Brother of illegal migrant suspected of brutally killing Laken Riley is revealed to have ties to violent Venezuela gang trying to gain a foothold in the US - as college student's parents turn down SOTU invitation so they grieve her death
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] brother of the illegal migrant suspected of brutally killing Laken Riley has ties to a violent Venezuela organized crime gang, according to federal prosecutors.

Diego lbarra, 29, was previously arrested and charged with possessing a fake green card after he handed it to police as they hunted for his brother.

His younger brother, Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, has been accused of murdering Augusta University student Laken Riley, 22, after he bludgeoned her with an unknown object on February 22.

Federal authorities have since found that Diego has ties to the Venezuela-based gang Tren de Aragua, a violent gang that has been trying to gain a foothold in the US.

The gang-tie revelation comes as Riley's parents declined an invitation to attend the Thursday's State of the Union address so they could grieve the brutal killing of the nursing student.

The Tren de Aragua gang, also known as TdA, has made its way into New York City, Texas, Florida, Illinois and Georgia, along with South and Central America. The group has also been linked to the violent assault on NYPD officers in January.

Investigators discovered multiple pictures posted to Diego's social media with him in Chicago Bulls basketball attire, something Tda members are known to wear, according to prosecutors.

'TdA members frequently wear Chicago Bulls basketball attire, even if they have no connection to Chicago or the Bulls,' prosecutors said.

Homeland Security Investigators also found photos of Diego flashing the gang's hand signals online, along with identifying tattoos like stars, clocks, trains, weapons and crowns.

More pictures of him with firearms were found online even though illegal immigrants in the US are not legally allowed to own guns.

'Ibarra is a citizen of Venezuela and was processed for expedited removal but claimed a credible fear of return to Venezuela,' the United States Attorney’s Office Middle District of Georgia wrote in a statement.

'He was consequently released from immigration custody pending adjudication of his claim for asylum on April 30, 2024.'

A month after that, he allegedly cut off his ankle monitor that Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed on him. It was later found in Colorado, but by that time, Diego had made it to Athens, Georgia.

While in Georgia, Diego had multiple run-ins with police and was hit with multiple DUI charges, was accused of stealing his girlfriend's phone and reportedly shoplifted from two different Walmart stores.

Diego has been in custody since late February as he faced federal charges for possessing a fake green card.

The elder Ibarra was stopped by Athens-Clarke County police because he matched the description for the suspected killer.

Sudan confirms approval of humanitarian access through three neighbouring countries
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Sudanese government confirmed its approval of the use of the Al-Tina crossing on the Chad-El-Fasher route for the delivery of designated humanitarian aid to the Darfur region.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, the foreign ministry said it informed the United Nations of its approval to utilize the Al-Tina crossing on the Chad-El-Fasher route for the delivery of designated humanitarian aid.

“This decision is subject to a technical agreement with the Chadian government and should align with UN Security Council Resolution No. 1591” stressed the statement referring to the arms embargo to Darfur adopted in 2005.

The foreign ministry indicated additional access routes for humanitarian aid including, Port Sudan – Atbara – Mellit – El Fasher, the Red Sea route from Egypt to Port Sudan, Wadi Halfa-Dongola crossing and Renk – Kosti route via river and land transport from South Sudan.

Also, El Fasher, Kadugli, and El Obeid airports could be used as alternative access points in case of land route difficulties.

On Tuesday evening, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Clementine Nkwita Salami, stated that the Sudanese government agreed to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery via the Al-Tina border crossing into Darfur, and from South Sudan via Renk’s border crossing to Kosti. Also, humanitarian flights to El Fasher, Kadugli, and El Obeid airports will be permitted.

In a related development, USAID Spokesperson Jessica Jennings stated that Administrator Samantha Power spoke with the head of the Sovereign Council and Commander in Chief of the Sudanese Army Abdel Fattah al-Burhan about the dire humanitarian situation in Sudan.

“Administrator Power stressed the need to re-establish cross-border access from Chad, remove bureaucratic impediments, and ensure safe, sustained, and unhindered humanitarian access for aid workers to urgently deliver life-saving assistance”

The vital delivery of humanitarian aid to Darfur was abruptly halted after authorities revoked permits for WFP’s cross-border truck convoys from Chad. This lifeline had reached over one million people in West and Central Darfur since August. With hunger and malnutrition rapidly escalating in the region, WFP was scaling up its operations to meet the growing needs, but these efforts had been halted by the recent ban.

The WFP chief, Cindy McCain on Tuesday warned that “The war in Sudan risks triggering the world’s largest hunger crisis”.

