Healing Black trauma necessitates universal health care
[Aljazeera] I remember the sound of shattering glass breaking our complacency the day a family member pushed me through a window. As middle-graders, we were both accustomed to physical violence, fighting viciously, which often left me with bruises.

The language of the #MeToo movement helped me understand that the sexual trauma I experienced in my childhood was another form of violence. An adult in my life did not force themselves upon me, but frequently masturbated in front of me. Given my limited understanding of abusers’ motivations and mental conditions, as an 11-year-old I could only deduce that I deserved what was happening to me. I imagined that if only I were stronger, I could have stopped it all. I could have won the physical fight against my physical abuser, and I could have told the sexual abuser in my life "no, this is wrong."

Yet, in the same way a disempowered child cannot be expected to win against a powerful abuser, Black parents in the United States cannot be expected to combat the overwhelming constraints limited access to mental healthcare services places on their home life. Lack of access to these services hampers their ability to protect their children from violence in the home and society without government intervention.

In March, progressive members of the US Congress introduced a bill to create Medicare for all, a broad government-run health insurance programme. Although efforts to pass such legislation continue, congressional support for universal health care is yet to be institutionalised.

However, not implementing Medicare for all could perpetuate untreated mental conditions which correlate with the disproportionate abuse of Black children.

As a 36-year-old Black woman sociologist, I have spent the last three years learning how to integrate traumatic experiences into my life as a writer, antiracism trainer, and social justice advocate. But for most of my adult life, I did not have access to insurance that allowed me quality mental healthcare from a licensed provider. I grew up believing that my trauma was something that would be healed through churchgoing and self-help books. Given that I had no examples of trauma victims in my life that had the resources or perspective to seek out licensed help, I saw people I loved struggle to prevent their traumatic experiences from devastating their relationships and life chances.

Meaningful full-time employment often comes with health insurance.

#3  In Ohio there is an insurance by the name of CareSource for the low income. Parents and children are provided the best of care. Nearly all health care providers accept the state sponsored insurance. The recipients lack for nothing. Excellent dental care, braces, mental care, easy appointments, specialists, the works. The plan is as good as State of Ohio employees receive, better than most self employed or small company employees.
I imagine many other states have the same.
This story is bullshit. I do not believe it.

A white-out of whites: Ignoring the albino, dhimmi elephant in the room
[WND] Prior to being shot in the head this week by four brothers in a melee at a wild party, Sasha Johnson, of the British chapter of Black Lives Matter, had big plans for whites.

Johnson had been "calling for a 'racial offenders register' that would see those guilty of 'microaggressions' banned from living in multicultural communities and prevented from working in certain industries."

"If you live in a majority-colored neighborhood you shouldn't reside there because you're a risk to those people — just like if a sex offender lived next to a school he would be a risk to those children," she fulminated.

Johnson's call for a "racial offenders register" for whites is a perfectly pragmatic application of the Critical Race Theory rot.

And while Critical Race Theory (CRT) was made-in-America — it has, like many a destructive American creed, been energetically exported around the world. British agitators are certainly improving upon the plans hatched for whites by their brothers-in-arms stateside.

Snopes Introduces New Rating: 'False For Now'
[Babylon Bee] U.S.—World-renowned fact-checking website Snopes has unveiled a brand new fact check rating called "False For Now." This will allow them to provide a rating for claims that are just conspiracy theories uttered by deranged far-right people until they later turn out to be true.

"At Snopes, it's important for us to keep up with the undulating, ever-changing ocean of truth claims as they fluctuate across different official narratives we approve of," said Snopes founder David Mikkelson.

"Did COVID escape from a Wuhan lab? Well, it depends! Did a Republican say it? Does it serve the official narrative of trusted sources like CNN? We have to keep all these important questions in mind as we continue to live our truth, which is what Snopes is all about."

To save time, Snopes will just attach this rating to everything said by someone on the Right until a mainstream, unbiased source like The New York Times approves it to be upgraded to "Mixture".

Snopes also announced they will be attaching a rating of "Not Funny" to all Babylon Bee articles.

