#5 This was predictable. One airframe does not fit all missions.

We still need

1) An air superiority aircraft.

2) a long range bomber/interdiction strike craft

3) CAS

The Navy and USAF need to agree to disagree on 1-2 and develop the one that fits their mission profiles.

3 should be left to the Army and Marines.

Not I siad aircraft. This includes possibly unmanned combat vehicles, including a mannned controller and a swarm of drones flying with it.

#6 Well the F35 program does do at least one thing extremely well: it keeps retired generals and admirals and other senior retired O's who have a lot of procurement and acquisition experience employed.