McCain further underscored the urgent need for unimpeded access in Sudan to address the escalating food insecurity, which will have significant long-term impacts on the region.

The international official was in Renk in eastern South Sudan where almost 600,000 people have crossed from Sudan in the last 10 months. She visited the crowded transit camps where families arrive hungry and are met with more hunger.

SLM-TC leader criticizes Sudan's humanitarian access plan, calls for inclusive approach

...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
Liberation Movement — Transitional Council, criticized the Sudanese government’s decision regarding the entry of humanitarian aid. He urged the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
to engage with all parties involved in the conflict, including armed movements and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), to ensure aid reaches all affected areas.

On Wednesday, Sudan’s Foreign Ministry informed the UN about allowing humanitarian aid through designated sea, land, and air routes, including the al-Tina crossing connecting Chad to North Darfur, a government-controlled area.

In a statement to Sudan Tribune, Idris expressed concern over the UN’s limited consultation with the "Port Sudan government," as he calls it. He emphasized the importance of including all stakeholders, particularly armed movements and the RSF, arguing that securing aid delivery routes requires cooperation.

"The presence of other parties is crucial," Idris stated. "The UN should consult the armed movements and the RSF to agree on crossing points and routes from Chad. Securing these routes requires all parties’ participation to guarantee aid access to war-affected areas."

He further feared that aid might accumulate in government-controlled areas, failing to reach others.

"If the government and the UN fail to address this reality, other parties might independently engage with humanitarian organizations," Idris warned. "Such a scenario could create a situation akin to the Libyan model, with multiple governing bodies, which we must strive to avoid. Currently, the government controls a portion of the country, while other areas remain under the control of different groups."

Previously, humanitarian convoys from Chad entered Darfur under UN supervision. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the government’s recent ban, citing concerns about the RSF’s potential interference and weapon smuggling, drew criticism from the UN, US, and EU, prompting the revised approach.

Regarding aid distribution, Idris proposed overseeing the process by a high-level civilian committee selected under UN supervision and independent of gangs. The committee, he suggested, should comprise representatives from various regions and cities. He reiterated that the army, armed movements, and RSF be solely responsible for securing aid convoys to prevent attacks and theft.

Due to the lingering conflict, 25 million Sudanese people require humanitarian assistance, nearly 18 million of whom face critical food insecurity. The prolonged fighting has devastated livelihoods and crippled the nation’s industrial sector.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) issued a statement indicating their rejection of the government’s designated aid delivery routes through Port Sudan. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the RSF expressed their willingness to reach an agreement that ensures transparent border-crossing aid delivery based on well-defined principles.

The paramilitary force accused the army of weaponizing humanitarian aid by deliberately obstructing its access to the states of Darfur, Kordofan, al-Jazirah, and Khartoum.

Over 6,000 Syrian doctors work in Germany without a German passport: Data
[Rudaw] More than 6,000 Syrian doctors work in Germany without holding a German passport, according to data released by the German Medical Association.

Germany’s media on Sunday cited the association as revealing that a total of 63,763 doctors had worked in the country without holding a German passport as of December 31, 2023, adding that Syrians are on the top of the list. The data showed that the number had doubled since 2013.

German media cited Funke media outlet as having reported that 6,120 of these 63,763 doctors working in Germany last year were from Syria, followed by Romania, Austria, Greece, Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

It is not clear how many of these doctors are from the Kurdish-led northeast Syria (Rojava).

in 2011, leading to a full-scale civil war that has claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and has left millions more in need of dire humanitarian assistance.

Over 13 million Syrians, half the country’s pre-war population, have been displaced since the start of the civil war, more than six million of which are refugees who have fled the war-torn country, according to UN figures.

While the Syrian regime has managed through the years to regain control of large parts of the country from rebels, pro-Turkey militia groups are dominant in the northwest and the northeast of the country is under Kurdish control.

Germany has recently eased migration laws to allow skilled people to permanently remain in the country.

Lawfare: Canada sued by pro-Palestinian advocates over military exports to Israel
[IsraelTimes] Lawsuit in Canadian federal court claims ’substantial risk’ of war crimes posed by arms shipments since October 7; government says only ’non-lethal equipment’ being shipped

Pro-Paleostinian and human rights

advocates in Canada on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the federal government to stop it from allowing companies to export military goods and technology to Israel.

The lawsuit, filed in a federal court, argues that Canadian laws prevent military exports to Israel because there is "substantial risk" they could be used to violate international law and commit serious acts of violence against women and kiddies, according to a statement from the applicants.

