Bullshit. They know in great detail what a botchjob the Ukrainian military are. They know that the Ukrainians are losing horrific numbers of men and materiel, that they're running out of trained, competent troops and that the Russians are grinding them into dust.

British, French, German military analysts all expect the Donbas to be under Russian control within a couple of weeks at the latest.

This New York Times piece is a purchased editorial designed to get out front of the blame for Ukraine's defeat. The American intelligence agencies are launching a pre-emptive strike before the collapse: "It wasn't us!"

#4 Never mind reality. Keep lying to the Americans -- they'll swallow anything and tell their people any fairytale, no matter how detached from reality, so long as the dosh keeps flowing:

Ukraine, the officials said, wants to present an image of strength, both to the public and to its close partners. The government does not want to share information that could suggest a weakening of resolve, or give the impression that they might not win.

In essence, Ukrainian officials do not want to present information that might encourage the United States and its other Western partners to slow the flow of arms.

#6 They're not in the dark. The German and Austrian military analysts have spoken publicly, at length and in detail, about the actual situation in the Donbas.

Col. Markus Reisner of Austria's prestigious military academy has even posted his detailed tactical briefings, in English as well as in German, on YouTube.

No one is "in the dark." Russia is dominating the Ukrainians and is now completing its capture of the south and east.

#7 Even Zelensky's mouthpiece is edging closer to reality -- still undercounting by at least 200 but nonetheless starting to prepare the American and British publics for the inevitable collapse. From the BBC's World Service:

Ukrainian military casualties are now between 100 and 200 a day, according to Mykhaylo Podolyak, senior adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky - the highest estimated total to have been made public so far.

Speaking to BBC World Service's Newshour programme, Mykhaylo Podolyak says one of the main reasons for the high casualty numbers is the lack of parity between Ukrainian and Russian military capabilities.

According to Zelensky's senior adviser, Ukraine needs hundreds, not a handful, of the most powerful artillery systems the West can provide.

#8 The true number of Ukrainian losses per day is in the range of 500. The Russian reported data is precise, detailed, verifiable and the Killed In Action numbers are realistic:

- 320 Ukrainians KIA:
11:57 Missile troops and artillery hit 68 command posts, 172 firing positions and 261 areas of concentration of manpower and equipment, more than 320 nationalists were destroyed.

- Another 160 Ukrainians KIA:
11:57 A total of 63 areas of accumulation of manpower and equipment were hit, the command post of the 14th mechanized brigade, more than 160 nationalists, eight tanks, two Grad installations, an artillery battery, an electronic warfare station were destroyed.

- Unknown but likely another 10-20 Ukrainians KIA:
11:57 Missiles hit two Ukrainian command posts, 13 areas of concentration of manpower and equipment, and near Kharkov - a battery of multiple launch rocket systems "Hurricane".
11:57 Russian air defense shot down two Air Force MiG-29 aircraft near Snegirevka in the Nikolaev region and a Mi-8 helicopter near Belaya Krinitsa in the Nikolaev region.

#9 Yes, the real casualty rate is so catastrophically high that the CIA is telling Julian Barnes and Andrew Kramer to create a new Narrative of plausible deniability.

Ukraine's remaining Donbas troops will be wiped out and 1/3 of the entire country will be under Russian control in short order. Poland is moving in from the west.

Close to 90% of Ukraine's productive regions are lost, for good, to Russia. All the natural gas reserves, the minerals, the most fertile land, the shipyards and steel mills...

Within a few months Ukraine will have the same GDP and wealth as a west Saharan basket case. It's no longer a viable state. Will there even be an independent Ukraine a year from now?

No wonder Washington's already started the Blame Game. Afghanistan last year, Ukraine this year... Heckuva job, Brandon!

Not all... Nikolaev / Mykolayiv is under Ukrainian control (for now). Once the Donbas Ukrainian troops are destroyed, the Russians will redeploy toward Nikolaev and take that last remaining industrial prize. Then Ukraine will have a GDP of about €20 billion per year

Aiden Aslin, the captured soldier of fortune, now says he has been abandoned by both Kyiv and London. "They [the Ukrainian government] could have easily ended the war. They had the opportunity but they chose not to, mainly because I think money was involved,” Aslin said.

Aslin urges other western would-be mercenaries considering shipping off to with Ukraine not to be “duped into a war that is one you should not be fighting.”

His view of the Azov fascists changed when they threatened to slice off his pro-Kurdish tattoos. Aslin says he has more affinity for the pro-Russian Donbas troops than for the neo-Nazis he found himself thrown in with on the Ukrainian side.
