#2 When all of this is over, can the damage be undone?

I don't want the damage "undone" if the price is going back to unthinking reverence for institutions and people who abuse their power.

I'd rather the normies take things on a case by case basis.

If the trust is earned and not abused -- give trust(but always reassess).

If not, then don't.