Throughout nearly five months of war, triggered by Hamas

’s October 7 onslaught on southern Israel, Ottawa has authorized at least C$28.5 million ($21.0 million) worth of new permits for military exports to the Jewish state, more than the value of such permits allowed in the previous year, the applicants said.

The applicants include the Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights group, the Paleostinian organization al-Haq, and four individuals.

"Our policy on export permits has not changed. Canada has one of the strongest export controls systems in the world, and respect for human rights is enshrined in our export controls legislation," a spokesperson for the Global Affairs Canada department said in a written statement.

"In recent years, the government has not received, and therefore not approved, any export permits for weapons to Israel. The permits issued since October 7th, and in fact all permits that are currently open, are for non-lethal equipment," the spokesperson said.

India-Pakistan
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was not given a fair trial: Supreme Court
[GEO.TV] The Supreme Court of Pakistain on Wednesday issued its reserved opinion on the trial, sentence, and execution of the late prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
...9th PM of Pakistain from 1973 to 1977, and 4th President of Pakistain from 1971 to 1973. He was the founder of the Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP). His eldest daughter, Benazir Bhutto, would also serve as hereditary PM. In a coup led by General Zia-ul-Haq, Bhutto was removed from office and was executed in 1979 for authorizing the murder of a political opponent...
, saying that he did not get a chance to a "fair trial".

A nine-member bench of the top court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistain (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, reserved its opinion on the 2011 presidential reference seeking to revisit the sentence, and execution of the Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP) founder and former premier Bhutto on Monday.

The bench also comprises Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Musarrat Hilali.

"Zulfikar Ali Bhutto did not get a fair trial and it was not in accordance with the Constitutional requirement of due process," said CJP Isa while announcing the short order.

The court’s decision comes after nearly 12 years after a presidential reference seeking to revisit the sentence, and execution of the PPP founder and former premier was filed by former president and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
...former president of Pakistain, husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in...
Bhutto was executed on April 4, 1979, following a verdict of the Supreme Court in a murder case that his party termed as "judicial murder".

The reference — filed by Zardari on April 2, 2011, under Article 186 of the Constitution — was taken up by the Supreme Court’s 11-member larger bench headed by former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry which held five hearings of the reference.

On December 12, 2023, the reference hearing resumed under a nine-member bench headed by CJP Isa following a decision to fix an instant case under the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act, 2023.

The SC had appointed amicus curies with expertise on the criminal and constitutional sides, seeking their assistance, particularly on the matter of maintainability of the instant reference, pending with the court for 11 years.

Apart from CJP, the other members of the bench include Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Musarat Hillai.

The bench had reserved its opinion earlier this week after hearing all sides.

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. Israel faces no threat to its Olympic status ahead of the Gay Paree Games despite the conflict in Gaza, International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach confirmed Wednesday.

Some of the scattered calls Israel has faced for sporting sanctions since October have come from Russia, which is isolated in world sports because of its invasion of Ukraine.

Bach’s frustration with the Russian government and sports officials was clear in a one-hour online call with invited international media ahead of the Gay Paree Olympics that open July 26.

Iraq
Turkey to ‘secure’ Iraq border in the summer, says Erdogan
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
’s President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
on Monday said that Ankara is close to completing a zone that will "permanently resolve" the security issues along their border with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq by the summer.

"We are about to complete the circle that will secure our Iraqi borders," said Erdogan following the Ottoman Turkish government’s weekly cabinet meeting in Ankara.

"This summer, we will have permanently resolved the issue concerning our Iraqi borders," he added.

Erdogan also called on everyone in the region to respect Ankara’s security strategy, "Otherwise, they will be the cause of the tensions that will arise," he said.

Last month, Erdogan said that Ankara will take more "effective measures" towards securing its southern border and will have "largely completed fortifications" in the Kurdistan Region’s mountainous areas in the summer.

"During the summer months, we will have largely completed our fortifications in the Operation Claw region, allowing us to take far more effective measures," Erdogan said at the time.

Operations Claw are a series of military operations by the Ottoman Turkish army in the mountainous areas of the Kurdistan Region targeting positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), aiming to eradicate the group. The first iteration of Operation Claw was launched in May 2019 and was then followed by Operation Claw-Tiger in 2020. The third iteration of the offensive, launched in April 2021, consisted of two simultaneous cross-border campaigns, a ground campaign, and an air campaign, dubbed Operation Claw-Lightning and Operation Claw-Thunderbolt. A year later, Turkey launched Operation Claw-Lock.

Turkey has recently upped its attacks against the PKK in the Kurdistan Region. It has also intensified its targeting of Kurdish fighters in northern Syria due to their alleged ties with the PKK.

