#4 The T-90 is a huge piece of shit. This guy breaks it down pretty well.

It is basically a T-72 variant. The upgraded features of the T-90M are a digital display, blow out panels and the commander finally has his own infrared display. The armor is still just the same rolled steel as the T-72 however and the full powered ammunition that can defeat western tanks that Russia made is too long for the autoloader so the T-90 still used the old ammunition. In fact the only tank that can use the new ammunition is the T-14 and that isn't going into full production runs anytime soon.

The T-90M has a more advanced composite layered armor similar to the M1 and the Challenger, making it a tougher kill to both HEAT and solid shot.

Also included is a more advanced fire control system and Thermal sights.

As someone pointed out in a thread yesterday, the problem with Russian tanks aren't only the tanks, but how they are used.

Russian SOP regarding tanks is that they are just a big gun to bring into a fight. That makes them easy pickings for light or dismounted infantry.

#6 Why is that tank operating on its own without any apparent support around it? One would think by now the Russians would have integrated air defense postures into their tactical battleplan.

It's not like they don't understand the concept. The Egyptians, under their tutelage, covered the airspace over the Suez in the '73 war. It was a mix and mass of air defense that the Israelis suffered heavily from. It took the armor leaping the canal and taking it out that allow the IAF to regain the skies. However, the Egyptians couldn't get out from underneath the air defense umbrella without suffering a check on ground operations.

Again a near total lack of combined arms integration at the tactical level.

#10 Because the Russian society has become a totally corrupt system, so the normal logic and equipment they could have is consumed in the theft process.

You become a general officer, police officer or politician to steal from the nation.

Caring about tactics and soldiers isn't part of that process.
