How an "honors inmate" working at Gov. Ted Strickland's residence in Bexley was able to obtain enough alcohol to record a blood-alcohol level more than three times the level at which an Ohioan is presumed drunk and require hospital care remains a mystery. An unlocked liquor cabinet is suspected, along with a lack of supervision.
But Strickland told reporters yesterday that he hopes the decades-old program allowing inmates to work at the Governor's Residence will survive. "It was a one in a million thing--nobody coulda seen it coming."
"You don't give up on individuals," the governor said. "You certainly don't give up on rehabilitation."...
The governor suggested yesterday that Hoaja, who had been working as a cook at the Residence, might have been trying to "sabotage himself" to get kicked out of the program. "It was a cry for help."
Strickland, a former prison psychologist,... "I mean, a guy with six DUIs going after booze--I sure didn't see that one coming!"

Strickland said yesterday that the inmates had access to unsecured alcohol at the Residence. He said it isn't all kept locked away because the inmates are soon expected to be out of prison and will have access to alcohol.

Tipper Gore, who has acknowledged treatment for depression after Albert III's accident, is a vocal advocate on mental health issues.
She certainly gave it the college try. Perhaps becoming an "advocate on mental health issues" clearly enabled her to recognize the total nut case she'd been sleeping with for 40 years.

I think maybe Tip's getting out now because she sees the handwriting on the wall and realizes that their financial holdings right now is the most the Gorebot will ever have to split with her.
Or maybe she's finally willing to admit what a creep he is.

Barb, IIRC she wasn't asking for censorship, but labeling. As a parent I don't find that unreasonable.
I remember the snarling the pair of them got from hardliners: the Gores were being unfriendly to the earth because they had 4 kids.
