Defense Security Service (DSS): Platte River Networks not on our cleared list.
[Daily Caller] About 13,000 companies have received FCL or facility-wide clearance. But Platte River is not one of them.

"Platte River is not cleared" to have access to classified material, stated Cindy McGovern, chief public affairs officer for DSS in a telephone interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, told the DCNF that the Platte River involvement "raises serious questions" about the security surrounding Secretary Clinton's server over the last two years.
Copy of contract? Statement of Work (SOW)? Deliverables? Contract Duration? Payment schedule? U.S. Government Contract Officer's Representative (COR)? ....or was this effort NOT funded by the USG, but rather a private foundation ?

#2  Of course not. They were hired because (1) they were politically reliable (i.e. donors) and (2) they're throwaways anyway.

#3  They likely weren't contracted for services by DoS. However, it's possible that Platte River may have been a subcontractor, perhaps to a consultant.

Sounds like the IG needs to look at a lot of contracts.

Yep.

Company That Stored Hillary Clinton's Email Server Shared Confidential Info
[Breitbart] As questions mount about whether or not the information on Hillary Clinton's private email server could have been stolen by foreign spies, new details are coming to light about the firm that stored her server.

The company that was responsible for storing Clinton's server exchanged "confidential information" with other tech firms across the country, in an "open book"-type relationship.

Platte River Networks of Denver, Colorado held on to Clinton's private email server from her State Department tenure for more than two years, from 2013 to this week. The company gave the server to the FBI after the feds visited the company's headquarters. Platte River has claimed that Clinton's server, which it obtained in 2013 from Clinton's home in New York, no longer had any information on it, but the server reportedly did have Clinton's emails on it at one time while it was in Platte River's possession.

So how well does Platte River Networks hold on to sensitive information?

CNN Intel Analyst: Hillary's Server A Deal-Breaker, '€˜I Can't Tell You How Bad This Is'
[Breitbart] CNN Intelligence and Security Analyst and former CIA spy Robert Baer said that Hillary Clinton’s server and the material reportedly on it is a deal-breaker, adding, “I wonder if she’s capable of being president,” “you and I’d get fired, and possibly jailed. This could be a felony,” and “[this] is a transgression that I don’t think the president of the United States should be allowed to have committed on Saturday’s “CNN Newsroom” on CNN International.
Skipping down a bit.
"If this was on her server, and it got into her smartphone, there's a big problem there. Seriously, if I had sent a document like this over the open Internet, I'd get fired the same day, escorted to the door, and gone for good, and probably charged with mishandling classified information."

When asked if people could argue that sometimes things can drop through the cracks, Baer answered, "No. When I was overseas at various stations, I had encrypted communications, and I wasn't even allowed to receive documents like this over highly encrypted communications. We were worried about leakage, and the rest of it, storage, leaving it in hard drives. It couldn't be sent from Washington. This is very, very serious stuff. And, in the discipline of the national security establishment, you never let this stuff out of your hands, and especially on a handheld. And if this in fact, were on her handheld, was sent to her, or she forwarded it [in] any way, I wonder if she's capable of being president."

Baer was then asked if he thought this was a "deal-breaker" for Clinton's candidacy. He answered, "As a national security employee -- a former one, yes. I mean this -- I can't tell you how bad this is. ... But having documents like this sent across the Internet, it could be hacked very easily, and probably were hacked, is a transgression that I don't think the president of the United States should be allowed to have committed."

#1  “you and I’d get fired, and possibly jailed."

The nail will be driven if national security could have been comprimised turns into national security WAS comprimised. It's not a stretch to imagine there's active spooks that share Baer's indignation currently trying to make that connection.

five people near the northern town of Sar-e-Pol on Saturday after they were filmed beating a man and his daughter accused of robbery by a village fortune teller, the interior ministry said.

A video of the brutal public beating, which shows a man hitting a young woman repeatedly with a large stick while a crowd looks on, attracted wide attention on social media and local television.

The assault occurred earlier this month after a resident of Thughi village near Sar-e-Pol suffered a robbery and consulted a fortune teller to identify the culprit.

"The father and daughter were beaten by the village resident after a fortune teller accused them of robbery," the interior ministry statement said.

Africa Subsaharan
U.N.: Four Dead, More than 20,000 Affected by Niger Floods
[AnNahar] At least four people have died and more than 20,000 have been affected by floods in Niger caused by weeks of heavy rain, the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
said Friday.

The bad weather has destroyed 2,170 homes and flooded nearly 545 hectares of agricultural land, the U.N.'s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a statement.

Around 3,100 displaced victims are currently living in schools or have been taken in by host families, the agency said citing Niger's emergency civil protection services.

The bad weather is showing no sign of abating as the rainy season continues in the impoverished sub-Saharan country, which has often faced severe food crises due to flooding or drought.

Since late July, local media have reported repeated floods, particularly in central and southern Niger.

In the capital Niamey, the authorities have asked residents living near the edge of the Niger River to leave their homes because of the flood threat. The water level is at 580 centimeters (19 feet), well above the "alert" threshold of 530 centimeters, according to the Niger Basin Authority (NBA).

