#6 Don't know about youz guyz, but for me it's not just the substance of this scandal/fiasco (which I have regarded as such for many years, not just since CRUgate), but the utter collapse of critical intelligence and integrity it implies about the broader "educated" community in developed nations, that I find devastating.

The intellectual/moral collapse of the institutions rests of course on a parallel collapse among a large swath of the populace - in this case the "educated" swath. My views on all this are too dark to even express here - which is saying something.
