#2 By taking Ridkodub, the Russian escape line from Lyman to the north is cut off. Now they have to cross the Kherberets river to the east to get out. Lyman is effectively in a pocket.

Ukrainians took Petropavlika (near Kupiansk). Only one town, Novoselivske, on H-26 highway to Svatove. Still a long ride of 50km.

#3 The Ukrainians are on the outskirts of Novoliubivka. They take that north-south road to the east and that will shift the major supply lines 14km to the next road east. Adds a lot of driving time for the Russian trucks.
