Prosecutors seek death penalty against Buffalo supermarket mass shooter who killed 10 in federal hate crimes case
[NYPOST] Federal prosecutors will seek the death penalty
against a white supremacist who killed 10 Black people at a Buffalo supermarket, they said in a court filing Friday.

Payton Gendron, 20, is already serving a sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole after he pleaded guilty to state charges of murder and hate-motivated domestic terrorism in the 2022 attack.

New York does not have capital punishment, but the Justice Department had the option of seeking the death penalty in a separate federal hate crimes case.

Gendron had promised to plead guilty in that case if prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty.

There was no immediate comment from the victims’ families or prosecutors.

The Justice Department has made federal death penalty cases a rarity since the election of President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Gave an airbase and billions in military hardware to the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
and called it an "extraordinary success"...
, a Democrat who opposes capital punishment.

Attorney General Merrick Garland instituted a moratorium on federal executions in 2021 pending a review of procedures.

Although the moratorium does not prevent prosecutors from seeking death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
s, the Justice Department has done so sparingly.

It successfully sought the death penalty for a antisemitic gunman who murdered 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

It also went ahead last year with an effort to get the death sentence against an Islamic krazed killer who killed eight people on a New York City bike path, though a lack of a unanimous jury meant that prosecution resulted in a life sentence.

The Justice Department has declined to pursue the death penalty in other mass killings. It passed on seeking the execution of a gunman who killed 23 people at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.

Relatives of the victims in Buffalo have expressed mixed views on whether they think federal prosecutors should pursue the death penalty in that case.

On May 14, 2022, Gendron attacked shoppers and workers with a semi-automatic rifle at a Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo after driving more than 200 miles (320 kilometers) from his home in rural Conklin, New York.

He chose the business for its location in a predominantly Black neighborhood and livestreamed the massacre from a camera attached to his tactical helmet.

The dead, who ranged in age from 32 to 86, included eight customers, the store security guard and a church deacon who drove shoppers to and from the store with their groceries. Three people were maimed but survived.

The rifle Gendron fired was marked with racial slurs and phrases including "The Great Replacement," a reference to a conspiracy theory that there’s a plot to diminish the influence of white people.

Does the Double Jeopardy Legal rule apply?
Or does the Biden Regimes and the DOJ need a PR boost going into 2024 election campaign season?

Given, this POS named Gendron had plead guilty to NY prosecutors and all involved agreed not to seek the death penalty and he is already serving time for it.

Federal Judge Lets West Point Keep Racist Admissions Policy, But It Might Not Last Long
[Federalist] On Jan. 3, Philip Halperin, a judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, denied a request to preliminarily enjoin the U.S. Military Academy at West Point from using race as a factor for selecting members of its incoming classes. The plaintiff, Students for Fair Admissions — which successfully litigated a similar lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court against Harvard University and the University of North Carolina in 2023 — had sued West Point. Students for Fair Admissions sought a preliminary and permanent injunction against the academy’s use of race in its admissions process.

Relying on its victory in Students for Fair Admissions v. President & Fellows of Harvard College, the organization argued that the equal protection principles embodied by the Fifth Amendment due process clause barred West Point from using race because the government lacked a "compelling" justification for not treating everyone equally. In that case, the court held neither Harvard nor UNC had established a compelling justification for a racially biased admissions process. But it left open the question of whether that ruling applied to the U.S. military academies because none of them was a party to that case.

Since then, Students for Fair Admissions sued the U.S. Naval Academy and West Point. In each case, the district court denied a request for a preliminary injunction. The courts concluded that they could not resolve the merits of the claims without the development of a factual record beyond the affidavits submitted by the parties.

America quietly grew 400,000 square miles last month - nearly twice the size of SPAIN
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The US Department of State (DOS) added six regions' submerged offshore areas, or extended continental shelf (ECS), to the total landmass, allowing the country to claim more surrounding ocean-floor territory.

The seven regions included the Arctic, the Atlantic (east coast), the Bering Sea, the Pacific (west coast), the Mariana Islands, and two areas in the Gulf of Mexico.

DOS said the US shifted geographic coordinates defining the outer limits of the continental shelf in areas beyond 200 nautical miles from the coast.

The largest area of America's ECS is in the Arctic, while all ECS regions span about twice the size of California.

Disney's Pixar Animation Studios to reportedly slash jobs
[NYPOST] Disney-owned Pixar, the animation studio behind blockbuster franchises "Toy Story," The Incredibles" and "Finding Nemo," is set to slash jobs, according to reports.

The studio has "completed production on some shows and now has more staff than it needs," Rooters reported on Friday, citing an anonymous source.

