Seriously, the nice thing about capitalistic societies is that one can choose to pay less, and remember to fill one's pockets with small change, or pay more to have a more luxurious experience. There's always Virgin Airlines or British Air, after all.

#4 This has come up before. Ryanair makes a viral announcement they will charge for the life rafts or to breath oxygen, they get loads of press, then they come out denying they will do that and everyone breathes a sigh of relief. And books more flights on Ryanair. Airlines need to simply weigh each passenger and charge by the pound - after all, pax are only self-loading cargo!!!

#6 I suggest sliding them into narrow honeycomb-like compartments.

Just hook them up to Feeding and Waste Removal tubes and you have the ultimate in passenger packing. Just don't mix up the tubes.

The only problem I have with short-haul standing flights is that more people = slower evacuation.
