Never dabbled in Bitcoins, so I have to ask wiser people than myself on the subject.

I thought a major selling point of Bitcoins was non-traceability and monitoring by the worlds Gov.'s

#7 The currency is secure. its the "exchanges" that are not, and you generally need an exchange to convert it from virtual currency to real-world money. Nobody can tell how much bitcoin or stuff that you have, but they can tell when someone gives you cash, eventually.
