#1 You mean, this is the retirement Central Government planned for you, right Komrade?

#2 Parents? I though Soviet Central planning dictated that males were not needed.

#4 The open borders policy has turned middle America into a trailer park full of broken families. Thanks Joe.

#6 4% of the people over 65 are taking care of their grand-children. Isn’t life terrible? Are they counting couples? If so them it is only 2%. A better question is how much financial assistance does the government provide.

#7 I know a fair number of grandparents providing various degrees of care or support for grandchildren, for various reasons. As the ‘family genealogist’ I know this is nothing new. Reasons change with time but it’s probably why we have evolved with a lifespan of TWO generations.

#9 I saw this up close and personal.

The grandparents are, at least partially, motivated by guilt and have already raised, albeit sometimes poorly, their brood.

Their grandkids don't understand the abandonment and why Grandma and/or Grandpa seem so angry sometimes.

#10 In 1930, for reasons unknown, wife’s grandmother left the family and disappeared; wife’s 3 year old mother was raised by great-aunt, who to this day remembers that pain. Wife’s mother raised eight kids, total of one divorced (after 20+ years). 15 grandkids, total of two divorced, and the ratio continues (I can’t count that high without paper even with my shoes off..)
