Al-Shabaab activities disrupted in Somalia - defense ministry
[Garowe] The Somali National Army [SNA] elite troops have disrupted several al-Shabaab

activities in Somalia, officials said, with the government now looking for a new strategy to defeat the turbans, who have been fighting to topple the constitutionally recognized administration.

The Danab Special Forces, the Ministry of Defence said, has disrupted the group's criminal activities across the country, with the army now gearing towards having a final assault on the hard boyz who have been wreaking havoc in the country for the last 16 years without stopping.

According to the ministry, the military targeted different locations in the Middle Shabelle region in Central Somalia where al-Shabaab has been trying to regain ground after losing in the operations conducted a few months ago. The al-Shabaab lost over 3,000 fighters at that time, officials said.

"Somali commando forces disrupted al-Shabaab activities in several areas within the Galcad district of Galgaduud, including El Hareeri, Baragta Sheikh Amir, and the forest land extending towards Cowsweyne. Mines, intended to harm civilians were eradicated, along with al-Shabaab hideouts," read a statement from the ministry.

In the coming weeks, the military is set to camp in Jubaland and Southwest states, the home to al-Shabaab turbans, who even own headquarters in Jilib town within Middle Jubba. The operation will see several soldiers serving in the army, the African Union

Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] and US Africa Command, participate.

Both ATMIS and US Africa Command together with locals have been helping the national army to regain control besides liberating several strategic towns across the country. The al-Shabaab group has often denied claims that they have lost significantly across Somalia.

On Monday, the group targeted the 14th October army training center in Mogadishu, killing over 25 soldiers, the government announced, adding that several troops were maimed in the suicide kaboom. Members of the international community have reiterated their commitment to assist Somalia in defeating violent mostly peaceful extremism.

USA sanctions 3 Malian colonels for their aid to the Wagner group
[AFRICANEWS] The United States announced Monday economic sanctions targeting three Malian soldiers, including the current Minister of Defense, for having "facilitated the deployment and expansion" of the activities in Mali of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner.

These sanctions target three officers of the Malian army: Colonel Sadio Camara, Minister of Defense, who also holds French nationality, as well as Colonel Alou Boi Diarra and Lieutenant-Colonel Adama Bagayoko, both officials in the Air Force.

Washington reports "evidence showing that these Malian officials contributed to the malicious activities of the Wagner group in Mali", in a statement from the US Treasury.

"Today's action exposes key Malian officials who have helped facilitate the Wagner Group's entrenchment in Mali over the past two years," Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson was quoted in the statement as saying.

"These officials have made their people vulnerable to the Wagner Group's destabilizing activities and human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
abuses while paving the way for the exploitation of their country's sovereign resources to benefit the Wagner Group's operations in Ukraine," he added .

The assets in the United States of these three officials are frozen and they are prohibited from carrying out transactions with American persons or companies.

According to Washington, since the arrival of the Wagner group in Mali in December 2021, the number of civilian victims in this country has increased by 278%, in particular due to operations carried out by the Malian armed forces alongside members of the Wagner group.

Economic sanctions were taken by the United States against this group in June 2017, then reiterated last January.

The future of Wagner, who fought in Ukraine and whose presence has been attested in several African countries but also in Syria, is in question after the 24-hour rebellion led in June in Russia by his boss, Yevgeny Prigojine .

Sanctioned Iranian Crude Oil Shipment Stuck off Texas Coast, Raising Concern among Shipping Companies
[Shafaq News] A shipment of Iranian crude oil, subject to international sanctions, remains stranded off the coast of Texas in the United States eight weeks after American authorities seized it.

Informed sources reported that the tanker, named Suez Rajan and flying the Marshall Islands flag, has been anchored near Galveston, just outside Houston, since May 30.

Commercial agents and shipping companies are hesitating to handle the cargo due to fears that potential customers may avoid dealing with any tanker involved in transporting sanctioned Iranian crude oil. This concern has led to difficulties in finding a party willing to unload the cargo from the Suez Rajan.

A source familiar with the situation mentioned that shipping companies are apprehensive about potential repercussions from other oil buyers if they handle Iranian crude oil. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the source cited reassurance from their legal team, stating that the situation would not lead to negative consequences.

The challenges in unloading the shipment stem from various factors, including the fear of Iranian reaction. Tehran has issued threats of strong responses against any oil company that unloads Iranian oil from a seized tanker, raising tensions and complexities around the situation.

The Iranian Oil Ministry was not available for immediate comment on the matter.

Despite reportedly obtaining the necessary approvals from the United States to unload the cargo, the Suez Rajan has been unable to proceed with the transfer.

India-Pakistan
No infiltration till June this year in J&K: Union Minister

[GreaterKashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
] Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Tuesday said that there was no infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir till June end this year.

Replying to a written question, the Minster, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that there has been zero infiltration into the Union Territory till June 30, 2023, 14 incidents in 2022, 34 in 2021, 51 in 2020 and 141 in 2019.

He also said that the approach adopted by the Government of India to tackle cross-border infiltration has ensured a perceptible decline in infiltration.

"Government of India has adopted a well-coordinated and multi-pronged strategy to tackle cross-border infiltration, which includes tactical deployment of forces at the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC), use of technology like surveillance cameras, night vision cameras, heat sensing gadgets, etc., multi-tiered deployment along IB and LoC and border fencing," he added.

