US border patrol agents being transferred to CANADA after increase in migrants trying to cross into Vermont, New Hampshire and New York
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Crossings are up nearly 850% along northern border

  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection transferred 25 extra agents from south

  • Migrants crossing heavily wooded area on dirt paths in freezing snow
It is a problem that works both ways - some migrants are actually sneaking into Canada from the U.S., causing a spike in immigration numbers for America's neighbor to the north. Leaders there are demanding to speak to President Joe Biden about the problem.

Afghanistan
EU Sanctions Two Islamic Emirate Acting Ministers
[ToloNews] The European Council announced on Tuesday it has sanctioned nine individuals and three entities under its Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime, including two acting ministers from Afghanistan.

According to the EU Council, two acting "Taliban
...Arabic for students...
" ministers-- for Higher Education, Neda Mohammad Nadim and for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, Mohammad Khalid Hanafi--who are "behind the decrees banning women from higher education and gender-segregated practices in public spaces," are among the nine sanctioned individuals.

"The listed individuals and entities will now be subject to an asset freeze in the EU. In addition, listed individuals will be subject to a travel ban to the EU. Moreover, persons and entities in the EU will be prohibited from making funds available, either directly or indirectly, to those listed," the EU said in a statement.

The decision announced by the Ministry of Higher Education last year to ban female students from going to universities has faced strong reactions from the international community.

Meanwhile,
...back at the saloon, Butch got the bill for the damage caused by the fist fight, the mirror broken in the shootout, and drinks for everyone......
speaking at a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Nadim said that the closure of the universities is not permanent.

"There is a certain issue that all the media is focusing on. That is the issue of female education. In this regard, since the start, there has been no word about a ban but it was a temporary decision," he said.

Without naming a particular side, Nadim said that there are individuals who "don’t consider the situation and condition of Afghanistan, but rather focus on their wishes and recommendations—about why the (universities) have been closed-- and this harms the mindset of the people."

Girls in Nangarhar Taking Up Tailoring Due to Education Ban
[ToloNews] Following the ban on female education in the country, girls in Nangarhar

province have turned to tailoring.

They urged the Islamic Emirate to reopen schools and universities to female students in the new academic year.

Maryam, a student at the School of Economics, said that she turned to tailoring to support her family when universities banned female students.

"I graduated from university, but now that women are banned from working, that's why I came here to learn sewing," Maryam said.

"They should give us an education and open our schools and universities," said Sili, a student.

Nazia is the sole breadwinner of a family with13 members. She asked the Islamic Emirate to reopen schools and universities for girls in the new academic year.

"They should help the widows and reopen schools for girls," Nazia said.

The officials of this tailoring center said that 150 students, most of whom are female students, are learning at the center.

"The clothes we gave to these women to prepare, and sell, are worth 2 lahks Afghani and this program will continue," said Abdul Raziq Hamdard, head of the tailoring center.

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout Montefiore's foot was still stuck and the hound had completely soaked his uniform with slobber...
the local officials of Nangarhar talk about efforts to reopen schools and universities for girls.

"We hope that in the future, the Islamic Emirate will take measures to provide education opportunities for our sisters," said Farhad Ahmad Stankzai, the spokesperson of Nangarhar Education Department.

Universities in the country's colder provinces reopened on the 15th of Hoot (Solar calendar) without any female students present. The new academic year will also start in all the country in two weeks, but it is unclear whether or not girls who are above sixth grade will be permitted to attend classes.

Sana'a Government Agency Condemns Saudi-led Coalition's Suspension of Exports from Yemeni Fishing Industries
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Ministry of Fisheries held on Monday the Saudi-led coalition and mercenaries fully responsible for the implications of the decision to suspend exporting fish and aquatic life, as well as the effects on fishermen and those involved in trading and selling fish products.

This was revealed at a large conference held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Sanaa, led by the Undersecretary of the Production and Marketing Services Sector, Abdulghani al-Wali, and attended by fish agents, suppliers, and merchants.