TechCrunch had reported earlier this week that Pixar will chop headcount by as much as 20% this year, reducing staffing to roughly 1,000 from the current 1,300 that work for the studio.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the anonymous source disputed that number, saying the studio had yet to determine how many will jobs will be cut, but added that the layoffs were "imminent."

Disney and Pixar did not immediately respond for requests seeking comment.

Disney CEO Bob Iger, who returned to the company in 2022 to turn the struggling entertainment and media giant around, has signaled the company will reduce the streaming content it makes in order to tamp down costs, and instead will license shows and movies from third parties.

The story outline has it starring Astrid, and the casting so far sucks. Predict another girl boss story with heavy exploration of Gobber being gay.

*There was an animated short which was a total failure and blasted by the trilogy generation. They, get this, made it set in make believe real world today and had a diverse set of friends with modern issues and dragons were there every once in a while. The design and animation quality was dog shit too.

Britain
Greta Thunberg statue returns to University of Winchester
[BBC] A statue of environmental campaigner Greta Thunberg has returned to a university's grounds after it was removed for repairs.

Installed in 2021, the £24,000 statue faced criticism from some students at the University of Winchester for being a "vanity project."

The life-sized artwork was removed last year for repairs to its plinth. The university said it can now be seen by the public in the courtyard garden of its West Downs Centre. At the time of its initial installation, students from the Winchester University and College Union (UCU) called it a a vanity project and questioned if the money could have been better spent.

The university believed it was the world's first life-sized sculpture of the "inspirational" Swedish environmental activist.

A University of Winchester spokesperson said: "As previously reported the statue was removed for repair and has been placed in the West Downs courtyard garden as planned,

"Where it can still be seen and enjoyed by the public along with the other works of art found on campus."

The 21-year-old S climate activist has become one of the world's best-known environmental campaigners since she held a "School Strike for Climate" outside the Swedish parliament in 2018. In November she pleaded not guilty to a public order offence after she was arrested at a protest in central London in October.

China-Japan-Koreas
China Stooges Lose Taiwan Election to Independence Stalwarts.
[National Pulse] Vice President William Lai, the candidate of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has claimed victory in Taiwan’s presidential election. According to results from 95 percent of the polling stations, Lai holds an insurmountable lead over his closest competitor, Hou Yu-ih of the opposition Kuomintang party, who has reportedly conceded defeat. Lai, who currently serves as Taiwan’s Vice President, has been a staunch advocate for Taiwan’s independence from China, rejecting President Xi Jinping’s territorial claims amidst increasingly hostile rhetoric.

Lai expressed his determination to safeguard Taiwan from ongoing Chinese threats and intimidation, insisting his government will aim to replace confrontation with dialogue in its exchanges with mainland China. Chen Binhua, the PRC’s Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman, warned last Wednesday that if Taiwan’s governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) “continue[s] to stubbornly adhere to their Taiwan independence position… we support the relevant departments taking further measures in accordance with the regulations.” Lai’s electoral success may incite tensions with China, which derided him as a dangerous separatist prior to the election and dismissed his calls for discussions. The DPP outrightly rejects the “one China principle”, considering Taiwan and Hong Kong indivisible parts of the country. Despite Taiwan’s independence since the 1940s, China persists in its claims over the island nation and its territories, and has threatened force to accomplish its objectives.

Meet the Congressional Black Caucus consultant paid lavishly to target HBCUs on behalf of a CCP group
[Yahoo - Fox] A longtime public relations consultant, who has worked closely with the Congressional Black Caucus and is currently serving as dean of Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism, has been paid lavishly to target Black universities and government officials on behalf of an organization with deep ties to the Communist Party of China (CCP).

Julia Wilson, whose global communications firm is across the street from the White House, has been paid over $1 million for her work as a foreign agent on behalf of China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), which is an influencing operation described by congressional lawmakers as a "forum designed to advance CCP objectives."

Wilson laid out the operation for college students in 2017 at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, which is the oldest of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Arkansas. The university's YouTube channel posted the presentation, which was titled "China Initiative," showing Wilson articulating how her firm’s relationship with CUSEF began in 2009 when Tung Chee-hwa, CUSEF's founding chairman, visited her D.C. office in 2009 to learn more about Black Americans.

"In 2009, the former chief executive of Hong Kong visited me in my office with his staff from the China-United States Exchange Foundation, and they wanted to know how we got a Black president," Wilson told the students during the presentation. "They were saying, 'We don't know anything about Black people. So can you write us a white paper and share it with us. How did Black people get enough power to vote a Black man into office?' So they really needed an overview of our history. Who are we? Who are African Americans?"

