-Lurid Crime Tales-
Migrant posing as minor who killed father of four that took him in gets 60 years in prison
He doesn’t look intelligent enough to have done all that.
[NYPOST] A 25-year-old migrant who posed as a minor to illegally cross the border was sentenced to 60 years for killing the father of four who took him in.

Yery Noel Medina Ulloa of Honduras pleaded guilty Friday in Florida to stabbing Francisco Javier Cuellar, 46, to death in 2021 — days after the Florida man took the illegal migrant into his care.

"As we have seen time and time again, the federal government’s failure to secure our nation’s border has led to a travesty in a local community," State Attorney Melissa Nelson said in a statement.

"This time, tragically, it was our community after an illegal alien murdered an innocent man. This 60-year sentence, however, ensures Medina Ulloa will never be able to harm another law-abiding citizen."

Cops said they found Medina Ulloa was living in Cuellar’s Jacksonville home after duping border authorities into believing he was 17 years old.

The migrant had been nabbed at the southern border after travelling from Honduras, but was allowed to stay in the US after giving agents a fake name and claiming he was seven years younger than he actually was. Federal policy mandates unaccompanied minors be placed in shelters rather than be turned away.

Cuellar then took Medina Ulloa into the Florida home he shared with his four children and gave him a job at the family store, though it’s not clear why the citizen took Medina Ulloa into his home.

Somali army attacks Al-Shabaab base in Galmudug State
[ShabelleMedia] The Somali National Army [SNA] attacked a main base housing the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
bully boyz in the central Galmudug
...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth...
State, residents said.

The SNA forces targeted a camp, where al-Shabaab members have been mobilizing themselves to stage attack against the country’s military in nearby Amara town.

The ambush led to a face-to-face confrontation between the SNA and al-Shabaab fighters in the remote area with reports that both sides suffered losses but the number still unclear.

The raid was part of ongoing military operation in Galmudug and other Federal States in south and central Somalia which aims to dislodge al-Shabaab from the remaining pockets.

In mid January this year, the government forces and local clan fighters seized Harardhere and Galcad towns in Mudug region after the bully boyz fled without a fight.

Harardhere is a key coastal town and a former pirate hub. It was the biggest and most strategic town in Galmudug that was still in the hands of al-Shabaab until 2023.

SNA inflicted "heavy losses" through the current major offensive that recorded historic gains since its launch in August 2022.

In his new year’s speech, President Hassan Sheikh said this year will be a re-liberation, stabilization and state-building, a goal that faces challenges on its way to be executed.

Five killed, 3 hurt in a shooting at Mogadishu cafe
[ShabelleMedia] At least five people are dead and three others maimed in a shooting spree at a busy cafe in Mogadishu on Saturday night, witnesses said.

Unidentified assassinate believed to be from al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
opened fire randomly at people taking time at the tea shop in Daruslam Villa, North of the capital.

Some reports suggest that the button men tossed a grenade at the building before beginning the shooting of the innocent people, according to the eyewitnesses.

The dead and maimed all were civilians and police said an investigation was underway to determine the motive and who is behind.

No group grabbed credit for the shocking incident but the security officials pointed the finger of the blame at the Death Eater group who often conducts such attacks in Somalia.

Mogadishu sees increasing insecurity acts, including shootings and attacks by al-Shabaab as the army battles the faceless myrmidons in central regions.

Police faces accusations of incompetence and failure in dealing with the attacks that is threat to over three million people in Mogadishu who endured decades of conflict since 1991.

Special Forces kill senior Al-Shabaab commander in Somalia
[Garowe] An operation instigated by the Danab Special Forces with the aid of the US Africa Command left a senior al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
commander dead and several other Death Eaters, the government of Somalia reported, noting that the leader of the group has been planning operations within Jubaland.

The elite Darwish forces of Jubaland state also participated in the operation which left a total of 13 al-Shabaab Death Eaters dead, as Somalia increases the intensity in the fight against the group which is losing dominance in central and southern parts of the country following a national crackdown.

Friday's operation was activated in the Lower Jubba region where the Death Eaters are said to be in control but have since lost to Somali National Army [SNA] with a strong backing of the US Africa Command, the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] and local militia, who have been supporting the course.

Aruriyow Mohammed Omar alias Ahmed Salah within the circles of al-Shabaab has been coordinating the group's activities in Lower Jubba until he met his death at Turdho village. The death was announced by Arab Dheeg Ahmed, the commander of the 5th Brigade of the Somali National Army.