We Likely Paid the Ultimate Price for Fauci's Gain-of-Function Research, but Saw None of the Alleged Benefits
[RedState] When atomic research was in its infancy, Albert Einstein pushed the US into the nuclear era out of one concern: The Nazis may beat us to it. While that never became a reality, atomic research, which can power a city, or wipe it off the face of the planet, has its risks both accidental and intentional. Nuclear research has led to amazing discoveries including technology that powers the Curiosity and Perseverance Rovers on Mars, but has also resulted in disaster as we have seen at Chernobyl and Fukushima (and even closer to my home, at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory). Nuclear research would fall under the definition of what is known as Dual-Use-Research-of-Concern (DURC).

DURC has raised many questions in the last 20 years as biological research has led to discoveries that could either save millions of lives or, alternatively, take them. A type of DURC, gain-of-function research (GoF) essentially force-mutates viruses to make them more pathogenic, transmissible, and deadly in hopes of predicting a natural mutation event so we can develop treatments and vaccines. But just like nuclear research, viral GoF research has the potential of accidentally infecting someone with a super-virus, or worse yet, being used to develop a weaponized virus for warfare. Dr. Anthony Fauci has long been a proponent of this type of research, having defended it before a Senate Committee, the scientific community, and later, even the general public.

What the dangerous research was supposed to give scientists insight into potential viral threats ranging from natural mutations within species to natural mutations where it jumped from animals to humans, to a deliberative act of biological war. Viruses were mutated, tested for the ability to reproduce (thus spread infection), genetically analyzed, and cataloged, and those results published for scientific purposes. Thousands of variants of influenza and coronaviruses (and several other viral threats) have been identified and entered into this database with the hopes of developing a one-time universal vaccine for a wide variety of viruses. It is truly an honorable goal.

But as pointed out previously, with the good comes the risk of the bad which has been addressed numerous times by Dr. Fauci. He believes that GoF research’s benefits far outweigh the supposed benefits, yet, when you analyze that statement, you come to realize that the COVID-19 pandemic proved all of that wrong (to date). What is absolutely mindblowing though, is that the denials of the potential-lab-release of this virus as an impossibility, which ignores a decade of warnings raised by scientists in the field.

This leaves us with a simple question:

Photo Log: Here the founder of the Romanov dynasty was tonsured as a monk
by Vladimir Stanulevich

[Regnum] The Holy Trinity Monastery was founded by Saint Anthony in 1520. This was the second attempt by the monk to found a monastery - the first on the Sheleksa River existed for seven years, while the local peasants, fearing for their lands, loaded the monks onto a raft and sent them down the river. Anthony found a new place on the shore of Lake Mikhailovskoye, where the monastery now stands.

The first years were difficult, the monk himself chopped down churches and cells, but more and more novices came to the monastery. In 1570, Anthony, nicknamed by that time Siysky, reposed and was buried next to the wooden Trinity Church. Half a century later, when the brethren began to build the stone cathedral, its foundation was calculated so that the saint's burial was inside the cathedral walls. Now the burial place is covered with a slab of white limestone, all pilgrims first go to the burial place.

The Antoniev Monastery became the place of exile and forcible tonsure of the founder of the Romanov dynasty, Fedor Nikitich, the monk Filaret .

According to legend, his cell was located on the site of the current Church of the Annunciation. Soon the persecutor of the Romanovs, Boris Godunov, suddenly died, and in recent years Filaret Romanov took an active part in the events of the Great Troubles.

In 1613, his son Mikhail was elected by the Zemsky Sobor to the royal throne. The tsars, and especially the Romanovs, have always favored the monastery. Tsarevich Ivan Ivanovich, son of Ivan the Terrible, personally copied the Life of Anthony of Siysk .

A unique contribution was made to the monastery in 1693 by the patriarchal treasurer Paisios - a magnificent 900-page gospel with over 2000 miniatures. There is no other such publication in history.

Having become the Patriarch and ruler of Russia, Filaret made the Siysk Monastery and its abbot Abbot Iona the conductor of his patriarchal will in the Russian North. Jonah performed judgment and reprisals against violators of church commandments in robes and informed the patriarch about the connivance of the local authorities to drunkards, polygamists and other sinners.

After the establishment of the Kholmogory and Vazhsk dioceses, the importance of the monastery fell, but thanks to the library, it remained the cultural center of Orthodoxy in the North. From here, Mikhailo Lomonosov left for Moscow to study , and he consulted with the monastery treasurer, his uncle.