In addition to his role with CUSEF, Tung Chee-hwa served as a vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from 2005 to 2023. The CPPCC is the "key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation" under the leadership of the CCP, according to the CPPCC website. Fox News Digital previously reported on President Biden’s clean energy czar John Podesta saying he had the "highest regard" for his "friend" Chee-hwa.

Chee-hwa was also the Chinese official that Hunter Biden's longtime business partner, James "Jimmy" Bulger, requested him to introduce to their Chinese business partners to discuss "BHR investment targets" and "fundraising," alleging Hunter sat next to Tung at a 2013 dinner welcoming then-Vice President Joe Biden to Beijing, Fox News Digital previously reported.

One report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, a U.S. government agency, in 2018 said that the CPPCC is a "central part" of China’s United Front system, which works to "co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP)."

"So we started there, and then we created an African American Initiative in three different areas: education, business and civic affairs," Wilson told the students during her presentation. "So, in addition to the HBCU educational program that I'll talk about, we also manage a program for the Congressional Black Caucus members, of which there are 46, and there are students from the districts they represent. Those students can also study in China under this program."

[GEO.TV] In a bid to lower its expenses, Google has laid off hundreds of its employees from several departments including the engineering division, the hardware division that makes the Fitbit, and Pixel phone, as well as employees working under Google Virtual Assistant, Bloomberg reported.

The cuts continue a trend of tech layoffs after large companies such as Google, Meta, and Amazon laid off thousands of workers last year. Ten days into this year, more companies have announced job cuts.

Earlier on Wednesday, Amazon let off hundreds of employees from its MGM studios, Prime Video, and Twitch streaming service.

This month, Xerox announced plans to reduce its workforce by 15% of its 23,000 employees, while Unity Software, a provider of video game software, announced plans to slash 1,800 positions, or 25% of its workforce.

Since July 2022, Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, has pushed the corporation to narrow its focus and slash costs as the state of the world economy worsened.

Government Corruption
Maine: Brand-New Apartments For Illegal Migrants Unveiled, Paid For By State Taxpayers
[OAN News] In Brunswick, Maine, a new taxpayer-funded initiative aims to give undocumented migrants and asylum seekers free lodging for two years as the nation continues to struggle with feeding, housing, and supporting the influx of incoming foreigners.

In recent months, the surge in the number of illegal immigrants entering the United States has only continued to rise, which has presented a plethora of difficulties for officials in U.S. cities everywhere in regards to allocating resources for them.

Incoming and residing migrants have complained to reporters that they are having trouble finding consistent accommodation, especially in areas where there is already a housing scarcity for tax-paying American citizens.

While the majority of them have been lodging in hotels and shelters around the nation, one town in Maine is starting a new migrant program that will provide a number of free accommodations to those who apply, first come, first served.

According to Maine news station WCSH-TV, Brunswick, Maine, wants to offer at least 60 brand-new, furnished apartments for incoming migrants, 24 of which are already constructed. The apartments will be designed especially for "undocumented [foreigners] who are waiting up to a year for work permits."

The Maine State Housing Authority is in charge of the program, the local outlet reported.

The state will reportedly use money authorized by the state legislature in order to cover the cost of rent for all migrants interested in entering the free-housing program, WGME reported. State officials say that the program "has enough funds to cover rent for up to two years." However, if migrants find employment, they will pay "thirty percent of their rent."

After the two years of the program end for migrant families and solo individuals utilizing the free immigrant housing, the company Developers Collaborative will reportedly provide market-rate and affordable housing units that foreigners without documentation can apply for.

Why some people no longer work - Montana Food Stamp story
[Washington Examiner] Montana’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will begin its February payments, worth up to $1,751, in 21 days.

Montana distributes SNAP payments over five days each month, starting on the 2nd. February’s payments will be disbursed from Feb. 2 to Feb. 6. The date recipients get their payments depends on their SNAP case number, account number, Social Security number, or last name.

The household size of recipients determines the size of their SNAP payments. Single-person households receive $291 per month, while eight-person households receive up to $1,751 per month. In households larger than eight, $219 is added for each additional person.

To qualify for SNAP payments in Montana, a single-person household cannot have a net monthly income above $1,215, and an eight-person household cannot have a net monthly income above $4,214.

SNAP benefits can be used at participating locations, including farmers markets and grocery stores. The payments are automatically loaded on an electronic benefits transfer card every month.

To some, this may sound like cannibalism by proxy, but in fact their nutrients were paid for by the State and therefore belong to the State. After all, when they became part of SNAP, they literally became part of SNAP. Read the fine print.
