PAKISTAN SECURITY OPERATIONS NET SEVERAL AFGHAN REFUGEES – Pakistan’s police and military forces began detaining and interviewing Afghan refugees in and around Islamabad as early as Sunday night. It is not clear what is driving the policy but some pointed to an interaction between an Afghan living in exile in France and the former Pakistani Army Chief of Staff as a possible impetus. Regardless of the motive, the actions have been reported in F7, F10, and F17 on Tuesday and there are also indications that Afghan refugees have been stopped and harassed at road checkpoints entering Islamabad. Many unconfirmed reports suggest that arrests have been made in some of these cases and we have confirmed reports of interviews and the sequestering of travel documents for some at-risk Afghans. The situation is confusing and we are waiting on additional information.

RETIREES IN AFGHANISTAN VEXED OVER PAYMENT OF SALARIES – The recent Taliban budget has provisions for retirees in it but payment is continuing to be withheld until a review of Sharia compliance can be made by the Dar Al-Ifta. Payments of retirement benefits were suspended when the Taliban took power and the issue has instigated several protests by retirees in Afghanistan over the past 20 months. There are concerns that the Dar Al-Ifta will rule that any pensions awarded for personnel working on projects that were supported by the coalition forces may be nullified.

TALIBAN TO STRIKE SEVERAL ISIS-K HIDEOUTS IN RESPONSE TO ASSASSINATION OF BADAKHSHAN DEPUTY GOVERNOR – Note - some operations may already be underway. The Taliban are planning to initiate multiple operations targeting ISIS-K in different Provinces soon. At-risk Afghans may see increased patrolling and are encouraged to avoid any large concentrations of Taliban personnel/vehicles as these may indicate that a clash is about to commence. The operations may last for several days.

[KavkazUzel] The case of a resident of Stavropol Territory Albert Elakaev and a resident of Chechnya Alimkhan Musaev, whom investigators consider to be participants in the attack on the Botlikh district of Dagestan in 1999, has been sent to court.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2021, the investigation reported on the detention of natives of the Stavropol Territory Albert Elakaev and Alimkhan Musaev in the case of the attack by the Basaev and Khattab group on Dagestan in 1999.
On August 7, 1999, more than a thousand armed fighters from Chechnya entered the territory of Dagestan under the leadership of Shamil Basayev
...a.k.a.Shamil Basaev, Shamil Salmanovich Basayev, his kunya "Abu Idris" and Emir Abdullah Shamil Abu-Idris (1965-2006). Chechen warlord in the post-Soviet Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, linked to Al Qaeda. After his death it became the Caucasus Emirate. In 2015 most of the hard boys changed their allegiance to the local Islamic State affiliate, Vilayat Kavkaz, whereupon a majority chose to escape the Russians hunting them by making hijra to the caliphate in Syria, where those not dead yet remain. Some of his projects were the 2004 Beslan school siege and the 2002 Moscow theater hostage crisis. In 2003, the US State Department designated three Chechen groups affiliated with Shamil Basaev as terrorists, accusing them of receiving millions of dollars from Al Qaeda...
and Jordanian Amir Khattab.
Habib Abdur Rehman Khattab, a Saudi by birth, according to our archives — which does not mean he wasn’t also Jordanian as lots of families sprawl across the Arab world — was head of the International Islamic Brigade, which took part in the first Chechen war in 1994. As a teen, Khattab had fought in Afghanistan alongside Osama bin Laden, then drifted to Tajikistan, where he became a brilliant commander before moving to Chechnya to be operations commander under Basaev and was his direct connection to Bin Laden. Russian intelligence killed him in Chechnya in 2002.
Fighting continued in the republic for more than a month. Only on September 15, 1999, Russian Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev reported that the territory of Dagestan had been completely liberated, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Invasion of militants into Dagestan (1999)."
Investigations of criminal cases against "residents of the Stavropol Territory Albert Elakaev and the Chechen Republic Alimkhan Musaev" have been completed. They are accused of participating in a stable armed group (gang) and armed rebellion, as well as encroachment on the lives of servicemen, the Russian Investigative Committee said today.
According to the investigation, in August 1999, Elakaev and Musaev, "acting as part of a stable armed group under the general leadership of Shamil Basaev and Emir Khattab, took an active part in an armed rebellion" and "committed an encroachment on the lives of servicemen of the armed forces of the Russian Federation," the statement says. in today's post on the department's website.
The cases of participation in the gangs of Basayev and Khattab are of the same type and are often falsified, lawyer Narine Hayrapetyan told the "Caucasian Knot" earlier. "Witnesses are the same everywhere. Five witnesses are usually taken - three secret witnesses and two open ones," the lawyer explained. She stressed that these cases are also fabricated against the innocent, when "under threat, including torture, other people are forced to testify against them."
[AlAhram] French protests against President Emmanuel Macron's pensions overhaul began to run out of steam on Tuesday with lower numbers taking to the streets and leaders questioning the future of the movement.
Good. It’s long past time they stopped letting Antifa bully the government into fiscal impossibilities.
Hundreds of thousands of people protested across La Belle France for the 14th day of demonstrations since January to oppose the reform, with some cities seeing angry festivities, but numbers were well down on the peak of the movement.
Macron signed the legislation into law in April, raising the pension age to 64 from 62

