Next step will be entry of Indian businesses into kashmir, property sales and residentials just like any other state, and removal of 'muslim dominated' tag from the legislature. Elections will be held in two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir separately, so islamist whims announced by masjids will no longer be taken as democratic consensus.

After that comes the restoration of hindus that were driven out from the state, opening of churches that the JUD closed down, the schools that were burnt. There must remain no more muslim majority regions in India.

Move welcomed by all of India, cutting off the legs of the separatist factions and bringing the decades old Kashmir problem to the beginning of a solution.

#6 This is an extremely positive development. I've only met around a dozen Kashmiri, but every single one of them was arrogant and obnoxious. It is way past time for them to be taken down a notch.

So, Dron66046, I'll be in New Delhi for the month of October. If you're in the vicinty we could have a Burgfest on the sub continent.

Unlike federal governments, a Union territory is administered directly by the central govt. While it can have legislative assemblies, the police and courts no longer answer to local govt. Also, the center can make any laws applicable to any state list subjects without consulting the representatives. Kashmir's administrators and local leaders thought they could enjoy the best of both worlds; procuring development budgets from the center and protection against prosecution from their special status. They became a bunch of cyclical autocrats The half of them are stooges of the Jamaats in the 'Stain. The other half are opportunist bastards of the leftist variety. who profiteered for decades from this bugbear.

All the dethroned dynasts and Pak sycophants. Some are in jail, couldn't make it to the 'garden protest'.

The division down the middle is another strategic move suggested for years by the military, to have separate commands in the occasion of a two pronged attack, against China. The war will be paced differently on both sides due to terrain and enemy capabilities and a single Northern Command will be hard pressed to run it. Also, Ladakh is primarily buddhist but the rising muslim influx has to be curbed. The population there needs only economic welfare, jobs and education. Plans are in motion to that effect. I think heavier military presence and BMD platforms, an airbase may be in the works.
