#2 Looks like they are running side-by-side and the article states that the Charles de Gaulle is operationg as part of the Eisenhower battle group.

#3 Control Tower of the CdG seems really far forward. I'm guess with the deck space, it is the only place it could go with the takeoff/landing areas. Any Navy buffs have a short explanation?

#4 No, but notice the bow portion of the flt deck is a bit elevated, whereas USN boats are flat.

#5 Al I could find out (Reddit comment) was that the island was placed to optimize navigation as opposed to plane handling (US).

Perhaps it also eases access to the reactors? They have to be refueled every six or seven years (seriously).
