Morocco ramps up counter-terror fight
[MAGHAREBIA] The Moroccan armed forces on Thursday (August 14th) deployed heavy weapons and anti-aircraft batteries near El-Hank lighthouse in Casablanca.

There was no statement from the Moroccan army about the reason for the move, but local media suggested that it came in response to concerns that aircraft could be used by terror groups - such as the Islamic State (ISIS) - to hit strategic interests in the kingdom.

"There is a high probability that bully boyz will resort to booby-trapping civilian aircraft or diverting them to use as bombs to carry out terrorist operations," said Lahcen Oussimouh, a political analyst and researcher at the Moroccan Centre for Sociological Studies.

Thousands of Yemenis stage massive anti-government protest
[Iran Press TV] Tens of thousands of people have held a huge anti-government rally in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, in response to a call by senior Houthi leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi.

The protesters gathered in Change Square on Monday before parading in the center of the capital, where supporters of the Houthis had converged.

The protesters chanted slogans against the government and protested against a gasoline tax increase which was brought in at the end of July.

In a Sunday speech, the Houthi leader called on his followers to march on Sana'a and demand "the fall of the government, which has failed."

He gave the Yemeni government a deadline of Friday to meet the grievances of the protesters and warned that otherwise additional forms of "legitimate action" would be taken.

In the coming days, "we will erect tents, carry out sit-ins and organize marches" in the capital, the Houthi leader said, adding, "We won't stand with folded arms in the face of crime."

The government increased the price of petrol from 2,500 Yemeni riyals to 4,000 riyals per 20 liters.

More than 50 percent of around 25 million population of the impoverished Arabian Peninsula country live below the poverty line, according to official figures.

Over the recent months, Yemen has been experiencing a severe energy crisis including frequent power cuts and fuel shortages.

N Korea threatens strike against US-S Korea drill
[The Nation (Pak)] North Korea warned Sunday of a possible "merciless" pre-emptive strike as it blasted an upcoming joint US-South Korean military exercise as a rehearsal for nuclear war.

South Korea vowed to go ahead from Monday with the annual Ulchi Freedom Guardian drill, which is aimed at testing readiness to combat any North Korean invasion. Although largely played out on computers, the exercise involves tens of thousands of South Korean and US troops.

In a statement carried Sunday by the official Korean Central News Agency, the North's military accused Washington and Seoul of planning a "dangerous" rehearsal for nuclear war.

"We declare once again that we will mercilessly open the strongest... pre-emptive strike of our own style any time at our discretion," it said.

North Korean soldiers were ready to "turn the strongholds of aggression into a sea of fire and ashes", the statement said.

"Our troops will strongly retaliate against any provocations from North Korea," the South's joint chiefs of staff warned in a statement.

Tensions have been high on the Korean peninsula following an extended series of North Korean missile and rocket tests in recent months.

UN resolutions bar the North from any launches using ballistic missile technology.

The nuclear-armed communist country has defended the tests as a legitimate exercise in self-defence.

Seoul had proposed holding high-level talks with Pyongyang to discuss family reunions for those separated by the 1950-53 Korean War and other issues of "mutual interest".

But there has been no official response from Pyongyang.

Pro-Palestinians Block Israeli Cargo Ship In California
[IsraelTimes] Pro-Paleostinian protesters prevented an Israeli merchantman from unloading at a Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, port.

The protesters gathered Sunday at the Port of Oakland to stop a ship from Zim Integrated Shipping Services, Israel's international maritime cargo company, from docking and unloading.

The protest is under the auspices of the Block the Boat coalition organized by the the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
-based Arab Resource and Organizing Center.

The ship docked at the port Sunday evening after remaining at sea on Saturday to avoid arriving in the middle of a protest by thousands of pro-Paleostinian demonstrators.

Unionized dockworkers at the port on Sunday honored the picket line and refused to unload the ship.

"Workers honored our picket and stood on the side of justice, as they historically have," the center said in a statement on its website. "Oakland said no to Zionism and blocked the boat for an entire weekend. This is the first time in history that this has happened. Israeli apartheid is falling one port at a time."

Similar actions are expected to take place at ports in Seattle and Tacoma, Wash., this week and later in Vancouver.

