as it turned out when the Russian tanks and trucks got stuck and/or barely mobile, the NLAW became a fearsome weapon

#5 Hopefully, the Next Gen LAW is better than Next Gen Star Trek.

While we are making comparisons, a stick weighs less than a LAW and costs only a fraction as much, even with mil-spec sticks costing a lot more than regular sticks you find in the woods. The main downside is the somewhat shorter range.

#6 Bit of background from a M-47 Dragon anti-tank user.

Both American and western NATO nations use the different missiles as part of an overall doctrine. So you have a infantry battalion dug in and the Soviets are assaulting with a tank brigade. You as the NATO unit have a platoon of M-1s and two Apaches in support.

The M-1s, TOWs and Hellfires are for softening up the attack by taking out the heaviest tanks at the longest range (1-2KM) along with any leadership tank (they have two antennas) you see.

Once they get to 800 meters the Javelins are used to continue taking out tanks and anti-aircraft vehicles that are seen. By 300 meters the NLAWs, AT-4s and LAWs are used against the infantry carriers. Hopefully by this time you have taken out all or most of the SAMs and AA vehicles and you call in the A-10s to have a party.

The NLAW is the close range and last line of defense for infantry. And as Lord Garth pointed out, a slow and confined tank column is a perfect place to use it as well. For our vehicle ambushes, hit the front one, hit the back then hit any SAM/AA ones, pull back and call A-10s and artillery to finish up the now trapped column. Dragons and AT-4s were perfect for that scenario.
