#1 This portion of the story is interesting, . . .

"The following day Rose attacked a Heinkel 111 and closed to within a few yards to shoot the bomber's port engine. Oil from the engine covered the windscreen of his Hurricane so he climbed away, slowed the aircraft down to almost stalling speed, loosened his harness, stood on his seat and leant out of the cockpit in an attempt to clean the windscreen."

I don't think they go over that procedure in pilot training nowadays. Any RB pilots ever do this?

#6 #1 Rose was famous in mil lore wid this one - IIRC MILITARY HISTORY MAGZ? artic in the early 1990's had a beautiful quarter or half-page COLOR COMBAT ART of Rose standing inside his cockpit trying to wipe off the oil with a German fighter plane right on his butt.

Iff true, you just know the German was wondering "WTF" when he saw Rose's scene.
