#1 A taking without just compensation. Who needs a Constitution, there really is only power.

#2 Rental property, the downside.

#3 We're seeing similar situations around here. The owners with small numbers of rental units are just getting hammered. The tenants aren't paying rent....because they don't have to.

The Banks don't care, the utility companies don't care, the folks doing repairs don't care (yes, you still have to keep up the property or risk fines and lawsuits) and the tax collectors don't care.

This poor woman and her daughter are living out of their car while her tenants have a warm place to call home.

#5 The Banks don't care,

The banks and Wall Street DO care - they are buying up all these distressed properties and now control 1/7 of the housing market. THEY are too big to fail, so the government will gladly underwrite any funding they lack.

#6 /\ Same thing happened in the Great Depression. Bank officer and their pals knew which farmers and businesses were in trouble. They oftentimes stepped forward and purchased farms and businesses at a fraction of the value.

#7 One of my accounting professors mentioned how his group used to deal with squatters and people needing eviction. At first they tried the legal way, and that was expensive and time consuming...so they went with hired goons. When the goons showed up, slowly read the note that says, "Boss man says you get out now or..." They got out. Turned out to be much cheaper.
