Afghanistan
Taxpayers Owe Half A Billion Dollars For DESTROYED Aircraft
[Daily Caller] U.S. taxpayers have to foot the bill $486 million dollars worth of aircraft the Defense Department decided to destroy, according to interim research conducted by the inspector general.

While all 20 of the G222 military transport planes purchased from Italy were supposed to see combat in Afghanistan, 16 of them are now being sold for scrap to an Afghan construction company for the total sum of $32,000, amounting to six cents per pound.

The other four planes are sitting dormant at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The program to purchase planes for the Afghan Air Force ended in 2013 after it was determined that the planes had serious performance and maintenance problems.
Same with Eyetalian sports cars, who'd buy one ?
Inspector general John Sopko for reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan expressed frustration at the sudden decision to destroy the planes, writing in a letter to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel that the Secretary must inform him first before similar plans are made to scrap the remaining four planes.
We don't listen to sour grapes IG reporting. Don't you have something better to do ?
Sopko’s investigation is ongoing, but sent the interim letters to try and prevent knee-jerk decisions from being made. He additionally requested the Air Force Secretary Deborah James to turn over documentation relevant to the decision-making process involved in scrapping the 16 planes and also asked for proof of whether any alternative plans were considered for the planes, such as pursuing refunds under warranty.
The dog ate forgot to mail in the warranty certificate ?
“We value the oversight provided by inspectors general and audit agencies, and incorporate their findings and recommendations into subsequent efforts,” Pentagon spokesman Maj. Brad Avots said in response to the concerns Sopko highlighted. “Working in a wartime environment such as Afghanistan brings with it many challenges, and we continually seek to improve our processes. The point of the destroying the planes, Maj. Avots added, was to minimize impact on drawdown of U.S. forces in Afghanistan.”
Process improvement? That Maj. Avots, top man indeed. Definite general officer material. BOEING officials smile approvingly.

#4  "Odierno told lawmakers that the C-27J “impacted very positively” on 82nd Airborne Division’s ability to accomplish its mission by delivering supplies to remote locations.Portman reenforced his point by asking Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno to describe the C-27J’s performance in Afghanistan.

“It’s important for us to sustain air assets dedicated to ground forces,” Odierno said. “The Air Force made the decision; they think they can do this with C-130s. If we get that same support — that is what we need. I would say that this has been supplied very successfully by the C-27.”

Portman seized on Odierno’s statements to criticize the Air Force for failing to consider the money C-27s save when compared to older aircraft.

“The C-27 does it for $2,100 per hour, the CH-47 does it for about $11,000 per hour, the C-130 does for between $5,100 to $7,100 an hour — so from a taxpayer perspective, the C-27 not only allows you to land on smaller air strips, it’s saving the taxpayer money,” Portman said. He wants to make sure the Pentagon isn’t pulling a capability out of theater that meets a requirement. “I have never seen the military do this before.”

Mississippi Republican Sen. Roger Wicker also made a point of asking Army officials about their involvement in the Air Force’s C-27 decision. He expressed concern when Odierno said he learned about the C-27’s demise at a joint meeting between the two services."

#5  The reason is that USAF hates anything that is tactical and not gold plated. This is the same crap that hapeneed with C23 Sherpas that were bought due to army pression for the same mission of small transport cargo in the 80's i think, but the Air force mafia hates that kind of missions, like it hates the A-10 so it sabotaged the Sherpas anytime it could.

Polio Surfaces Among Pakistani Immigrants in Khost
[Tolo News] Immigrants from northern Wazoo are entering Afghanistan's province of Khost
...which coincidentally borders North Wazoo and Kurram Agency...
carrying Polio disease that has many concerned of the chances of the disease spreading throughout other parts of the country.

Khost Director of the Public Health Department, Gul Ahmadshah, confirmed and registered three cases of polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
among the Pak immigrants, adding that 12 others are showing signs of being infected.

Provincial officials stress that the children from northern Waziristan have not been vaccinated since 2002 because of insecurities, Taliban threats and lack of knowledge on the disease.

One Pak immigrant, Abdul Malek, said that he did not believe the vaccination would prevent or treat the disease.

"Our kids have not been given the polio vaccination in the past years because we did not believe the vaccine could treat our kids," Malek said.

Although, the rate of polio disease in Afghanistan has reduced every year, there are concerns that the chances of contracting the virus will increase as Pak immigrants have not been treated. Ahmadshah emphasized that the disease is a risk to the entire country.

"Presence of the polio disease is a dangerous threat in Khost and the country. This is alarming."

There have been only nine cases of polio confirmed and registered in Afghanistan this year. Last year, 14 cases were registered; 37 in 2012; and eight in 2011.

Nearly 30,000 Pak families--180,000 people--fled their homes after a massive military operation in northern Waziristan against the Pak Taliban and are based in refugee camps in Khost, Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
and Paktia provinces of Afghanistan, according to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

Polio is a debilitating and potentially lethal virus that is contagious and spreads from person to person. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the virus "enters the body through the mouth and spreads through contact with the feces of an infected person...and less commonly through droplets from a sneeze or cough." The polio vaccination protects children by "preparing their bodies to fight the polio virus."

