#5 If the purpose of the Israeli reaction was to stop the firing of rockets, this guy's comment might have some sense to it.
But the purposes seem to me to affect the morale of the Hamas leadership, to reduce the weapons resources of Hamas, and to minimize the damage from Hamas's weapons.
Every missile shot off, was a missile no longer available to Hamas.
The important questions are, how much damage did the missiles do to Israel? How many Israeli casualties did they cause? How much did the Israeli military learn from the attacks and how can it improve its methods and forces as a result of that learning.
My impression is that the casualties in Israel and damage to Israel assets were not excessive.
Most importantly, what is the lesson that Hezbollah learned from this test?
Will the destruction to Lebanon be so vast that it will avoid a similar war?
