#2  There's a big difference, Paul D. First, the Taliban are lowly Pakistanis instead of lordly Arabs and near-Arabs. Second, while the Afghan Taliban look only at conquering Afghanistan and Pakistan, Al Qaeda looks at the entire world, trying to coordinate with various groups on efforts in their various areas of operation. Finally, the Taliban are financed by crime and the Afghan opium crop, whereas Al Qaeda is financed by it's cut of the Spanish American cocaine trade... as far as I can tell.

Security heightened in Sinai as Egypt arrests Hamas official
Egyptian security is on high alert in Sinai due to intel about planned Paleo rocket attacks from Egypt on Israel. Officials are investigating reports of plans to smuggle rockets from Gaza into Egypt and then fire them into Israel.
I guess they're tired of Israeli jets screaming overhead each time, and think Egypt should get to share the fun, willing or no. Such lovely people. Just the kind who should get their own country.
The officials say that police and private agents been deployed along the border, at entry points to Sinai and along checkpoints. Sources say that Egyptian forces were persuing a Paleo terror cell through Sinai.

Israeli intelligence sources claim that Hamas has made a decision to increase terrorist attacks against Israel -- from both the Gaza Strip and from the West Bank -- to scuttle the peace talks.

While Hamas is not always directly behind the attacks it allows proxies to launch rockets and mortars into Israel. Hamas has been restraining them from carrying out larger attacks recently.

Meanwhile, a top Hamas security official, Muhammad Dababish (aka Abu Radwan), was arrested at Cairo airport for using phony travel documents.

Hamas said that Dababish's arrest would lead to a deterioration in relations with Egypt and called for his release. "We will operate in a manner which will force the Egyptian leadership to release Abu Radwan," said a Hamas statement.
What, they'll smuggle rocket launchers into Egypt, so the Egyptians can share the pleasure of an Israeli response?

Michael Moore Raises $50,000+ for Ground Zero Mosque
Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore says he has raised over $50,000 for the construction of a mosque and Muslim community center near Ground Zero.

Moore made an appeal to his supporters on the ninth anniversary of 9/11 for donations to the construction project, pledging to match contributions up to $10,000.

Less than 48 hours later, five times that amount had poured into the contribution coffers as hundreds of people from around the country heeded Moore’s call.

"Times are tough economically, and supporting our Muslim brothers and sisters is not a popular thing to do right now," Moore said on his blog. "I am truly touched by your generosity — and people around the world will know that you, too, represent an America they rarely get to see."

The proposed mosque, known as Park51, will include a swimming pool and a theater and is expected to cost more than $100 million.

More than 70% of the American people oppose its construction.

Moore on his blog took these people to task.

"Blaming a whole group for the actions of just one of that group is anti-American," Moore wrote. "Timothy McVeigh was Catholic. Should Oklahoma City prohibit the building of a Catholic Church near the site of the former federal building that McVeigh blew up?"

In a further attempt to add gas to the fire, Moore urged Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, who is spearheading the Park51 project, to build the new mosque not two blocks from Ground Zero but on Ground Zero.

“I am opposed to the building of the "mosque" two blocks from Ground Zero. I want it built on Ground Zero,” Moore said.

The director rationalized this statement by insisting that Islam was "stolen" from the real Muslims at the Twin Towers, and it should be given back to them on the same spot.

“There is a McDonald's two blocks from Ground Zero. Trust me, McDonald's has killed far more people than the terrorists,” Moore added.

In his statements, Moore likened Mohammad Atta and the other 9/11 terrorists to the Catholics on the Supreme Court. He wrote:

“Let's face it, all religions have their whackos. Catholics have O'Reilly, Gingrich, Hannity and Clarence Thomas - - in fact all five conservatives who dominate the Supreme Court are Catholic. Protestants have Pat Robertson and too many to list here. The Mormons have Glenn Beck. Jews have Crazy Eddie. But we don't judge whole religions on just the actions of their whackos. Unless they're Methodists.”

#3  "Blaming a whole group for the actions of just one of that group is anti-American," Moore wrote.