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) had warned of the increase in the number of polio cases due to the delay in providing efficient and sufficient health services to Pak immigrants.

Africa North
UNHCR: We need more money
[Libya Herald] The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has said that its efforts to provide healthcare, food and other basic commodities to Libya's internally displaced have been hampered by insufficient funding and limited access to affected areas caused by fighting among rival groups.

In a press briefing on Friday in Geneva, UNHCR spokesperson Adrian Edwards added that the number of displaced persons in Libya was growing -- it was now believed to be about 287,000 people in 29 cities and towns countrywide, he said.

Most of the displaced are staying with extended family members, while those who are unable to stay with relatives have sought shelter in schools, parks or non-residential buildings that have been converted into shelters, Edwards added.

The main area of recent displacement, he said, had been around the Warshefana district south west of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, causing some 100,000 people to flee over the past three weeks. The Benina area outside of Benghazi is the second area of concern, from which some 15,000 people have fled.

Because of the fighting between rival groups, access to warehouses with humanitarian supplies was often impossible, Edwards said. Therefore, more expensive cross-border aid convoys were the only way to get supplies to those who need them -- when security permits.

The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has called for an immediate ceasefire and access to carry out further assessment missions and distribution of humanitarian aid, but the appeal appears to have fallen on deaf ears.

The UN had issued a humanitarian appeal for Libya requesting additional funding to continue helping those affected by the ongoing crisis in the country, Edwards said.

Benghazi Revolutionaries' Shura Council: We are working to take control
[Libya Herald] Mohammed Al-Zahawi, the commander of Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
in Benghazi, has said in an online message that Benghazi Revolutionaries' Shoura Council (BRSC) is working to take control of the whole city and predicts that it will soon be completely under its control.

Zahawi's Ansar al-Sharia brigade is the largest and most active force in the Islamist BRSC coalition. The video statement posted on YouTube and Facebook is the first time that Zahawi has spoken for the council as a whole rather than his own brigade.

"Benina is encircled from all sides and we are working to deprive the enemy of all ammunition and other supplies," the Islamist leader said.

Over the last week, Benina Airport, to the east of Benghazi, has been rocked by some of the most intense fighting seen in the city since 2011. Last Thursday, a double suicide kaboom was carried out on Benina, one of the last positions held by Operation Dignity near the city, and followed by days of intense festivities.

While Ansar al-Sharia and its allies did not directly claim responsibility for the bombing, they released a statement showing strong support for the suicide kaboom.

Referring to BRSC as "the true revolutionaries", Zahawi said Khalifa Hafter, the leader of Operation Dignity, was a "traitor and a liar" and later called him "a puppet".

Zahawi added the pro-government forces had spread rumours and propaganda and had lured Libyans into fighting against the "mujahedin". He said his forces were making significant progress despite heavy losses.

On Wednesday the body of Saleem Nabous, a prominent member of the Benghazi Revolutionaries' Shoura Council was received at the BMC. An Islamist fighter, Nabous was the commander of a lesser known brigade, the Zintan Martyrs' Brigade.

The Ansar Commander said it was his desire to see stability in Benghazi but that the longer that stability took to achieve the more deaths there would be.

Britain
Malala invites Nawaz, Modi to attend Nobel ceremony
[DAWN] Education rights campaigner Malala Yousafzai
...a Pashtun blogger and advocate for girls' education from Mingora, in Swat. She started blogging at age 11-12. She was 15 when a Talib boarded her school bus and shot her in the head in 2012. She was evacuated to a hospital in Britain and the Pak Taliban vowed to kill her and her father. Among other awards, she received the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, which she deserved more than Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Yasser Arafat, or Rigoberta Menchu...
dedicated her Nobel peace prize on Friday to "voiceless" children around the world, and called on the Indian and Pak prime ministers to attend the award ceremony for the sake of peace.

The 17-year-old, who heard the news while she was in a chemistry lesson at school in Birmingham, central England, said she was honoured to be the youngest person and the first Pak to receive the accolade.

"The award is for all the children who are voiceless, whose voices need to be heard," Malala told a presser, held at the end of the school day so she wouldn't miss class.

Malala arrived in Britannia from Pakistain for medical treatment after being shot in the head by a Taliban fighter in October 2012, an attempt to silence her vocal advocacy of the right of girls to go to school.

Standing on a box so she could reach the podium at Birmingham's main library, the teenager joked that winning the Nobel would not help her upcoming school exams.

But she told an audience that included her parents and two younger brothers: "I felt more powerful and more courageous because this award is not just a piece of metal or a medal you wear or an award you keep in your room. This is encouragement for me to go forward."

The Norwegian Nobel Committee gave the award to Malala and Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi for their struggle against the repression of children and young people and "for the right of all children to education".

Malala said she had already spoken to Satyarthi -- she joked that she could not pronounce his name -- to discuss how they could work together, and also try to reduce tensions between their two countries.

To that end, she urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
to attend the Nobel award ceremony in December.