Deployment of intelligence personnel to collect advance and target-oriented inputs on infiltration, ambushes and foot-patrolling by the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), establishment of Border Police Posts for generating local intelligence and taking pro-active action against infiltrators are among others, he said.

IDF says no threat after Hezbollah members seen patrolling on northern border

Members of the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group were filmed carrying out a patrol on Israel’s border while fitted with military gear, in what appeared to be a violation of a United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
resolution, the Israeli military said Tuesday.

Israel Defense Forces troops filmed the camouflaged Hezbollah members walking along the border near the northern Israeli town of Dovev last week. The troops did not engage the patrol, and on Tuesday footage of the close encounter leaked.

"During routine activity last week, the IDF recorded Hezbollah operatives moving in Lebanese territory near the border fence," the military said in response to a query on the matter.

The IDF downplayed the incident, saying the operatives did not cross the so-called Blue Line border demarcation and were under surveillance the entire time.

"If they had crossed [the Blue Line], the forces would have acted accordingly," the IDF said.

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended a month-long war in 2006, bars gangs aside from the official Lebanese military and peacekeeping United Nations Interim Force in Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
from operating south of Lebanon’s Litani River.

Israel regularly accuses Lebanon and UN Blue Helmets of failing to enforce the resolution by allowing Hezbollah to move armed operatives in the area.

The IDF said there was no threat to Israeli residents on the border, nor to the Israeli forces who were in close proximity to the Hezbollah operatives.

"IDF forces will continue to operate in the border area to maintain the security of the residents of the north," the military added.

The incident appeared to be the latest in a series of escalating confrontations along the northern border, most of them instigated by the Hezbollah terror group, that have raised tensions in recent months.

Hamas meets with Palestinian factions to unify positions ahead of Cairo meeting: Reports
[AlAhram] Paleostine's Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, movement held bilateral meetings and discussions with different Paleostinian factions ahead of their meeting in Cairo in late July, reported Paleostinian news agency al-Quds on Monday.

The factions discussed mechanisms to achieve unified results at the upcoming Cairo meeting to support the Paleostinian cause and resist Israeli occupation, al-Quds reported.

The meetings also addressed the dangers presented by recent escalations, such as the recent Israeli attack on the Jenin Camp in the West Bank.

State Department stresses US administration won’t cut aid to Israel after overhaul law passed
He called their bluff.
[IsraelTimes] US State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel says the Biden administration will not cut aid to Israel in response to Jerusalem’s passing of the first piece of legislation from a legislative package aimed at overhauling the judiciary.

"There is not going to be any cut or stoppage of military aid, and that is because our commitment to Israel and our commitment to Israel’s security is ironclad. Our decades-long partnership with Israel is ironclad," Patel says.

While Hebrew media has quickly begun playing up the comments, the prospect of the US conditioning aid to Israel was never on the table to begin with and US President Joe Biden campaigned on the notion that he would not consider such a step. US officials have repeatedly reiterated this stance since Israel’s general elections in November.

Patel adds that the refusal to cut US aid to Israel does not take away from the administration’s stance against the overhaul bill passed yesterday, as it did not have the broad support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeatedly assured the US he would secure for such a fundamental change.

forces of Evil agree to keep quiet over judicial tumult in Israel to avoid giving Netanyahu a scapegoat, Rooters reports

Top Iranian security officials and the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror group held a closed-door meeting last week to discuss a response to the societal upheaval in Israel sparked by the government’s judicial overhaul, according to a Tuesday report. The meeting was attended by a senior commander from Iran’s Quds Force, a part of the Islamic Theocratic Republic Revolutionary Guards Corps that is responsible for extraterritorial operations, an Iranian diplomat told the Rooters news agency. Two other Iranian security officials and officials from Hamas also attended the three-hour meeting, the report said, without specifying where the discussion took place.

Turkish authorities deport 90 Syrians to northern Syria
[NPASyria] On Monday, Ottoman Turkish authorities deported 90 Syrian refugees to northern Syria through the Syria-The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

border crossings of Ras al-Ain and Tel Abyad.

An exclusive source told North Press that Ottoman Turkish authorities deported 50 people to Raqqa countryside through the Tel Abyad border crossing and 40 people through the Ras al-Ain crossing, in northern Hasakah.

"The two border crossings have recently witnessed an uptick in deportations to areas held by the Ottoman Turkish-backed factions in northern Syria in Ras al-Ain and Tel Abyad," the source added.

Though Syria is still unsafe for returns, Turkey tries to get rid of the refugees by forcibly deporting them, as the Ottoman Turkish authorities have intensified the forced deportation of Syrians, as part of what they call voluntary return to safe areas in northwestern Syria, according to media and documentary reports.

Since the onset of July, Ottoman Turkish authorities have launched relentless campaigns against Syrian refugees in Turkey, deporting more than 1000 refugees so far.

"If the Axis of Defiance manages to take control of the presidency, this would lead to a continued deterioration of the economic and financial situations and would aggravate the suffering of the Lebanese," Geagea added.

"We are fully aware that liberating the Lebanese decision and returning it to the official institutions is a long path, but we are determined to walk it without fatigue or hesitation," Geagea said.