So, why broad brush all white Americans for the actions of a few who had slaves, which was the going cultural institution through out the world at the time, and ignore the Americans that didn't and those who paid with their lives to be among the first in human history to destroy the institution? Or cripple generations of young whites who never had one thing to do with the segregation of their grandfathers? Seems you and your kind can never give up that little 'blame everyone' game.

#8  The Worship House of Ramadamadingdong would like to invite our vast congregation to Michael Moore's house for a 5am service.

Sunday morning, October 10.

Bring your family and vuvuzelas, car horns and all sorts of loud instruments like drums and trumpets.

Our Dear Lord commandeth worship in the form of making lots of loud loud noise in His Honour at 5am on Sundays and also on Mondays.

Sometimes randomly at 5am midweek also.

And if anybody says that Dear Lord did not command this they are lying and have offended the religion. They must be flogged maybe even executed.

Dear Lord commands that we his faithful congregation must celebrate his creating the earth at Michael Moore's house.

If he opposes our freedom to worship our Dear Lord as we see fit, he is un-American.

Does anybody have Michael Moore's address? Dear Lord commands we also film our worship and put it on You Tube.

Musharraf wanted to hand over Qadeer to US
[Bangla Daily Star] Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had all intentions of handing over nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan to the United States, former Prime Minister Mir Zafar Ullah Khan Jamali has disclosed.

Jamali said that he had summoned a cabinet meeting over the issue of the nuclear scientist and clearly told Musharraf that though he might be the president, but the government would not hand over Khan to the US, The Nation reports.

Upon the Cabinet's refusal, Musharraf over-turned his government, he added. Meanwhile, Qadeer Khan has endorsed Jamali's statement, calling him gentle, honest and sombre.

He added that he knew the former prime minister as a patriotic and loyal person, and had never seen him cheating anyone. Jamali's disclosure was absolutely correct and Pervez Musharraf was a traitor who has sold out his own country, Dr Khan claimed.

Punjab has turned into a 'police' state: Awan
[Dawn] Law Minister Babar Awan on Sunday stated that Punjab is the only province in which the Cabinet is incomplete.
Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Awan said that Punjab administrators were working unlawfully and they either needed to be removed or brought to justice.

Awan said that Punjab carried 60 per cent of the country's population and that it was turning into a 'police' state.

He said that the government was obeying all Supreme Court orders and that the country had high hopes from the Parliament and no changes would occur before 2013. He said that if PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif wanted to change aspects of the Parliament, then it was important for him to become a part of the Parliament first.

He said that National Assembly and Senate sessions have been summoned tomorrow.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Olmert details failed peace offer
[Al Arabiya] Former Israeli premier Ehud Olmert said on Sunday the United States had agreed to accept some 100,000 Paleostinian refugees within the framework of an eventual Middle East peace deal, media reported.

Washington had agreed to absorb and give citizenship to 100,000 refugees,
All of whom would have been here legally, and therefore would no have been deported after 9/11. Let us be grateful for the unexpected twists and turns of history, as it's quite certain some of them would have been plotting mischief here instead of over there.
while Israel would accept less than 20,000, Israeli media quoted Olmert as telling a conference.

"The numbers discussed were below 20,000, but this would require an end to the conflict and a Paleostinian announcement that they would not make any more demands," the Ynet website quoted him as saying.
Not something the Palestinians were capable of then. Nor now, it has been demonstrated
.Olmert was speaking at a conference in Tel Aviv organized by the Geneva Initiative, an Israeli-Paleostinian group that aims to show a peace accord is possible.

The former prime minister held peace talks with the Paleostinians from November 2007 until they collapsed when Israel began its devastating military 22-day offensive against the Islamist-ruled Gazoo Strip just over a year later.

"If we had reached an agreement, it would have changed the map of the world and the entire Middle East. We are not to blame. If there is no agreement, it's because the Paleostinian side was not prepared to take the extra step that we made," Olmert was reported as saying.

