-Lurid Crime Tales-
When lesbians attack (Girls gone wilding)
Seven women were held in the brutal attack on an amorous Village street vendor. Among those arrested are Terrain Dandridge, 19, above; Lania Daniels, 21 (below).

A gang of petite but ornery lesbians pummeled and stabbed a DVD bootlegger in the West Village early yesterday after he tried to pick up one of the women - and then spat on her when she rebuffed his advances, police and witnesses said. Wayne Buckle, 28, was jumped by the women at 2 a.m. in front of the IFC movie theater on Sixth Ave. after allegedly cursing a 19-year-old gay woman because she rejected him.

"She's my girl, and no one hits on my girl!" one of the women yelled during the bloody beatdown, a police source said.
You tell him, sister!
The women - all from Newark - whipped Buckle with belts before 4-foot-11 Patreese Johnson allegedly stabbed him in the belly with a steak knife, police said.

"He called us [homophobic slur] and he said he was going to f- us all," one of the women said hours later as cops led the seven suspects out of the 6th Precinct stationhouse. "He spit on us and threw a cigarette," another woman said. "This is a hate crime."
And we didn't even need the PC police to settle the matter!
Buckle, a fixture on W. Third St. and Sixth Ave., was in critical but stable condition at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan's intensive care unit with tubes snaking into his mouth and his eyes swollen shut.

Witnesses said Buckle, who lives in Queens, had approached Johnson as the Newark women walked by the movie theater, witnesses said. When Buckle hit on Johnson, she explained that she wasn't interested in men. Apparently offended, he spat on her, witnesses said.
Wonder how exactly she 'explained' it?
Moments later, Johnson's six friends - ranging in age from 18 to 31 - pounced, police said. Johnson allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Buckle.

"He was in agony. He was bleeding a lot," said Diego Rodriguez, 60, who works at a nearby newsstand and called 911. "He made the mistake of spitting at one of them. They beat him up bad with belts, kicked and punched him."

Johnson allegedly tossed the knife under a nearby car as the group sprinted toward W. Fourth St., where they were apprehended by cops, police said. All the women were charged with gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon. They were awaiting arraignment last night.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Performance art: nekkid Irish moonbat & dead pig. Really.
You might not want to hang your mouse over this one...
You *definitely* don't want to hang your mouse over this one. Trust me on this.
After pickled sheep, unmade beds and painting with elephant dung, some questioned where modern art could go next.
Not I, someone can always go lower in the name of 'art', especially in Europe, Berkeley and Greenwich Village.
Kira O'Reilly will provide her own answer today by spending four hours naked, hugging a dead pig - at the taxpayer's expense.
Skinny, wrinkled thing by the accompanying pic. The pig's not healthy looking either.
The controversial Irish performance artist will invite one person at a time to watch her sit in a specially-constructed set and perform a 'crushing slow dance' with the carcass in her arms. She claims the bizarre exhibition is an attempt to 'identify' with the pig, which she cuts with a knife during the show. Visitors to the Newlyn Art Gallery in Newlyn, Cornwall - funded by taxpayers and the lottery - will be allowed to watch her for ten minutes.
In other words, a ten-minute peep show. With a dead pig.
The gallery has defended its decision to stage the one-off show, but animal rights campaigners have labelled the performance 'sick'. Anita Singh, spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said: 'This seems to be a desperate cry for help that merits visits from mental health counsellors, not voyeurs. 'As Miss O'Reilly seems to depend on the shock value of using a murdered pig as a prop, perhaps lacking the talent to make it as a proper artist, may we suggest she take up a day job instead to pay the bills. This is not entertainment - this is sick.'
What really annoys me is that I'm being forced to agree with the PETA spokeswitch.
Under the title 'Inthewrongplaceness', the piece is billed as a 'slow crushing dance with a pig for one at a time'.

The performance will see the artist sit in a disused social club designed to look like a bedroom, surrounded by props including flowers and a plastic swan.
No, I don't know why the swan is plastic.
She will spend four hours with the dead pig - bought from a local abattoir - in her arms. She wrote on the gallery's website: 'When I cut pig I have an urge to delve both hands into the belly, to meld into her warm flesh, my blood and her blood.'
Kira must really be a fun date ...
Miss O'Reilly's fee for the performance is thought to have been drawn from £30,000 given to the gallery by the Arts Council England.
Brings a whole new meaning to bringing home the bacon. Suckers ...
Gallery director James Green defended the show as a 'very personal piece of work'. He said: 'This is a challenging piece of work and exactly the kind of show we should be delivering.
Suckers ...
Miss O'Reilly said yesterday: 'I am well aware of the controversy this performance will create.'
Counting on it, in fact.

