Dershowitz: Time to Investigate Mueller?
[PJ] Alan Dershowitz may be one of the last honest liberals: a man who doesn't adjust his principles depending on the politics of the situation. Like the journalists it corrupts and manipulates, however, the new Left has traduced every standard it used to profess to hold dear, including the sanctity of grand-jury testimony, the promiscuous use of anonymous sources, the attorney-client privilege itself, and civil liberties in general:
Just as the first casualty of war is truth, so, too, the first casualty of hyperpartisan politics is civil liberties. Many traditional civil libertarians have allowed their strong anti-Trump sentiments to erase their long-standing commitment to neutral civil liberties. They are now so desperate to get President Trump that they are prepared to compromise the most basic due process rights. They forget the lesson of history that such compromises made against one’s enemy are often used as precedents against one’s friends.

Dershowitz goes on to discuss the special counsel's somewhat checkered past involving the Whitey Bulger case in Boston:

Losing Patience with the Rollup of the Rogue Ruling Class
[American Thinker] More information came to light this week about the extensive, illegal operations of Obama’s rogue bureaucratic corps. Like the Attorney General, the President, Professor Alan Dershowitz, Joe DiGenova, former Clinton pollster Mark Penn and millions of others, we think this is taking far too long, and the Mueller investigation needs to close its bunker door and fade away. I’m with them. Moreover, if indictments of the Obama Bureaucrats who confected this nonsense and tried to cover it up don’t follow quickly on the release of the Inspector General’s report -- now due May 8 -- it is hard to imagine how much more contempt we will have for claims that we must respect the judicial system. Having seen the criminal justice system misused as a vicious political weapon against Lewis Libby, Ted Stevens, and now General Michael Flynn while manifest lawbreakers, including both the Clintons, McCabe, and Comey waltz home free, inspires depths of distrust that only the enemies of a democratic state could hope to accomplish,

Here are some of the highlights of this week’s many disclosures.

Judge Jeanine to Anybody Not Convinced Comey Was Involved in a Coup: ‘Are You Stupid?'
[Breitbart] During her Saturday opening statement on Fox News Channel’s "Justice," Jeanine Pirro had a question for anyone who was not convinced former FBI Director Jim Comey was involved in an attempted coup to take down President Donald Trump.

"He’s a liar. He’s a leaker. And he’s a leftist liberal. If anyone was not convinced of former FBI Director Jim Comey’s involvement in the attempted coup from within our own government of the duly elected winner of the 2016 presidential election, I have just one question for you ‐ are you stupid?" Pirro asked.

She continued, "Comey’s book tour was supposed to convince us that he was an honorable, likable, decent man doing his darndest to protect the American people and the Constitution. ... Unfortunately for Jim, it didn’t quite work out as planned. In fact, the man is in real legal jeopardy with his leaks being investigated by the Justice Department."

Mary Berry slams schools for failing to teach children simple cooking skills and says every pupil should learn 10 healthy recipes
[MAIL] Mary Berry puts her success as a cooking phenomenon down to learning the basics from her home economics teacher as a schoolgirl.

But she has slammed today’s schools for failing to teach children simple cooking skills and cutting resources.

Miss Berry, 83, said: ’Every child, when they leave school, should be able to create ten dishes that they really enjoy themselves, that are healthy, that aren’t expensive, that are nutritionally good.

’When they leave school and they’re living in a rented room with one ring, they should be able to create a meal quickly from a few ingredients ‐ and enjoy them.

’But the problem is that the schools have let go of their home economics departments. They’ve sold off the equipment and made them into other rooms.’

Miss Berry, pictured, also told The Sunday Times Magazine that she would have all children taught how to ’make gravy sauce, how to cook vegetables, how to cook cheaper cuts, and so forth’.

The former Great British Bake Off judge said she first learnt to cook from her domestic science teacher, Miss Date.

What a quaint notion - that students should actually learn useful things while they're there. That would, however, interfere with leftist indoctrination.

My father was an organic chemist. He started with the end result he desired nutritionally, then worked his way backward to develop the recipe. His crepes were acceptable, tastewise, but contained a full day’s key nutrients for a child in each one — my baby brother was very picky, needed to be fed, and loved maple syrup on pancakes.

