U.S. Senator Reid, son combine for China firm's desert plant
31 August 2012 Rooters article
U.S. Senator Harry Reid recognized nine years ago that connections between his official duties and the lobbying activities of his relatives could lead to ethical questions.

In 2003, the Nevada Democrat publicly banned relatives from lobbying him or his staff after newspaper reports showed that Nevada industries and institutions routinely turned to Reid's sons or son-in-law for representation.

Now, questions surrounding family ties are flaring again in Nevada around the Senate majority leader. He and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert.
An old piece, and nothing here that mentions the Bundy Ranch.

#2  Harry Reid, Jon Corzine and other cronies that got away in 2012

[Fox News, 12 Dec 2012] For Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.), politics is a family business. And when it comes to doling out the federal goodies to favored friends, few can compete with the Nevada senator. Sen. Reid has sponsored at least $47 million in earmarks that directly benefitted organizations that one of his sons, Key Reid, [RW1] either lobbies for or is affiliated with.

Recently, another of Sen. Reid’s sons, Rory Reid, helped Chinese energy giant ENN Energy Group make headway on its plan to build a $5 billion solar panel plant on a 9,000 acre plot in Nevada. And according to Reuters, this year Sen. Reid attempted to “pressure Nevada’s largest power company, NV Energy, to sign up as ENN’s first customer.”

Not surprisingly, both father and son deny that they are working in tandem to further the family interests. “I have never discussed the project with my father or his staff,” says Rory Reid. Likewise, Sen. Reid’s spokesperson says he never talks to his son about the $5 billion deal he’s working on for his Chinese client.

#5  Cliven Bundy’s problem isn’t that he didn’t pay — he did — or that his cattle bother tortoises — they don’t — it’s that he’s not a Reid donor.

That's the crux of Bundy's problem. The Chicago Way has been exported to Nevada via Reid--or maybe Reid just came up with "Corruption Central" all by himself although he doesn't seem smart enough. Bundy didn't pay protection to the Washington mob.

#6  "I have never discussed the project with my father or his staff," said Rory Reid. Kristen Orthman, a spokeswoman for the senator, said he had not discussed the project with his son.

Dingy Harry Behind Ranch Rakeover
The Bureau of Land Management, whose director was Sen. Harry Reid's (D-Nev.Senator for Life) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy's cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.

Deleted from BLM.gov but reposted for posterity by the Free Republic, the BLM document entitled "Cattle Trespass Impacts" directly states that Bundy's cattle "impacts" solar development, more specifically the construction of "utility-scale solar power generation facilities" on "public lands."

"Non-Governmental Organizations have expressed concern that the regional mitigation strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone utilizes Gold Butte as the location for offsite mitigation for impacts from solar development, and that those restoration activities are not durable with the presence of trespass cattle," the document states.

Back in 2012, the New American reported that Harry Reid's son, Rory Reid, was the chief representative for a Chinese energy firm planning to build a $5-billion solar plant on public land in Laughlin, Nevada.

And journalist Marcus Stern with Reuters also reported that Sen. Reid was heavily involved in the deal as well.

"[Reid] and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert," he wrote. "Reid has been one of the project's most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on behalf of the project in Nevada."
No comment necessary. I suspected something like this.

#4  Justice Depart blocks FBI corruption investigation of Senators Reid and Lee.

[Washington Times] FBI agents working alongside Utah state prosecutors in a wide-ranging corruption investigation have uncovered accusations of wrongdoing by two of the U.S. Senate’s most prominent figures — Majority Leader Harry Reid and rising Republican Sen. Mike Lee — but the Justice Department has thwarted their bid to launch a full federal investigation.

#11  No fly zone was enforced after Bundy flew over the Butte and found the Reid hardboyz camp. He told reporters about what he saw. So much for transparency.

The head of the BLM was a senior adviser to Reid.

As soon as the story broke yesterday I called the DC office of Harry Reid and the guy who answered the phone yelled "NOT TRUE!" and hung up immediately.

Called the Washington DC BLM office yesterday and the recording stated they were no longer accepting calls.

Called the Nevada BLM office yesterday and immediately she transfered me to a voice mail box as soon as she realized I was inquiring about the Reid/Chinese/BLM stooge connection.

More information about Rory Reid and the stooge that runs BLM would be nice to have.

Government
Jimmy Carter takes a swipe at US foreign policy
[Iran Press TV] Former US President Jimmy Carter
... the worst president ever. Maybe the second worst. The votes aren't all in yet...
took a swipe at recent US foreign policy in an interview with Time.

Carter had some chiding words for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Henry L. Stimson ...
and US President Barack Obama
I am not a dictator!...
for not taking a more proactive role in trying to bring peace in the Middle East.

"I know from experience that the best way to have the United States be a mediator is for the President himself to be deeply involved. In this occasion, when Secretary Clinton was Secretary of State, she took very little action to bring about peace. It was only John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
's coming into office that re-initiated all these very important and crucial issues."

This is not the first time Carter has been outspoken against Obama's foreign policy. He has slammed the president in previous remarks about the increased use of drones in the Middle East and NSA surveillance of foreign leaders.

He didn't save all of his criticism for the B.O. regime but criticized US foreign policy as a whole, saying that the United States has become the "number one warmonger on Earth."

"You can look at the record: ever since the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
was formed after the Second World War, the United States has almost constantly been at war somewhere. There are about 30 countries where we have initiated armed conflict."

He gave some praise for Kerry, saying that his efforts were "notable" as he leads Iranian nuclear talks and tries to mediate Israeli-Paleostinian peace negotiations.

Carter said he had some insight into the current Russian situation in Crimea as he had faced something similar during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Carter warned then Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev that he would unleash every weapon the US had at its disposal if he went any further with military action. The USSR's military thrust stagnated in Afghanistan and Carter did not have to follow through on his threat but he did admit the US provided weapons to the Afghan freedom fighters.
