of crimes," al- Mansouri told the newspaper.

In a video released by the Dubai Police’s official Twitter account, the task force is shown barging into the suspected apartment and cuffing the gang members laying them face down on the floor. The video also shows the confiscated items which included several mobile phones and laptops.

Al-Marri added that the gang chose a residential area as their hideout to give the impression that they were a normal Asian family. He praised the efforts of the task forces at the general department of criminal investigations in finding the criminals.

The victims, who were from Thailand and other Asian countries, were deceived to transfer funds from their accounts to fake accounts in East Asian countries.

The gang members had already been accused of fraud in Thailand, the newspaper reported.

Al-Marri attributed the success of the operation to the good relations between the UAE and other countries in the field of fighting crime regionally and internationally.

Military launch manhunt amid fears 'potential bomber' will attack tourists in Rome
[Express] THE Italian military has launched a manhunt for a suspected Islamist terrorist over fears he could launch a horrific attack on tourists in Rome.

Counter-terror officials are hunting for Mathlouthi Atef, 42, after he was flagged up as a "possible bomber", according to local media.

A mugshot of the Tunisian suspect has been circulated over fears he could strike bars, train stations and shopping centres in Rome.

The alert came after the Italian embassy in Tunisia's capital, Tunis, received an anonymous letter claiming a man was "ready to attack the centre of Rome".

The chilling threat was "considered reliable", according to Rome-based newspaper Il Corriere della Citta.

Another newspaper, Il Giornale, reported that Atef is already known to police for drug dealing and "other minor crimes".

Seattle man on ‘jihad’ pleads guilty to murder in New Jersey, admits to 3 other homicides in King County
From early this month, but now we can close the books on a story we’ve been following since 2014.
[SeattleTimes] In a courtroom nearly 3,000 miles from Seattle, Ali Muhammad Brown pleaded guilty on Tuesday to killing a college student in New Jersey and admitted he fatally shot three men in the Seattle area in spring 2014 as part of an overarching plan to retaliate against the U.S. for military actions in the Middle East.

His admission of guilt in connection with the deaths of Leroy Henderson in Skyway and Dwone Anderson-Young and Ahmed Said in Seattle’s Leschi neighborhood won’t impact the three aggravated first-degree murder charges filed against him in King County Superior Court, said Mark Larson, the county’s chief criminal deputy prosecutor.

Brown, who pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including murder, robbery and terrorism in New Jersey’s Essex County, is currently serving a 35-year sentence for a New Jersey armed robbery committed before Brown killed 19-year-old Brandon Tevlin outside Newark.

Egyptian police kill 6 Hasm terrorists after failed assassination bid on Alexandria security chief
[AlAhram] The Egyptian police said they had killed six Hasm terrorist group members believed to be behind a failed liquidation attempt on Alexandria’s security chief on Saturday, which left two coppers dead and injured several others.

In an official statement, Egypt's interior ministry said the bad boyz were potted on Sunday dawn following a shootout in a residential apartment in Beheira governorate, around 89 kilometres from the Mediterranean city which witnessed Saturday's attack.

The ministry identified three of the terrorists, adding that the three men were wanted by the authorities in a 2017 Supreme State Security case related to the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund's "militant wing."

The killed members of the cell were led by runaway Brotherhood leader Bassem Gad, who the interior ministry said was responsible for ordering an execution of Saturday's attack in Alexandria.

According to the statement, Gad ordered the cell members to detonate a boom-mobile targeting El-Nemr’s convoy.

The cell has also received orders from leaders of the Moslem Brüderbund abroad to target a number of prominent figures and vital facilities in Alexandria, Beheira, and Kafr El-Sheikh.

The interior ministry said in a Saturday statement that an improvised bomb placed under a car detonated as El-Nemr’s convoy passed through El-Moaskar El-Romany Street in Alexandria.

Hasm did not claim responsibility for the attack through its social media channels.

The attack came two days before Egypt hold the 2018 presidential elections, which will take place from Monday to Wednesday.

Egypt's interior ministry and military have been beefing up security nationwide ahead of the elections, where incumbent President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is facing the head of the Ghad Party Moussa Mostafa Moussa.

Debate reemerges in Libya over fate of Qaddafi’s corpse
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Debate erupted once again in Libya over the fate of the corpse of late leader Muammar al-Qadaffy.

Former Libyan Ambassador to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Mohammed Saeed al-Qashat told Russia’s Sputnik news agency that the location of his grave is not known.

His corpse was handed over to the Misrata brigades after his death in 2011 and placed inside a mortuary freezer for a week. It was then washed and prayers were performed. Afterwards, nothing is known of its fate, he said.