Home Front: Politix
Thanks, POTUS, For Breaking-Up The Annual Correspondents' Circle Jerk.
[Mercer] As a newly elected president, Donald Trump was quick to take one of Washington's institutional pillars down a peg. By snubbing the 2017 annual White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD), the president deflated what should have been more appropriately called the Sycophants' Supper. Would that it was the last such supper. For now, the POTUS's slap to this gathering of sycophants this past weekend will have to do.

Like nothing else, the annual Correspondents' Dinner is a mark of a corrupt politics. It's a sickening specter, where some of the most pretentious, worthless people in the country‐in politics, journalism and entertainment‐convene to revel in their ability to petition and curry favor with one another, usually to the detriment of the rest of us in Rome's provinces.

Those gathered at the Annual Correspondents' Dinner, or their Christmas party, are not the country's natural aristocracy, but its authentic Idiocracy. No matter how poor their predictive powers, no matter how many times they get it wrong‐in war and in peace‐the presstitutes always find time for this orgy of self-praise.

And they're all on the same circuit, beavering at sculpting celebrity personas. Anchors at major networks hangout on late-night shows, where presidents and first ladies hobnob, too. Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" may be a vaudeville of giggles, goofiness, and mind-numbing banter. But providing bread and circuses for Booboisie comes with a "responsibility" the dancing, prancing, androgynous Mr. Fallon takes seriously. To his tomfoolery, Fallon once added a spot of promotion for ObamaCare (March, 2014), to honor Michelle Obama's visit to the set. Fallon's lead was a signal to Sister Act. FLOTUS launched into her own agitprop for her husband's healthcare juggernaut on that show.

Meanwhile, "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central is a professional Shangri-La for the cast of characters at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. This year, the downright mirthless "Daily Show" donated one Hasan Minhaj as its circus clown to amuse the sycophants. I hope he came for free, for Hasan is worthless as a funny man. Not a funny bone in his body.

Hasan's idea of verbal swordplay: calling The Donald "liar in chief." The quip has 9,650,000 results on Google, most of them unrelated to hackneyed Hasan. "Liar in chief" goes back to 2011 and before, and has been applied to every president and candidate since 2011.

Hasan's "originality" came together in lines as, "I would like to say it's an honor to be here, but that would be an alternative fact." He also invented a new form of satire: the sermon on The Hill. Interspersed with kvetching‐"No one wanted to do this so, of course, it landed in the hands of an immigrant, [t]hat's how it always goes down"‐was a string of clichés on the press' duty to do a better job. For "our democracy," you know.
Note: this was from 2017. Saturday's debacle with "comedian" Michelle Wolf was worse

Admiral Ronny Jackson: You can stick a fork in me, I'm DONE !
[WAPO via Chicago Tribune] Ronny Jackson, a Navy rear admiral whom President Donald Trump unsuccessfully nominated to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, will not return to his previous role as the president's personal physician, a White House official said Sunday.

Jackson, who withdrew as Trump's VA pick last week, will remain on as part of the White House medical unit, the official added. Sean Conley, a Navy veteran who took over Jackson's responsibilities after his nomination, will remain in the role as Trump's personal doctor.

Jackson, a former combat physician who faced criticism almost immediately that he was not qualified to oversee VA, withdrew his nomination Thursday, after the office of Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., released allegations against Jackson that he drank on the job, overprescribed medication and presided over a toxic work environment.

Jackson's new role was first reported by Politico.

Brooks Suggests Republicans Are Retiring Because of Assassination Fears
[Roll Call] Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks suggested in a radio interview that Republicans are retiring en masse because of assassination fears.

Brooks was speaking on "The Dale Jackson Show" about the first Republican practice the Congressional Baseball Game after last year’s shooting that left Majority Whip Steve Scalise severely injured.

"We have multiple rings of security, plainclothes, uniform, Capitol Police, other police," he said. "There was a medical vehicle nearby just in case there was a copycat."

But Brooks said while there were multiple factors that contributed to a slew of Republicans leaving the House, he suggested fears of violence was a major one.

"One of the things that’s concerning me is the assassination risk may become a factor," he said.

Brooks referred to the fact many members of the Republican baseball team are retiring, including Sen. Jeff Flake and Reps. Ryan Costello, Pat Meehan, Dennis Ross and Tom Rooney.

"You have to wonder with that kind of disproportionate retirement number whether what happened in June played a factor," he said.