The commander, who has been coordinating activities in Lower Jubba said that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud praised the latest government forces operation but did not specify how many Death Eaters were killed. The president has been passionate about the operations.

"I congratulate the national army and Jubaland forces on their victory in Friday's operation. The federal government is stepping up its efforts in ongoing operations. The liberation operation is going well in this state, and I applaud the Jubbaland leaders and its people for working together to liberate their areas."

The operation also comes days after the United States dispatched military weapons and ammunition to Danab Special Forces as part of the cooperation with the federal government in the fight against terrorism. The US has been a major security partner of the Horn of Africa nation for decades.

State Department noted that at least $80 million is used annually on training and equipping the Danab Special Forces who are critical in the fight against al-Shabaab. The special unit, State Department added, gets a $300 token as a motivation besides being subjected to rigorous professional training.

#1  Despite Congress not having declared war in Somalia, the Biden administration has used the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) to bypass restrictions.
The open-ended nature of the 2001 AUMF has allowed multiple presidents to wage war against a number of groups, including al-Qaeda, the Taliban, al-Shabab, and Islamic State (IS).

Egypt sentences 14 people, including rights activists, to prison on terror charges
[IsraelTimes] Egypt sentences 14 people, including rights activist muppets, to prison terms ranging between five and 15 years on terrorism-related charges in a trial deplored by rights groups as unfair.

The verdicts — the latest mass sentencings in Egypt — are reported by the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, one of the country’s most prominent human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
. The suspects were arrested in 2018 as part of a wide-ranging crackdown by authorities on dissent.

Two activist muppet lawyers — Ezzat Ghoniem of the Egyptian Coordination for Rights and Freedoms and Mohammed Abu Horarira — are sentenced to 15 years in prison each. They were convicted of joining and funding a terrorist group, which is government parlance for the Moslem Brüderbund.

Gunshots ring out as protesters throw Molotov cocktails and torch a police surveillance tower and construction vehicles at 'Cop City' site in Atlanta
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Protesters at a proposed police training center in Atlanta set construction vehicles aflame and burned down a surveillance tower

  • The rioters are said to have thrown rocks, sticks and even Molotov cocktails at police on the scene of Atlanta's future Public Safety Training Facility dubbed Cop City by those who protest its development

  • The area is now under lockdown as authorities work to put out the fires
The rioters on Sunday wore black and camouflage, and masked their faces, as they made their way from their campsite at the Weelaunee Forest to the construction site, the New York Times reports.

There, they burned down police and construction vehicles and set off fireworks as police were stationed nearby.

Initial estimates suggest at least 30 people were detained, as activist groups beg online for money for the protesters' bails.

Protesters posted online how police arrived as the sun descended Sunday night and surrounded those enjoying a music festival at the site. They allegedly threatened legal observers with arrest.

Photos and videos from the scene showed police forcing people to the ground and throwing people in the back of police vans.

Controversial Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green took to Twitter in the aftermath to blame Antifa.

'This is domestic terrorism,' she wrote. 'It was planned for weeks and announced on social media.'

She added that 'Antifa are domestic terrorists, and I'm introducing my bill to officially declare them a terrorist organization on Tuesday

Also tried loading a round up with primers, but the results were too mixed. Ranging from golf ball size holes to immediate detonation on firing.

Also played with hollow points bullets drilled out a little, filled primers or mercury and capped. Again with mixed results, ranging from mini pressure cooker type explosions to just messy.

The Rantburg archives hold many answers, Mad Eye Omeretch7959. :-) According to Daniel Greenfield in How the Atlanta Riots were Funded (31.Jan 2023)

Yet the ‘Atlanta Forest Defenders’ are still raising money through Open Collective: a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fundraising platform that Front Page Magazine had previously exposed for providing fundraising for assorted ecoterrorists including the ‘Just Stop Oil’ vandals who glued themselves to ‘The Girl with the Pearl Earring’ painting.

That is despite the fact that Open Collective’s terms of service prohibit illegal activities.

The Open Collective Foundation has received funding for digital infrastructure grants from the Ford Foundation, George Soros’ Open Society and Pierre Omidyar’s Omidyar Network.

Ahmad Tahir was "assassinated" by a bomb attached to his car at his home in Kirkuk city, the Turkmen Front said in a statement.

Kirkuk police spokesperson Lt Amer Nuri told Rudaw the bomb was a "domestically manufactured" device.

Video shared on social media show a car engulfed in flames and thick, black smoke.