Australian govt warns Pakistani asylum-seekers against illegal entry
[DAWN] The Australian government is warning Pak asylum-seekers against attempting to illegally enter the country.
They come to Australia because Pakistain's an Islamic hellhole and they try and bring it with them. Eventually civilization has to cry "no more!"
In an advertisement printed in Pak newspapers on Friday, the Australian government warned readers against getting duped by people smugglers claiming they can transport them to Australian waters in hopes of getting asylum.

Written in bold at the top of the advertisement are the words: "NO WAY. You will not make Australia home."

"If you get on a boat without a visa , you will not end up in Australia. Any vessel seeing to illegally enter Australia will be intercepted and safely removed beyond Australian waters," reads the advertisement.

It adds that the rules apply to all: "Families, children, unaccompanied children, educated and skilled".

The ad is worded in English, Urdu, Pashto, Dari, and Hazargi languages.

"No matter who you are or where you are from, you will not make Australia home. Think again before you waste your money. People smugglers are lying," warns the Australian government.

The advertisement is part of a campaign "Operation Sovereign Borders", a military-led border security initiative by the government to combat maritime people smuggling and protect Australia's borders.

"Australia is serious about protecting its borders and will stop anyone who attempts to come illegally by boat...[People] should not believe the lies of smugglers and there is no way they will make Australia home," warns the government on the OSB website.

Australia has toughened its policy on asylum-seekers in recent years, with those arriving on unauthorised boats now refused residency in Australia even if they are deemed refugees.

Instead they are held in detention camps on nearby islands and are expected to be resettled in those countries if their claims are valid.

The Australian government has come under increased scrutiny for its treatment of asylum seekers, but the government claims its policies are meant to prevent people risking their lives at sea.

Spain to send 300 soldiers to train Iraqi troops

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. group.

Defense Minister Pedro Morenes said Friday that the troops, part of the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group, were not being sent to fight but added that anything could happen.

He said the seven-to-eight week operation was aimed at containing the advance of the Islamic State by training Iraqi troops in explosives handling, land mine clearance and special operations.

Parliament must approve the decision, but opposition is unlikely

It would be the first time that Spanish troops are in Iraq since Spain in 2004 withdrew the peacekeepers it sent there as part of the US-led invasion of Iraq.

Pakistani allowed to end US appeal
[Dhaka Tribune] US District Judge Richard Berman in Manhattan said that Aafia Siddiqui
...American-educated Pak cognitive neuroscientist who was convicted of assault with intent to murder her U.S. interrogators in Afghanistan. In September 2010, she was sentenced to 86 years in jug after a three-ring trial. Siddiqui, using the alias Fahrem or Feriel Shahin, was one of six alleged al-Qaeda members who bought $19 million worth of blood diamonds in Liberia immediately prior to 9-11-01. Since her incarceration Paks have taken her to their heart and periodically erupt into demonstrations, while the government tries to find somebody to swap for her...
, who is serving an 86-year sentence in a prison medical center in Texas, had "clearly and unequivocally" stated her intent to end the appeal.

The judge ordered the case closed and said that, even if the appeal had continued, he likely would have ruled against Siddiqui. She was represented at trial by an able team of five lawyers, Berman wrote. He declined to hold a hearing to question
Siddiqui further.

In May, a new lawyer filed the appeal on Siddiqui's behalf, but in July Siddiqui wrote a letter to Berman saying she had no faith in the US legal system and refused to
participate in it.

The injured were taken to Nishtar Hospital following the incident.

Fighting eases after days of Indo-Pak border skirmishes
[DAWN] Fighting in the disputed Kashmire region eased on Friday after days of cross-border strikes by Indian and Pak forces left at least 20 civilians dead and forced thousands more from their homes.

The lull in fighting followed some of the worst violence in a decade in the region, which is divided between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

"The firing last night was less intense than the previous night and confined to a smaller area," said an official with India's Border Security Force (BSF) on condition of anonymity.

An Indian police official told AFP that 10 civilians were maimed overnight on the Indian side of the border due to the fighting, but there were no deaths.

Pakistain confirmed late Thursday that three more civilians had died on its side of the disputed Kashmire region and in Punjab province, taking the toll up to 13. At least seven civilians have died on the Indian side this week.

Pakistain concluded on Friday that war against India was "not an option" after a meeting of top security officials chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
.

"The Committee stressed the fact that both countries are aware of each other's capabilities. War is not an option. It is shared responsibility of the leadership of both countries to immediately defuse the situation," an official statement said.

Meanwhile India threw the ball in Pakistain's court, saying "de-escalation is now entirely in Pakistain's hands".

"It is for Pakistain to either escalate or de-escalate. We will respond as appropriate to what will be their efforts in this regard," foreign ministry front man Syed Akbaruddin said at a presser in New Delhi.

