#1 Does this college paper have an editor? A faculty advisor?
How did this piece of crap get published? I read the chickenshit editorial written the day after Rene's article came out...blah, blah, blah first amendment, wankwankwank....Saying it was a dissent article that deserved to be printed. Well I call BULLSHIT on that! It was a personal attack on a brave and beloved man and anyone not locked in an echo chamber/ivory tower would know that!

#4 I have said for quite a while now that the time might come when a single spark could set off mass violence from the LLL.
Originally, I thought this might come after the election this fall but now I think it could happen any day.
Consider:
1. The LLL's (mis)perception of a great success by its insurgent allies in Iraq will get the moonbat element's blood up, detach them further from reality, and further legitimize the resort to violence among fringe elements.
2. The extreme left's rejection of Kerry, even before the Dem Convention, signifies an early start on de-legitimizing the election.
3. The astounding hypocrisy of the LLL's orgiastic howling over the Baghdad prison photos, compared to their daily apologetics for much worse atrocities by their side, means that they have finally abandoned even the pretense of credibility, reason, or decency.

Our friend Rene is a good example of a lightning rod for such a spark.

#6 Good point AC! Might want to exercise your 2nd amendment before November 2 and be prepared. My compound will be sandbagged and ready for action. Course I live in a conservative enclave deep in enemy territory (Kalifornia). If I passed young Rene on the street I would want to express my view to him and his article. Debbie good point about the Faculty/Administration, where is the oversight? Truth, sad that it is, they think the same thing but they would be canned if they wrote it. I for one have had enough of these ‘patriotic’ citizens that support our enemies. I think the left is going to lose BIG this next election and they are going to co crazy afterwards. Think SLA/Black Panthers/Red Brigade etc crazy like back in the sixties.

#7 Thanks, Sarge.
I continue to rely upon the Works of Comrade Kalashnikov as a final rebuttal to the counter-revolutionary excesses of the Stalin-Chomsky faction.
I think the big showdown will come sooner, quite probably about the time of the Dem Convention.

In fact, I will go out on a limb and call it here: Civil War 2 early in July, defined as 100 or more people killed in a single week in a sequence of events involving at least 4 of the following:
1. Terrorist attacks by American jihad sympathizers.
2. Violence instigated by participants in one or more anti-war demonstrations.
3. Reprisals by anti-terrorist vigilantes.
4. Self-defense by armed citizens against violent mobs.
5. Mob violence against military installations
6. Breakdown of civil authority for 12 hours or more in at least one major urban area.
7. At least one incident of a dead body being dragged through the streets.

#8 CyberSarge, Roger That! I excercise my 2nd ammendment right quite frequently. I just received my new .50 Beuwolf upper receiver this week and took it to the range yesterday. This sucker barks fire and death and is very accurate as well. It kicks like a mule, but you don't get much muzzle rise.

Here's the URL for the full .50 Beowulf Overwatch model. A bargain at $1300.

#10 AC and Sarge...I pray you are wrong. What's a good first fiream purchase for a women who's only gun experience is a steady diet of NYPD Blue and Ed McBain novels...My feeling has always been that while I strongly support second amendment rights, I personally am too soft and too middleclass to not be a danger to self and others with a gun. There will always be someone bigger, meaner and with a hell of alot more to lose than I do, who could turn my own weapon on me, or so I have thought, but have been rethinking this. Women I know have said after training and practice at a firing range, confidence is built, so, who knows.

#11 If you don't mind the comment of someone who isn't AC or Sarge ... figure whether you want a full-sized or a "snubbie", home or carry ...

#12 Hey Girl, You need a shot gun. All you have to do is cock it, and the bad people will run like dogs on linoleum. And God forbid if you ever did have to pull the trigger, you'd be the one who'd live to tell about it.

#14 Debbie,
Visit the local shooting ranges and gun stores and find out about the classes that are offered. On your own, learn as much as you can about the basic technology of guns, the terminology, the different calibers, types of action, etc. Also learn a little bit about the ballistic process itself, that is, how bullets behave and what factors determine things like power, accuracy, and recoil.
Many women make the mistake of believing that they have to have a relatively small gun. At one time, there were petit "lady's guns" (sometimes with pink hand-grips for pity's sake) and some of this mythology persists to this day. The problem is that a lightweight gun has more recoil (it will kick harder) than a heavier one firing the same ammunition.
It pays to have the biggest gun you can comfortably handle and the most powerful you can comfortably shoot (these are not the same thing).
With some practice, you would be surprised at just how high these limits can get.
You do not have to lose than a violent assailant, and he cannot turn your weapon on you if you shoot him first.
A good class will cover things like the psychology the legal aspects of using a lethal weapon for self-defense. It will also cover the vital area of shoot/don't shoot decisions. It will also have some practical instruction but I cannot emphasize strongly enough that regular individual practice is essential.