#13  I've always thought the mark of a true artist, be he/she doing some classical art, or just good old pop culture stuff, is to be able to live from it.

"Modern artists" like this one, supported by the State's "official art", are not artists, they're civil servants in disguise, paid to promote the counterculture so dear to the Enlightened Elites. They had the same ones under nazi and commie regimes, unable to live from their art, but living well carrying the water of the official ideology.

Nagin blames delays on racism, red tape
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin on Friday blamed racism and government bureaucracy for hamstringing his city's ability to weather Hurricane Katrina and recover from the disaster that struck the Gulf Coast nearly a year ago. In remarks to the annual meeting of the National Association of Black Journalists, Nagin said the hurricane "exposed the soft underbelly of America as it relates to dealing with race and class. And I, to this day, believe that if that would have happened in Orange County, California, if that would have happened in South Beach, Miami, it would have been a different response."

“I believe that if that would have happened in Orange County, California, if that would have happened in South Beach, Miami, it would have been a different response...”
New Orleans was 60 percent black before Katrina struck Aug. 29. Early this year the mayor called on fellow blacks to again make New Orleans a "chocolate" city, but he later apologized. On Friday, Nagin condemned federal regulations that discourage rebuilding in the largely black and low-lying Ninth Ward. While tens of billions of dollars in federal aid have flowed to Louisiana and other states devastated by Katrina, much of it has gone to developers and contractors, Nagin said. "Very little of those dollars have gotten to the local governments or to the people themselves," Nagin said.

Katrina dispersed three-quarters of New Orleans' pre-hurricane population of about 460,000 people, and today it's a city of about 250,000. Nagin suggested that Louisiana and federal officials would prefer the city remain smaller. He said the city is struggling to deliver services and rebuild with a quarter of its former municipal budget. The federal and state aid the city has received is inadequate and comes with too many rules, he said. "We are being strangled, and they're using the money to set local policies to try to take control of the city to do things that they had in mind all along, and that's to shrink the footprint, get a bunch of developers in the city, and try to do things in a different way," Nagin said. "We're not going to let that happen. They're going to give us our money, and we're going to rebuild this city."

#6  There's a FEMA primer/instructional course written back in 2003 describing the processes that are supposed to take place when a disaster strikes, including both state and local governments having disaster and response plans in place prior to a disaster occurring.

IMNSHO both New Orleans and Louisiana screwed the pooch. And they're being allowed to get away with it.

#8  Well, yeah, it wouldn't have been that bad in Miami. Florida doesn't screw around with hurricanes, unlike Louisiana.

BTW, Mayor Nagin, how do you explain how you are failing so badly, when Mississippi (which took the brunt of Katrina) and Alabama are recovering so much better?
Posted by: Swamp Blondie || 08/19/2006 8:04 Comments || Top||

#9  I seem to recall CBN News or some such news outlet citing a federal report which showed that proportionally, for the percentage of blacks and whites in the area, fewer blacks died than whites. That info should still be available. So Mr. Nagin, you might want to check that racist blather at the doah.

No doubt, red tape bureacratic bungling was part of the problem from a number of politicians. So was the fact that so many idiotic residents of both colors refused to vacate even when weathermen uged them repeatedly to do so. What is inexcusable is the way aid was distributed (trailer homes stood uninhabited, ice melted and other aid stood undelivered) and warnings about the fallibility of the levees stood ignored.

#13  “I believe that if that would have happened in Orange County, California, if that would have happened in South Beach, Miami, it would have been a different response...”

Of course - you see they have something there called a local (and state) government. NO has neither.

The federal and state aid the city has received is inadequate and comes with too many rules

Rules like a requirement to spend the money on actual rebuilding (as opposed to lining pockets and diverting funds to friends and relatives).
Posted by: CrazyFool || 08/19/2006 11:26 Comments || Top||

#15  Took decades and generations to make New Orleans what it was the day before Katrina. Any arsehole who thinks its not going to take as long the rebuild deserves the inattention they get. The mayor needs a real up close and personal tour of the "Big Dig" if he wants to see government in action for whitey.

