#2 Don't set a precedent that will later cause problems. Let Assange sit in the embassy as long as the Ecuadorians can tolerate him -- it won't be that long.

Reminds me of the old story of a Roman legion besieging a city. The inhabitants of said city boasted to the Roman legate that they had enough supplies to withstand a ten year siege. The legate replied that the Romans would wait eleven years.
