#2 There were some youthful rock climbers, two guys and a girl, in one of the stans some years back. They were captured by one of the start-up rebel (against something, anything) groups and kept on the march for some days. Eventually, left with only one guard, they pushed him over a cliff and got themselves free.
Thing is, eventually, without discipline and procedures, groups like this begin to think you're no longer an escape threat and forget to be watching. So you fake it until you can get away.