PTI decides to resign all Pakistan parliamentary seats
It looks like Taliban Khan wants to become Khaleda Zia.
[Iran Press TV] The party of Pakistain's politician, Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
, has announced plan to quit all its seats in the country's National Assembly amid ongoing anti-government protests in the capital, Islamabad.

"We are resigning from the National Assembly, Punjab Assembly, Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Assembly and Sindh Assembly," Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi, vice-chairman of Khan's Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) party, told news hounds on Monday.

He further noted that the PTI is still making a decision about what to do in the northwestern province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

, where they hold sway.

Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf political party is the third largest in Pakistain's national assembly after center-left Pakistain People's Party led by Bilawal Baby Bhutto Zardari

As far as is known, Bilawal has no particular talents other than being pretty and being able to memorize political slogans, but he had the good luck to be born into the right family and he hasn't been assassinated yet...
and Sharif's center-right party, Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the radioactive tadpoles grown into frogs. Really big frogs, in fact...
Canada-based outspoken holy man, Tahirul-Qadri, has threatened to expand anti-government protests to four provinces unless the incumbent Pak prime minister leaves office.

"We will take our protests to the picturesque provincial capitals if government failed to accept our demands," Qadri said during a speech to supporters in Islamabad on Monday.

Tens of thousands of people have descended on Islamabad in recent days, answering the calls from Khan and Qadri to push for Sharif's departure.

Both Khan and Qadri have left an offer of talks from Pak prime minister dangling. Khan has not responded to the government's call for talks, seeking more details. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
Qadri has rejected the offer outright.

Khan and Qadri have called for Sharif to quit, accusing him of corruption and ballot rigging during last year's parliamentary elections. The pair wants new elections to be held in Pakistain.

They vowed to keep up anti-government demonstrations until their demands are met and Sharif leaves office.

Modi govt shows Pakistan its tough side, calls off foreign secretary-level talks
[TIMESOFINDIA.INDIATIMES] India called off the scheduled foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistain, objecting to its envoy meeting Kashmire separatists on the eve of the dialogue. The tough response renders bleak prospects of resumption of dialogue with Pakistain anytime soon.

Pakistain's engagement with Kashmire separatists has always caused heartburns in New Delhi, but never led to the breakdown of dialogue. With the unprecedented response to latest provocation from Pakistain, the Modi government has set the bar high for Islamabad. "Pakistain and powers within that country do not want Indo-Pak ties to be normal," said defence minister Arun Jaitley while visiting forward posts on the border.

High-level government sources said India had told Pakistain that this sort of indulgence to separatists was unacceptable when Pakistain PM Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
came for the inauguration of the Modi regime. Sharif had heeded the advice, and stayed away from the Hurriyat group when he came here on May 26.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
on Monday morning, Pakistain high commissioner Abdul Basit turned down foreign secretary Sujatha Singh when she asked him not to go ahead with his meeting with separatists scheduled later in the day.

Singh warned Basit that the Indian government would take a dim view of the meeting and asked the Pak high commissioner to choose between meeting separatists and the government. She dismissed his explanation that his meetings were to facilitate the grinding of the peace processor in Kashmire, saying India needed no such assistance.

said that a meeting of 'people's parliament' would be staged at the protest sit-in and urged the masses to participate in large numbers.

He congratulated the demonstrators on carrying out a successful sit-in and urged them to stay active. "It's now prohibited to sit in homes," he said. "Tomorrow at 5pm in the evening … a meeting of people's parliament will be held," he added.

Recalling the hardships faced by PAT workers from the Punjab Police in the aftermath of Model Town tragedy, he said the likely 'revolution' by his party will be dedicated to the 14 'deaders' of Lahore.

On the occasion, he termed the '14 deaders of Model Town tragedy' as real heroes.

The anti-government holy man said that the 'inqilaab' cannot wait any longer.

JI vows to save KP govt, opposition mulls no-confidence motion
[DAWN] The Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...

(KP) government, on Monday vowed to foil any move to dissolve the provincial government, while the opposition parties are mulling a strategy to move a no-confidence move in the assembly to counter the move in case Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
goes ahead with a dissolution.

Sources told Dawn.com that some PTI politicians from KP have also opposed the idea of quitting the government, however the PTI leadership says the decision regarding KP would be taken in consultation with coalition partners.

