Virginia school administrators knew boy possibly had gun before shooting teacher: superintendent
[FoxNews] Administrators at Virginia's Richneck Elementary, the school where a first-grader shot his teacher last week, learned that the 6-year-old may have had a weapon in his possession before the shooting – but didn't seize the 9mm handgun he brought to his classroom.

During a virtual meeting, school system Superintendent George Parker told parents Thursday that a school official had been notified about the weapon before the student shot the teacher.

"At least one administrator was notified of a possible weapon in the timeline that we’re reviewing and was aware that that student had, there was a potential that there was a weapon on campus," he said, according to a clip of the meeting shared by WAVY-TV.

Michelle Price, a spokesperson for the Newport News public school district, told Fox News Digital in an emailed statement that the boy's backpack had been searched after it was reported the student might have a weapon, but that no weapon was found at that point.

"Dr. Parker did not indicate how the tip was received," she said.

The online meeting was for parents only but WAVY-TV reported the station gained access to the meeting from a parent.

Details about how they learned about the weapon and why it wasn't found before the shooting weren't immediately available.

Police previously said the boy had brought the gun to the Newport News school in his backpack.

Teacher Abby Zwerner was shot in the chest. While her injuries were initially considered to be life-threatening, her condition has improved and she was reported to be in stable condition.

No students were injured during this incident.

The Jan. 6 shooting occurred as Zwerner was teaching her class, with authorities saying there was no warning or struggle before the boy aimed the gun at the 25-year-old teacher.

Earlier in the day, Newport News School Board Chair Lisa Surles-Law said the district would install metal detectors at all schools, starting with Richneck.

#1  It's becoming more obvious all the time that this student was handled with kid gloves before the shooting.

I wonder why...

#2  It sounds as if the kid was searched and they found nothing so they thought the rumor was false. Certainly the protocol will be improved. The whole situation is depressing. In reality, if the mom lives in Newport News, she did probably need a gun.

Treasure trove of Jewish silver found near Holocaust ghetto site in Poland
[Miami Herald] As World War II began in Europe, Jews in Poland buried a treasure trove with hundreds of silver items. The treasure remained hidden for over 80 years, forgotten until now.

Construction crews in Łódź were excavating a street outside a tenement house when a worker noticed something unusual, the Provincial Office for the Protection of Monuments in Łódź said in a Jan. 3 news release. The construction crews immediately alerted local archaeologists. Buried in the ground were over 280 metal items, many plated in silver, found by archaeologists.

Some items, such as menorahs, had clear religious connections. These items, coupled with the estimated age of the finds, lead archaeologists to conclude Jewish people buried the treasure at the beginning of WWII.

#3  Like in other ghettos, starvation was rife [at Lodz]. Some 43,500 people, about 21% of the ghetto population, died of starvation, cold or disease, and the constant hunger, overcrowding, disease and death eroded the very stability of the family unit.

XBB1.5 — the most transmissible COVID subvariant yet
[GEO.TV] The Omicron subvariant XBB 1.5, the most transmissible COVID-19 subvariant so far, is spreading quickly across the United States and was predicted on Friday to become Europe’s dominant strain in a matter of weeks.

Here’s what we know about XBB 1.5.

WHERE AND WHAT
The subvariant was first detected in the United States in October and now represents more than 27% of the country’s infections, according to the CDC’s variant tracker.

Thirty-eight countries have reported XBB 1.5 cases, of which 82% have been reported in the US, 8% in Britannia, and 2% in Denmark, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a rapid risk assessment on Wednesday.

Cholera outbreak in Malawi claims 750 deaths
Why so many people prefer living in a first world country with proper plumbing.
[AFRICANEWS] The cholera outbreak in Malawi, the worst in two decades, has reached the grim mark of 750 deaths.

According to Malawi's Health Minister, cases continue to rise across the country despite some encouraging signs in some areas.

"We continue to record rising number of cases across the country, despite signs of reduced transmission and deaths in a few areas. We would like to commend those that are availing themselves for treatment", said Malawi Health Minister, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda.

The cholera outbreak was declared in March last year. So far, the authorities recorded almost 23,000 cases.

"We received 2.9 million dosages of the cholera vaccine, but as we speak, we have about 40 thousand left. It means Malawians availed themselves for the vaccine. What is worrying however is that those that received the vaccine are not the ones at high risk. Those that are in high risk are proving difficult to convince to take the vaccine", added the Minister.

According to Africa CDC, the continent's largest public health body, 14 African countries are reporting cholera cases, many of which are due to flooding across the continent.

DRC: M23 pledges to pursue ''orderly withdrawal'', says Kenyatta
[AFRICANEWS] M23 rebels have agreed to continue their "orderly withdrawal" from conquered territory in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
(DRC), former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Thursday.

Uhuru Kenyatta, who plays a mediating role in this conflict and represents the group of five East African countries, spoke with M23 officials, according to a blurb by the former president released after of the meeting in the Kenyan coastal city of Mombassa.

"As a pledge of goodwill to work towards a settlement in North Kivu, the M23 leaders have agreed to continue their orderly withdrawal and to respect a strict ceasefire," Uhuru Kenyatta said in his statement.

"They also agreed to continue to respect and cooperate with the East African Regional Force (EAC) which has begun to take control of the areas from which the M23 has just withdrawn," said the former president.

These withdrawals of the M23 follow the decisions of a summit which, on November 23 in Luanda, had asked for a ceasefire and the departure of the rebels from the areas conquered for a year.

A predominantly Tutsi rebellion defeated in 2013, the M23 ( "March 23 Movement" ) took up arms again at the end of 2021, accusing Kinshasa of not having respected commitments on the demobilization of its fighters.