He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that. since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture...
on Friday said they would protect the country's independence, integrity and national security at any cost, DawnNews reported.
[Scowl! Grimace!]
He said the negotiations suspended between Pakistain and India's foreign secretaries has endangered peace in the region.
Letting fly the artillery didn't?
Earlier in August, Delhi had called off the August 25 meeting of foreign secretaries of the two countries because of the Pak high commissioner's consultative session with a Hurriyat leader.
Pak envoy openly meets with guys subverting the state. What's not to like?
The interior minister was holding a presser soon after a meeting of the National Security Committee, with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
in the chair, condemned unprovoked firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary by Indian security forces.
The shootout in Poonch hasn't happened yet. It will.
PM Nawaz told the meeting that Pakistain's desire for peace should not be misunderstood and called upon India to immediately honour the sanctity of LoC and working boundary and halt firing for durable peace.
They'd like nothing so much as to nuke New Delhi. So far their dim little minds still comprehend something about losing Karachi and or Lahore. As soon as they can figure a way to confine the casualties to Brelvis and Shiites and Ahmadis and their political enemies they're all for it.
The interior minister said peaceful relations between countries was the best way to go about, adding that they would not accept India's domineering in the region.
In the interests of "peace," of course.
Nisar said 13 innocent Pak civilians had died as a result of Indian firing along the border. He said that they would apprise United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
chief Ban Ki Moon and five other nations of Indian's hostility.
"We got dead guys! See? Those guys are dead!"
He alleged that unprovoked firing by Indians seemed to have a specific purpose and said that it should recognise that Pakistain is a nuclear power.
What an awesomely stoopid statement.
Nisar said Pakistain would give a befitting response to India's aggression along the border, adding that the country's troops were fully capable in this regard.

Police desertions add to thinning of crowd at sit-ins
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: Ranks of the anti-government protesters camped outside Parliament House for weeks have thinned to around 1,200 people in the PAT camp and 200 in the PTI camp, Islamabad coppers told Dawn on Thursday.

The thinning of the crowd has been quite visible. But the officers also made the surprising disclosure that the ranks of police have also thinned in the meantime ‐ not just because of relocation but through desertions.

Almost 1,150 coppers have abandoned their duties since they were first deployed in the Red Zone on August 8 ‐ 743 of them since September 1 alone.

All of them are being looked for in the cities of Punjab and Azad Kashmire, where their units were called in from, to deal with the emergency created by the PTI and PAT intrusion and sit-ins in the Red Zone.

More than 25,500 security personnel - 8667 of Islamabad police, 11,827 from Punjab, 942 from Railways police, 1,015 from Azad Kashmire Police, along with 3,000 men from the Frontier Constabulary and 225 Rangers - were deployed at D-Chowk and Constitution Avenue for law and order and security duties.

Some 400 of them deserted during the month of August.

Last month, 7,327 personnel of the Punjab police were sent back to their native districts for rescue operations in the flood-affected areas and security on Eidul Azha days. Likewise, the entire contingent of the Railways police was withdrawn.

Homesickness and long duty hours at the sit-ins have caused frustration among the police contingents called from outside. Some of them started behaving angrily and abnormally.

"Sometimes, they vented their frustration on innocent citizens, creating problems for the capital police who had no control over them," sources said.

Two DSPs of the Islamabad police were the highest ranking deserters. "They and three inspectors are now officially being termed 'deserters'. It was an immoral act on their part," the coppers said, adding they set a bad precedent for the rank.

"We checked but there was no trace of them in Islamabad. It seems they went to their hometowns," the officers said. Three sub-inspectors, an assistant sub-inspector, three head constables and 94 constables of the Islamabad police have also deserted since September 1.

Punjab police's roll call of deserters included 138 from Lahore, 85 from Gujranwala, 67 from Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
, 60 from Multan, 51 from Farooqabad, 49 from Rawalpindi, 36 from Gujrat, 31 from Sailkot, 28 from Toba Tak Sing, 27 from Bahalupur, 21 from Sahiwal, 16 from Sheikhupura, 12 from Chakwal, six from Sargodha and three Jhang.

Nine AJK coppers deserted between September 1 and October 9, the sources added.

Their hometown and district police they belonged to have been asked to trace them out. "So far none has been found," the sources said.

Desire for peace should not be misunderstood: Asif
[DAWN] Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif said on Thursday that Pakistain's desire for peace and goodwill should not be misunderstood.

After several days of festivities in the disputed Kashmire region and along the Working Boundary, the defence minister's office issued a statement in Islamabad, warning the Indians that Pakistain was capable of responding "befittingly" to their actions on the border.

The minister, who is visiting the United States, later spoke to Dawn and urged Indians not to further escalate the situation, noting that the Indians have also been violating the Working Boundary between the two countries.

"Our demonstration of goodwill and desire for peace should not be misunderstood," he said. "We are still desirous to have lasting peace in the subcontinent and find a lasting solution to the Kashmire issue."

Mr Asif recalled that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
also expressed this desire in his speech to the UN General Assembly in New York two weeks ago.

"We are desirous of pursuing peace, but what India is doing is harming our efforts," the minister said. "It is discouraging peace."

Times have changed, warns Modi
[DAWN] Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned Pakistain on Thursday that times had changed and ceasefire violations that New Delhi accuses Islamabad of carrying out across the Line of Control and adjoining international border in Jammu and Kashmire, would not be tolerated, reports said.

"Today, when bullets are being fired on the border, it is the enemy that is screaming," Mr Modi told an election rally in Maharashtra where state polls are scheduled to be held on Oct 15.