The JI Chief Sirajul Haq has reiterated to save the KP government even if the PTI goes ahead with the resignations.

The JI, despite being in coalition with the PTI in KP, has dissociated itself from the 'Azadi March' and has vowed to save democracy at all costs.

The JI senior minister Inayatullah earlier speaking to Dawn.com said that they are opposed to the PTI's civil disobedience call and would not support any unconstitutional means on dissolution of assemblies.

On the other hand, opposition parties sources say are planning to move a no-confidence move in the assembly against the Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak as a legal move to stop the dissolution of the KP assembly by the chief executive if the crisis worsens.

In the 124 member KP Assembly, PTI has 56 seats, the JI has 8, Awami Jamhori Ittehad 5 seats, Moslem League Nawaz 17, JUI-F 17, Pakistain Peoples Party 5, Awami National Party
founded by Abdul Wali Khan in 1986. Part of the PPP-led cabinet 2008-13. The ANP is considered left wing, advocating for secularism, democratic socialism, public sector government, and economic egalitarianism....
5, Qaumi Wattan Party 10, while elections are still to be held in PK 68-5 Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...

The PTI-led coalition currently have 69 seats. If JI quit and join the opposition it will have 61 while opposition parties would have 62, one more than the govt. At the same time at least 15 MPs have a serious rift with the chief minister and can play a major role in the new set up.

    Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Abbas: Hamas Plot Against PA Threatens Unity Govt.
[Ynet] Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
replied to Shin Bet claims Monday, that Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, was responsible for attempts to incite a third intifada in the West Bank and topple the Paleostinians Authority government, saying that he was following the reports with great concern.

Abbas warned that the developing information posed a serious threat to the future of the Paleostinian Unity government. In his statement, the Paleostinian leader repeatedly stressed the name Hamas to more severly highlight the organization behind the foiled attempt some are calling a coup.

The Shin Bet revealed earlier that the investigation of 93 Hamas activists jugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
across the West Bank in recent months revealed that they participated in planning a series of mass attacks on Israeli targets — with a focus on violence in the Temple Mount compound — in order to instigate a third intifada.

The plan called for using the intifada as cover to seize rule in Ramallah, which would have been led by the "Mohammed Deif of the West Bank" who currently operates out of Turkey.

More than 70 indictments were served in recent days at military tribunals in the West Bank, and they expose the largest coordination effort Hamas has attempted in the area since Operation Defensive Shield more than a decade ago.

Under the framework of the planned operation, terror cells were created in 46 Paleostinian towns and villages — in Jenin, Nablus, East Jerusalem, Ramallah, and Hebron.

The infrastructure for the operation was exposed in May, along with the identity of its leader, Hamas operations officer Saleh al-Arouri, who remains in Turkey, according to the Shin Bet.

Ynet was told that in recent months there was an active movement of Hamas activists arriving to Hebron from abroad. These operatives were known to security forces to be loyal to al-Arouri.

The operatives were assisted by Jordanian couriers, who transferred $600,000 — $50,000 in each border run. The funds were moved through Turkey and Jordan and were intended to purchase vehicles and safe-houses.

The Shin Bet confiscated the cash,
    ...so useful in covering expenses...
as well as 24 M-16 rifles (not of Israeli manufacture), six handguns, and seven missile launchers, magazines, and loads of ammunition.

Al-Arouri was released from Israeli prison several years ago; he was one of the Hamas officials involved in the negotiations for the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. In recent years sources in the security establishment have named him as the source shaping terror operations against Israelis in the West Bank.

At the head of the military infrastructure in the West Bank stood Riyad Nasser, who was arrested several months ago — but whose interrogation only started in the summer after terminated his hunger strike.

Paleostinian engineering and chemistry students were recruited for the operation. One of the most notable detainees holds a doctorate in computer science — he was recuited in Malaysia and trained in encryption and cyber-attacks.

"The discovery of the infrastructure attests to the great danger posed by Hamas' headquarters abroad given its strategic plan to collapse the Paleostinian Authority," said the Shin Bet.

"Khaled Mashal was aware of this and the Turkish government knew about the operations emanating from its territory.
Ah. The third run of the Gaza convoy is an attempt to salvage something from the double fiasco of the disrupted Hamas West Bank takeover and the failed Gaza tunnels massacre. Israel's win over Hamas is much bigger than it previously appeared. Well done, all! Very well done, indeed.
The PA's security forces received updates about the investigation. Hamas' plan was the same as its seizure of the Strip in 2007. Al-Arouri is the Mohammed Deif of the West Bank."
Except that Mr. Md. Deif actually succeeded for a while.