The issue of Paleostinian refugees is expected to be one of the thorniest issues in the renewed direct Israeli-Paleostinian peace talks that resumed in the United States at the beginning of the month.

The Paleostinians want Israel to recognize the "right of return" of the Paleostinians who fled or were expelled when the Jewish state was created in 1948. With their descendants, they number 4.7 million people.
So they all want to return? That could get a bit crowded.
Israel rejects the demand, saying they should be accommodated within a Paleostinian state.
Indeed. Besides, if they all return, why bother with a separate Palestinian state?

Israeli FM wants all Arabs out
[Iran Press TV] Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has called for expulsion of all Arabs from their homeland, which Israel took by force in 1948.

Israel claimed existence in the year, when it occupied the Paleostinian territories during its full-fledged war against Arab nations. In 1967, it went on to capture and later annex the other Paleostinian lands of the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and later defied the international community's refusal to recognize the act.

On Sunday, Lieberman said that Tel Aviv had to redraw what he referred to as "Israel's borders" to transfer Paleostinians out, while incorporating residents of Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

He said the basis for the talks with the Paleostinians "must not be land for peace, but an exchange of land and people."

Direct talks renewed in early September following the United States pressure. The process had broken off as a result of the Israeli war on the Gazoo Strip, which killed more than 1,400 Paleostinians.

Israel's construction of illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied Paleostinian territories has become the thorniest issue in the negotiations.

The process is threatened by the September 26 expiry of a self-proclaimed partial freeze that Tel Aviv imposed on the settlement activities in November 2009.

Lieberman has already rejected the international calls for extending the moratorium.

#7  Israel's worst problem is that it is saddled with a "Charlie Brown" attitude, famously called "wishy-washy" by his more assertive playmate Lucy Van Pelt. It is a recipe for disaster in the short, medium, and long term.

Perhaps the best individual example of this is Britain's Captain William Bligh, whose mutiny aboard the HMS Bounty was caused by just such an attitude.

First and foremost, Bligh wanted, truly craved, for his crew to like him. But he also wanted their respect. And he vacillated between the two unpredictably. One minute he was kind and generous, which made him feel weak, so he would then behave in a cruel and arbitrary manner, which made him feel guilty.

His inconstancy drove his crew bonkers. As Israel's does to its enemies. Were Israel to just have kicked all the Muslims out in 1948, or 1967, or 1973, by now things would have been much more peaceful.

The Arab pipe dream of owning Jerusalem would be as frivolous as their wanting to own Madrid or Vienna, and any idea of Arabs immigrating to Israel would be out of the question.

#2  I don't know where to put the following quote and link as it pertains to the victory mosque at ground zero, not the water park. However, it does show how moderate muslims are influenced by extremist muslims and what we can expect in the west.

Concerned Muslims plan to hold a summit at a hotel near Kennedy Airport today to discuss how to stem what they say is a rising anti-Islamic tide.

"We'll begin the conversation," said Shaik Ubaid of the Islamic Leadership Council of Metropolitan New York. He said extremists had forced US Muslims to support the Ground Zero mosque even if they initially had doubts about the idea. "Once it became a rallying cry for extremists, we had no choice but to stand with Feisal Rauf," he said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Larijani criticizes Ahmadinejad remarks
[Iran Press TV] Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani has criticized President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad over his remarks about Majlis no longer having full authority.

"If Imam Khomeini, [the late founder of the Islamic Revolution], said Majlis has full authority, it was to prevent the re-emergence of dictatorship in Iran," Larijani said Sunday.

He explained that in the Islamic Theocratic Republic, Majlis, the Judiciary and the Executive Branch are independent from one another, adding that "these bodies have been designed in a way to administer justice in the country," ISNA reported.

"Parliament should supervise lest the government deviates from its course," Fars News Agency quoted Larijani as saying.

Principlist lawmaker Ahmad Tavakoli said that Ahmadinejad's recent remarks would be reviewed in a meeting attended by representatives from Majlis, government and the Guardian Council on Monday.