The implications and consequences of the coalition-backed government’s decision to prohibit the export of fresh fish products, as well as the negative effects on fisheries, fishermen, merchants, and suppliers in the sector, and the national economy in general were reviewed in the meeting.

The meeting also dealt with topics such as coordinating efforts between the public and private sectors to develop solutions for marketing fish products and addressing the challenges that merchants and suppliers of fish products face, as well as their proposals for expanding their activities and businesses.

Spain Announces Plan To Reduce Influx Of Africans, Other Migrants By 60%
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

While visiting the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) in Warsaw, Poland, last Friday, the minister urged the agency’s director, Hans Leijtens, to continue collaborating with the Spanish government and its African partners to drive back illegal migrants colonists.

The Spanish government has said it will cut down the influx of African migrants colonists by almost 60 per cent, according to a statement by the nation’s interior minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.

While visiting the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) in Warsaw, Poland, last Friday, the minister urged the agency’s director, Hans Leijtens, to continue collaborating with the Spanish government and its African partners to drive back illegal migrants colonists.

Grande-Marlaska boasted that their collaboration so far had yielded substantial results, noting that Spain recorded a sharp 56.9 per cent decrease in illegal migration, as opposed to the 25.6 per cent recorded in 2022.

"Spain’s experience shows that the best way to deal with this phenomenon is to work with our partners to prevent irregular flows in the countries of origin and transit, based on cooperation, based on mutual trust and sustained in time," Schengenvisainfo quoted the interior minister as saying.

He said the majority of the reductions were seen throughout the peninsula’s coasts, as well as in Ceuta, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands—all of which are sites of seaborne entry into the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
The minister claimed that since Spain, Cyprus, Greece, and Italia are frequently the first countries illegal immigrants colonists enter, their borders needed to be protected.

"External borders are not only national but European, and given the challenges we face, states of first entry must be supported politically and operationally," Grande-Marlaska said.

#4  Many of the boats are little more than hulks, barely able to make it into international waters before they start to sink. The people smugglers depend on rescuers getting there in time to pick them up — in some cases radioing the ships (NGOs and national Coast Guards) to let them know another load of humanity is headed their way. So confiscating the boats would not be effective.

Sadly, the choices are to pick them up and take them to Europe, pick them up and take them back to wherever they launched from, or let them sink.

#5  I would seize the NGO boats that are coordinating the hulk flotillas. The immigration from African is no more organic than it is from Mexico. Governments are handing money over to NGOs that are acting as a travel services including false advertising to attract migrants. There was a truck found this week with about 100 kids unaccompanied. Everyone involved in creating this situation is awash in blood and evil. Where were the kids headed? A factory? That would be the best option. Where are the parent? This has to be stopped.

Price said that, "the US Army chief does pop up around the world to visit with US service members. That’s what he did in this context."

Islamic terrorist Sayfullo Saipov deserves death for causing 'overwhelming' pain with NYC bike path attack: prosecutor

— one of each of his victims — as jurors weigh whether to execute the mass murderer.

In her closing argument, Assistant US Attorney Amanda Houle also described in excruciating detail the anguish that family members of the victims face to this day.

She highlighted previous testimony from slain New Yorker Nicholas Cleves’s mother, who had told jurors that grief was seared into her and "consumed me and never left me since."

"She’s just existing," Houle said of the mother, Monica Missio.

The prosecutor also described to jurors the moment New Jersey resident Darren Drake’s parents identified his body at the Medical Examiner’s Office the day after the Oct. 31, 2017, attack.

Drake’s father, Jimmy, "ran out of the building and onto the street because he could not bear to see what the defendant had done to his only child," Houle said.

The prosecutor noted the young children of slain Belgian tourist Ann-Laure Decadt, one of whom was just weeks old when his mother was mowed down and killed by Saipov.

