[Redstate] The Air Force and the command structure at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, are backpedaling to distance themselves from a message distributed on the installation that labeled Turning Point Action an "alt-right" organization (without explaining what that was) and cautioned airmen that attending the conservative political rally could result in them being forced to leave the Air Force.
HOW IT STARTED
Tuesday, RedState reported on a message circulating on Minot AFB. Minot AFB is the only airbase to host both strategic bombers and ICBMs. The 5th Bomb Wing operates 26 B-52 aircraft, and the 91st Missile Wing operates 150 ICBM sites. The message on a popular, non-official Facebook page purported to synopsize an official base leadership message. See Yikes: Air Force Base Warns Service Members Against Participating With Conservative Group.
The message's subject was the November 17 Dakota Patriot Rally in Minot. The rally was locally organized, and a senior member of Turning Point Action, a political advocacy group, was the headlining speaker.
Turning Point Action was characterized as an "alt-right organization." Airmen were told that the crowd attached might be confrontational with Air Force personnel (makes you wonder about the IQ of the person who posted it). And they were warned, "that participation with groups such as Turning Point Action could jeopardize their continued service in the U.S. military."
When I was in (78-98), Minot was considered damn near a punitive tour. Orders there were considered either the result of pissing someone off or Karmic revenge.
But.
Strategic Air Command - executed, dismembered, and buried in the early 90s reorganization of the USAF - did absolutely everything in its power to make sure people were taken care of. As bad as it was - and it could be very bad - misbehavior was only slightly higher than the SAC average, and suicide was almost unheard of. In turn, 5BW at least was considered a tough, capable unit by SAC standards, and that was indeed a compliment.
Global Strike Command - the current owner of the missiles and bombers - is considered a backwater where nobody gets promoted and everybody is forgotten, and HQUSAF hasn't done a damned thing to change that. GSC sure as hell isn't trying, as its leadership is too busy counting the calendar days until they get back to the real Air Force, and whatever issues they're dealing with is somebody else's problem.
But yeah, 5BW. Threaten someone's careers over their political beliefs. That'll do it.
Relieve them and march them out the front goddamned gate. That is the ONLY way this will stop.

It’s stories like this that make me glad the AF recruiter office in Kalamazoo was closed for lunch the day i went downtown to enlist. I was ready to join that organization; AO1 John Hogan asked if he could help…….explaining to Parental Units and future Spouse about change in plans was a bit difficult……
Turned out ok
[NYPOST] A North Carolina Democratic progressive caucus leader has come under fire for declaring that allowing a Jewish caucus would "end" the party because "they control everything."
If true, my dear idiot, it would be wise for you to sit down and shut up, lest something undesirable happen to you. But they never do, which proves they don’t really believe a word they’re saying — they’re just being hateful for the sheer joy of it.
I dunno. It sounds kinda cool to me. If I converted, what would the Learned Elders put me in charge of?
If I were God, Fred, I’d put you in charge of Rantburg.
Ryan Jenkins, who is president of the state party’s progressive arm, took aim at the North Carolina Democratic Jewish Caucus after Democrats voted last week against recognizing the group as an affiliated organization, WFAE reported.
Betcha there are recognized groups for African-Americans, Hispanics, and LBTQ+, but only if they don’t identify as Jewish.
"If the Democratic Party ...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects... caves to it, that’s the end of the Democratic Party. We’re not Democrats, we’re the Jewish Caucus. We’re a Zionist group. Because they control everything," he told the outlet Friday regarding the vote.
Since the vote, Jenkins claimed members of the Jewish caucus — whom he described as "rich white people" — had been attacking Democrats who had abstained. Seventeen Dems voted no, while there were 16 yes votes and 17 abstentions or no-shows.
"(If we approve the caucus) we’re telling them very clearly they are allowed to threaten and bully us and they will get their way every single time and that our rules don’t apply," Jenkins said.

My thought is, I don't care who's in control as long as they're doing a good job, and I can live my life in relative comfort.
People have the illusion of they themselves, or someone else, being "in control". Fact is, no one is in control.

My experience is, anytime I stop for gas in NC, it's openly on display why their politicians are such disappointments to the rest of us.

Chapel Hill and Charlotte are doing their best to wreck North Carolina. They both have a bad case of the San-Francisco-wannabes.
Which, since Charlotte is right on the state line, we escaped to South Carolina several years ago. Where they can't get us.