Tavakoli added that based on the Iranian Constitution, the cabinet and president are "accountable to people, Majlis and the Leader of Islamic Revolution."

Iran and US deny kidnap of 7 American soldiers
[Al Arabiya] Iran's Revolutionary Guards and the Pentagon denied on Sunday that Seven US troops were kidnapped by Iranian border guards, calling the report "unfounded", the state-run English language Press TV said.

The semi-official Fars news agency reported earlier in the day that border guards had detained seven U.S. troops as they tried to illegally enter the Islamic state. The agency later withdrew the story, which had given no source.

Iran's Arabic-language television al-Alam quoted Iran's Revolutionary Guards, in charge of Iran's border security, as denying that any such incident had happened in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

In Washington, a U.S. Defense Department front man said: "Reports by state-run Iranian media that seven U.S. soldiers were detained after crossing into Iran are false."

A front man for NATO-led forces in Afghanistan, U.S. Captain Ryan Donald, said no U.S. soldiers were missing.

Russia "irresponsible" for arms sale: Israel
[Al Arabiya] Israel on Sunday denounced as irresponsible the reported sale by Russia of P-800Yakhont cruise missiles to Syria, saying it could threaten the strategic balance in the region.

News of the sale emerged on Friday when Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov told reporters in Washington that Moscow would fulfill a 2007 contract to supply Yakhont cruise missiles to Damascus, Russia's ITAR-TASS news agency reported.

The sale, worth at least $300 million, will see Syria receiving around 72 cruise missiles, the Interfax news agency said on Sunday, citing defense industry sources.

"This decision translates into a very poor demonstration of responsibility by a country which sees itself as influential and which claims to act in favor of regional stability," a senior Israeli government official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"These weapons could affect the strategic balance in a fragile region which has only just begun peace negotiations," he said, referring to direct talks between Israel and the Paleostinians which began on September 2.

Syria and Israel remain technically in a state of war, and Russia's arms sales and possible nuclear cooperation with Damascus, which has close ties to Iran, is unnerving for both Washington and the Jewish state.

Israel is also concerned that such weapons could be transferred to Leb's Hezbullies militia.

But Russia's defense minister said such fears were unjustified.

"The US and Israel ask us not to supply Syria with Yakhont," he was quoted as saying on Friday. "But we do not see the concerns expressed by them that these arms will fall into the hands of terrorists."

Russian weapons sales to Damascus provoked Israeli ire in May after Moscow said it was supplying Syria with MiG-29 fighter jets, Pantsir short-range air defense systems and armored vehicles.

#2  Russia has been a bit rogue for a while, but it sounds like they are getting worse. Not only are they starting to step up the military budget, but they are selling more advanced arms to terrorist states. Do they really think they are doing any thing worth while? They are diggering their own graves as much as playing political/proxy wars with the West.

Ahmadinejad condemns "crime" against Bruni
[Al Arabiya] Iran's diminutive President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad has condemned as a "crime" attacks against France's first lady Carla Bruni by a leading hard-line newspaper which called her a "prostitute."

In an interview published Sunday in the government newspaper Iran, Ahmadinejad said the attacks by the daily Kayhan, whose chief editor is appointed by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were also against Islam.

"Certain things happen in our media which I do not believe in at all. For example, can a publication attribute a trait to the wife of a European president?" he was quoted as saying in a clear reference to Bruni.

"What kind of Islam allows that?" Ahmadinejad asked, adding such insults were "contrary to religion" and "a crime worse than a crime," without naming Kayhan. "If there really is justice, the perpetrators should be prosecuted."

In late August, Kayhan called Bruni an "Italian prostitute" who deserved to die for supporting Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, the 43-year-old Iranian mother of two who has been sentenced to death by stoning.

France lodged an official complaint over the article and the Iranian foreign ministry distanced itself from the attack by the newspaper known for its harsh insults against Iranian and foreign personalities.

Why not? It's cheap and easy to condemn the newspaper, some idiots will actually believe he cares, some will think it proves Iran is even-handed, and the outcome will not affect whether or not Iran achieves its goals in the middle east.