The equiv. to nitric oxide in Linux would be the modprobe-insmod kernel threads and now the user space device stuff in UDEV
The first puff of nitric oxide would, of course, be the bootstrap code.

As to the obvious booting energy derived from nitrous to nitric oxide we will have to leave that to beachball researchers in international waters.

Ditzy Chicks stay course; fans still stay away
Some music lovers can't forgive the popular Dixie Chicks for dissing the president and then country music. Just look at ticket sales for tonight at Target Center. If the Bush-bashing Dixie Chicks aren't ready to make nice, neither are many of their fans. "No way I'm going to their concert this time," said longtime follower Elizabeth Wilson, 26, of Dilworth, Minn., who feels burned by the Chicks' big mouths. "They can go to France."

“Maines issued an apology, then retracted it. More recently, the Chicks said they don't want their album in the same changer with discs by Toby Keith and Reba McEntire...”
Tonight, about 10,000 people are expected to see the Dixie Chicks at Target Center in Minneapolis -- one of their biggest audiences this year, but a far cry from the nearly 40,000 who attended two sold-out St. Paul concerts in 2003 by the blockbuster country trio. While their new CD went straight to No. 1 in June, ticket sales have been so soft for the Chicks' Accidents and Accusations Tour that they canceled concerts in 14 cities, including Des Moines, Fargo, N.D., and Houston. Faster than you can whistle "Dixie," the Chicks have again become the most polarizing music act since Eminem. "People are divided down the middle," said Andy Elliott, program director for two Des Moines country radio stations, one of which has ignored the trio's new CD. "There is amazing passion by the fans on both sides."
But if they're ignoring the trio, are they 'fans' any longer?
The Texas trio first upset fans when lead singer Natalie Maines dissed President Bush at a London concert in 2003. She issued an apology, then retracted it. More recently, the Chicks said they don't want their album in the same changer with discs by Toby Keith and Reba McEntire, a pronouncement akin to a NASCAR driver dissing rednecks.

Ouch!

As Frank Zappa said: "There is no Hell, there is only France."

#5  In my uncharitable moments I substitute our own BDS *bats for Paleos and other 'slamic zoomers - they lack that Cause -> Effect gene.

I especially love it when it hits them in the bank account. Hard.

"They can go the France."

LOL. Ouch!

#6  S. T. Karnick:

The one thing that all celebrities have in common—the only thing they all have in common, in fact—is that a very large number of people like them, often for no readily identifiable reasons... They don't understand how fragile likeability really is. Apparently they entirely forget the lessons about human fickleness they should have learned indelibly in high school...

For some obscure reason, the [Dixie Chicks'] fans decided they didn't want to support them any more and could do without their music... And the fact that instant wealth and worldwide celebrity tempted a young woman and her satellites to think that she was more than just a stupid singer had nothing to do with it.

Right.

#7  It's called sending a music act rocketing to the bottom.

Stay the course, oh Dixie Chicks...

#8  It's a quagmire, I tell ya, an unwinnable quagmire. Natalie Maines lied, their careers died.

#10  LOL #4!

Jeanine: Oh, no! I told them once, I told them a hundred times:
put "Spinal Tap" first and "Puppet show" last.
Derek: It's a morale builder, isn't it?
Jeanine: We've got a big dressing room, though.
David: What?
Jeanine: Got a big dressing room here...
David: Oh, we've got a bigger dressing room than the puppets?
Oh, that's refreshing..

#12  10,000 times $30/ticket = $300,000 per night. Cry me a river.
Posted by: Perfesser || 08/19/2006 10:46 Comments || Top||

#13  Much less than that, Perfesser. This is one of their highest turnout stops....and it doesn't break down the number of comped tickets v. paid, either. Bet there's a substantial amount of the former.

#14  "Next stop lesbian folk festival circuit."

EXACTLY. Lilith Fair, here we come. Gotta develop a taste fer the wimun, though.

#15  I dunno. Their actual singing might suffer in comparison to Sarah Maclachlan's.

The Dixie Chicks really screwed up: they pissed away a working relationship with the only demographic that was willing to tolerate their particular brand of off-key vocals _and_ STUPID enough to actually go down to the local Wal-Mart and shell out actual HARD-EARNED CURRENCY for a CD containing about an hour's music. Instead they're just going to suck up to the demographic group that thinks music is something you download for free from a warez site somewhere in Sweden.

#16  Sarah MacLachlan doesn't count. She about the only one at Lilith Fair that prefers men.
