Man accused of being nude on ski lift
"Margaret! Don't look up!"
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. - Blame global warming. An Albany, N.Y., man is accused of riding nude in a gondola at Stratton Mountain Resort on Dec. 15. William N. Barrett III, 46, pleaded not guilty to felony lewd and lascivious conduct and misdemeanor marijuana possession Tuesday in Vermont District Court.
"And where'd the accused have his marahootchie, officer?"
"Well, yer honor, it wudn't in his pocket!"

A witness reported to lift attendants that Barrett was nude and touching himself inappropriately while riding the lift.
Of all the locations I have contemplated masturbating, 'ski lift' is not high on the list.
Barrett, who was fully clothed when he reached the bottom of the hill, denied being nude.
"Wudn't me."
He told police he had taken off his jacket and shirt because of the nice weather.
When *I* eat a York Peppermint Pattie, I feel like a cool mountain breeze is washing over my nude body as I touch myself in a ski-lift.
He also was charged with marijuana possession. Police found a glass pipe and film canister containing marijuana in his pocket when they arrested him, authorities said.
Taste the sensation...

#1  A glass pipe, while skiing? I've always made a point not to carry breakable things on the slopes; it would get decidedly uncomfortable after falling on it, since even truly expert skiers fall as spectacularly as duffers like me... just not as often.

Substitute Teacher Faces 40 Years For Having Adware-Infested Computer In Class
Have you ever faced a pop-up that wouldn't go away? You try clicking it closed and another pops up in less than a nanosecond. You reboot the system, annoyed that your anti-spyware program let something slip through. That's a hassle, sure--but chances are, your experience won't land you in jail.

Julie Amero, a substitute teacher in Norwich, Connecticut, has been convicted of impairing the morals of a child and risking injury to a minor by exposing as many as ten seventh-grade students to porn sites.

It's a short story: On October, 19, 2004, Amero was a substitute teacher for a seventh-grade language class at Kelly Middle School. A few students were crowded around a PC; some were giggling. She investigated and saw the kids looking at a barrage of graphic, hard-core pornographic pop-ups.

The prosecution contended that she had used the computer to visit porn sites. The defense said that wasn't true and argued that the machine was infested with spyware and malware, and that opening the browser caused the computer to go into an endless loop of pop-ups leading to porn sites. Amero maintains her innocence. She refused offers of a plea bargain and now faces an astounding 40 years in prison (her sentencing is on March 2).

I'll admit all my don't haves right away: I don't have access to court records; I don't have first-hand evidence of what occurred; and I haven't examined the computer's hard drive myself. What I do have is a working knowledge of spyware and plenty of experience cleaning infected PCs.

Mysterious Lights Spotted Over Phoenix Again
Hat tip: Drudge
Nearly a decade after the highly publicized ‘Phoenix Light Phenomenon’, more strange lights have appeared in the night sky over downtown Phoenix. Tuesday night, mysterious lights lit up the western skies over Phoenix and soon after, phones began ringing off the hook at radio, television and police stations from witnesses wondering what the lights were.

The Yuma Marine Base claims it has the answer. Base officials said the amber-colored flares came from training flights on the Goldwater Gunnery Range. They went on to explain that the amber flares are used as targets. Witnesses said it appeared the flares were flying in a formation and base officials explained that the flares float down to Earth attached to parachutes.

Back in March of 1997, a huge object was spotted over parts of Arizona that many witnesses believed to be an extraterrestrial spacecraft that was drifting slowly and silently over the region. The ‘Phoenix Light Phenomenon” became one of the most publicized and well-documented UFO sightings in recent history.

The Air Force said they were flares from an A-10 but many critics said flares couldn’t fly on their own over such a large distance.

The Discovery Channel has done a special on the lights. A movie has even been made about them which recently came out on DVD.

#1  Once again the government steps up with their 'we can't let the people know the truth' mentality. this time it's Marine flares. But it's the same old bullshit.

#2  I saw the video of the "Phoenix Lights" the first time it happened. Took me 5 seconds to ID them as parachute flares dropped in a string from high altitude.

#4  You saw "a video" that was alleged to be the Phoenix lights. It was actually part of a process of disinformation.

1) At first, it was all over the news, and people were going outside to look at the aircraft. One man even used his video camera to tape the thing, which hovered about 150 feet over his house for several minutes.

2) Several prominent people demanded an inquiry and were told that they were kooks and to shut up.

3) Three or four days after the event, the local TV news showed wide-angle video of the Phoenix skyline at night and claimed it was of the "Phoenix lights", even though no elevated or moving lights were shown.

4) Within a week, the Arizona Republic published an editorial damning "conspiracy theorists", etc., and claiming that no evidence existed about the lights. The Phoenix New Times also jumped on the bandwagon, and still uses derisive language against "Phoenix Lights" proponents, while advertising the professional UFO kooks.

5) Since then, other video has been provided showing several different normal flying or hovering objects, labeled as "The Phoenix Lights."

Practically speaking, Phoenix is a transit point for Army and Air Force aircraft to and from both Nevada and New Mexico, and California. There is one major North-South helicopter and low-level corridor from Phoenix to Flagstaff, generally over the Verde River (NE of Phoenix) area.

Any unusual aircraft would be transiting here, and "black helicopter" sightings were common when the Boeing helicopter plant in Mesa (E of Phoenix) was in operation.

Common sense speculation was that some advanced Groom Lake aircraft with hover capability had a bad transmission problem over Phoenix. The rather strained disavowing of the event can be just put down to overenthusiastic security officials.

#12  The best black helicopter sighting was at Arcosanti, a bizarre hippy art colony North of Phoenix. For some unexplained reason, some helicopter pilot took his attack helicopter up there and hovered about 30 feet off the ground. The irate hippy-arteests started to throw rocks at it.

This prompted the pilot to swivel his front gun at them, which did not impress the hippies, so he ended up flying away, perhaps so the imbeciles wouldn't damage his very expensive aircraft with rocks.

A friend who watched the whole thing noted with interest that there was no ID numbers on the helicopter, which he thought was a major FAA no-no.

Pipe Bombs Found During Routine Search of California Aqueduct
Three pipe bombs were found during a routine search of an aqueduct that supplies water to millions of people in Southern California, officials said. The bombs were found Tuesday next to a valve in a branch of the California Aqueduct, which carries water from the northern part of the state to the southern. It was unclear whether the devices were left there intentionally.

Had they detonated, the devices could have blown open the valve and released water, said California Highway Patrol Sgt. Fernando Contreras. A bomb unit detonated the devices in a safe area.

Also found were at least four weapons and 25 vehicles, Contreras said. The cars had probably been stolen and the guns used to commit crimes. "You can find just about anything in there," he said. "We've found safes from burglaries, soda pop machines, washing machines, all number of things."
The implication seems to be that the pipe bombs were situated to explode, but the other stuff had just been dumped in the water.

Pearblossom is in the Mojave Desert northeast of Los Angeles.

#1  This is the most frightening thing I have read lately. Water is the Achilles heel of Southern California. In San Diego, 85% of our water comes from the Colorado River. Blow up the aquaduct and it gets very dry very quickly. Quite frankly I am surprised that they have not been attacked yet.