Gaza truce extended for 24 hours
[Al Ahram] Israeli and Paleostinian negotiators agreed on Monday to extend a temporary ceasefire in Gazoo by 24 hours to conduct more talks on a long-term truce, Egypt and a Paleostinian official said.

Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, confirmed the extension, but blamed Israeli "obstinacy" in the gruelling negotiations.

A previous five-day ceasefire expired at midnight local time (2100 GMT).

"Both sides have agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire," the official with the Paleostinian delegation in Cairo said.

The official Egyptian MENA news agency later quoted an "official Egyptian statement" confirming the ceasefire's extension.

The negotiations centre on an Egyptian proposal that meets some of the Paleostinian demands, such as easing the blockade of Gazoo, but defer other stumbling blocks to later negotiations.

Hamas had repeatedly warned it would not extend the ceasefire, pressing for immediate gains that would allow it to claim concessions from Israel after the month-long Israeli offensive on the Gazoo Strip.

"The negotiations have faced difficulties because of the occupation's obstinacy, and the 24-hour (extension) came as a result of a request by the mediators to have another chance," senior Hamas official Ezzat al-Rishq wrote on Twitter.

The Paleostinian delegation officially presented its demands for a permanent ceasefire last week, which included an immediate Israeli withdrawal from Gazoo, halting Arclight airstrikes, lifting the Israeli blockade on the coastal strip, establishment of an airport and seaport and releasing Paleostinian prisoners.

"The rocket fire broke a nearly weeklong lull that has held during the Egyptian-mediated negotiations.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But shortly before the launch, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum hinted of more rocket fire, saying: "If Netanyahu doesn't understand ... the language of politics in Cairo, we know how to make him understand."

Israel Says It Foiled Hamas Plan For Massive Attacks On Israel, Coup Against PA
[IsraelTimes] Israel's Shin Bet security service said Monday it thwarted a Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, coup attempt in the West Bank aimed at toppling Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
and starting a third intifada uprising.

The Shin Bet said it tossed in the clink
    Please don't kill me!
more than 90 Hamas operatives in May and June, confiscated dozens of weapons that had been smuggled into the West Bank, and seized more than $170,000 aimed at funding attacks. It produced photos of the confiscated weapons and cash and a flowchart of the Hamas operatives who had been questioned, and said they planned a series of massive attacks on Israeli targets, including the Temple Mount, in order to start a widespread conflagration. Indictments are expected to be filed against at least 70 of the suspects.

Terror cells were set up in dozens of Paleostinian West Bank towns and villages — including in and around Jenin, Nablus, eastern Jerusalem, Ramallah, and Hebron — the Shin Bet said.

Many of those recruited for the cells were students studying chemistry and engineering, and academics, according to the investigation.

The Shin Ben said the plot was orchestrated by senior Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri, who is based in Turkey and enjoys the support of the local officials there.

Hamas seized control of the Gazoo Strip in 2007 from forces loyal to Abbas. It is currently negotiating in Cairo over a ceasefire to formally end the past six weeks of Israel-Hamas conflict.

The Israel-Hamas fighting was preceded by Israeli arrests of hundreds of Hamas members in the West Bank following the abduction and killing of three Israeli teenagers in June. The Shin Bet said it uncovered the West Bank coup plot due to information gleaned from those arrests.

The three teens — Eyal Yifrah, Gil-ad Shaar and Naftali Fraenkel — were slain on June 12 in the West Bank. Their killings were followed by the slaying of a Paleostinian youth in what was likely a Dire Revenge™ attack. Hamas stepped up rocket attacks on Israel from Gazoo, leading to Israeli Arclight airstrikes from July 8 at the start of what was called Operation Protective Edge. Nine days later, Israel sent in ground troops to destroy Hamas's underground cross-border tunnels constructed for attacks inside Israel.

Detailing what it said was the thwarted bid to topple the PA in the West Bank, the Shin Bet said Monday that Hamas military cells in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, run through headquarters in Turkey, sought to execute a string of attacks against Israel, overthrow the PA, and establish a second front against Israel during Operation Protective Edge.