India-Pakistan
KP police set up unit to probe terror financing through extortion money
[Dawn] The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police have established the Counter Terrorist Financing Unit (CTFU) to "reduce and investigate" the growing cases of extortion to finance terrorist activities.

"Extortion is taking place at a huge scale. This was a low priority area. There was confusion on who would deal with it in the first place," KP Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan told Dawn about the initiative.

A standing order issued by the Central Police Office said the volume of terror financing, extortion and transfer of money through illegal means, inland and across the borders, was higher than the number of registered cases.

It added that the cases reported to the police were just a tip of the iceberg.

The IGP said the police had created the fiscal space to get specialised equipment and gadgets and the required personnel to prop up the unit and get it going.

"I hope to see it [CTFU] up and running by the middle of next month," he said.

Data shared with Dawn revealed that the province recorded 155 cases of extortion payment in 2022 alone and that 60 extortion payers disclosed the amount to the police but a bigger number declined to do so.

According to it, the amount paid to extortionists was estimated at Rs41 million.

"The scale and amount of extortion is, of course, much bigger than we know," the police chief said.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
in a recent background briefing, a top security official put the figure at Rs1.06 billion. It is not clear how the law-enforcement agency reached that sum.

The standing order, while outlining the objectives of the CTFU was to reduce the threat of terrorist financing by ’detecting, preventing, deterring and disrupting the flow of terrorist finance.’

"I am banking on a 30 per cent success rate," Mr Khan said.

"Even if we are able to reduce it by 30 per cent, it would certainly dent the terrorists’ ability to finance their activities. Less money means less activity. It is better to do something than fighting it with meagre resources. At the moment, we are doing nothing."

The standing order said the CTFC would undertake to understand terrorist finance activity by exploiting intelligence to prevent and detect illicit activity and investigate to disrupt and deter it by holding extortionists to account.

According to it, the CTFC will also review its legislative framework and propose new laws or amendments in the existing instruments with the view to enhance legal powers of law- enforcement agencies to disrupt and pursue terrorism financing in the face of more technological and complex threats that Pakistain and its interest might face.

Currently, Pakistain has several laws dealing with terrorist financing, including the NACTA Act, Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 2947, Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010 and Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.

As part of the effort, the police chief said he was formally setting up the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Financial Intelligence Cell that would be linked with financial units to receive suspicious transaction reports, work on them, and initiate their own suspicious activity reports.

"We are going to procure highly sophisticated technology and digital systems. We need to have a technological edge over bully boyz financing their activities through extortion. If we can squeeze them, it will have an impact on the ground. Better technology and better methods will yield better results," he said.

The IGP said increasing the police’s digital footprint was high on his agenda.

"There is technology available and we are certainly going to tap into it. With better reorganised force and specialised units with better technology, I am sure we can make a much better and much bigger impact to stem the tide," he said.

New mass grave unearthed in Sinjar
ISIS did its best, but like the Nazis their best was not good enough — a sign that Allah did not approve of ISIS’ plans.
[Shafaq News] The process of uncovering mass graves in the Sinjar district, containing the remains of Yazidi victims brutally killed by ISIS Lions of Islam in 2014, is ongoing.

Nechirvan Hussein, spokesperson for the Investigation and Evidence Gathering Agency of the Kurdistan Regional Government, stated that "the Iraqi National Team, in collaboration with the agency in Kurdistan, has commenced unearthing the Hamadan cemetery situated on the outskirts of Sinjar city."

The cemetery is said to contain the remains of around 30 victims from the region. Hussein further clarified that the remains would be transported to Baghdad for forensic analysis, in order to ascertain their identities and subsequently hand them over to their families.

According to the most recent statistics from the Investigation and Evidence Gathering Agency of the Kurdistan Regional Government, there are currently 114 mass graves in the Sinjar area and its environs, with 32 graves already opened. To date, the remains of 522 victims have been recovered, with the identities of 170 of those victims identified, and their remains handed over to their families for proper burial in specially designated graves in Sinjar.

