#5 TW, there was an obvious 'quickness' about her; it never seemed like she was reading from a prompter; her interviews were clear and concise; plus the trivial yet essential - pleasant voice and interesting to look at. Coptic Egyptian background IIRC.

I suspect the era of ridiculously high salaries is over now.

I'd be more than happy with a 7 mil salary!

#9 ^ Ditto that -- "Today" is pretty much outer darkness in my scheme -- but Glenmore's description's dead on. She was special. Don't think I ever heard a negative word about her from any Orleanian whatsoever, rabid racists included. Got in a cab one evening. Driver, in awed voice: "Dude, my last fare was Hoda Kotb... sitting right there where you're sitting... just dropped her off a second ago." Me: "Cut it out, you're turnin' me on." Pretty much any other "star," I'd've been all, "Yeah, thought I smelled something." People loved her. Simpler times.