Illegals Say They Will Overwhelm Our System, Destroy Our Borders
[IndependentSentinal] Hundreds of leftists are on both sides of the border supporting the soon-to-be illegal aliens who are climbing the fence dividing Tijuana, Mexico from Friendship, California. Lines of leftists are also on the U.S. side, waiting to greet them.

So far, it is more of a stunt promoting the foreigners who are lying and gaming the system to get into the U.S. seeking jobs or welfare or both. Many of the jobs they do get hired for are off the books so they don’t pay taxes, get welfare, and they send the money they make back to their home countries.

There are whole towns being supported by Mexicans working illegally in the U.S.

These illegal foreigners are people who violate our laws. This is what many politicians want for our country.
Continues.

Seattle Community Fed Up After Homeless Turn Jewish Cemetery Into Dumping Ground
[Komo via Weasel Zippers] Jewish cemeteries in North Seattle have been marred with dirty drug needles, garbage and human waste.

The community is fed up with the campers who are moving in and they’re calling for the city to do something about it.

For families who’ve laid their loved ones to rest in a sacred, final resting place, the Bikur Cholim and Historic Sephardic Jewish cemeteries have turned into dumping grounds.

"That’s the only word you can use to it is ridiculous because this shouldn’t be happening in civilized society," said Bikur Cholim congregant Ari Hoffman. "This shouldn’t be happening to anybody and imagine it’s your loved ones there."

Headstones are marred with drug needles, trash and human waste.

Families with the synagogues associated with the cemeteries said they’ve spent $50,000 cleaning up the mess that continues.

"Prostitutes were working in the woods, drug addicts are working in the woods," said Hoffman. "Groundskeepers come in on Monday morning and they find everything from a weekend of fun ‐ which is needles on the ground, crystal meth on the tombstones."

They say people living in camps have overrun the private property and some RVs have been parked outside for years.

Of Refugees, Borders, and Invaders
h.t Instapundit
[PJMedia] Apparently the "caravan" of Central and Middle Americans that was headed towards our Southern border, still is headed towards our Southern border.

Sure, Mexico has stopped openly lending support, and the lawyers accompanying the merry band have stopped telling them it’s a shoe in, but they’re still coming.

The truth of the matter is that Mexico might not be lending open support to this attempt to test US borders, but they are in fact lending it their support, by not arresting these illegal aliens on their soil (Mexico has much tougher immigration laws than ours) and not offering them asylum there. Instead, they let what must be a significant and large multitude continue towards the US border.

Why are they doing it? The answer is fairly obvious.

...They’re coming to test the "Trump administration’s tough rhetoric". In effect, they’re coming to test our borders and our decision to uphold their integrity.

It shouldn’t need to be said, but I’ll say it: I am not against immigration. It would be stupid and weird for me to be against immigration, given that I’m an immigrant myself.

...Because I am quite devoted to our founding principles and the liberty which they secure us, I don’t believe in immigration simply for economic necessity or to escape this or that. While those are valid motives to immigrate anywhere ‐ including here ‐ you should come here with the intention of becoming an American, or as my friend, Dave Freer, himself an immigrant to Australia, puts it, FIFO: Fit in or F**k off.

...None of this makes any sense from the point of view of "refugees." Frankly, none of this makes any sense from the point of view of a private, ad-hoc assemblage of immigrants. Doubtless with the cooperation of local governments this was assembled by some international organization, like one of George Soros’ open borders fronts.

Innocent or not, these people were weaponized by other interests and told they could surely make it in, past our weak borders and into the country where they could collect welfare and aid of all sorts. (We know that Obama advertised how much our welfare would give immigrants in Latin American countries.)

There is no other reason for them to, determinedly and as a group, make to our border, past all the other countries they pass on the way. If their goal was simply to rebuild their lives anew, they could easily do so in Guatemala, or Mexico, countries where their native language is spoken, and where the culture is much easier for them to integrate into. And there is no way if someone weren’t paying for their expenses, they would be allowed to continue as a multitude, through places in Mexico that they must be eating out of all provisions and where they must be taking up every free room.

These are not desperate refugees, making for our border past all the other countries, looking for a place of safety. These are at best economic immigrants who have heard the streets are paved with gold here, and who don’t understand that our wealth comes from freedom and hard work. (To be fair, neither do our native leftists.) At worst, they’re people with shady pasts, recruited, encouraged and pushed by governments and organizations that don’t mean us well, to show that our borders are weak and that we’re ripe for increased invasion.