The opening of mass graves has been a slow process, with each site posing its unique challenges, while it serves as a painful reminder of the atrocities committed by ISIS terrorists.

Israel publicly blames Iran for cyberattack on major university last month
[IsraelTimes] National Cyber Directorate says it traced assault on Technion Institute to group calling itself MuddyWater, which is affiliated with Iranian government intelligence

The Israel National Cyber Directorate announced Tuesday that a group affiliated with Iranian intelligence was behind an internet attack last month on the Technion, a top Israeli research and education institute.

In a statement, the directorate said an investigation found the attack was carried out by a group known as MuddyWater, "which is affiliated with Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security."

It said the same group has been blamed for many other attacks around the world. According to the directorate, last year the US and the UK said the group was behind a series of online assaults in Asia, Africa and North America.

The directorate said the probe revealed that the attack used malware that was designed to encrypt operating systems. It has since distributed to other organizations methods to identify the attack so that they can block similar attempts, also providing additional recommendations for ways to defend themselves.

It also noted that during the Moslem month of Ramadan, set to begin at the end of March, "cyberattacks are promoted against a variety of targets in Israel with the aim of disrupting their business activities and harming their good name."

It called on organizations to up their level of protection in expectation of a bout of attacks in the coming weeks.

When the February 11 attack struck, the Technion disconnected its computer system and administrators postponed some scheduled examinations until the beginning of the coming spring semester, Ynet reported at the time. Students were also asked to disconnect their computers from the internet and to limit their use of email until an all-clear was given.

Ynet also reported that the university received an email from a group calling itself DarkBit that demanded 80 bitcoins ($1.79 million) from the Technion as a ransom for information it had obtained.

A week and a half later, the Israel Hayom newspaper cited Technion sources saying that the incident was not a ransom attack but rather a politically motivated action.

"The choice of us as a target was not accidental, and its purpose was to harm a national icon," a source said, noting that an assessment had found it was tied to Iran.

At the time of the attack, the directorate said that in 2022 it had identified 53 cyber incidents at Israeli academic institutions, most of which were blocked.

Israel and Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
have been engaged for years in a largely clandestine cyberwar that occasionally bubbles to the surface. Israeli officials accused Iran of attempting to hack Israel’s water system in 2020, while Iran has also blamed Israel for cyberattacks on the country’s infrastructure.

Aside from the attempted attack on the water system, a cyberattack last year thought to have been carried out by an Iranian group caused false rocket sirens to ring out in Jerusalem and Eilat.

In 2021, a hospital in central Israel came under a major cyberattack, and its systems remained down for several days until military officials and other experts assisted in restoring its data.

Syria, Iran accuse Israel of ‘double crime’ after jets strike Aleppo airport
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] Damascus alleges southern neighbor destroyed civilian infrastructure as well as key facility needed to import aid for victims of deadly February earthquake

Syria and Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
accused Israel of criminal behavior after Israeli Air Force jets allegedly carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
at the airport in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry decried a "double crime," saying the strike targeted both "a civilian airport... and one of the key channels for the arrival of humanitarian aid" for victims of the deadly earthquake that devastated the region in February.

Syrian Transport Ministry official Suleiman Khalil told AFP that "it is no longer possible to receive aid flights until the damage has been repaired," adding that the strike had put the runway out of service.

Iran, an ally of Syria, condemned the strike, calling it a "crime against humanity."

"While the Syrian earthquake victims in Aleppo are experiencing difficult conditions, the Zionist regime is attacking Aleppo airport," Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanani said in a statement.

According to a report in Syria’s state news agency SANA, local air defenses were activated but it was not clear if there were any interceptions. Syria regularly claims to have intercepted Israeli missiles, though military analysts doubt such assertions. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Short clips and photos allegedly from the site of the strike, circulating on social media, show a fire at the airport.