"The enemy has realised that times have changed and their old habits will not be tolerated," Mr Modi was quoted as saying.

The Indian Express said the remarks were in response to political opponents who have charged the prime minister with not speaking directly about this week's festivities -- the worst in a decade.

Mr Modi took a different view. "When there is a challenge at the border, it is soldiers who answer with fingers on the trigger; it is not for politicians to respond."

The comments also came a day after Mr Modi raised hopes for an early end to the flare-up when he said: "Everything will be fine soon."

Indian analysts, including a former envoy to Islamabad, blamed Pakistain for starting the heavy ordnance exchange across the border but added that the flare-up was tame compared to the relentless firing, which went on almost daily prior to their 2003 ceasefire agreement.

Jammu and Kashmire Chief Minister Omar Abdullah differed with the government's decision not to hold any flag meetings between the two militaries during the current upsurge. "The government says there won't be any talks until Pakistain stops firing completely. It is precisely when the firing is on that we need to talk not when the guns go silent."
Except that there was a ceasefire agreement back in August, which was approximately sixty days ago. If you've got a ceasefire and the other guy fires, is fire still ceased? How so?

RAB probing explosion links to Bangladesh
[Dhaka Tribune] Law enforcement officials are investigating alleged links between Bangladeshi Islamist turbans and the October 2 kabooms that shook the Indian town of Bardhaman and could send shock waves to the West Bengal political establishment.

The director of the RAB intelligence wing, Lt Col Abul Kalam Azad, yesterday told the Dhaka Tribune that his organization had started an investigation into the kabooms and that Sherlocks were trying to verify the names and identities that had emerged from the ongoing Indian investigation.

In a statement yesterday to journalists at Banglabandha Land Port in Panchagarh, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan said India had not officially informed Bangladesh about the nationality of the two people killed in the blasts.

"We are always against terrorism. We will not allow anyone to use our land to conduct krazed killer or terrorist activities against our country or neighbouring India," Asaduzzaman added.

Indian officials investigating the October 2 blasts in the town of Bardhaman have said the detonated explosives were being manufactured in order to commit acts of terrorism in Bangladesh, according to a Hindustan Times report.

On Thursday, the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry asked the Indian High Commission in Dhaka for details of the investigation.

On Friday, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said Bangladesh had sought India's cooperation in this regard.

"We have asked our intelligence officials to gather the information and we will provide it to Bangladesh officials as soon as we have it," Akbaruddin said.

The Indian police's criminal investigation department (CID) findings are likely to cause the Mamata Banerjee government, already under fire for failing to crack down on anti-Bangladesh terrorist groups operating out of her state, embarrassment.

This is the first instance of hard evidence showing that Indian territory was being used as a base for terrorist operations against Bangladesh, the Hindustan Times said.

In the aftermath of the October 2 kabooms Indian police tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
turbans allegedly belonging to the banned terrorist outfit Jama'atul Mujahedin Bangladesh, amid allegations that the government was attempting to play down the Bangladeshi connection and criticism that the CID was not handling the investigation properly.

The Indian central government intervened on Thursday, handing the investigation over to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), after one of the four people arrested in connection with the kabooms allegedly told Sherlocks that the bombs were being assembled for terror strikes in Bangladesh.

Palestinian Allegedly Killed For Selling Silwan Homes To Jews
[IsraelTimes] A resident of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan was stabbed to death Thursday evening, with local residents reportedly saying that he was killed in a dispute over selling property to Israeli Jews.

The unnamed man, said to be about 50 years old, was taken to Jerusalem's al-Maqased Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!
According to Silwan residents who spoke to Haaretz, the slain man and his killer were both members of one of the families into whose building seven Israelis recently moved. The argument that prompted the alleged murder had to do with an adjacent apartment block, where units were also sold to Israeli Jews, the report said.

Wary Of Riots, Police Restrict Temple Mount Access
[IsraelTimes] Police placed restrictions Friday on the entry of Moslem worshipers to Jerusalem's Temple Mount and the al-Aqsa Mosque compound for fear that riots would break out at the site following the conclusion of prayers.

Moslem men above the age of 50, as well as Moslem women of all ages, were allowed to access the holy site, while worshipers under 50 were barred from attending services at the mosque, Israel Radio reported.

Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, activists in the West Bank urged Paleostinians to attempt to enter the al-Aqsa Mosque compound despite the limitations ordered by police, the report said.

Prayers were attended by some 5,000 people, and concluded without incident, police said later.

The Temple Mount has seen frequent festivities between Israeli security forces and Moslem worshipers, due to a commonly perceived belief among the local Islamic community of Jewish encroachment on the contested site, which is holy to both religions.

On Wednesday, police and masked rioters clashed at the area, as tensions ramped up ahead of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Four coppers were maimed in the festivities, and 15 arrests were made, according to police. The Paleostinian Ma'an news agency reported dozens of Paleostinians were maimed in the festivities as well.

The fighting began when masked youths threw rocks, iron bars, cinder blocks and Molotov cocktails at coppers at the Mughrabi Gate, which was opened to non-Moslem visitors earlier in the day.

Police chased the demonstrators toward the al-Aqsa mosque, where they barricaded themselves inside and continued hurling objects in the direction of the police, said police spokeswoman Luba Samri.