And when a small party of violent zealots prevent the elected government from legally fulfilling the promises that were the reason for its election, then that small party should be properly prosecuted and punished for their lawbreaking, Mr. Joe. The core of these protests, as is always the case ii France, is the whim of the Communist parties and their fighting arm, Antifa.
[OneIndia] In one of the largest-ever seizures of LSD, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday busted a pan-India drugs trafficking network, operating through the dark web.
LSD or lysergic acid diethylamide is a synthetic chemical based-drug and is categorised as a hallucinogen.
Darknet refers to the deeply hidden internet platform that is used for narcotics sales, exchange of pornographic content, and other illegal activities by using the secret alleys of the onion router (ToR) to stay away from the surveillance of law enforcement agencies.
It was a huge network and was spread across Poland, Netherlands, USA, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
The development comes days after a joint operation with the Navy last month led to the confiscation of drugs worth an eye-watering Rs 25,000 crore off the coast of Kerala.
"We have arrested 6 persons in two cases and seized 15,000 bloats of LSD drug which is 2.5 thousand more than the commercial quantity. The commercial quantity of this drug is .1 gram. It's a synthetic drug and is very dangerous. It's the biggest seizure in the last 2 decades," said NCB deputy director, Gyaneshwar Singh.
"It was a huge network and was spread across Poland, Netherlands, USA, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. They used cryptocurrency and darknet. 2.5 kg marijuana, Rs 4.65 lakh and 20 lakhs deposited in bank accounts were seized," he added.
Till now, the highest seizure of LSD was 5,000 blots by the Karnataka Police in 2021 and by the Kolkata NCB in 2022 in a single operation. LSD abuse is largely prevalent among youngsters and it can lead to serious health issues, he said.
Possession of 0.1 grams of LSD, which is the commercial quantity for the hallucinogenic drug, invites strict legal action under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

[BenarNews] The Philippine military said Tuesday it had rescued the teenaged son of an Indonesian couple who blew themselves up in a 2019 suicide kaboom that killed 21 people at a Catholic cathedral in the south.
Ahmad Ibrahim Rullie, 15, was rescued nearly two years after his younger sister was recovered from Abu Sayyaf ...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder... gunnies during a military operation on the same southern island of Jolo.
The military’s Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) said it found the boy on Saturday in the town of Sumisipa after launching an operation to arrest two leaders of an Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... -linked faction of Abu Sayyaf.
Maj. Andrew Linao, a front man for Wesmincom, said the Death Eaters, Mudzrimar Sawadjaan and Pasil Bayali, escaped during the mission but left the boy behind.
The teenager was taken to a local hospital for a medical check up and would remain with the military for a "custodial debriefing," Linao said.
The military said he was the son of Indonesian couple Rullie Rian Zeke and Ulfa Handayani Saleh, who were identified as the bombers of the Jolo cathedral. The Indonesian couple killed 21 people and themselves in the twin suicide kaboom in January 2019.
Authorities believe they were indoctrinated by Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan, the former Philippine commander of the Islamic State, who criminal masterminded the attack.
The military has said that Sawadjaan might have been killed in a July 2020 clash in Jolo, but his body has not been recovered.
After his demise, he was succeeded by his nephew Mundi Sawadjaan, who went on to carry out a series of bombings.
In June 2021, the Philippine military rescued the boy’s 13-year-old sister Sitti Aisyah Rullie after a firefight with Abu Sayyaf members in the town of Patikul on Jolo.
Another sister, Rezky Fantasya Rullie, allegedly had planned a suicide kaboom but was arrested during an October 2020 raid, the military said.
Asked if Ahmad Ibrahim Rullie was being indoctrinated to be a jacket wallah, Linao said it was possible given his parents' history.
"We are going to determine that in the custodial debriefing," he said.
Westmincom commander Lt. Gen. Roy Galido praised soldiers from the 5th Scout Ranger Battalion, under the 1103rd Brigade, for rescuing the boy.
"He is still young, and we are hopeful that with proper guidance and counseling, he will be able to walk back on the right path and build a better future," said Galido.
