#6 Alaska , Arkansas, and California earthquake activity have increased but in California I believe intensity has increased to 3 something. All except Arkansas in the "ring of fire". 6.6 is big in a very unstable area anyway.

#8 I just checked USGS for current earthquake activity. Many entries for Japan around 5 magnitude on average. Very very active area right now.