Iran: IAEA inspectors flouted law
Iran's diminutive President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad says the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors acted against their regulations by contributing to "unreal" reports.

"If an [IAEA] inspector violates his duties, the agency's Articles of Association allow for the termination of his inspections," IRIB quoted President Ahmadinejad as saying in an interview with ABC News, which is to be fully aired on Sunday.

The Iranian chief executive made the comments in reference to Iran's decision to change the list of IAEA inspectors and demand replacements for two of the inspectors who presented "false" details of the Islamic Theocratic Republic's nuclear activities.

President Ahmadinejad further explained that the IAEA has not adhered to its guidelines concerning Iran's nuclear case and resorted to 'generalizations' and 'undocumented' talks.

He also pointed out that the case of inspectors has further politicized Iran's nuclear program and undermined the UN atomic agency's credibility.

The Iranian chief executive, however, underlined that despite the IAEA conduct, Tehran will continue to respect the UN body's guidelines.

He also criticized the agency's inspection standards for different countries and said, "Many countries including the US have non-peaceful nuclear activities but no reports ever come out concerning their operations."

Asked about the case of an Iranian woman convicted of adultery and murder, Ahmadinejad slammed Western media for what he called false reports and noted Sakineh Ashtiani had never been handed a stoning sentence and that her case is currently being reviewed by the Iranian Judiciary.

The Iranian president also demanded that the US free a number of Iranians "illegally jugged and detained" in America and some other countries at Washington's request.

According to Iranian media, at least eight Iranians are held in US detention over indeterminate charges.

He also criticized the US for its claims of upholding human rights while killing hundreds of thousands of people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US television network carried out the interview with President Ahmadinejad upon his arrival in the United States for the 65th United Nations, aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society General Assembly session in New York City.

'Saad Hariri meddling in UN tribunal'
[Iran Press TV] A former Lebanese official has accused Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri of presenting false witnesses to the UN tribunal investigating the murder of his father Rafiq Hariri.

The former director of General Security, Major General Jamil al-Sayyed, said Lebanese State Prosecutor Saeed Mirza and other figures known to have close relations with Hariri were also involved in introducing the witnesses into the investigation, Press TV's correspondent in Beirut, Ali Rizk, reported on Saturday.

Hariri was killed along with more than 20 other people in a massive car bombing in Beirut on February 14, 2005.

The United Nations, aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society Special Tribunal for Leb (STL) was subsequently set up by the world body and the Lebanese government in May 2007 to investigate the assassination.

Sayyed said that Rafiq Hariri's death was being exploited to fight Syria and the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbullies.

Hariri reportedly informed Hezbullies Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah in July that that the STL would implicate some Hezbullies members.

But Hezbullies categorically rejected the allegations and called the tribunal an "Israeli project."

Hariri has pledged "not to allow my father's blood to stir disunity in Leb."

The former general was one of four senior Lebanese military and security officials who were imprisoned without charge over the assassination and released three years and eight months later without any explanation.

He is now in Beirut in response to the state prosecutor's decision to summon him for questioning.

Hezbullies has expressed support for Sayyed and has asked Mirza to cancel his decision to interrogate Sayyed.

Ex-Gen. gains 'access to STL evidence'
[Iran Press TV] A former Lebanese general has claimed that the UN tribunal looking into the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri has given him access to evidence in the case.

Former director of General Security Major General Jamil al-Sayyed said on Sunday that the Special Tribunal for Leb (STL) has placed the evidence it has gathered at his disposal.

"Yesterday [Daniel] Fransen issued a ruling. Fransen said, 'Jamil Sayyed, you have the right to request evidence from us and we have the authority to look into the matter,'" the former general quoted one of the UN justices as saying.

Hariri was killed in a massive car bombing in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on February 14, 2005. Sayyed was among the four senior Lebanese military and security officials who were incarcerated without being charged over the assassination and released three years and eight months later without any explanation.