Kirkuk security forces are investigating the incident.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility though similar incidents have been blamed on Islamic State

The Turkmen Front is a coalition of Turkmen parties representing the Turkmen minority in both the federal and regional governments. Kirkuk is an ethnically diverse city home to Turkmen, Kurds, and Arabs.

The Turkmen Front accused "terrorists" of being behind the killing and said the dear departed, Tahir, was a "real defender of the Turkmen people and his martyrdom is a great loss for all of us."

Reports: Israeli, Lebanese soldiers clash along border
[IsraelTimes] Israeli and Lebanese soldiers are reportedly engaged in tensions along the border between the two nations amid accusations that members of the IDF breached the "Blue Line" between the countries.

A front man for UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping forces deployed along the buffer zone, tells the Lebanese news outlet L’Orient that it is "aware of tensions along the Blue Line in the area of Aita al-Shaab, where some Israeli maintenance works are ongoing" and that it its "peacekeepers are on the spot to de-escalate the situation."

Ali Shoeib, a news hound for the Hezbollah-backed Lebanese al-Manar news outlet, tweets video appearing to show Israeli and Lebanese soldiers arguing.

Soldier arrested for trying to smuggle Palestinians through West Bank checkpoint
[IsraelTimes] Serviceman of Netzah Yehuda battalion caught at Rantis Checkpoint with two Paleostinians without entry permits in his car; Military Police questioning him.

An Israeli soldier was arrested Saturday night for allegedly attempting to smuggle two Paleostinians into Israel through a West Bank checkpoint, the military said.

The soldier, of the controversial Netzah Yehuda battalion, part of the Kfir Brigade, was off duty during the incident at the Rantis Checkpoint, close to the Israeli city of Elad.

The soldier tried to pass through the checkpoint with two Paleostinian men in his car, the Israel Defense Forces said. The pair apparently did not have entry permits to Israel.

He was stopped by Military Police soldiers, who are tasked with managing the checkpoint, and was then handed over to the Military Police’s Criminal Investigations Department for questioning. His commanders also headed to the scene to be updated on the details.

Netzah Yehuda had been moved from its deployment in West Bank to the Syrian border earlier this month, for the first time.

Soldiers have in the past been accused of taking bribes in exchange for allowing Paleostinians without permits to enter Israel.

The IDF over the past year has fixed up many weak points in the West Bank security barrier, after several Paleostinian Death Eaters managed to enter Israel through gaps in the fence.

The number of Paleostinians identified illegally crossing through the barrier dropped from around 30,000 a day in March 2022, to several hundred a day since April 2022, and down further to several dozen a day in recent months, according to the IDF.

IDF: Troops targeted in drive-by shooting in West Bank; 7 terror suspects detained
[IsraelTimes] No soldiers hurt in attack near Shuweika; gunfire also heard by Israeli motorists near Beit Hagai.

Israeli soldiers came under fire from Paleostinian button men during overnight operations in the West Bank, the military said Sunday morning, adding that seven terror suspects were detained.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, troops conducting "proactive operational activity" near the village of Shuweika, close to the Paleostinian city of Tulkarem, came under fire from a passing vehicle.

The soldiers returned fire at the car as it expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, the IDF said. No troops were hurt.

Separately, the IDF said sounds of gunfire were reported by motorists on the Route 60 highway near the settlement of Beit Hagai. No injuries were caused, and troops found several shell casings in the area.

A night earlier, an Israeli man was lightly hurt after being shot by Paleostinian button men in the same area.

During arrest raids late Saturday and predawn Sunday, the IDF said troops detained seven wanted Paleostinians suspected of involvement in terror activities across the West Bank.

In the village of Yatma, troops seized an M16 assault rifle, the IDF added.

Mutual shelling occur between opposition, government forces in northwest Syria
[NPASyria] De-escalation zone in the countryside of Hama, Aleppo, and Idlib in northwestern Syria witnessed on Saturday night a renewal of mutual shelling between Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions and government forces in many positions.

Military opposition sources told North Press that the government forces positioned in Base 46 attacked, with dozens of rockets and artillery shells, the villages and towns of Kafr Nuran, Tuqad, Rehab, Kafr Taal, and Kafr Amma in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The sources added that shelling occurred in other positions in the villages and towns of al-Fatterah, Kafr Oweid , Sfuhen, Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, the outskirts of the town of Maarat al-Naasan in the east, and the town of al-Ziyarah in Ghab Plain, west of Hama.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
military sources in al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room told North Press that their factions targeted, with heavy artillery shells and rocket launchers, the positions of the government forces in the village of Basratun and Base 46 in the west of Aleppo, and al-Malaja in the south of Idlib.