Despite demands made by some of his relatives and Libyan tribal leaders, the Misrata brigades did not disclose the location of the burial and no Libyan side has been able to obtain information on the matter, he continued.

After his death, Libyan authorities planned to bury Qadaffy in an undisclosed location. His Gaddafa tribe demanded the national transition council, which was ruling the country at the time, to hand over the corpse to it.

The graves of the Qadaffy family in Sirte have been vandalized in the past.

An elder of the Qadaffy tribe expressed to Asharq al-Awsat the family’s anger at bringing up the fate of Qadaffy’s corpse once again.

He said, on condition of anonymity, that at the time of his death, Qadaffy’s relatives demanded from head of the national transition council, Mustafa Abduljalil, that his corpse be handed over to them.

He was however powerless and could not fulfill their demand, he added.

Mosul Clean Up Continues: 7 turbans bound, and a Number 4 publisher

Iraqi security forces arrest senior Islamic State media officer

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces have arrested the chief editor of one of Islamic State’s media outlets, security sources were quoted saying on Sunday as authorities hunt for remnant militants.

Shafaq News website quoted the sources saying that the IS member, nicknamed Abu Saif al-Iraqi, was arrested in Mosul.

It said al-Iraqi was in charge of Al-Naba, one of Islamic State’s propaganda papers.

Islamic State militants have run several media outlets propagating their operations and even publicizing executions of civilians and security members since they took over a third of Iraq in 2014 to proclaim a self-styled “caliphate” in Iraq and neighboring Syria.

But many of the group’s mouthpieces seemed to fade out gradually as Iraqi forces took over territories held by the militants.

Seven Islamic State members arrested in security operations in Mosul

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Interior Ministry has announced arresting five Islamic State members in Mosul, while two other members were arrested in an ambush, south of the city, according to the military intelligence.

In a statement on Sunday, Maj.Gen. Saad Maan, spokesperson for the ministry, said Nineveh Police “managed to arrest five Islamic State members.”

The members, according to Maan, “were arrested in al-Tanak district, west of Mosul.”

Moreover, the military intelligence department revealed arrested two other members, one of whom was the driver of one of the group’s judges known as ‘Blood judge’

A statement by the department troops of the 20th division arrested the two members in an ambush set in Qayyarah and Hammam al-Alil regions, south of Mosul.

Friday sermons to be delivered on select topics, following approval
[DAWN] Friday sermons will now be delivered after they have been approved by the capital administration, which will also monitor them, officials said on Saturday.

The administration had initially decided to issue written sermons to mosques and imambargahs in the city, they said. Scholars from various sectors and administrators of places of worship were called for a meeting with the capital administration in this regard.

The idea was largely opposed by scholars, administrators and prayer leaders, officials said, as a number of mosques and imambargahs are not supervised by the administration but by the Auqaf department.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
it was later decided that sermons would only be delivered on matters selected by the administration, which were shared with the scholars and prayer leaders, who agreed.

Turkey claims full control of Afrin
[DAWN] The Ottoman Turkish army and Syrian opposition fighters it backs have "total control" of the Kurdish enclave of Afrin in northern Syria, the country’s official news agency said on Saturday, nearly a week after they captured the main town that carries the same name.

Anadolu news agency said the Ottoman Turkish military was continuing its sweep for mines and explosives to allow Afrin’s resident’s to return, following Arclight airstrikes and festivities with Syrian Kurdish forces.

Journalists on a press tour organised by the Ottoman Turkish government on Saturday passed through the north-western town of Jinderes en route to central Afrin.

Jinderes, captured by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and allied Syrian opposition fighters, was the scene of heavy street festivities earlier in March. The AP saw a widely destroyed and empty town.

Turkey launched a ground and air offensive on Jan 20 codenamed Olive Branch to oust the main Syrian Kurdish militia known as the People’s Protection Units, or YPG, from Afrin. Turkey considers the YPG a terror group and an extension of Kurdish rebels waging an insurgency within its own borders.

Syrian Kurdish officials and the country’s state media said the Ottoman Turkish offensive displaced more than 200,000 people from their homes.

In Afrin’s town centre, captured Sunday, allied Syrian forces patrolled the streets as Ottoman Turkish tanks and armoured personnel carriers drove past.

5 Druze Israelis arrested for smuggling weapons from West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Suspects brought several caches of arms into Israeli territory after making deal with Paleostinian citizen

Five Israelis from Druze communities in the north of the country were indicted Sunday for smuggling weapons from Paleostinian Authority-controlled areas in the West Bank into Israel.

