#1 The county’s earlier summary report had listed fentanyl intoxication and recent methamphetamine use under "other significant conditions" but not under "cause of death."

Might have explained his removal/exit from the squad car. Having a drug related fit and kicking the windows out could have resulted in the police removing him from the vehicle or Floyd lunging out on his own.

Pre-existing medical conditions led to, or contributed to his untimely death? A murder conviction is likely going to be very difficult.

#2 Agreed. Murder is going to be a tough sell. So, be ready for another wave of riots in due time.

#3 Given that - per our BLM/Antifa-symp mayors and NYT journos - violent destruction of property is not a crime, perhaps Round 2 of the riots will target officially-designated "Free Expression Zones"?

#4 I feel like I am in some bizarre movie when I hear politicians saying the destruction of property is not a crime. Rule of law takes yet another hit. And what a precedent being set.

#5 Yes, there was a mention of change of venue in another thread. I think all that any change of venue would do is push up the odds of jury nullification. And heavy handed efforts to get a jury that will see it emir Ellison's way will just backfire on appeal.

Dude knelt on his throat for almost 10 minutes.

#7 November may well be even bigger for President Trump and Republicans than 2016 was. There is a big enthusiasm gap between Trump voters and Biden voters.

#8 If he goes free we get rioting. It'd be interesting to see Keith Ellison in the middle of all that.

#10 #7 tw, agreed. Don't forget the Bradley Effect. Gonna be YUGE this November. Dems will wonder what happened to their great white suburban soccer-mom hope.

Moms are the most conservative voters of all -- security is Job 1 for them.

The Dems' no-longer hidden, open alliance with a violent anarchists movement that's now moving into the suburbs is terrifying to most of these security-minded swing voters.

#11 So that means COVID-19 should be listed as the cause of death, right? Then Chauvin can’t be charged with murder.