The Shin Bet revealed that during a three-month operation, it arrested 93 activists and confiscated 24 rifles, six pistols, seven rocket launchers, a large amount of ammunition, a getaway car, and funds amounting to over NIS 600,000 (some $170,000). It said that the infrastructure for the unusually "severe" string of attacks was based, also, on a "forward front in Jordan."

Using a network of couriers to Jordan and Turkey, the Shin Bet said, the Hamas activists transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars of funds into the West Bank, with the intention of purchasing arms, and preparing safe houses, warehouses for weapons and laboratories for manufacturing rockets.

The leader of the operation, Riad Nasser, a resident of the village Dir Kadis, was recruited by al-Arouri, the head of West Bank operations for Hamas abroad, the Shin Bet said. Al-Arouri was one of the founders of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the Hamas military wing

The Times of Israel's Avi Issacharoff reported in June that, according to an Israeli security official, al-Arouri was behind the kidnapping and killing of the three Israeli teens on June 12.

Udeh Zaharan, a resident of Zarka in Jordan and a former Israeli security prisoner, funneled the money into the West Bank via a network of couriers, the Shin Bet said.

Other key operatives included Majdi Mafarja, a resident of Beit Likiya, who has a doctorate in computer science and was recruited in Malaysia. According to the Shin Bet, he was arrested on May 22 and admitted during interrogation that he had served as courier for apparently encoded messages for the military wing of Hamas.

Salah Barakat, an Israeli citizen and resident of the Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Safafa, was arrested on July 1 and admitted, too, to passing messages from the Hamas diaspora to the operatives in the field.

Muhammad Kafaya, a former leader in the Hamas student union in Abu Dis University, was arrested on June 27. He turned over 19 rifles and five handguns.

The Shin Bet called the network "one of the most widespread we have known," and said that its existence pointed to the danger of Hamas operations abroad, particularly in light "of Hamas' strategic intentions of toppling the PA."

Palestinians expect truce extension in case of no deal
Looking back to how things appeared just a few hours before the truce extension from Iran...
[Iran Press TV] Mon Aug 18, 2014 4:55PM
Representatives of Paleostinian resistance groups holding indirect negotiations for a lasting ceasefire with Israel in Gazoo say they expect the truce to be extended if an agreement is not reached.

The head of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
movement within the Paleostinian delegation said on Monday that Paleostinians do not want to go back to war.

The comments come as the latest round of negotiations between Israelis and Paleostinians has not produced any results so far as a five-day ceasefire in the coastal enclave is nearing its end.

The two sides in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, have just hours left to either reach a deal, accept a further extension of truce, or risk a resumption of the fighting.

Paleostinian negotiators have hinted that no long-term deal will be signed with Israel if the Paleostinians' demands are not met.

The Paleostinian resistance movement Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, wants the seven-year siege of Gazoo to be removed, but Tel Aviv claims it will only take the measure if Hamas is disarmed.

Israel launched a major military offensive against the blockaded Gazoo Strip on July 8, which raged for more than a month.

Hamas and Israel had agreed on the extension of a 72-hour truce for five more days late on August 13. The five-day truce is due to expire Monday at midnight.

No sign of Gaza talks breakthrough as cease-fire nears end
...And how things appeared just before the truce extension from Saudi Arabia:
[ARABNEWS] Talks in Cairo on ending the Gazoo war showed no signs of a breakthrough on Monday, with Israel and the Paleostinians entrenched in their demands hours before the expiration of a five-day cease-fire.

The truce is due to run out at 2100 GMT. A Paleostinian source quoted by Egypt's state news agency MENA said Egyptian mediators were making "a big effort to reach an agreement in the coming hours."

Both sides said gaps remain in reaching a long-term deal that would keep the peace between Israel and myrmidon groups in the Gazoo Strip, dominated by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, Islamists, and allow reconstruction aid to flow in after five weeks of fighting.

Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni addressed the prospect of renewed hostilities, while signalling that Israel would continue to hold its fire as long as Paleostinians did the same.

"If they shoot at us, we will respond," Livni, a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet, told Israel Radio.

