#2 You understand that carried to the logical point that means the national government also isn't absolute.

#7 Great talking point for every conservative pol and candidate: "The Constitution is absolute. What isn't absolute is your feelings."

#8 Constitution has a built in method to change.
If you think you have the support to change the 2nd Amendment the pathway is clear. Since liberals have never even attempted to actually change the Amendment we know they know they are vastly outnumbered on the issue.

#13 Joe's worried about the 'large-caliber' 9 mm handgun. But the 5.56 mm is OK? It's pretty close to 22 caliber, Joe. Whaddaya think?

Do you think?

#15 Madison put forward the Bill of Rights amendments as a first order of business in the new Congress after he had promised people that he would make that effort during the ratification process. Many people were concerned that Federal Power could grow unchecked if personal and state rights were not codified within the Constitution. The argument that the 2nd Amendment does not reserve the individual right to bear arms doesn’t make any sense logically or historically. Canada is certainly proving why the 2nd Amendment was a good idea. I don’t think Canada’s Charter of Rights includes a similar provision.

#16 The lie about the Second Amendment is telling, the Second Amendment is a statement of absolute right. The unorganized militia, essentially the entire population of fighting age, was to have personal arms to provide for national defense and as a bulwark against any form of tyranny, whether foreign or domestic The deflection about hunting and "self-defense" as a primary basis for the 2A is pure BS. As a poster in CTH notes succinctly:
"Moondoggie

Joe LIES!

When the Constitution was ratified there were NO laws prohibiting the purchase of cannon. Most of the cannon used by local militias were privately owned. Also, many merchant ships had their own cannon…not only for self protection, but also so that merchant ships could be rapidly converted to “Naval Auxiliaries” by issuing “Letters of Marque”. “Privateers” existed up until the time of the Civil War…possibly longer.

You could own any weapon you wanted up until the National Firearms Act of 1934. There was a Remmington Model 1907 rifle…30.06 caliber, semi-automatic, 20 round detachable magazine, 180,000 sold…zero mass shooting..."

Make no mistake, this is the emerging predicate for the long term goal of disarming the public.

#18 Re: #15 above. The first paragraph of the Canuckistanian Rights and Freedoms dismisses everything that follows it. It is a document that lists all the Rights and Freedoms that the Federal Canuckistanian Gummint MAY let you enjoy if it so pleases them.

#19 Thank you for the clarification. Stateside, I would like to see handguns banned for Alek Baldwin. That may be a violation of the Constitution, but I think it is a good idea.

#21 The US got its ass kicked in Afghanistan by men with rifles and no F-15s or tanks

Kicked? Where? What's the name of the battle? The loss in Afghanistan was due to politics that 1) expanded its mission beyond the retribution for 9/11 and 2) didn't allow the military to 'win'.