Samri continued that the Paleostinians had prepared for the confrontation ahead of time, and had set up obstacles at the holy site to slow down police. She said the Paleostinians threw Molotov cocktails and rocks at police from within the mosque.

Police responded with "nonlethal riot-control means," added Samri.

A radical Islamic holy man in Israel, Raed Salah, had called on Moslems to be present at the mosque Wednesday morning. About 30 young Paleostinians slept at the mosque the previous night in preparation for the confrontation, according to Paleostinian eyewitnesses.

Last month saw violent festivities in and around the Temple Mount compound ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

The festivities came amid an uptick in inter-ethnic violence in Jerusalem over the past several months, with incidents of East Jerusalem rioters hurling stones and Molotov cocktails and using fireworks as a weapon.

Police have cracked down on the protests, arresting suspected rioters in overnight sweeps and bolstering their presence in flash-point areas.

Security forces said Wednesday they had tossed in the clink
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
two men in their 20s for throwing stones at passing cars and the Jerusalem Light Rail.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered police to up patrols in East Jerusalem Tuesday, saying he would not allow riots to become the norm.

The Temple Mount, which is the site of the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque, is considered the third-holiest site in Islam and the holiest site for Jews as it was the location of the two ancient Jewish temples.

In September, an addition to the Mughrabi Bridge -- meant to boost the flow of non-Moslem visitors to the Temple Mount -- was dismantled after it was deemed "illegal" by Netanyahu. The move, which was praised by Jordan and the Islamic authorities of the site, was seen by some as an attempt to decrease tensions.

Egypt to host donor conference for war-hit Gaza Strip
[ARABNEWS] Envoys from dozens of countries will gather Sunday for a conference that aims to raise billions of dollars to rebuild conflict-battered Gazoo, despite fears of renewed violence and "donor fatigue."

The United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
' Paleostinian refugee agency has described the financial needs as "unprecedented" ahead of the Cairo meeting, which follows the Gazoo Strip's third war in six years.

But it is unclear how generous the world is willing to be given the intractability of the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict and other priorities in the region such as the fight against radical holy warriors in Syria and Iraq.

About 50 countries will be represented in Cairo for talks that will include UN Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
, US Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
, 30 foreign ministers and various international monetary and humanitarian bodies.

The Paleostinians have called for more than $4 billion in aid, and the Paleostinian refugee agency UNRWA for $1.6 billion.

Other estimates suggest up to $8 billion will be needed to repair damaged infrastructure and homes, and ensure health care, education and clean drinking water.

The bloody 50-day conflict between Israel and Gazoo holy warriors left almost 2,200 Paleostinians dead along with 73 on the Israeli side.

More than a quarter of Gazoo's population of 1.7 million was displaced. Even so, a Western diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, warned there was considerable donor fatigue. "We have seen infrastructure projects that we have contributed to which have been destroyed," the diplomat said.

Money raised in Cairo will also go toward getting Gazoo's economy back on its feet.

Al Nusra Frees Priest, Other Christians In Syria
[IsraelTimes] priest and 20 other Christians kidnapped by al-Qaeda-linked rebels in Syria this week were released Thursday, the Franciscan order said.

"Father Hanna Jallouf has been released this morning... He is under house arrest at the convent of Qunyeh," the order said, without providing further details.
Ready to hand the next time he needs to be kidnapped.
A Franciscan spokeswoman later confirmed to AFP that the other captives were also released.

Rebels linked to the al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
Front -- al-Qaeda's Syria branch -- kidnapped Jallouf and the others Sunday in the northwestern village of Qunyeh, near the Turkish border, the order said.

A local activist said al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
had been trying to take over some of the Franciscan properties in Qunyeh, prompting Jallouf to complain to an Islamic religious court last week.

Al-Nusra rebels have seized several Christian and Moslem villages in the area during the course of Syria's three-and-a-half-year civil war.

The Franciscans, a Roman Catholic religious order that has operated in the country for more than eight centuries, have 19 people working there. They have been working in Qunyeh for 125 years, the activist said.

Kidnapping is rife in Syria, with all sides accused of abducting people.

Civilians have often been targeted for ransom, while Lions of Islam such as al-Nusra and the Islamic State

group have seized journalists, aid workers and soldiers, as well as civilians and rival opposition fighters.

In recent months, IS has beheaded two journalists, both American, and two British aid workers.

In August, rebels that included al-Nusra kidnapped more than 40 Fijian UN peacekeepers in the Syrian-held sector of the Golan Heights. The troops were released two weeks later.

Still missing in Syria are two senior Aleppo holy mans -- Archbishop Gregorius Yohanna Ibrahim, of the Syriac Orthodox Church; and Bishop Boulos Yazigi, of the Greek Orthodox Church -- kidnapped in April 2013, and Italian Jesuit Father Paolo Dall'Oglio, taken by rebels three months later.

Blast At Suspected Iran Nuke Facility Was Caused By 'Foreign Country'
[IsraelTimes] An unnamed foreign country was responsible for the blast at Iran's secretive Parchin facility on Monday, a Kuwaiti news site claimed Thursday, quoting unnamed Washington-based European diplomats.

