#2 DOING SOME MATH

According to reports, newer 2019 --> EV's Energy average demands are closer to 2 times the amount of an average household annual consumption. Not the once kicked around 10x's, as it was calculated in earlier years.

Either way, unless you are charging your EV at a free shopping center EV charging station.
The average U.S. household spends about $122 per month of average for household electricity.
Owning an EV would add about $2,928 a year, for less than the 300 miles received on a full charge.
Your electrical bill with a EV would be 3x's its previous amount.

Verses, a gas powered car @ $2.95 a gallon (current 87octane price my area) with a weekly fill up of 15 gallons of gas gets 300 to 350 mpg. Annual cost around $2,301. Which is about $627 less per year than EV power.

Now toss the $4,500 to $7,500 EV battery MTBF issue.
Since a many of battery manufacturers give a warranty on their batteries of around 100,000 kms (+- 62,000 miles).
But as Americans, we drive about 14,263 miles per year, according to the Federal Highway Administration.
That means the battery warranty end around 4.3 years (51+/- months) into ownership.

The typical new-car loan duration for people with Good credit scores is roughly 60 months.
So a EV owner's butt is on the hook for about 14 extra possible months more than most expensive car item lasts.

BTW: Where is the USA Electrical Grid producers going to find additional power generation to supply the estimated 52% of all vehicles being EV by 2030?

Using 52% of the estimated 276 Million cars (2019) now in the US. Would mean they need to add/ build 300% more Power production.

So I ask again.
How is the EV industry going to save the environment and save us $$$$?

#5 California has banned all ic powered outdoor equipment, so that electric rider mower wont do much good. If any ‘Burgers were considering an electric mower, my friend runs a small engine shop and is swamped with electric units needing repairs. Mainly bad batteries and charging systems. Service from the OEMs for parts/tech data is sad.

#6 ^ I have a friend who loves his electric lawn mower because his wife can no longer use the excuse "It won't start" when he sends her out to cut the grass.

#7 So the ban IC for EV didn't even make it into the first Winter.

Simple - burn more coal! (Wish I could put a /sarc on that).

BTW: Saving the environment was *never* their intention. As you know.

#13 Not enough rare earth minerals on all of Earth to replace all IC vehicles on the road now. Sort of like taxing rich people at 100%, it would only solve the problem for 6 months and then where are you?

#19 We point and laugh, but the fallacy is thinking that vehicles will be available to everyone, like they are now.

The grid doesn't have to be upgraded, if there are so few EV available that only 'certain types' will be able to afford them.

Saving the world and all that are, if you will, trappings.
