#1 I have a European cousin who is an EU official. He told me that he would be perfectly happy to see his country become a Muslim culture through demographic trends, since that sort of thing has happened many times in history, and there is not much anyone can do about it. After that I realized how deeply entrenched the Dhimmi attitude is. "Anything is better than war" is the philosophy that these people have. This same philosophy appears to be at work in the US among the left as well, perhaps reinforced by the illusion that we are still relatively safe here.

#2 The last sentence sums it up. In amoungst the blizzard of criticism of the Iraq war no one is proposing alternative courses of action except to hand it over to the UN, which is no solution at all. So people rationalize it away as 'there is no problem'. Things are going to get a lot worse.