According to the indictment filed by the Haifa District Prosecution, the group is made up of friends hailing from Daliyat al-Karmel and Isfiya, two Druze towns near the coastal city of Haifa.

The charge sheet details how the central suspect made an agreement with a Paleostinian citizen, named in the indictment as "Abu Adham," to bring weapons "from the Paleostinian Authority into Israeli territory," in return for an undisclosed sum of money.

Under that agreement, the suspects brought several caches of weapons into Israel earlier this month.

The weapons were then to be transferred to a resident of Shfaram, an Arab Israeli town in the north, whose identity was not known to the suspects.

Three of the suspects were nabbed
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!

Government
Congress Enacts Surveillance Legislation
[Motherboard] The omnibus government spending bill is nominally supposed to be used to, well, authorize the government to spend money. It is one of the few pieces of legislation that must pass every year, otherwise the government shuts down. Because Congress is dysfunctional and rarely votes on any “clean” pieces of legislation, every year the spending bill becomes unwieldy as lawmakers tack on their pet legislation. The thinking is that, even if a piece of legislation doesn’t have enough votes to pass on its own, it can pass in the spending bill, because voting against it would mean voting to shut the government down.

This is how we end up with the CLOUD Act, a bill that never had a hearing, never had its own vote on the floor of Congress, and was never marked up by legislators. It has absolutely nothing to do with government spending, and yet, if President Trump signs the spending bill, it will become the law of the land. This is the same process that allowed Congress to pass the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, a bill that was subjected to years worth of online and in-person protests and was highly unpopular. But because few lawmakers are willing to shut down the government over your privacy, these unpopular bills have become laws.

The CLOUD Act is a surveillance bill that allows the US and foreign governments to obtain your online data directly from service providers like Facebook, Google, Slack, etc., without a warrant. The EFF has called it “a new backdoor around the Fourth Amendment.”

It allows the US to obtain data from servers in foreign countries without complying with those countries’ laws, and allows the president to make agreements with foreign nations that allow those countries to grab data stored in the US without a warrant—as long as that data pertains to a non-US individual. As we’ve seen with NSA surveillance in the past, however, our data is so intertwined that it’s impossible to separate the data of non targets from those who are subject to targeted surveillance.

“When foreign police use their power under CLOUD Act executive agreements to collect a foreign target’s data from a U.S. company, they might also collect data belonging to a non-target U.S. person who happens to be communicating with the foreign target,” the EFF wrote.

Turkey to target new town in Syria operation: Erdogan
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Sunday said the northern Syrian town of Tal Rifaat would be the next target of its cross-border campaign after the capture of Afrin from Syrian Kurdish militia.

"God willing, we will ensure this operation achieves its goal after taking control of Tal Rifaat in a short period of time," President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
said in the Black Sea city of Trabzon.

Afrin's capture is seen as a major step forwards for Turkey as it seeks to bolster control along its border in northern Syria.

Erdogan has repeatedly suggested that the Ottoman Turkish campaign in Syria could now extend up to Qamishli -- the most easterly Syrian town held by the YPG before the Iraqi border.

Tal Rifaat lies in a strategic area right in the middle between the city of Afrin and the town of Marea -- which is a key rebel-held town to the east.

Taking it could connect rebel territory between Afrin and Marea.

Tens of thousands of people fleeing the Afrin offensive have travelled to Tal Rifaat, which is also very close to the key Minnigh airport, also held by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Force (SDF) dominated by the YPG.

Tal Rifaat has changed hands several times in Syria's war. The SDF captured it from Syrian rebels in February 2016, despite Turkey's efforts to keep them back.

Reports say Israeli jets hit Hezbollah positions along Syria-Lebanon border
[IsraelTimes] Arabic media outlets reported that Israeli jets struck a number of Hezbollah positions along the Leb-Syria border on Sunday night, in reports that were not confirmed by either Hezbollah or the IAF.

The reports said the attacks were said to have occurred near the eastern Lebanese town of Baalbek, near the Syrian border.

The Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group denied the Arclight airstrikes took place. A spokesperson for the Israeli military said she was aware of the reports in Arabic media, but could not comment further.

Lebanese media outlet al-Jadeed news reported the loud sounds heard by residents of the area were not kabooms, but Israeli planes breaking the sound barrier, causing sonic booms.

In statements to Hezbollah-affiliated media, the terrorist group said neither it nor the Syrian army were bombed by Israel "in Baalbek or in Syria."

In general, the Israeli army does not discuss its airstrikes in foreign countries.

