#4 Silly Californians. If they only went with 100% electric vehicles they could plug them into the grid and run the grid off all the extra electricity stored in the cars battery acquired by charging the cars overnight off the solar cells on the roof.

So in NPR world it's a demand-side problem rather than a failure of California's gummint to anticipate the need for increased supply ("We see no reason why it should get hot this summer"). Swelter for Gaia.