There was no comment from the Israel Defense Forces, in line with its policy of not generally commenting on air raids in Syria. Israel is believed to have carried out hundreds of strikes on targets inside government-controlled parts of Syria in recent years, including attacks on the Damascus and Aleppo airports, but it rarely acknowledges or discusses the operations.

Israel has acknowledged, however, that it targets bases of Iran-allied turban groups, such as Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...a formerly French, now an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. ...
’s Hezbollah, which has sent thousands of fighters to support Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
’s forces. Israel views Iran’s expansion throughout Syria as a continued threat to its national security, and has conducted these strikes across a broad range of targets in an effort to curb Iran’s forces in the region.

SANA, citing a military source, said early Tuesday that "the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack from the Mediterranean [Sea]... targeting the Aleppo International Airport." The source said the airport sustained "material damage," and was not currently operating.

Turkey finishes building new settlement in Syria’s Afrin following quake
Continuing to consolidate Turkey’s expansion into the Syrian borderlands that used to belong to the Kurds.
[NPAsyria] Days earlier, a local organization, in coordination with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, finished building a new settlement in Jabal al-Ahlam, south of Afrin, in northwest Syria, and granted it to IDPs from the countryside of Damascus, Homs, and Aleppo.

The construction process ended following the devastating earthquake that hit across Syria, as Jindires was the most damaged area in the country.

Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, through its ambassador to Turkey, who visited Jindires after the quake, and the head of the Qatar Red Islamic Thingy, had pledged to establish a new settlement under the name of "al-Karama" within earthquake-affected areas.

An informed source told North Press that the International Association for Development and Relief (ONSUR), Ottoman Turkish organization, has finished building a new settlement in Jabal al-Ahlam in southern Afrin, which consists of 250 residential apartments.

The source added that the residential units were handed over to the IDPs a few days ago.

It is expected that some quake-affected families would be transferred to the settlement, according to the source.

The new settlement is constructed in corporation with the Ottoman Turkish organization, Afad, accountable for building settlements in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, the source added.

North Press’ correspondent monitored, during his tour in the area, the construction of three settlements in Jabal al-Ahlam and al-Khaldiya forest, in Sharran district, south of Afrin, as each one of those settlements contain 150 to 200 apartments, mosques, schools, and centers for memorizing Holy Koran.

The number of settlements built by Turkey with the support of Gulf countries, most notably Kuwait and Qatar, and Paleostinian associations, exceeded more than 100 in Ottoman Turkish-occupied areas in northern Syria, according to North Press’ own investigations.

The projects aim at settling the Turkey-based Syrian refugees and the forces of Evil of the Ottoman Turkish-backed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), according to international reports.

In June 2022, Syrians for Truth and Justice (STJ), a human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
organization, published an extensive investigative report, in which it detailed Turkey’s demographic engineering in Afrin and its countryside.

Afrin has been under the control of Turkey and the SNA factions since 2018 following a military operation dubbed "Olive Branch" against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) under the pretext of preserving Turkey’s national security.

Gen. Aoun lashes out at those 'fabricating rumors' against army
[An Nahar] Army Commander General Joseph Aoun has fiercely lashed out at unnamed parties whom he accused of "fabricating rumors and files" against the military institution.

"As the army offers hefty sacrifices and shoulders its responsibilities with professionalism and expertise despite the challenges, some fanatics and concerned and unconcerned officials continue to fabricate rumors and files, tarnish the institution’s image and accuse us of corruption and breaking the law," Aoun said in a speech in the Bekaa.

"If breaking the law allows me to accept aid from the Lebanese who love the institution inside and outside the country and to provide medicine, food and transportation for soldiers and hospitalization and tuition aid for their families ... then I will break the law," the commander added.

"Their concern is personal interests and your concern is the country’s interest, protecting civil peace and defending your oath," Aoun told soldiers.

"We will not care about their accusations," the army chief added, stressing that the military institution "will remain bigger than their files and rumors."

He added: "May God aid an army that is fighting stupidity, expensiveness, the pandemic and the lack of modesty and loyalty."
