#1 It makes renting less affordable and also lowers wages.

That's a great subsidy to the establishment.

#2 Obviously, Mexico doesn't feel the love -

Article 33

"The Federal Executive shall have the exclusive power to compel any foreigner whose remaining he may deem inexpedient to abandon the national territory immediately and without the necessity of previous legal action."
"Foreigners may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country."
- Constitution of Mexico

#3 I wonder what he would feel if someone (or an entire extended family) were to move into his house and start eating his food and guzzling his booze, leaving messes all over, peeing on the walls, stealing from his wife and kids, and hogging the TV remote.

Would he call the cops? Demand that they leave immediately? After all their moving is is simply an act of love!

#5 His wife is Mexican so I suspect a lot of pro immigration background noise coming from the house.

Mexico is poverty, no education, no money. However people can't just walk in from there, they need to prove they are hard workers and believe in free enterprise and will pay their taxes, not a criminal. I know one guy who is about 50 from Mexico who works from 9 in the morning until 10 at night in a restaurant. Never sits down. They are welcome here if they followed a legal immigration process tailored for the Mexican background.

Unfortunately, the Rhinos and Dems are interested only in votes regardless of the fact that there are many of these people who are moochers, coyotes, and bandits.

#6 What bout the folks who are trying to enter the country legally? Why shouldn't they just tear up the papers and stay?

Because the lawyer they need to guide them through the legal process won't allow it?

#7 Voting against any politician in favor of the Dream Act is also an act of love. It's called love of country.

#8 You aren't demonstrating love if you fail to apply discipline and enforce the rule of law in fact, you are setting the country up to reap disastrous, painful results from the endorsement of illegal behavior and subsequent destructive choices. A good leader speaks and acts to dissuade illegal behavior to 1) protect the nation from further illegal behavior that could hurt others, and 2) restore the strength of the rule of law to health and wholeness.

Jeb Bush is contemplating running for the highest public office in the land, The Presidency of the United States of America. America has now had at least six years of this kind of disregard for the rule of law.

Frankly enough is enough, the next President needs to apply respect to the will of the United States citizenry not to the illegal alien and discipline himself to uphold the rule of law to strengthen the nation.

Your statement Mr. Bush, indicates you do not possess the discipline to provide the leadership this country in its hour of need.

#10 Mexico is poverty, no education, no money.

Except for the upper percent who own and operate the place. Why should they reform it or even face revolution from the masses if they can dump their excess on the US. That's why they don't care about sealing the border. It works for their retention of power.

By the time of the armistice in Korea, South Korea as pretty much a economic basket case. It's a small area the size of Kansas or Florida. It has little natural resources and very limited arable land. Yet today it's GDP is ranked near Mexico's which several times it's size, has abundant natural resources, vast arable lands, a much larger population and hadn't suffered the extensive economic devastation that South Korea experienced. The only difference between the two is the deep underlying culture of corruption that has drained the potential of the country and has hurt the vast majority of its own citizens.

Till that is resolved the border will continue to be overflowing with what the ruling class in Mexico City dumps on the US.

Had the Beltway listened 10 years ago and had really sealed the border, much of this discussion would not even be here. Some sort of amnesty probably would have been worked out. However, the pols lie and lie again about doing something about it and then demonize those who want to end the farce this has all become.

#13 Thanks Jeb, for helping me see what you are so early. Yet another example of why New England cannot seem to produce a genuine conservative, and of how dire a state the nation is in when pandering to 20 million illegals is considered essential for political strategy in the Republican establishment. The Republic is really, really in trouble.

#15 Illegal immigration is often an act of love? Only if you believe rape is consensual sex and child molestation is an expression of love towards children. Illegal immigration is country and culture destroying. I saw where Germany does not permit citizenship unless you pass a German language proficiency test. If you don't pass the test, you don't get citizenship even if you married to a German citizen.

#17 We simply love the village of Einsiedeln, SZ. I'm sure the Swiss won't mind if we just bring the kids along and relocate there. I'll find some work in a hotel or cafĂ©.

Bay of Islands, NZ for me. The locals will accept me even without documents, won't they? After all, it's the "progressive" thing to do...

#20 No worries, Besoeker. And one more thing...since they speak English in NZ, I have to come up with part of "my culture" that I MUST be allowed to retain no matter what. I think I'll keep on driving on the right side of the road :-)

#21 We have the Mexicans that come here illegally, they find work, pay for their families in Mexico and eek out a living for themselves here. They have to keep their heads down, stay away from crime and the rest out of fear of deportation, and yet they still come, they find work and survive. Then we have the gettos in NYC. They feel we own them housing, a phone, internet, money for food, booze, and whatever. They wont leave the projects, look for work, and bitch and complain about how racist America is. I would take ever Mexican across the border with open arms over New York City projects any day.

#22 It ain't gonna be JEB that's for sure, the name kills. But unless some currently obscure Republican can catch lighting in a bottle we're looking at 8 more years. The good news is that the party will continue to purify and distill itself until such time as there can be a consensus on WTF a Republican is.