The report by Kuwait's Al Rai also claimed Western intelligence agencies believe that Iran has been conducting tests at the facility, aimed at loading nuclear warheads onto ballistic missiles.

It was the Monday strike, the report further said, that prompted Iran to order Hezbollah to target an Israeli army patrol on the Israeli side of the Israel-Leb border the next day, in which two soldiers were maimed.

#6  Ok, I looked at the imagery, and I looked at the imagery currently on Google Earth. There were at LEAST three different explosions, but only one of those was co-located with a building. That building was totally destroyed, and there was a crater where the western end of the building had been. There was major damage to a building immediately south of the destroyed building, and the trees were totally stripped of leaves and most branches to the west. There was another explosion that destroyed a building to the south of the first building destroyed. There wasn't as much collateral damage at that building, and no crater. The third explosion occurred between two buildings, apparently started a small fire, and took the roof off the building to the north. A building to the south of the area was also damaged, but not as extensively. NONE of these buildings were "bunkers", and none had any earthworks or other blast deflectors around them. Compare these to the buildings at the ammo/munitions plants to the north and south of the location where the explosions took place to see the difference. The Google image location is 35.31.38N, 051.46.22E.

I tried to paste an image, but can't. Fred, let me know if you want to get the image.

UN: Kobani massacre looms
[ARABNEWS] Thousands of people "will most likely be massacred" if Kobani falls to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
fighters, a UN envoy said on Friday, as faceless myrmidons fought deeper into the besieged Syrian Kurdish town in full view of Turkish tanks that have done nothing to intervene.

UN envoy Staffan de Mistura said Kobani could suffer the same fate as the Bosnian town of Srebrenica, where 8,000 Moslems were murdered by Serbs in 1995, Europe's worst atrocity since World War Two, while UN peacekeepers failed to protect them.

"If this falls, the 700, plus perhaps the 12,000 people, apart from the fighters, will be most likely massacred," de Mistura said.

The UN believes 700 mainly elderly civilians are trapped in the town itself and 12,000 have left the center but not made it across the border into Turkey.

"Do you remember Srebrenica? We do. We never forgot and probably we never forgave ourselves," said de Mistura, the UN peace envoy for Syria. "When there is an imminent threat to civilians, we cannot, we should not, be silent."
Pious wailing is of no more help to the Kurds than silence, and no more worthy in the eyes of God and history. Get off your pious ass and do something useful right now, or stop pretending to care.
Intense fighting between Islamic State fighters and outgunned Kurdish forces in the streets of Kobani could be heard from across the border. Warplanes roared overhead and the western edge of town was hit by an air strike, apparently by US-led coalition jets.

But even as Washington has increased its bombing of Islamic State targets in the area, it has acknowledged that its air support is unlikely to be enough to save the city from falling.

"Our focus in Syria is in degrading the capacity of (Islamic State) at its core to project power, to command itself, to sustain itself, to resource itself," US Deputy National Security Adviser Tony Blinken said. "The tragic reality is that in the course of doing that there are going to be places like Kobani where we may or may not be able to be effective."

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
terrorism experts have warned that faceless myrmidons from the Islamic State could turn themselves into Ebola "jacket wallahs" against the Western world.

IS or other terrorist groups could simply dispatch individuals to Ebola-infected areas in West Africa where they would intentionally infect themselves and then spread the virus through the world's air transportation network.

Capt. Al Shimkus, a professor of national security affairs at the US Naval War College, said the scenario was plausible. "The individual exposed to the Ebola virus would be the carrier," Shimkus told Forbes.

Prof. Anthony Glees, director at Buckingham University's Center for Security and Intelligence Studies, also warned that Lions of Islam may consider such a plan.

"In some ways it's a plausible theory ‐ IS fighters believe in suicide and this is a potential job for a suicide mission. They are sufficiently murderous and well-informed to consider it, and they know that we've been remiss in the UK," Glees told Forbes.

#2  This one will be on the Champ. Kobani sits on perfect geography for a vertical insertion and push to the Turkish border. Of course if you don't wish to face the embarrassment of ISIS vaporizing across the Turkish boarder under the protection of Turkish M60 tanks........why bother, right ?

Erdogan Bey: Assad waging 'state terror'
[ARABNEWS] Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
on Friday accused Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor. If he'd stuck with it he'd have had a good practice by now...
of waging "state terror," equating the crimes of the Damascus regime with those of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. turbans.

Ankara is concerned that the focus of the US-led coalition on fighting IS snuffies will take attention away from Turkey's long-standing aim of toppling the Syrian leader.

In a speech to the thousands of supporters in the Black Sea city of Trabzon, Erdogan said the Assad regime and IS were both terror groups who should be dealt with accordingly.

"We cannot leave their fate into the hands of the murderer Assad who is waging a state terror," said Erdogan, referring to the 1.5 million Syrian refugees that Turkey has taken in during the conflict.

"We have always displayed a principled stance toward all terrorist organizations. We are not discriminating against terror organizations, saying this one is good or this one is bad," he said in the televised speech.