However,

[AAWSAT] Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
has him bumped off, too.

successfully rallied people behind him after targeting in his speech Hezbollah, making it clear that voters have a choice to make between two very different political atmospheres.

"The choice in the elections will be easy: stability, security, economic drive and jobs, or God forbid, economic and social nightmares," Hariri told the people of Akkar.

Hariri’s speech comes at a time when the national registry for electoral lists is almost complete, in light of partisan alliances formed nationwide.

The deadline for submitting electoral lists is March 25, announced the Interior Ministry.

"This election, with all due respect to all candidates, and all lists, is actually a confrontation between two lines, two approaches and two wills. Between a line that wants to protect Beirut’s political, national, Arab and Beiruti identity, and a line that wants to put its hand on Beirut’s decision and identity," Hariri said in a speech during a ceremony held by the Future Movement at the premier’s Downtown Beirut residence to announce the electoral list of the Beirut-II district.

Called "The Future Is for Beirut," the 11-member list includes, among others, Hariri, former Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk.

After announcing an electoral list he heads in Beirut, Hariri also announced his bloc’s electoral list in Akkar.

Prime Minister Hariri patronized Saturday afternoon the Future Movement's organized ceremony in Khreibet el-Jindi in Akkar to announce "The Future Is for Akkar" electoral list.

Ahead of mass protest, Hamas holds 1st live-fire military exercise in Gaza; Iron Dome responds unnecessarily
[IsraelTimes] Gazooks begin preparing tent cities near Israel border ahead of planned mass marches on Passover Eve; Israel boosting army deployment

Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, on Sunday carried out an unprecedented military exercise in the Gazoo Strip, including the test-firing of a rocket, as Israel boosted its forces along the border in preparation for a Paleostinian planned mass march on Passover eve.

Eyewitnesses said the terror organization fired at least one rocket towards the Mediterranean and practiced attacking several models of Merkava tanks, similar to those used by the IDF.

On Saturday, the group’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, warned residents ahead of the drill, claiming that the exercise was "defensive" only.

Hebrew media reported that the Israeli military was completing preparations for a planned Paleostinian "day of rage" on Passover Eve this coming Friday, when thousands of Paleostinians in the Strip, encouraged by Hamas, are expected to try to march to the fences marking the borders with Israel.

Paleostinian tractors in the Hamas-run Strip began preparing an area east of Khan Yunis on Sunday morning for a tent city planned for the march. As well as leveling the area near the border with Israel, the tractors set up dirt mounds intended to protect the participants from Israeli gunfire.

Gazoo news agency Al Aqsa Voice said this was one of six camps planned for Friday’s protest, which it described as "a peaceful sit-in."

The coming days will see a significant boost in IDF forces situated along the Gazoo border. The cabinet focused on the expected protests during its weekly meeting on Sunday.

A Hadashot TV report on Saturday night said the IDF has briefed local council heads adjacent to Gazoo ahead of the anticipated tensions in the coming days.

On Passover Eve, March 30, Paleostinians and Israeli Arabs throughout Israel, the West Bank, and Gazoo will mark Land Day, commemorating an Israeli decision in 1976 to expropriate land in the Galilee ‐ a move that sparked widespread riots that resulted in the death of six Arab Israeli citizens.

Paleostinian groups in Hamas-run Gazoo have for weeks been planning a "Mass March of Return," which they hope will see tens of thousands of participants surging toward border fences.

The IDF is said to be seeking to strike a balance between preventing anyone from breaching the fences, while also averting fatalities.

Tensions between Israel and terror groups in the Paleostinian enclave have risen in recent weeks after a number of bombs went kaboom! near IDF patrols along the border, sparking reprisal attacks.

IDF: Iron Dome fired in response to Gaza gunfire; no rockets

[IsraelTimes] Incoming alarms sound throughout the area surrounding the Gazoo Strip as system triggered by Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, exercise; IDF said to retaliate with tank fire

The Iron Dome missile defense system was apparently mistakenly activated by automatic gunfire from Gazoo on Sunday, sending an unnecessary barrage of interceptors into the skies above southern Israel, the army said.

The launch of the interceptors also appeared to be responsible for the wave of missile warning sirens that went off in the southern regions of Hof Ashkelon and Shaar Hanegev earlier on Sunday night.

No rockets were fired at Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces. An army spokesperson stressed that the situation was normal along the Gazoo border.

Yet Paleostinian media reported that the IDF retaliated to the apparent false alarm with tank fire aimed at a Hamas position in the northern Gazoo Strip. This could not be immediately confirmed by the army.

The late night sirens and Iron Dome launches were apparently set off by the live-fire military exercise being held by Gazoo’s Hamas rulers on Sunday.