Of the eight regions of Niger, only Diffa in the east, which is home to more than 100,000 refugees who have fled violence in neighboring Nigeria, has not been affected by the bad weather.

In 2014, floods have killed dozens of people and affected hundreds of thousands, according to official figures.

The Niger River, the third largest in Africa, has a flood basin of over two million square kilometers (770,000 square miles) which is home to more than 100 million people from Guinea to Nigeria.

Ukraine's army, in the trenches and under fire as war grinds on.
Moved to page 3. BTW, the author is an antiwar loon.
[Stars & Stripes] PISKY, Ukraine -- The staccato of machine-gun fire begins at dusk, just as the sunflower fields here turn orange with the setting sun.

A Ukrainian army company of 110 soldiers defends the right flank of this largely deserted village, less than a mile outside of separatist-controlled Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, and close to the city's strategically key airport.

The unit -- 7th company of the 93rd brigade -- is headquartered in a partially destroyed two-story house known only as Point 18. In the front yard are Point 18's defenses, a series of trenches and firing positions that start at the house's garage and extend a hundred yards into the farmland beyond. The trenches are six feet deep and shored with felled birch trees and wood panels to keep them from turning into a morass when it rains.

Zain murder case: Complainant retracts statement
[DAWN] LAHORE: The prime complainant in the Zain murder case retracted his earlier recorded statement before an anti-terrorism (ATC) court on Saturday.

Sohail Afzal, uncle of 16-year-old orphan Zain, who was shot dead by Mustafa Kanju earlier in April, retracted his earlier signed statement which he had submitted to police.

"I was in hospital at the time, and the police took my signature on a blank piece of paper," said Afzal before the presiding judge of ATC.

Referring to Mustafa Kanju, Afzal said, "I do not know these people and have not seen them before."

Afzal also said that he did not register the First Information Report (FIR) for the incident and refused to identify Mustafa Kanju, the key accused in the case.

The prosecution on the other hand, has submitted an appeal in Lahore High Court (LHC) asking for the court to be changed. There will be a hearing in LHC regarding the appeal on September 21.

Earlier in June, the ATC had indicted Mustafa Kanju and six others accused in the murder case of Zain.

Mustafa Kanju, son of former minister of foreign affairs Siddique Kanju, had confessed to firing the fatal shots that ended Zain's life. He had said that Zain was not the target of the fire, nor did he intend to kill Zain or anyone else.

Kanju was earlier sent on a judicial remand to allow the police to collect evidence pertaining to the investigation in order to frame charges against Kanju.

He was arrested after a case was registered against him under Section 7-ATA and Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Enraged after his luxury car accidentally hit the vehicle of a woman in Cavalry Ground area of Punjab's provincial capital city on April 1 Kanju had resorted to gunfire. Zain was hit and died on the spot and Husnain was critically injured after they were hit by gunfire.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had taken notice of the incident, ordered the arrest of the suspect and announced Rs0.5m for the family of the deceased. He also assured them of the provision of justice.

My bun, her oven: Woman gives birth to twin sister's baby
[USA Today] Twins have a unique bond, but for sisters Dawn Ardolino Policastro and Allison Ardolino Dinkelacker, that bond runs especially deep.

In 2009, when Allison was 30 weeks pregnant with her first child, she was diagnosed with stage-3 breast cancer, Mineola, N.Y., Patch.com reported. Doctors said she needed to begin chemotherapy immediately, and her son was delivered through an emergency C-section at 31 weeks.

Six years later, Allison was cancer-free but unable to have another child. Her identical twin, Dawn, accompanied her to a doctor's appointment and made an unlikely proposition, according to Patch.com.

"We sat in my oncologist's office, and he said to me ... 'You will never be able to carry another child,'" Allison wrote in a Facebook post. "Well before [the doctor] even finished his sentence, Dawn jumped in and said, 'It doesn't matter because I am going to carry their child,'"

#5  This was predictable. One airframe does not fit all missions.

We still need

1) An air superiority aircraft.

2) a long range bomber/interdiction strike craft

3) CAS

The Navy and USAF need to agree to disagree on 1-2 and develop the one that fits their mission profiles.

3 should be left to the Army and Marines.

Not I siad aircraft. This includes possibly unmanned combat vehicles, including a mannned controller and a swarm of drones flying with it.

#7  http://nsnetwork.org : The National Security Network (NSN) works to strengthen American national security by creating and advancing progressive policies for exercising American power and addressing global challenges.

Ha! Ya got punked. For more laughs, check out their policy papers and board of directors.

Their next policy paper: Living with the Consequences: The Effects of Voting Down the Iran Nuclear Agreement Policy Brief by J. Dana Stuster July 28, 2015 Should Congress vote down the nuclear agreement with Iran, it will inhibit the ability of the United States to implement an effective foreign policy for the foreseeable future. Rejecting the deal will alienate U.S. allies and diminish U.S. standing in future negotiations. It will isolate the United States both diplomatically and economically, as the sanctions regime collapses and rivals set up a new financial infrastructure that will undermine the effectiveness of U.S. sanctions. It will empower the hardliners in Iran that drive the worst elements of Iran’s regional policies,