"We have adopted the same stance toward ISIS," he said using a variant of the name for IS. "But other terrorist organizations pose a threat to us too."

Earlier, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said: "Turkey is against ISIS just the same way that it is against Assad."

"Assad and ISIS are both responsible for all these events and tragedies," he told news hounds in Ankara.

He added: "No one can prove that Turkey is supporting ISIS."

Turkey has been reluctant to intervene militarily against IS forces of Evil trying to take the mainly Kurdish town of Kobani just across the border, despite having parliamentary authorization for military action in Syria.

Davutoglu ridiculed Turkey's main opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who suggested that Parliament should issue a separate mandate for Turkish military action in Kobani.

"Are we going to issue a separate mandate for each province or district? It's such a ridiculous proposal," Davutoglu scoffed.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Don Smilzo looked for an avenue of escape. The only window opened a hundred feet above the moat. The nearest of the hired assassins hold a bloody axe.
The window was looking better all the time....

at least 31 people have been killed and 360 others injured in a four day "spiral of violence" in Turkey led by pro-Kurdish protesters demonstrating against the government's policy on Syria, the interior minister said Friday.

Efkan Ala pledged that the government would press on with efforts despite the violence to make peace with Kurdish rebels who have a waged a 30-year insurgency for self-rule in the east of Turkey.

In addition to the toll of 31 people killed in protests, two coppers were rubbed out in the southern city of Bingol late Thursday while inspecting the scene of a demonstration, Ala told news hounds.

Bingol province's police chief was seriously maimed in the attack.

Five "terrorists" suspected of gunning them down were themselves killed by the security forces, Ala confirmed.

"This spiral of violence should immediately be stopped," he said in a statement.

#2  They don't get it. Either they can't talk about it, or just flat do not get it.

OK, I love food. Sandwiches, hot wings, open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and beef gravy, adobada, sushi, you get the point. Wife has me on a good diet - chicken and rice, carrots, juice, vegetarian lasagne, mahi mahi with gnocci, etc.

Buddy calls me up, tells me he knows how much I like cheesesteak sandwiches, man vs food is having a marathon and I should check it out. So I do. Watch hours of it. Dude stops in a restaurant not too far off, say Kansas City, I go, "Family I think we should go to this restaurant." (or if I'm single, its party time road trip excuse). Get there, finish the challenge, take a selfie.

During this whole ordeal, a 30 second commercial by Mrs. Obama in pouty face telling me I should eat my kale is laughable.

First of all, I had already been eating better than kale, and after winning the triple bbq meat sandwich and homemade fry challenge and brag posting it, its not that there is no going back to rabbit food, its that I would never have gone rabbit to begin with.

That is the West's propaganda effort. It sucks. Its off message, and the message lack character.

These head chop shots are like coming of age pics, like first fish caught, or first paid for car. First the jihadi has to decide to try out for ISJV, has to get there, along the way the sick and stupid are found out, robbed, turned in. Past that marker of actually getting there, they have their loyalty oath video where they stomp on their passport and measure each other's jihad with verses and speeches. The greatest hits get aired. Training, combat, victory, then the trophy shot. Those get published, not only as propaganda but affirmation.

Then there are the hunt down the enemies of ISJV and the war shots intended to show the superiority of ISJV and its tactics, also intended to dishearten opponents.

Then there are the graffitti shots of what they are calling targets, pics of the White House, Grand Central, various infrastructure targets, people.

Now from what I understand to be considered a reporter able to take video - there is a strict you die penalty for recording or photographing without a license - person must toss bagdaddy's salad, swear to the islamic cauliflower, and submit all media to central censors for approval. Uploading is a big no no, probably get flayed alive and fed your skin, as not only do they want to control the content and volume, but also time and locationn of events, make sure VIPs are properly accounted for

Show the full 100 people being hauled to the bank of the Tigris, shot in the head, and tossed in, the audience becomes numb or worse (if you are ISJV) outraged. Only show 10, and the audience (not ISJV in this case, though it does recruit like-minded jihadi wannabes) gets the point yet leaves open the possibility of just an isolated event, leaves doubt enough to want to surrender.

They troll trending events, like the World Cup. Public executions in the virtual town square. In a word, unabashed. Its the clarity of the overall messaging which is winning the media jerk. We counter with #bringbackourgirls, wtf is that if not from their perspective, submission.

Simple fact is, the US is uninterested in winning th media because this administration does not want to ring the bell for whatever reason, especially before elections or any other media blitz they have going at the moment, such as World Cup, or race hustling, or gun grabbing. The US is losing because they are putting in Glass Joe on purpose. There are probably (making this number up) 5,000 ISJV trophy and passport stomps for each hashtag handle.

The only thing worse would be if the US most savvy media evah was actually trying, and just getting the snot pounded out of them.

#3  I would like to add that the Kurds and Kobane are doing a well job media wise.

Knowing that propaganda is getting those who want to believe, to believe, the photo put out the other day, "Dead 13 year old girl, brother comforted by Kurd fighters" was solid. Showing off the gals fighting is good work as well. These are "Why We Fight" and are important especially in contrast to the ISJV "Why We Fight" beheadings and massacres.