Its resurgence has reignited historic tensions between the DRC and Rwanda, accused of supporting the M23 and fighting with it.

Kigali denies it, accusing the Congolese army of collusion with a Rwandan Hutu rebellion established in eastern DRC since the 1994 Tutsi genocide in Rwanda.

Government Corruption
Nixon Threatened to Reveal the Deep State Involvement in the Kennedy Assassination
[Roger Stone] A stunning, long-overlooked Nixon Watergate-era tape shows Richard Nixon warning CIA Director Richard Helms that he knows of CIA involvement in the murder of John F. Kennedy- "I know who shot John."

This shocking new tape depicts Nixon increasingly besieged by Watergate but unaware that at least four of the Watergate burglars were still on the CIA payroll at the time of the break-in, and that the CIA had thus infiltrated the burglary team. Recently declassified documents reveal that Watergate Special Prosecutor Nick Akerman was aware of both the CIA’s advance knowledge and involvement in the break-in — but said and did nothing.

Senator Howard Baker, the Republican Leader on the Senate Watergate Committee and his counsel Fred Thompson himself, a future U.S. Senator from Tennessee, like Baker, stumbled on the CIA's deep advanced knowledge and direct involvement in the Watergate break-in. Baker and Thompson both knew that at least four of the Watergate burglars were on the CIA payroll at the time of the break-in and that through CREEP Security Director James McCord, had infiltrated the burglary team. Senate Watergate Committee Chairman Sam Ervin stoutly refused to allow Baker and the Committee Republicans including Edward J. Gurney of Florida the right to publish a Minority Report which noted this stunning information regarding the CIA.

Nixon deeply distrusted the CIA because he knew that President Eisenhower had ordered the agency to give top secret briefings to both Nixon and Kennedy after both were the certain nominees of their parties. Nixon was sore that Kennedy utilized the information in their debates, attacking Nixon for being "soft" on communist Cuba, knowing full well that Nixon had chaired a working group as Vice President overseeing preparations for the "Bay of Pigs" invasion. Nixon, of course, could not reveal this upcoming attempt to topple Castro in the details.

#1  Nixon's departure from office is important today for what reason? Could it be the same reason that Biden appears to face removal of office today ?

Joe Biden and the 'Crime Family' know far too much, and they have a classified document paper trail to back it up.

The project is being terminated. Trump is gone. The Bidens have outlived their usefulness to the Deep State and must now go.

#2  Given it will be 60 years this coming Nov. and we, the people, have yet to see ALL of the JFK Assassination evidence. Despite a mandatory public release date of many years ago.

Who wouldn't suspect there is DC SWAMP Treasonous incriminating evidence is being hidden from the public.

Heck, we know the Vietnam War, which JFK did not support, made certain people and companies $$ billions.
Posted by: NN2N1 || 01/14/2023 6:47 Comments || Top||

#3  Yes, it's most likely that the CIA assassinated Kennedy, because he wanted to issue United States Notes instead of having the Federal Reserve sell us our own money, and withdraw from Vietnam. Both of these were far, far too profitable to consider giving up.

Vietnam made a mint for the military-industrial complex and the Federal Reserve continues to rip us off today.

#7  #1 Akerman is still alive: "[He]began his job as a federal prosecutor after graduating. He was also a part of the Watergate prosecution team. Following that, he worked as an Assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of New York. During his tenure, he prosecuted several white-collar crimes, including bank fraud, stock fraud, financial fraud, and tax evasion. Furthermore, while in the Watergate Special Prosecution Force, he served as Assistant Special Watergate Prosecutor under Archibald Cox and Leon Jaworski.
He is currently a specialist in both criminal and civil applications.... Because of his fame, he appears on MSNBC on a regular basis, providing his thoughts and ideas on current national topics, many of which are delicate in nature.

Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka to slash military by a third to cut costs
[DAWN] Sri Lanka will slash its army by a third to 135,000 personnel by next year and to 100,000 by 2030, the state minister of defence said on Friday, as the country tries to cut costs in the face of its worst economic crisis in more than seven decades.

"Military spending is basically state-borne expenditure which indirectly stimulates and opens avenues for economic growth by way of assuring national and human security," Premitha Bandara Thennakoon said in a statement.

The aim of the move is to create a "technically and tactically sound and well-balanced" defence force by 2030, Thennakoon said.

The size of Sri Lanka’s armed forces peaked between 2017 and 2019, with 317,000 personnel, according to World Bank data, higher even than that during the 25 year-long conflict with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) that ended in 2009.

The share of the defence sector in Sri Lanka’s total expenditure peaked in 2021, at 2.31 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), but fell to 2.03pc last year, according to Colombo-based think tank Verite Research.

Recently, President Ranil Wickremesinghe ordered a five per cent reduction in state spending and his administration warned earlier this week that welfare payments for 1.8 million families below the poverty line could be delayed this month.

Sri Lanka needs to achieve debt sustainability as a precondition to secure a $2.9 billion IMF loan.

The lender has also asked Colombo to trim its 1.5 million-strong public service, sharply raise taxes and sell off loss-making state enterprises.

Key creditors such as China and India are yet to agree upon a "haircut" on their loans to the South Asian nation, which has stalled Sri Lanka’s efforts to restructure its debt.

Doubled personal income and corporate taxes kicked in on New Year’s Day to shore up state revenue.

Electricity prices are also rising another 65pc after a 75pc tariff increase in August.

Sri Lanka’s 22 million people endured months of food and fuel shortages, chronic blackouts and runaway inflation last year, inflaming public anger.

Wickremesinghe came to power in July at the peak of the crisis after his predecessor fled the country when protesters stormed his residence.
