-Short Attention Span Theater-
James E. Hansen Rails Against Democracy And America, Praises Chinese Dictatorship
The nation's most prominent publicly funded climatologist is officially angry about democracy interfering with the anti-man made global warming agenda, and is citing the Chinese government as the "best hope" to save the world from global warming. He also wants an economic boycott of the U.S. sufficient to bend us to China's will.

Goddard Institute of Space Studies, NASA laboratory head James E. Hansen's anti-democracy rants were published while he was on a November junket in China, but they didn't get much attention until recently.

According to Mr. Hansen, compared to China, we are "the barbarians" with a "fossil-money-'democracy' that now rules the roost," making it impossible to legislate effectively on climate change. Unlike us, the Chinese are enlightened, unfettered by democracy.

Here's what he blogged on Nov. 24:

"I have the impression that Chinese leadership takes a long view, perhaps because of the long history of their culture, in contrast to the West with its short election cycles. At the same time, China has the capacity to implement policy decisions rapidly. The leaders seem to seek the best technical information and do not brand as a hoax that which is inconvenient."

Mr. Hansen has another idea to circumvent our democracy. Because Congress is not likely to pass any legislation making carbon-based energy prohibitively expensive, he proposed, in the South China Morning Post, that China lead a boycott of our economy:

"After agreement with other nations, e.g., the European Union, China and these nations could impose rising internal carbon fees. Existing rules of the World Trade Organization would allow collection of a rising border duty on products from all nations that do not have an equivalent internal carbon fee or tax.

"The United States then would be forced to make a choice. It could either address its fossil-fuel addiction ... or ... accept continual descent into second-rate and third-rate economic well-being."

The WTO, in fact, has not "ruled" that it can impose environmental tariffs of any kind, much less those of such magnitude that they would destroy the world's largest economy.
Even Obama should consider firing this embarrassment, as his arrogance has been much to blame for the collapse of the anti-global warming agenda. As long as he remains at GISS, Al Gore can pound sand.

#1  Are these the same Chinese who are building coal-fired power plants at the rate of (if memory serves) one a week?

#2  That's a gross exaggeration. I heard it was one every two weeks.

#3  And the same Chinese who are polluting their soil and water so badly it is killing millions of peasants?

And the same Chinese that are thumbing their noses at any CO2 efforts made within their borders?

And the same Chinese who allow such shoddy and hazardous manufacturing they are poisoning and killing their customers?

And the same Chinese who are opening more coal mines to produce more power?

And the same Chinese that are buying large amounts of natural gas from Australia?

Seriously, Mr. Hansen, stop the bullshit. You are either for the US being taken over completely by the Chinese and turned into a dictatorship, or you are a complete moron who's stupidity is a danger to yourself and others. Either way, you are in dire need of execution for treason.

#4  Hansen is a spoiled brat lefty politician masquerading as a scientist. Fire his ass and put him on a one-way trip to China.

#5  ...it appears that he has just violated his oath as a federal employee.

Federal Employee Oath: I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

#1  She's really giving a speech on the house floor in a t-shirt? Really? There was a day when the Congress wore suits and showed their own office some respect. No wonder the population at large doesn't respect them.

Lieberman to Retire
That’s what Connecticut politico Kevin Rennie is reporting:

United States Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) is expected to announce Wednesday that he will not seek a 5th term in 2012, Daily Ructions has learned. Lieberman has invited supporters to an event at the Marriott hotel in Stamford Wednesday afternoon for his announcement.

Cook has Lieberman’s seat as “Lead D” in 2012.

UPDATE: Former Connecticut secretary of state Susan Bysiewicz has already announced she’ll vie for the Democratic nomination for Lieberman’s seat. Her internal polling purportedly shows her ahead of much of the probable field, including Linda McMahon

#1  Buh-bye, Joe. Won't miss you a bit. Some people call you independent. Others say moderate. I remember your vote on ObamaCare. I remember how you stood with Al Gore. Good riddance.

#2  Joe has been one of the very few politicians I trusted. He told you what he was going to do, and then he did it. And he was way out there on the Right fringe on national defense, especially for a northeastern Democrat. You may not like him, but I guarantee his successor will be worse (even if he/she is a Republican.)

Sen. Kent Conrad (D) to retire
Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) announced his retirement today, leaving his seat up for grabs in 2012. Unlike Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s retirement announcement last week, Conrad’s announcement sets up a strong possibility of a flip from D to R. Republicans crushed Democrats in the state’s 2010 elections.

#1  Of course, the first thing I thought of is that he is planning a challenge to Obama during the 2012 primaries.
Posted by: DarthVader || 01/18/2011 13:08 Comments || Top||

#2  his state went red big-time in 2010. He doesn't want to be giving a humiliating concession speech Nov 2012
Posted by: Frank G || 01/18/2011 18:48 Comments || Top||

#3  There will probably be more senate retirements announced soon. 2012 is by chance set to be a very hard year for senate Dems, because most of them are running in weak seats, and the few Republicans are from strong seats, unless they are RINOs, like Hutchinson, who the Tea Party had already targeted.

One of the big targets is I believe, one of the Maine RINO women who is running.

CAMDEN, N.J. lays off half of police force and 1/4 of the firefighters

Apee so summery:

One of the most debt ridden and crime filled cities is laying off half the police and 1/4 of the firefighters.

Politicians claiming there is no other way with taxes.

Usual suspects in the race hustlers field whining about poor and minorities hardest hit.

No mention if the union bosses, public pension funds or art school budgets are touched but I would bet hard money they are not, or at least in not a significant way.

#1  Simple attempt to try to blackmail Gov Christie into bailing the city out.

#2  One of the most debt ridden and crime filled cities is laying off half the police and 1/4 of the firefighters.

Probably clearing out a lot of paychecks to police and firefighters that didn't exist before they got looked at too hard.

#3  As we all know, there is no where else in the NJ budget to cut.

You are right, it is about blackmailing the GOV.

#4  Christie won't bail them out. He CAN mobilize the National Guard though, if need be.