In the last few days, the government forces escalated their attacks on the last pockets of the Syrian opposition in northwestern Syria.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Ottoman Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment between Syrian government forces and opposition factions accompanied by Russian warplanes’ flight despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.

In March 2020, Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

(ISIS) claimed on Sunday responsibility for an attack against a checkpoint of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town in eastern Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, a day earlier.

ISIS-run Amaq news agency published a statement saying the group’s button men targeted with machine guns an SDF checkpoint near the entrance of al-Shuhail town in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside.

The statement added that the assault killed an SDF fighter and injured another, and that the group’s button men returned safe to their hideouts.

On Thursday, ISIS grabbed credit for a similar attack at the town of al-Sabha
...After the Libyan Civil War, Sabha grew in importance as a slave auctioning town. However, an investigation by the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) revealed that while there was illegal slavery, reports were exaggerated, as slave auctions were rare and not made public. The city was later seized by forces loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA) and its leader Khalifa Haftar in January 2019, probably for its collection of MiG-25 aircraft....
in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside, killing an SDF fighter as a result.
An SDF source told North Press, “Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire using machine guns on an SDF checkpoint near the al-Attal roundabout near the entrance of al-Shuhail town, east of Deir ez-Zor.”

“The attack injured Ibrahim al-Khalaf, who was taken to al-Omar military hospital to receive treatment. He is in a critical condition,” the source said citing a doctor at the hospital.

ISIS Landmines kill government soldier, civilian in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

[NPASyria] On Friday, a soldier of the Syrian government forces and a civilian lost their lives in explosion of two landmines, most likely left by Islamic State (ISIS), in the southern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

A military source of the government forces in Deir ez-Zor said Youssef al-Badran, a member of the 17th Division of the government forces, was killed in a landmine explosion of ISIS remnants while he was travelling around in Sholah Desert in the southern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Crisis over suspected Iran schoolgirl poisonings escalates
[An Nahar] A crisis over suspected poisonings targeting Iranian schoolgirls escalated Sunday as authorities acknowledged over 50 schools were struck in a wave of possible cases. The poisonings have spread further fear among parents as Tehran has faced months of unrest.

It remains unclear who or what is responsible since the alleged poisonings began in November in the Shiite holy city of Qom. Reports now suggest schools across 21 of Iran's 30 provinces have seen suspected cases, with girls' schools the site of nearly all the incidents.

The attacks have raised fears that other girls could be poisoned apparently just for going to school. Education for girls has never been challenged in the over 40 years since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
has been calling on the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
in neighboring Afghanistan to have girls and women return to school.

Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi on Saturday said without elaborating that Sherlocks had recovered "suspicious samples" in the course of their investigations into the incidents, according to the state-run IRNA news agency. He called for calm among the public, while also accusing the "enemy's media terrorism" of inciting more panic over the alleged poisonings.

However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
it wasn't until the poisonings received international media attention that hard-line President Ebrahim Raisi announced an investigation into the incidents on Wednesday.

Vahidi said at least 52 schools had been affected by suspected poisonings. Iranian media reports have put the number of schools at over 60. At least one boy's school reportedly has been affected.

Videos of upset parents and schoolgirls in emergency rooms with IVs in their arms have flooded social media. Making sense of the crisis remains challenging, given that nearly 100 journalists have been detained by Iran since the start of protests in September over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. She were tossed into the calaboose by the country's morality police and later died.

The security force crackdown on those protests has seen at least 530 people killed and 19,700 others detained, according to Human Rights Activists in Iran.

Attacks on women have happened in the past in Iran, most recently with a wave of acid attacks in 2014 around Isfahan, at the time believed to have been carried out by hard-liners targeting women for how they dressed.

Speculation in Iran's tightly controlled state media has focused on the possibility of exile groups or foreign powers being behind the poisonings. That was also repeatedly alleged during the recent protests without evidence. In recent days, Germany's foreign minister, a White House official and others have called on Iran to do more to protect schoolgirls — a concern Iran's Foreign Ministry has dismissed
...Tut tut, my good man!...
as "crocodile tears."
Rudaw adds:
Iranian activist muppets reported gas attacks in at least ten schools across the country on Sunday morning, a day after around three dozen schools were subjected to the similar attacks.