The Paleostinian Health Ministry put the Gazoo corpse count at 2,016 and said most were civilians in the small, densely populated coastal territory. Sixty-four Israeli soldiers and three civilians in Israel have been killed.

Late on Sunday, a Paleostinian official said Israel's position in the talks, as presented to them by Egyptian mediators, was a "retreat from what had already been achieved and discussions had returned to square one."

The official, who was not named, told MENA that Israel had toughened its stance and had presented "impossible" demands, particularly on security issues. He said the Paleostinians would review the situation and offer their response on Monday.

"We are determined to achieve the demands of our people and foremost is ending the aggression and launching the rebuilding process and lifting the Israeli-imposed blockade of the Gazoo Strip," MENA quoted the official as saying.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Truce Deal in District of Syrian Capital
[AnNahar] The Syrian authorities and rebels agreed a truce Monday in the southern Damascus district of Qadam which was a battlefield for more than a year, state news agency SANA reported.

"A reconciliation agreement came into force on Monday," the agency reported Sheikh Jabr Issa, chairman of the reconciliation committee, as saying.

"Efforts aim to facilitate the return of citizens and the functioning of public services," he said..

"Sand barriers will be removed to allow streets to open and citizens to return" to the area south of the capital on the road to Daraa, the main city in southern Syria.

"The agreement provides that lists be drawn up of gunnies to regularize their status, while others containing the names of those kidnapped (by rebels) will be given" to the authorities, SANA said.

The Syrian army has never managed to take the district which has been held by various rebel factions with the exception of the jihadists of the Islamic State.

Monday's accord came after government forces on Thursday took the key Mleiha area on the road to Damascus airport after months of fighting.

Several local ceasefires had already been agreed in areas around Damascus, notably Qudsaya in the northeast, the southwest suburb of Moadamiyet al-Sham, Beit Yahem and Yalda in the south and Barzeh in the north.

More than 170,000 people are estimated to have been killed in the conflict that was sparked by a government crackdown on peaceful demonstrations in mid-March 2011.

Upwards of nine million people have also been forced to flee their homes because of the fighting.

Bassil: We Reject Iraqi Refugees, ISIL will be Defeated
[AnNahar] Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil said on Monday that Leb rejects to welcome Iraqi refugees, asking them to remain in their land.

"Calls to welcome displaced Iraqis are rejected. We urge them to stay in their land," Bassil said during a joint presser with his Iraqi counterpart Hussein al-Shahristani in Baghdad.

But we welcome Iraqi tourists in Leb, he said.

Bassil said the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), now named Islamic State, will be defeated in Iraq, but warned that its murderous Moslem thoughts could remain.

"What will happen after ISIL? Is it going to be fed intellectually and financially?" he asked.

Bassil also warned that the Christians in the Middle East were under threat.

Islamic State (IS) jihadists launched in early June a major offensive in northern Iraq, sweeping Iraqi security forces aside.

The holy warriors have declared a "caliphate" straddling vast areas of Iraq and Syria.

Human rights groups and residents say IS fighters have been demanding that religious minorities in the djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
region either convert or leave, unleashing violent reprisals on any who refuse.

Members of minority groups including the Yazidis, Christians, Shabak and Turkmen, remain under threat of kidnapping or death at the hands of the jihadists.

"If things remain the way they are, then the Christians will be under threat not just in Mosul but in the entire Orient," Bassil said.

#1  The priority of POTUS Obama the Globalist is to set + empower OWG-NWO + associated Global Federal Unions headed by one or more US-style OWG Co-Superpowers, e.g. SOON-TO-BE-NUKULAAR IRAN.

IMO IT DOESN'T MATTER TO THE BAMMER IFF THE ISIS = "ISLAMIC STATE" CALIPHATE PER SE IS DESTROYED OR ONLY CONTAINED - ITS FATE WILL SUBJECTIVELY BE UP TO THE FUTURE MEMBER-NATIONS OF
PROPOSED "MUSLIM/ISLAMIC UNION", MIDDLE EAST UNION, PERSIAN GULF UNION, "SUNNI-ONLY-VS-SHIA -
ONLY" UNION, MEDITERRANEAN UNION, ... ...ETC.

Which ISRAEL is seemingly NOT allowed to be a Member-Nation or only "Associated".

N-O-T THE US-LED? NORTH AMERICAN UNION = NAU, ETC.