In 1923, the monastery was closed, a commune, a rest house, a boarding house and, finally, a pioneer camp were set up here. The monastery was reopened in 1992, soon the abbot Hieromonk Trifon (Plotnikov) and novices Leonid Eisenman, Valery Dulsky and Vladimir Chugunov arrived here.

In 2002, benefactors restored the destroyed bell tower of the Three Saints of Moscow according to old drawings, in 2010 they erected the Church of Nicholas the Martyr... The monastery is friendly with the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, for several seasons they helped restorers to preserve the ancient monastic graves,

In 2018, at the request of the Arkhangelsk Metropolitanate and the Imperator Foundation for the Preservation of Historical Memory. With the help of the Russian benefactor Vladimir Krupchak, they investigated the burial site of St. Anthony of Siysk, and also conducted anthropological research of dozens of remains of monks found in different years during the excavation work and saved in the monastery basements.

For the first time, statistics were collected on diseases, food, injuries and injuries of the inhabitants of the monastery. The remains told anthropologists about a touching story of how the monk was seriously injured and for many years he was nursed by the brethren of the monastery.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Blinken and a Repeat of 'Eyeless in Gaza' Saga
Amir Taheri
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] "The advanced bunker of the Resistance® Front". This is how official media in Tehran describe the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip as it emerges from its latest mini-war against "The Zionist enemy". Needless to say, regrading itself as leader of the "Resistance® Front" is already looking forward to the next round of this sordid duel. In messages to Ismail Heniyah of Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, and Ziad Nakhalah of the Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...

#1  What if Gazooks don’t want their tiny chunk of God’s earth to be a bunker for foreign potentates

Firstly, it ain't theirs. Second, I don't care for them getting 1000 hospital beds or medicine or nurses either. Third, they can all be accommodated in these shitty islamic republics surrounding Israel, if they love them so much. To the moslem, this whole thing is only about swinging from mochmed's dick, about owning Israel again; not about 'survival' or peaceful coexistence or what have you.

Moslems are deceitfully represented by 'moderate' representatives of islam as just people being controlled by madmen and ayatollahs, people capable of better. They're not. They'll pull down democracy and upend functional economies to install their deities in power and will gladly march to their word. They'll wallow in shit and feed on crow feathers if they can somehow get to hear a dying scream from a jew or christian.

No. Nobody cares for a prosperous, peaceful Paleostine, thank you. Establish your second state where the sun don't shine.

#2  Amir Taheri is an exiled Iranian writer of myriad works. However, this essay on Gaza seems a 'whistling past the graveyard.' The talented Gazans left years ago, and nobody wants the ort. As for former Arab residents funding a resurgent Palestine? If Taheri has ever met an altruistic and unselfish Arab he should nominate that person for a Nobel Prize.

Israel's operation against Hamas was the world's first AI war
[JPost] - Having relied heavily on machine learning, the Israeli military is calling Operation Guardian of the Walls the first artificial-intelligence war.
I understand some Americans are unhappy with their country's (which spent 2.4 trillion $ Nation building in Iraq & Afghanistan) military aid to Israel. Think of it as paying for R&D
"For the first time, artificial intelligence was a key component and power multiplier in fighting the enemy," an IDF Intelligence Corps senior officer said. "This is a first-of-its-kind campaign for the IDF. We implemented new methods of operation and used technological developments that were a force multiplier for the entire IDF."

In 11 days of fighting in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military carried out intensive strikes against Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad targets. It targeted key infrastructure and personnel belonging to the two groups, the IDF said.

#2  /\ That sounds like it's right out of a leadership development course, which means that, try as they might, the folks at Fort Leavenworth (for the Army) can cite doctrine all day every day, but the politics of the day or just having a shitty leader can render all of that useless.

#3  /\ ....many military-intelligence bureaucracies lack.

Clem nails it. Military 'doctrine' gives scant little consideration to the realities of Foggy Bottom and Country Team along with their political and territorial limitations. Once the military intelligence leader discovers his role is purely notional, or squad level tactical, he quickly defaults to discovering his next assignment and promotion. Violating the covenants of the national intelligence structure can find one quickly bound for Flynnladia.
