[Iran Press TV] Florida Democrat Congressman Alcee Hastings is under review by an ethics investigation over sexual harassment charges made by a female former member of his staff.
The probe comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed by Winsome Packer,

a former staffer on the US Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, which was chaired by Hastings, The Huffington Post reported.
Packer filed a lawsuit in US District Court in Washington against Hastings in March, claiming that she received "unwelcome sexual advances, crude sexual comments and unwelcome touching" by the Congressman between 2008 and 2010.
The lawsuit also says she faced retaliation by Hastings and his staff director, Fred Turner, when she tried to report the behavior.
According to Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, which is representing Packer, the plaintiff has met with Sherlocks from the Office of Congressional Ethics about her sexual harassment claim.
Fitton was quoted by the News Agency that Dare Not be Named as saying that Packer "is fully cooperating with Sherlocks."
Meanwhile, ...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout the long-awaited message arrived. They quickly got to work with their decoder rings... Hastings has vehemently denied the charges, calling them "ludicrous" and "bizarre."
"I have never sexually harassed anyone. In fact, I am insulted that these ludicrous allegations are being made against me," he said. "I will win this lawsuit. That is a certainty. In a race with a lie, the truth always wins. And when the truth comes to light and the personal agendas of my accusers are exposed, I will be vindicated."
News of the investigation comes a week after US Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-NY, announced his resignation from Congress, bowing to the furor caused by his sexually-charged online dalliances with a former porn actress and other women.

Alcee Hastings being investigated for an ethics violation? Damn boyz, that's dawg bites man and so very post-disco.
n 1981, Hastings was charged with accepting a $150,000 bribe in exchange for a lenient sentence and a return of seized assets for 21 counts of racketeering by Frank and Thomas Romano, and of perjury in his testimony about the case. He was acquitted by a jury after his alleged co-conspirator, William Borders, refused to testify in court (resulting in a jail sentence for Borders).
In 1988, the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives took up the case, and Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury by a vote of 413-3. He was then convicted in 1989 by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be removed from office by the Senate. The vote on the first article was 69 for and 26 opposed, providing two votes more than the two-thirds of those present that were needed to convict. The first article accused the judge of conspiracy. Conviction on any single article was enough to remove the judge from office. The Senate vote cut across party lines, with Senator Patrick J. Leahy, Democrat of Vermont, voting to convict his fellow party member, and Senator Arlen Specter, Republican of Pennsylvania, voting to acquit.[1]
The Senate had the option to forbid Hastings from ever seeking federal office again, but did not do so. Alleged co-conspirator, attorney William Borders went to jail again for refusing to testify in the impeachment proceedings, but was later given a full pardon by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office.[2]
And yes, Winsome Packer is obviously FredMan working the levers of weird.

I don't get it. Obama is supposedly a master of speechifying. A ceremony like this may have little personal value to him, but it is a public relations event. You would expect even a lowly county commissioner to have enough PR savvy to make an effort to get the names right.

IMHO, General Petraeus is trying to protect the country and his troops while the O virus works its way through the country. It is a holding action, but this is what can be done with the resources that he has in his kit at this time.
Resigning will not make things better, so he is toughing it out.
As far as O goes with TOTUS, it is a GIGO situation. His speechwriters do not or are unwilling to do the research to get the facts right. O does not know, so his speechwriters are contributing to the debacle that is his administration by their ignorance or lack of caring.

AP I like your thoughts on this subject. Something good may yet develop. General Petraeus is one of our best he was a“distinguished cadet” from the United States Military Academy in 1974.
A small tax-exempt political group with ties to wealthy liberals like billionaire financier George Soros has quietly helped elect 11 reform-minded progressive Democrats as secretaries of state to oversee the election process in battleground states and keep Republican "political operatives from deciding who can vote and how those votes are counted."
That's nice. In Texas a Tea Party-connected group demonstrated how volunteers can present an unavoidable case for removing illegal registrations from the voter rolls. In those eleven states do that, and the problem will be reduced, if not resolved... or at least the bright sunshine of exposure will help remove the wrong kind of people from office as soon as possible.
Known as the Secretary of State Project (SOSP), the organization was formed by liberal activists in 2006 to put Democrats in charge of state election offices, where key decisions often are made in close races on which ballots are counted and which are not.
The group's website said it wants to stop Republicans from "manipulating" election results.
"Any serious commitment to wresting control of the country from the Republican Party must include removing their political operatives from deciding who can vote and whose votes will count," the group said on its website, accusing some Republican secretaries of state of making "partisan decisions."
SOSP has sought donations by describing the contributions as a "modest political investment" to elect "clean candidates" to the secretary of state posts.
Named after Section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code, so-called 527 political groups -- such as SOSP -- have no upper limit on contributions and no restrictions on who may contribute in seeking to influence the selection, nomination, election, appointment or defeat of candidates to federal, state or local public office. They generally are not regulated by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), creating a soft-money loophole.
While FEC regulations limit individual donations to a maximum of $2,500 per candidate and $5,000 to a PAC, a number of 527 groups have poured tens of millions of unregulated dollars into various political efforts.
SOSP has backed 11 winning candidates in 18 races, including such key states as Ohio, Nevada, Iowa, New Mexico and Minnesota.
"Supporting secretary of state candidates with integrity is one of the most cost-efficient ways progressives can ensure they have a fair chance of winning elections," SOSP said on its website, adding that "a relatively small influx of money -- often as little as $30,000 to $50,000 -- can change the outcome of a race."
SOSP was formed in the wake of the ballot-counting confusion in Florida during the 2000 presidential election and a repeat of that chaos in Ohio in the 2004 presidential election. Democrats accused Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris and Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, both Republicans, of manipulating the elections in favor of GOP candidates -- charges Mrs. Harris and Mr. Blackwell denied.
"Does anyone doubt that these two secretaries of state ... made damaging partisan decisions about purging voter rolls, registration of new voters, voting machine security, the location of precincts, the allocation of voting machines, and dozens of other critical matters?" SOSP asked on its website.
SOSP said it raised more than $500,000 in 2006 to help elect five Democratic secretaries of states in seven races.