An IDF spokesperson said the military would be investigating the incident in order to ensure that such an event does not repeat itself.

Videos filmed by residents of southern Israel showed the launches of multiple Iron Dome interceptor missiles into the night skies.

Holocaust survivor’s body found burnt, stabbed in Paris apartment
[IsraelTimes] In crime reminiscent of the Sarah Halimi murder, declared an anti-Semitic crime, victim had reported in the past that a neighbor had threatened to burn her
One assumes similar things have been happening to Christians in France. But because viciously murdering Christians does not garner the hate crime label, it is not remarked upon in the press.
The burnt and stabbed body of a Holocaust survivor was found in her Gay Paree apartment, in what a watchdog on anti-Semitism said was a case reminiscent of an alleged anti-Semitic hate crime.

The National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism, or BNVCA, wrote in a statement Sunday that the suspected murder of the 85-year-old woman, identified by BNVCA and in the French media only as Mireille K., "is reminiscent of the crime committed against Sarah Halimi," a 66-year-old Jewish teacher and physician, whom prosecutors say was murdered by her Moslem neighbor in April partly in connection with her Jewish identity.

According to the BNVCA, the octogenarian’s body was set on fire Friday night. Her charred body also had at least 11 stab wounds. Police have a suspect in jug in connection with her death.

The victim was found dead in her apartment on Philippe August Street in Gay Paree’ 11th District, in the city’s east near the Nation Square. She reported in the past to authorities about a man from the same street, whom she said had threatened to "burn her," BNVCA wrote.

A forensic examination of the apartment showed that an arsonist started a fire in at least five distinct areas of that space, the report also said.

Last month, the brutal murder of Halimi was declared an anti-Semitic act, a legal source told AFP, after a campaign to draw attention to the crime.

When Sarah Halimi, 65, died last April in Gay Paree, her family and Jewish groups blamed anti-Semitism.

Kobili Traore, 27, who was jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
the day after the killing, went before the instructing magistrate, who finally added anti-Semitism to the charges, the source said.

Traore was Halimi’s neighbor and allegedly broke into her apartment in a public housing development in eastern Gay Paree on the night of April 3.

Amid shouts of "Allah Akbar" (God is great), Koranic verses and insults, he beat Halimi before throwing her out of the window.

"I’ve killed the demon," he allegedly shouted in Arabic.

The murder stirred debate over anti-Semitism and violence in working-class districts of La Belle France. Officials had been reluctant to ascribe the crime to anti-Semitism.

Earlier this month, the judge scrapped a hate crime element from the indictment of Traore; the prosecution appealed the decision.

Despite having taken a large amount of cannabis before the killing, psychiatric testing found he was still responsible for his actions, which were "not incompatible with an anti-Semitic dimension."

The prosecutor then called for anti-Semitism to be added to the charges, as Jewish groups had demanded.

Last month, they started legal action demanding a response from the instructing magistrate on whether Halimi was targeted because of her religion.

The affair took a political turn last July when President Emmanuel Macron called for the full facts to be known during a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

La Belle France’s half-a-million-plus Jewish community has voiced increasing concern with a rise in anti-Semitic acts that have seen thousands of Jews leave for Israel.

US air strike in Libya kills two militant ‘leaders’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A US air strike hit a house in southern Libya on Saturday where holy warrior "leaders" were meeting, killing two of them, the front man of the Libyan prime minister said.

Spokesman Mohammed El Sallak, in a statement on his Twitter account, said the strike was "coordinated" with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) of Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj.

The raid targeted "a meeting of terrorist leaders" in a house in the Ubari region, 1,000 kilometers south of the Libyan capital, Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, said Sallak.

He later told AFP he was not immediately able to identify the gunnies targeted in the air strike.

The United State has carried out frequent raids on the ISIS group in southern Libya.

Libya has been gripped by chaos since a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
-backed uprising toppled and killed dictator Moamer Qadaffy in 2011, with rival administrations and multiple militias vying for control of the oil-rich country.

Militants and people-traffickers have taken advantage of the chaos to gain a foothold in the North African country.

ISIS seized Qadaffy 's hometown of Sirte in June 2015 but were driven out of the coastal town in December the following year by pro-GNA forces with US air cover.

The gunnies are still active, however, in central and southern Libya.

ISIS has claimed several attacks in Libya, the latest in February when a suicide boom-mobileing against the forces of Libyan strongman Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. Guess you can't win them all...
killed three militiamen.

Haftar supports an administration in the east of the country, opposed to the Tripoli-based government of Serraj, who has struggled to assert his authority across the country.