Kurdish civilians and rights organizations have criticized Turkey’s military campaign as civilian lives and property are frequently caught in the crossfire.

In late February, the Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT), a human rights

organization that monitors Turkey’s operation in the Kurdistan Region, told Rudaw that Ankara has conducted 1548 attacks in the Region in 2023.

Meet the squadron of photographers chronicling Israel’s protests for the world
[IsraelTimes] For the past four years, the Israel Democracy Photography and Drone Squadron has been providing voluntary free documentation of demonstrations for local and foreign media.

Over the last year, weekly protests have rocked Israel as citizens demonstrated against the judicial overhaul introduced by the government in January 2023.
Malice incarnate with an unreported antifa-style violence sauce.
Many saw the overhaul, which sought to strengthen the government at the expense of the judicial system, as a threat to democracy. Every Saturday night for most of last year, massive crowds erupted into the streets across the country to protest against what they saw as an undemocratic reform and called to preserve Israel’s democracy.

Telling the visual story from every protest was the Israel Democracy Photography and Drone Squadron, whose more than 300 stills and drone photographers and videographers documented every event and distributed the images to the media and the public free of charge.

The group was started in 2020 by Yair Palti and Amir Goldstein during what were known as the Balfour protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the COVID-19 lockdowns and Netanyahu’s ongoing corruption trials.
Before that it was Victory 2015 (V-15), the US State Department funded and US Democratic Party expert guided protests against Bibi’s reelection. The entire thing, refusing to accept the results of two decades of election results, was/is highly anti-democratic. Exactly what we’ve learnt to expect from the far-ish left of the political spectrum.
Similar to last year’s demonstrations, the Balfour protests saw crowds of Israelis protesting in multiple locations across the country with a focus on the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem, known as Balfour because it’s on the corner of Balfour Street.
That’s because they’re the exact same people, pivoting to whatever claimed cause they think will get the rubes to join them in being riled up.
"The group emerged out of necessity," Palti, who works in tech and does photography as a hobby, told The Times of Israel. "I realized that no media publication would be able to document a protest like that because it was very spread out and because the media was not really for the protests at the time."

To get the job done, Palti and Goldstein enlisted a group of both amateur and expert photographers who went all over the country to document protests.

During the Naftali Bennett-Yair Lapid government between June 2021 and November 2022, the organization had much less work, but with Netanyahu’s return to office and the introduction of his government’s judicial reform, it "took on new meaning and life," Margo Sugarman, head of the foreign media distribution group, told The Times of Israel.
The Never-Bibi crowd. Ugh.
Sugarman is a freelance marketing and writing consultant and, like Palti, is a hobby photographer. She joined the squadron because she felt she needed to do more for the pro-democracy protests than just attend them.

"I asked around to see where I could be of use and volunteer, and a friend hooked me up with the group," she said. "I began volunteering and eventually took over the international group."

As a former journalist, Sugarman said a combination of her professional experience and her hobby helps her identify which photos and videos, out of of the hundreds she receives, to distribute.

When the pro-democracy protests against the government’s judicial overhaul began, Palti called up the affiliated photographers, and the group grew far beyond what it had been during the Balfour protests.

"At first, our materials were only used for news articles," Palti said, "but now we’re also being approached by programs like ’60 Minutes’ [in the US] to provide media for TV specials, research, and more historical productions."

Maronite bishops reject 'implicating Lebanon in war' after Arabs distanced themselves

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? Tasnim: Iranian court confiscates oil from Advantage Sweet tanker en route to US
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The International Court of Tehran ruled to confiscate the cargo from the American tanker Advantage Sweet, detained by Iran in April 2023, at the request of patients with epidermolysis bullosa, the Iranian Tasnim agency reported.

According to journalists, the court considered the claim of those suffering from a rare hereditary skin disease against the United States.
…8.2 cases per million live births in America, What does that have to do with Iran?
Due to American sanctions prohibiting the import of medicines into Iran, they lost the opportunity to receive special bandages and medicines from Sweden. The court, having considered the complaint, issued a warrant for the confiscation of American oil transported by the tanker. The ship was arrested by court order.
American oil cannot possibly be an alternative treatment.
As Regnum reported, in April 2023, the US Central Command announced the detention of the Advantage Sweet tanker in the Gulf of Oman by the Iranian navy. Tehran confirmed the detention of the vessel, saying it crashed into an Iranian ship, killing two crew members.

In January 2024, the Iranian Navy detained the tanker St. Nikolas. The ship was previously named Suez Rajan. In 2023, he was detained by the US Navy and seized a million barrels of Iranian oil transported in circumvention of US sanctions.