The former Lebanese official has accused Hariri's son and successor Saad al-Hariri, Lebanese State Prosecutor Saeed Mirza and other figures known to have close relations with the late prime minister of presenting the UN tribunal with false witnesses.

"Listen to what he's saying. Fransen did not tell me in his decision, 'there are no false witnesses, Jamil El-Sayed.' Fransen's decision is a ruling against you, Saad Hariri. It's a ruling against you, Saeed Mirza...," Rooters reported.

Sayyed claims Hariri's assassination is being exploited by Beirut to fight Syria and the Hezbullies resistance movement.

"Sheikh Saad, this case will not end until we find the truth and announce it to everyone -- and to punish all those criminals who you are protecting," he said addressing the premier.

In July Hezbullies Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah revealed that he had been informed by Hariri of the STL's plan to implicate a number of the resistance movement's members in connection with the case.

Hezbullies categorically rejects the allegations and has called the tribunal an "Israeli project."

Prosecutor Mirza has summoned Sayyed to Beirut for questioning.

Hezbullies has expressed support for Sayyed and has asked Mirza to cancel his decision to interrogate Sayyed.

#1  So Syria is pushing a new propoganda campaign. Even if they don't win it outside their realms, they will more than likely convince their population that it's true. More than likley teach this at their schools along with the hate thrown at Jews and the US or the West in general.

Hizbullah Threatens to Cut 'Unjust Hands' that Would Harm Sayyed
Hizbullah has threatened to cut the hands of those who would seek to harm former General Security Department chief Maj. Gen. Jamil Sayyed.
"The party will cut the unjust hands that would attack Maj. Gen. Sayyed," Hizbullah sources told pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat in remarks published Sunday.
"Sayyed and Hizbullah abide by the law ... We are very keen on the state and its apparatuses but we are aware that some judges are politicized and dishonest, (something) that we oppose," the sources said.

Asked about the welcoming of Sayyed at Rafik Hariri international airport on Saturday, they said the event was aimed at "removing injustice off him."

"There would either be a law that is implemented on everyone in this country or we would adopt the policy of each person according to his stance," the sources added.

Gemayel: Hizbullah Must Deal with Lebanese State, People, Army, Institutions as Under-the-Law Party
[An Nahar] Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel on Sunday stressed that "if Syria acknowledges Leb's sovereignty and special status, some Lebanese must also believe in their independence and sovereignty."
"It is in their interest, as well as in Syria's interest, that the relation between the two countries be maintained through the framework of state institutions," Gemayel said, calling on "some to quit bragging about their friendship with Syria at Leb's expense."

At the annual dinner organized by Zahle's Kataeb branch, Gemayel added: "Some are pushing the country towards collective suicide, while what we need are collective victory and free life."

"The Lebanese entity is facing the test of unity, and the State is facing the test of sovereignty."

He noted that "liberation turned into a devastative war in 2006, and its arms invaded Beirut in 2008."

"The scheme of impeding institutions is ongoing, as well as the scheme of obstructing the Special Tribunal for Leb and the Lebanese Judiciary," he added, warning of "a new scheme" to naturalize Paleostinian refugees in Leb.

Gemayel voiced his belief that Leb "must hold onto Arab consensus," adding that an "individual" peace deal with Israel must not be signed "whatever the pressures."

He said that "a tangible progress, although inadequate, has been achieved in terms of Lebanese-Syrian ties."

"We had appreciated its resistance against the Israel occupation until the year 2000, and we had acknowledged its representation in its sectarian and geographic environment, but Hizbullah must deal with the Lebanese -- State, people, army and institutions as a party that is under the law, not as a party that is above all authorities and laws," Gemayel stressed.

As he noted that "Hizbullah's behaviors today negatively affect its yesterday sacrifices" and that the party was "insisting on pushing the Lebanese away from it and on making them fear it and question its role," Gemayel urged Hizbullah to "engage in the course of the State and to put its capabilities in the framework of the State and its legitimate institutions."

"Weapons don't scare us, but rather national division, but I promise you that I will exert maximum effort... in order to prevent civil strife," Gemayel addressed the audience.
