#3 There's one columnist (whose name I forget) at the LA Times who handles all the 'race issues'. She did up an article yesterday.

Her basic gist: Gates was probably a jerk, but the Cambridge police were worse jerks 'cause they weren't deferential enough, history of cops and blacks, etc.

The LAPD, she allowed (paraphrased) 'at least know their place' during traffic stops.
